Back here again to share that I absolutely love this Salon! My first time was April 2024. I booked with Jeralene and let's just say life changing. As you can see in my first review, the brown fading is from me previously being balayage so my routine was to get a touch up. Fast forward a year later, my hair is almost grown out - virgin hair?!? Since my hair has grown out so much, I now usually get a haircut, treatment, and style. My hair has been the healthiest it's been in over a decade. Nicki did a color fix on my hair a few months ago in July, And it faded nicely. It was about 280$ plus 30$ for a hair trim (normally 60$ for a cut but gave me a discount) so it's on the pricier side but I was really happy with the hair color. The previous place I went to was cheaper but they butchered my hair (Paul Mitchell, one of the teachers was rude to me and didn't listen to what I wanted and didn't take constructive criticism well, before yanking on my hair with a blow out brush causing my hair to be rough with split ends). My experience is unfortunately similar to another reviewer's experience of deceptive pricing. I really wanted to like this salon, but cannot get over the lapse in communication and transparency. I found Jeralene through Instagram and expressed wanting a haircut. I sent a photo of myself along with inspo pics. She quoted me $100+ for the cut. Jeralene was friendly and talkative. She trimmed 1-2 inches and did some shaping. Similar to another reviewer, she sold me a hair treatment, which was essentially extra conditioning. I did not ask for the treatment price beforehand, which in retrospect, I should've. I was taken aback when Jeralene charged me $200 for the appointment -- meaning the hair treatment alone was $100 -- doubling my expected total. Although sticker shocked, I paid for the 1-hour service and included tip. At the end of the appointment, Jeralene indicated that her procedure was to book a follow-up trim 3 months out. She said the hair treatment was optional and could be added on if desired. I never receive confirmation of the follow-up date or time. Fast forward 3 months, Jeralene texts me out of the blue, asking me to choose a time to come in tomorrow. Thinking I may have missed it, I ask her to forward any and all communication regarding confirmation of this appointment. She doesn't respond with any. She says she'll have to charge me a late cancellation fee of $200 for the missed cut and treatment. I express that it is excessive and unreasonable to try to charge a $200 cancellation fee for an appointment that was never confirmed, and on top of that, including the price of an optional service into said fee. I can't help but feel like I was being milked for as much money as possible. I can't help but wonder if these are tactics used to target new clients: selling hair treatments without disclosing the price, booking appointments months in advance, with zero confirmation of date nor time, to justify cancellation fees. Even more concerning was her response to all this: that she's not obligated to remind clients of appointments. I don't like leaving reviews like this, but people need to be aware of such business practices. I hope this serves as a learning lesson to honestly and clearly communicate with clients, especially ones that you're trying to keep. read more

I went in to get a haircut with Jeralene in a style I was iffy on since I knew it was a high maintenance style. Jeralene suggested a similar hairstyle but something that was low maintenance after getting to know what I normally do with my hair. At first, I was a little iffy about switching it up but decided to trust the process and I'm so glad I did! This is the first time I've ever felt so obsessed with a layered hairstyle. The price did surprise me since I didn't expect it to be so much but I only cut my hair every 2-3 years so I think it's pretty worth it. I also love how communicative she was! I was scrambling to make a very, very short notice appointment. On 8/3/25, I called to schedule an appointment but they were closed so that's my bad. On 8/4/25, I received a missed call from them but no voicemail was left. On 8/5/25, I called them back knowing that they were open. No answer. They called me back and left a voicemail. Then I called them right back when I got the voicemail. The person I spoke to on the phone said that all of their barbers and stylists are independent so they have their own pricing and schedules. She took down my information and said that someone would call me back to schedule the haircut that I was requesting. No problem, I gave her my information. Deceptive pricing for a simple hair cut. It pains me to leave a review like this, but my experience with Jeralene was bad and I felt scammed truthfully. First saw her on IG, made an appointment (her response time was slow. She only confirmed my appointment the NIGHT before). I asked her the cost before I book - I only needed a hair cut and nothing else, she replied on IG that haircut is $95+ (which I should've seen as a red flag - she knew the length I was cutting and should've provided an accurate quote). In my mind I wasn't gonna do anything else so I thought it was gonna be close to that. So I got there for my appointment, she was very nice and chatty. I told her that I gotta leave within one hour because of work. She said it's no problem. During the hair cut she also offered a treatment during hair wash. She did not tell me how much that treatment was and I thought it would be around $50 or less. At the end of the ONE HOUR appointment that included haircut and "treatment" which was basically an extra wash during the hair washing, this service was $185!!!!!! I felt completely scammed by her and this whole experience. If I had a difficult hair cut, any coloring, I would understand it would cost more than the "$95+" quote - but I only needed a quick haircut and fell for her treatment suggestion, thinking that if it costed closer to $100 extra she would have told me. Nope. My advice: Get a CLEAR quote from her before you accept her service. read more

I have been going to Jeralene for ~4 years now. I provide her with sample pictures of what I want & she always delivers amazing color results. She is also a sweetheart! You truly get what you pay for when entrusting Jeralene with your tresses. She does magic & and I love my hair even more as it slightly fades. I honestly cannot recommend Pera Salon (especially Jeralene) enough! I mean just look at these pictures. She had me feeling like The Princess Diaries when Mia gets her makeover! I found Pera on Yelp and wanted to try the salon out because I wanted someone who knows how to handle Asian hair. There aren't a lot of Asian hair stylists in the Natomas area and I didn't want to have to drive all the way to Elk Grove to find a hairstylist that knows how to do Asian hair. I saw that the salon gets glowing reviews so I knew that I had to try it out. I got a cut and style from Jeralene and she was extremely thorough at every step of the process. When first booking with her, she asked me what kind of haircut I wanted and I genuinely had no clue. I would look at hair inspo pics but I could never really decide if I thought the style would look good on me, let alone if I even liked the style in the first place. I simply wanted someone who could tell me what would look good on me and just do it. Jeralene was cool with me not having much direction for her and replied that she had some ideas as to what we could do with my hair. At my appointment, she asked me some questions to ensure that she didn't accidentally do something that I didn't want her to do with my hair. I gave her some parameters for what I did/didn't want, but she spoke with such knowledge and expertise that I trusted that she knew exactly what to do with my hair. And boy was I right! I think that Jeralene is secretly a mind reader because she recommended that we do fewer and longer layers instead of having a bunch of layers throughout the hair because it is lower maintenance and doesn't need to be styled everyday to look good. She was definitely on the nose with that one because I'm lazy and constantly running late without time to do my hair. I kid you not, I did NOT tell her that fact about myself and somehow she just knew??? I could go on and on about how detailed she was about explaining her rationale behind every recommendation that she made for my haircut, but I'm sure that you don't want to read a whole book about how great my experience was. Finally, we get to the cut and style and she obviously does an amazing job with my hair, giving me everything that I didn't even know I wanted and more. I ended up going dancing that night and out the day after and the curls stayed perfectly intact! Even after washing out the style, my hair still looks amazing! I finally had time to process what happened to my hair a couple weeks back and am able to sit down and write this review. This is the first time ever in my life I left a review on a business so please bear with me! I was just going to stay silent about my experience at Pera as I usually do when I am not satisfied with a product or a service, but as I reflected on it these past days, this experience was definitely something I think needs to be shared. I am not bashing on the other hair stylists as I read their reviews and they seem to be good. I am only writing about my own experience with a particular hairstylist. So I read a lot of promising reviews and I came out of here almost in tears. I'm moving closer to the area and wanted to find my new go to hair salon. I tried my best not to show at the end (it was the first time a haircut actually made me want to cry) but how did Nikky get my hair cut so bad? I showed a picture of exactly the haircut I want ( mind you it's FROM PERA SALON ITSELF) and she completely missed the mark. She thinned my hair out into oblivion (I will say to this, I didn't mind her thinning it out. I told her it was okay. I just didn't expected SO MUCH OF IT would have been thinned out. So in a way, I guess I did ask for it? But definitely not to the extent of what I was left with. ) and added so many layers that I TRULY NEVER asked for. Not to mention, she cut strands of my hair FROM MY ROOTS. It now sticks up in a weird place and makes my roots look frizzy all the time. I have moderately thick, wavy hair as you'll see. It was down to my chest with very minimal layers so there wasn't anything complicated with my hair before my haircut. After my appointment and before getting it fixed at another place, whenever I grab my hair like I'm putting it in a ponytail, it was half the width it was before the haircut. I have never been so disappointed with a haircut appointment before in my life. I understand that the original hair stylist who cut the haircut in the reference picture was not Nikky, but if you could not do it, you should have just be upfront with me. I would have appreciated the honesty and I would have asked for something else or reschedule all together. I gave this salon a chance and it was so bad. When I asked for it to be styled differently, she pointed to her hair straightener and said that I could style it the way I want while setting up for her next client. I get it that she wanted to start on her next appt. after me (which mind you, was my friend who also tried this salon for the first time and got bangs that she didn't even ask for...) but that seemed so unprofessional to me. And when I asked my friend later if I went over time, she said no I was within the time allotted. I asked after my friend's appointment if she could just cut the length off to make it more of a blunt bob to get rid of some of the layers I wasn't happy about ( a few inches off my shoulder and shorter than the reference pic) and she had a dismissive tone and said tomorrow, not today. Which again, I understand being fully booked and truly not being able to squeeze me in. But why put on a dismissive tone? I actually did schedule another appointment with her the next day but when I left, I just couldn't bring myself to drive all the way back there without any reassurance that things would go differently the next time. Maybe things could have been different if I was more vocal about how my haircut was different from the photo I showed. But, I was just so shaken up that I wanted to leave as soon as possible after the whole ordeal. So I did end up cancelling that appointment and ended up going to my usual hair salon in my old city where they did their best to salvage my butchered hair. I added pics of the reference and my hair before I got it fixed at the second salon. It was to the point where the hairdresser at the 2nd salon said that if she didn't see the reference photo I brought in to Pera , she would have assumed that I asked for a jellyfish- mullet haircut. I wish I had pics right after the appointment the way she styled it (a blowout) but I have to admit I was too embarrassed to be keep mementos of it. There was a lot of volume on top and not a lot of it at the bottom. I also understand that my hair texture is different from the girl in the photo/ instagram video and her hair was styled so the haircut in the picture wouldn't look identical on me but the haircut itself just way too different from what I wanted vs what I got. The actual salon was nice and Nikki herself was nice enough to chat here and there during the appointment. I just am so disappointed still with the professionalism and actual skill of the hairdresser herself, which at the end day, is what you look for in a good hair salon and hairstylist. This is a review for Anna! I pre-booked an appointment with Anna through her Instagram (@hairapywithbuzi) for a cut, wash, and blowout. Communicating with Anna was super easy; she's so nice and attentive! I asked for face framing bangs and some layers to try something new since I usually just get a straight cut. I appreciate the time and attention to detail Anna spent with my hair because I have long and really thick hair so I know it can be a lot of work to cut and work with. However, Anna did amazing and I felt like a whole new person with this new style! She made me love it so much, I can only get it cut and styled by her from now on! I went in for a long over due hair cut and since it had been so long that i've cut my hair, I was pretty nervous because I tend to never like the cuts I've gotten before but Anna really made me feel comfortable and consulted with me about the length I wanted.
