I really did not want to leave a bad review bc I knew the owners but my hair has costed so much to look as bad as it does. My hair was done in 2 sessions and was under the impression I was receiving a full highlight service for the high price I paid. Anyhow, to keep it short it was only partially highlighted. The remaining hair wasn't highlighted the next appointment. I specifically wanted blonde full highlights to reduce existing brassiness that I wanted fixed in the first place. Now my hair is brassy, dark and uneven everywhere. Really upsetting because now I am going to pay someone else to fix the $375 I threw down the drain. I felt bad saying anything to the stylist because I'm afraid my hair would become fried since it's been treated so many times here already with bad results. No stars, this is a warning review! I had the worst, aggressive, uncomfortable experience. My ear still hurts from the blow-dryer blowing directly into it. My hair was yanked several times. I came home with product in my other ear. My hair smells terrible and I do not love it at all. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. And, it's super expensive, like way over priced. Not the salon "treat" I'm use to. Keep looking, this place is tacky, no foot rest at the very uncomfortable wash bowls, speaking of wash bowls. Water was splashed all over my face, my mascara was ruined after the wash, I had a cold wet back. Terribly sad boring music to go along with this sad salon. I wish I had something nice to say but I do not. Even the stylist was fake and seemed miserable. Just going through the motions to make a buck. No love or passion present. This is my very honest review bc I wish I knew before going. I would NOT have ever stepped foot in this place. You can expect a snarky response from the shop as seen with other reviews, this really should have been a huge red flag. read more

I love this place! I wanted something different out of my comfort zone. So I walked in and met Paulo. I explained I wanted a new look and right away he scheduled me for an appointment. I was impressed on how quickly I was able to get in. Other places I've gone to told me I had to wait 3 to 4 months out! I told him I wanted a cut and something pink. I told him just do whatever I trust you! Bc honestly I'm new to this stuff and he made me feel so comfortable. The end results were amazing. Such a nice, local salon. I am so use to others where other stylists are cold and focused on only their client , but both stylists (and client) commented on my hair after it was finished. Made me feel real good especially since my hair was a natural disater when I came in- 2 years of highlights grown out, different lengths (not cute), frizz galore. He's very kind and caring and I'm just at a lose for words because I was so pleased with his work. My hair was super stringy and falling out because of childbirth and he made it feel full and bouncy again and brought my little mini wannabe curls back to life . Is it weird that I recently had my first appointment here and I already feel like everyone at Medusa is a dear friend? I don't think so. The vibe is welcoming and familial. There was even yummy iced herbal tea served with fruit by another one of the stylists, Bob! Truly, I felt like I was at a friend's place. After 2 failed attempts elsewhere to get the same look that my last stylist in San Diego nailed, I finally got back to looking like myself with Ronny! It was ok-- the salon is great. Parking right in front, designed well and comfortable. Ronny was ready for me and I genuinely enjoyed my time with him. I had spoken with him on the phone and let him know I'm wearing my hair curly all the time, which is fairly new to me, and that my best cuts have always been dry or a combo. I was surprised that he just washed and cut it- even did my bangs wet and then let them air dry. He never asked about length at all, which surprised me as well. My hair was still damp when I left so it continued to shrink. The other two customers were older women with short hair cuts so maybe that is more the clientele? The whole cut with wash took about 40 minutes, even with a couple interruptions. Also no advice on styling or products or anything related to curly hair or curly girl method. Overall though, my hair looks fine and I may have just not pushed enough for what I wanted. read more

I was super excited to try out Medusa salon. I called the day before and they were able to squeeze me in for a last minute appointment. On top of that, they were running ahead of schedule and let me know I could come in an hour early! I hate waiting past my appointment time, so this was a huge plus for me. Ronny listed to what I wanted:an inch and a half off, long layers (nothing crazy because I don't like to style my hair) and a little more shape to it. I was horrified as I watched him cut up to five inches off of my hair to achieve my "long layers". Of course by the time I saw, it was far too late to turn back. I hate layers like this and now I am stuck with them for the next few months until they grow out. Pros: Ronny was a truly nice guy and the salon is a beautiful, clean, and unique space. Cons: I hate my hair cut and I cannot get it fixed because it is a problem of being too short already. Make sure you are explicitly clear about what you want, because I thought I was and I got the exact opposite of what I wanted. read more

Brand new space for my long time stylist, Bob. Owners Paulo and Ronny relocated from Arden Park to Tahoe Park and the new space is so much bigger and low key with all the standard amenities. Price range is decent for the master stylists on hand from $45 up for cuts and $75 up for color. The decor is retro vintage chic, but still very relaxing and totally modern. Last time I came here I was super satisfied with my cut and style, but I feel compelled to update. I made a same-day appointment at Medusa last week, which was great. I should preface this by saying the stylists are very nice, but I left disappointed for a number of reasons. I had cancelled an appointment I had elsewhere because I thought I'd treat myself for once and go to a nice salon! I didn't need much doing, just a tidy up and trim (both of which were really needed). Though I didn't want much taking off, I did really need a tidy up all over because I had split ends and it was growing out unevenly; my hair is naturally curly so when it's not in good shape it gets frizzy, and it hadn't been cut for 6 months. I asked to keep as much length as possible, but to trim and take out the weight from the sides so my old layers weren't clumpy and heavy. I got what I'd call a basic trim, (no wash...I had turned up with freshly washed hair because I'd been to the gym and thought it impolite to show up with unwashed hair so said that it was fine to not fully clean it). The stylist wet my hair and trimmed the back, dried it, and put a bit of curling cream in it...and then charged me a bill for $45 plus tip. The whole appointment lasted maybe 20 minutes. My sides weren't tidied up, the weight was left in because the layers weren't trimmed, I still have split ends, and I had to rewash and style when I got home because it was just a massive frizz fest. I hate leaving negative reviews for local places I have liked in the past, but I don't think I'll be back. I just can't justify paying that much for a cut that I didn't get. And I still need a haircut. read more

Ronny has exceptional customer service. I was greeted with a smile as soon as I walked in the beautiful salon. Him and his partner turned what was a complete disaster into a beautiful salon. It's very eclectic and has a great vibe. I originally came in to see if I could get a perm to bring some volume back into my hair and Ronny was very knowledgeable about hair and told me to wait until my hair was ready (I have leftover bleach from attempting grey).
