Found this spot after much research because my hubby loves espresso. There was a lot of magazines and newspapers to read. It had a very cozy homey feel. The owner was really nice. He takes his time to listen to how you like your coffee and takes the time until it comes out just the way you like it. My husband said it was a highlight to our trip to ABQ. It was reasonably priced and we definitely recommend coming if you're a coffee connoisseur! I ordered a Vanilla Latte and an Almond Late, both were so delicious!! You know when that coffee hits perfectly and you say to yourself, damn that's good coffee! The barista was very friendly with good vibes. The prices were reasonable. I highly recommend coming here if you're in Albuquerque. They have food too, but I didn't get a chance to try it this time. In town for a conference and stopped in early Monday morning for a latte. It is such a cute spot and I love how welcoming and warm the owner was. I had a fun time chatting with him and seeing him interact with his regulars! Clearly a pillar of the community. Loved my latte with salted caramel and oat milk. Greg checked to see that it was to my liking and it was incredible! Stopped by while waiting for the train, and it turned out to be such a pleasant surprise. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, which always makes a place feel special. Exceptional. This is a tiny little shop, cozy. Maybe room to seat 10 people if you want to be friendly and close. I went basic: medium Latte. The drink was expertly crafted with a delightful and perfectly pulled shot and full textured milk. When was the last time a barista handed you a perfect coffee complete with beautiful Latte Art and then genuinely said: "tell me how that is? Tell me if you need me to change anything. Make sure it's hot enough". He meant it! This is the kind of place you want to find when looking for coffee. Barista is a craftsman. Easily the best espresso I've had since moving to the States five years ago. Perfectly balanced, rich, and smooth without the sour bite most places have. You can taste the care in every shot. The service was outstanding -- the owner (at least I think he's the owner) personally made sure my espresso tasted right and even offered to remake it if it wasn't perfect. However, I'll add on a few things that only time, dedication to craft, and hard work can produce. Espresso Fino and Greg Flores continue to exemplify the pinnacle of what Espresso is meant to be; unpretentious, accessible, and just incredibly delicious. In his time at 222 Gold, Greg has managed to (single-handedly, mind you) create not just an espresso shop, but an institution in Downtown Abq espresso. The synthesis (pretentious term, used totally unpretentiously here) of coffee, kitsch, cool, with an undeniable human touch make this location something that far transcends just the creation of delicious coffee drinks. It embodies all the best things that make people love coffee the way we all do, with the indelible personal touch of its owner, in a way that is unforgettable, and demanding of play on repeat. Whether you're a native, or just passing through, you won't regret giving your business to Greg, leaving better off than you were when you arrived. So few businesses possess the ethereal (another pretentious adjective used unpretentiously) mix of qualities that defy a Yelp review. It's a basic formula which, time and again, most businesses can't capture, and it comes down to these three truths: 1) Venue: Offering very little seating, inside and out, this little café drips with European character, you'll feel it as soon as you walk in the door. The ambiance nails everything that 3rd Wave coffee shops lost in their quest for the perfect, overpriced pour over: a comforting, communal vibe. 2) Personality: Strictly put, a personality of precisely One. The owner and barista, Greg, is a rare personality, someone who'll say hello when you walk in, ask you who you are, and remember you the next time you visit. He may give you a discount, or even a freebie, just because he's feeling generous. And if he closes shop, but hasn't cleaned the espresso lines, yet, he might open up just for you. 3) Coffee: Easily the best latte I've ever sipped, I'd label this stuff Golden Age coffee. Greg isn't asking you to discover the citrus and cinnamon notes in his Guatemalan blend, he's pouring a dank shot of an earthy buzz, flavored as you desire, and layered with a thick crema that holds in your paper cup as you trudge your way through your day. Get yourself to Espresso Fino. They are housed in a tiny venue on Gold Avenue, in the former Cafe Giussepe's. That fact and the highest standard of espresso are the only similarities. They brew an excellent espresso. The owners really care about the artistic crafting of great espresso. It's a very traditional and flavorful brew. And they are one of the very few places with long hours, showing they care about not just those who work Downtown, but also those who live Downtown. Not only are they open evenings, they are also open Sundays, which is practically unheard of Downtown. And to add a bit of stardust to their well-deserved crown, they were open Christmas day. Christmas day! Their espresso alone makes them a standout favorite in all of Albuquerque. Their hours knock them out of the ballpark as a superstar. You won't be disappointed. read more

We dropped by Espresso Fino because it was convenient, and I'm really glad we did. I loved the Caramel Macchiato! It was perfect. There weren't many baked goods available, but the Chocolate Almond Croissant was delicious! Yum. Service was terrific. The barista was a pleasure to chat with. Espresso Fino is a small bit-o-heaven. While minute in stature, Espresso Fino is big and bold where it counts. Even five people deep, everyone waits patiently for their cuppa, knowing it's going to be lovingly and thoughtfully made to order. The creator (and owner I believe) does not rush, and takes every second he needs to make utter magic. We visited 14 states this year, and the honey still feels this was the very best Cappuccino he's ever had. Hands down. It's $70 to fly to New Mexico from California to get coffee here. The minute you walk in you are greeted by Greg with a friendly smile. He makes your coffee and insists you try it first before leaving. If it's not to your liking he'll change it until it is. I've had this coffee shop bookmarked for over a year and I finally made it! This is probably one of the BEST lattes I've ever had. I ordered an almond syrup latte and it looked and tasted like perfection. I made the realization today that I usually order flavoring in my lattes to cover up the taste of bitter coffee beans. The guy behind the counter (sorry, I didn't catch his name) made sure I walked out of the shop with the best cup of coffee. I actually thought my drink was too sweet, so he offered to fix it. Honestly, I don't think my latte needed any flavoring, and next time I'm going to try it without the syrup. My latte had a smooth taste and the foam was nice and creamy (and I don't even like the foam!) If this place was closer to my house or on my way to work, I'd definitely be in more often. Came because I read that it was the best coffee in Albuquerque and left thinking it was certainly the best cup I had while there. This was a cute little pitstop on the way back home from ABQ to LA. Enjoyed drinking a cup of coffee, while people watching near the window. The Chai was out of this world amazing, great amount of spices including ginger (which you usually don't get). The owner/barista was accommodating to my little cousin's weird requests. And I enjoyed him calling almost each customer by name. I ordered the cortado, my only qualm was the beans were too roasted, making it very bitter and not very balanced (I don't like adding sugar to cortados). But it was still executed very well. Yes yes and yes!!! If you are seeking an excellent source of coffee, especially espresso type, you've come to the right place here! The barista, who i think is the main source and brilliance behind all these magestic drinks, he assisted me in my quest for the perfect blend of espresso and steamed milk. I originally inquired about his cortada drink as other customers in line swear by it. He asked, What do i usually drink? I told him an americano or latte. So he explained that the cortada is a small drink but super strong espresso, stronger than a latte. So he said he would make me a specialty mix between the 2. And the end result was flawless! Just the right amount of espresso to get my senses revived at last that morning without the bitterness. It was so smooth and creamy and i didn't even need to add any sweetening agent to take away the bitterness since it was already perfectly smooth. Just heavenly and rich! The one guy who explained it to me was right to say that its almost like a dessert! Its rare to see 5 stars averaged out after almost 200 reviews, and the fact that this spot has that, it reflects the true quality of product and service. Super reasonable prices too!
