So long story short, I am a male who is very particular about his hair. I have one lady in Houston, Texas who has cut my hair for the past 6 years because she is the only one who can do it right. I currently live in the Ft. Worth area and had my parents come up to take my white coat pictures for medical school. At the time, I was growing out my flow and had a hair band. My mother refused to take my pictures with such lushes locks. I tried to explain to her that only one lady cuts my hair (as she knows) but she refuted my comments and implored that I find a stylist immediately. Being the Mama's boy that I am.... I went to a hair salon and got my hair cut. I walked out of this place with what looked like a rabid squirrel on my head. I was so embarrassed by how I looked and knew that I could not take my white coat pictures anymore. BUT! On my way home, I saw a sign that said "ALI, THE HAIR NINJA" and thought I'd swing by this place to see if this so called "hair ninja" could fix the rabid squirrel on my head. I walked inside and was lucky enough to get an appointment with him. He sat me down and began taking pictures of my head from all angles in order to get, or at least I assume, the perfect perspective. By the time he was done, I was absolutely shocked in his abilities to fix my hair. I went from rabid squirrel to GQ model in about 15 minutes. My white coat pictures came out superb thank to Ali. This studio rocks on so many different levels. I told them if the high end salons in NYC had a baby with the high end salons in Los Angeles, it would be Esoterica. You get the absolute best of both worlds here and the creativity is outrageous. My first visit in February, Christy did my hair. We spoke before my appointment and I sent her a photo of what I was looking for. I wanted a "Northern Lights" color blend and oh boy did she deliver! (See my profile pic!) I went in with tired red hair halfway down my back. I wanted the red gone after using a mix of both henna and boxed colors through the years. She colored it a gorgeous chocolate brown. From there the colors added were gold, pink, purple, teal and blue. Christy also cut and styled my hair barely below shoulder length with very long layers. This girl worked some major magic. I never received so many compliments on my hair before. I also bought some of the pro shampoo/conditioner/heat protectant as well. Here I am, 6 months later after following all of Christy's instructions (room temp to cool water wash and rinse) and the colors are just starting to fade. I was told they wouldn't even last this long but they did. I've been back to touch up my roots and Christy did a flawless job. No line of demarkation at all. All the stylists at this salon are wonderful and it was nice to see them all help each other out as well. I love to take a lot of hair risks and constantly change up my hair, but I only want to ever do this worth the right artist. I have been seeing Christy Yassen for a couple years now and can say without a doubt that she is one of the most talented people I have ever met when it comes to hair/ hair color. Any hairstyle or color I've ever asked her to do for me she has exceeded ten fold and has killed each look . A small taste of what she has done for me is the following but certainly not limited to: taken my hair to purple multiple times, taken my natural brown hair to silver/platinum blonde, given me dreamy blonde and brown balayage's at different hair lengths, given me amazing cuts like bangs, bobs and more. Not to mention Christy is one of the sweetest people and always listens to what I want I'll still keeping the health of my hair at highest priority. Cara recently gave me a Keratin treatment and I was SO SO SO happy with the results. I have thick, curly, frizzy hair and the treatment has totally changed my routine. The treatment also came with a cut so I trusted Cara to make a pretty drastic change. I went from super long hair to a shorter angled bob and she did a great job!! So much so that I came back and asked her to color my hair for the first time in nearly 15 years. Again, she did not disappoint! I asked for a subtle color to cover some grays and she delivered exactly what I wanted! As an added bonus, Cara helped teach me how to style my curly hair. I'm 36 years old and NOBODY has EVER been able to teach me how to frame my face with my curls and properly use a diffuser! Cara has me sold and I'm now a repeat client! Everyone at the salon is so nice and friendly. They are always laughing and having such a great time up there! Two words: Miracle & Genius. After relocating to DFW and having not one, but two unpleasant trips to separate hair dressers, I had just about given up on going to salons altogether. (Especially after having a hair dresser back home that I'd been going to for easily 10+ years.) This past Friday, I had my hair done by none other than the wonderful Jacky. She was an unexpected and welcome blessing. Somehow, she took my box-dyed black, then red hair, cleaned out the dye, and then took me back to the medium brunette that it was supposed to be. Six hours. Six hours of work and throughout the whole process she held a warming, positive, can-do attitude while my hair fought with her. She is an absolutely adorable personality and fantastic hair magician - I can't recommend her enough. (And yes, my hair is still healthy, not crunchy and angry!) read more

My hair is significantly thinning, and I had not been satisfied with any cut that I received since the thinning began until I went to Esoterica and got a cut/style from Mercy. Previously, I felt like I needed to wear a baseball cap 24/7, but now I don't. Also, Mercy recommended a couple of products that I have been using to help combat the thinning/perception of the current thinning and they have significantly increased the overall perceived thickness of my hair. The other salon staff members were super friendly and accommodating as well, and the overall atmosphere at Esoterica is vibrant and exciting while also relaxing at the same time. I am so happy a friend recommended Esoterica Salon. Ale has taken extra good care of me both times I have been and I have extra thick and curly long hair so he has to work really hard for me to get the results I am looking for but again I am super pleased. I highly recommend this salon if you are looking for a super fun salon that has such professional stylists and Ale the super stylists who teaches, directs and establishes this studio. I just moved to Fort Worth a couple of months ago, and was really nervous about finding someone to cut my hair (curly hair, worn short can lead to disaster in the wrong hands). I read reviews about Esoterica, and got an appointment with Tara. I was NOT disappointed! Tara understood what I was looking for (and actually listened to what I was looking for), new how to work with my hair, and gave me the best haircut I've had in a while. She also recommended product to me without being pushy, and thanks to a recommendation I have a new favorite hair product to use on days my hair is acting up. I received a cut and color by Mercy that was absolutely perfect! She heard exactly what I wanted it, cut my hair to the desired length with shaping and layering to match my face shape. The color was the exact match of what I was looking for as well! I felt comfortable and completely trusted her work! The experience was relaxing while the conversation ran smoothly! She was confident in what she was doing but had no problem collaborating with their color specialist to choose the best formula for the difficult color I was asking for! I've gotten my hair done by Christy for the last few years, and have followed her as she moves through her career. I love Esoterica Studios and I love Christy! The vibe of the studio is great, & Christy is so personable and open to new ideas and colors (and can be a great professional opinion when I go in with no idea what I want, just that I want something NEW). From asymmetric bobs to long layers to shaving sections of my hair off altogether, I have always been 100% amazed at the final product. Tara did a full color correction on my hair (dark brown to a light blonde) and this is the first time in my life I've had someone actually achieve a blonde on me. I'm having it lightened again after 6 weeks and the color is so light and beautiful. Never thought we would achieve this! She is so knowledgeable and takes the time to explain to you what she's doing and realistically how much is doable for the coloring. I've been in to Esoterica several times now and Mercy is my stylist/colorist every time. She does amazing work and makes the experience enjoyable. I colored my hair for the first time recently, and she checked in with me throughout the process to make sure I was comfortable and answered any questions I had. My hair turned out so beautiful! My hair looks and feels amazing. I got exactly what I asked for at a great price and Christy was great! I had had a bad experience at my previous salon and couldn't get in with the girl I really wanted to see at the old salon or anyone else I trusted. I jumped out on a limb and found this place. Christy is by far the best hairstylist I have ever had! She makes me feel so comfortable! I let her cut off 10 inches of my hair, which if you're a girl you know that is some serious TRUST. She's an incredible colorist, and I honestly feel like she gets better every time I show up! Everyone in the salon is so amazing and helpful as well! Mercy did a wonderful job on my galaxy hair!! It's not too often that I can go into a salon and come out with exactly what I wanted going on, but this time, it was beyond expectations. I've been to several salons over and over. Came out satisfied but not excited. Today I was referred by a friend to see Matt. Man did he make me love my hair!! You can tell as he does your hair he truly has passion in what he does! Not to mention the atmosphere of Esoterica is so laid back.
