A few weeks before traveling to Evergreen for an area wedding I had tried to book a blowout appointment at at least different 3 salons that either never called or emailed me back. Thank goodness I found Essence! Very friendly appointment staff booked me a couple of weeks out at a perfect time and I was fortunate to have stylist Dang do my hair so beautifully...I highly recommend this hair salon to anyone traveling to Evergreen! I recently moved to Evergreen from the east coast and was overdue for a haircut, plus I needed to restyle for a new climate. I did not bring any photos to my appointment with Dang because I wasn't sure what style would work, and I'm growing out color to return to my natural hair color. Those are big challenges for any stylist. That said I didn't get the feel that the stylist was at all focused on what I was asking for, and I walked out with a cut that did not come together at all. It did not suit my lifestyle preferences that I shared with her of a regular swimmer who needed a "scrunch and go" style, nor did the style reflect a move from humidity to cold, dry air. My other hesitation about the salon were the multiple messages about their cancellation policy when I initially booked the appointment. Nothing wrong with this, but that was my introduction to the business and it did not give me an upbeat feel. Today I had my hair recut at another salon (for half the price) and I'm a happy camper once again. read more

First time here, certainly won't be the last. Salon is very asthetic and organized. Beautiful decor and set up. Front desk personelle was friendly and welcoming. Comfortable waiting chairs and Hair Care Stations. Bathroom was emaculate and well stocked. They obviously take pride in their salon. Kristin KNOWS thick curly hair. She got me a cut that has longevity and doesnt add bulk. She also went through hair care routine and styling. Super helpful and informative. I felt very comfortable letting her cut my hair. My mom, sister and sister in law came here for wedding prep for my sister in law. My mom and sister in law got their hair and makeup and I got my hair done. Holy wow! The make up was top notch and we were all so happy with our hair. The vibe is very laid back and calm. I cannot say enough good things about this place and their staff. Essence was perfect for my wedding! As the bride, I did a trial hair do and then my entire bridal party, my mom, and my grandmother came in the day of the wedding to get our hair done. The top floor of the salon is amazing for the bridal package! Everyone gets mimosas, snacks, chocolate covered strawberries and the entire salon was so nice. We couldn't have asked for more. Dang was my stylist and I asked her to suggest a color. My cut and color turned out great. I am getting compliments from just about everyone I see (I got a noticeably different color- for the first time in my life). I highly recommend this salon. What a dreadful, disappointing experience. Had acrylic nails and a pedicure. After 24 hours, my nails were crumbling and broken. ONE DAY. The edges along the cuticle were ragged, the nails brittle and breaking. The french manicure was poorly done and uneven. The pedicure had swaths of color missing along the nails edges. When I went back to have the nails simply taken off and the pedicure corrected, I was greeted by the owner who offered no apology and didn't ask to see what a terrible job had been done. I gave her another chance when I was leaving and still nothing. When I got home I discovered that I wasn't even given a full refund! I will never, ever darken the door of this establishment again. Today I spent time my best friend...she is a super loyal customer of Essence..... Wow!!!! this time she had a new haircut and hairdo.....she looks younger, more feminine, more modern, prettier! Kim, her stylist, did this super job on her. Kim: my friend looks super!!!! I highly recommend Kim and her Essence Salon....besides being a sweetheart, she knows what she is doing and is always customer oriented. I have been there too and she does amazing creations! What a relaxing escape! Whenever I visit Essence I feel completely pampered. I enjoy the tea and cookies if I have to wait for a service. Kim does amazing things with color and style. She did my cut, color and style for my wedding which was absolutely perfect. Aaron gave me the most wonderful prenatal massage. I've had similarly great experiences with pedicures and manicures. The atmosphere is so warm and peaceful. I wish I could spend more time there! read more

I saw somewhere on their site that this is a relaxing getaway, but I didn't experience that at all. Loud hair dyers right next to the door so the first thing you hear is noise. The waiting area was cramped with only 3 people because there's so much product taking up space. The skin service I received was fine, but there's not much relaxation to be found here. read more
