    Whole belly clam

Fried whole belly clams, onion rings, fritters and coleslaw are our standard at Essex Seafood. Just remember, cash only! We arrived around 12:30 on a Saturday to a fairly empty parking lot - good for us as that meant no wait. More diners arrived after us but there was still ample seating for everyone. Service is exceedingly fast. We had our piping hot food in a matter of minutes from ordering. In fact, we were leaving the restaurant 30 minutes after arriving with very full bellies. Portions are huge, prices on par with coastal New England seafood restaurants. Product tastes great. Well worth the hour drive from the northern section of The Villages. Nothing fancy inside and out for decorations, but we come for the food!

I have to tell you that I come from Essex Massachusetts and have eaten at Essex Seafood 1 for many years. Howie is an old friend ! The quality of the seafood at Essex Seafood two is, every bit as good as the original, and possibly, better ! If you like Northern seafood and shellfish, this is the place to eat. Regards, Jack Hill

This is my go to place for fried whole belly clams. The food is fresh, hot and a lot. All is very clean and they're very helpful. This is a place that I go to even though I am over an hour away. Don't over think it, take a drive for great food. This is a place worth the trip. Enjoy!!

Oysters were fabulous! It was a Sunday afternoon and this little place was packed with! I had the "boat". Fried oysters, one side, my choice was a baked potato which I took to go as the oysters were what I wanted to use my appetite for! I was not disappointed! Very casual, tables are close, service is quick and friendly. Need to head that way again for the clams!'

Combo plate with whole belly clams & fish sandwich with fries! Service was fast and friendly, the place could use a bit of updating...but, fresh fish from New England is what makes this a great spot to visit. They keep it on the cool side, so you may want to bring a sweater if you get cold easy!

A must stop if you are passing by ! We were in a trip to Jacksonville and were passing through not much to eat so we figured we would give this a try and omg amazing. Already planning the next trip back Must try hush puppies and the white mac and cheese FRESH MAINE LOBSTER !! Whole belly clams The prices were so reasonable I was shocked I haven't had this good of seafood since being back in Connecticut. The vibe literally feels like your up north . Service was amazing the girls were so nice ! Five stars for sure I wish we had something like this close to the house !! Make sure to check out the specials !!

This place is cash only so plan ahead!! They are closed on Tuesday's. Beer and wine are by the bottle only. The food...OH MY GOD is to die for!! Hubby and I shared a clam strip plate with fries and onion rings with a side of hushpuppies. Ya'll.... This was the best, most tender, and juiciest clams I have had in my life. The plate is piled high with fire and onion rings and all was delicious! The breading for the clams is the same for the onion rings and was soooooo good! Service is friendly and frequently checking in to see if everything was good. Just great southern hospitality! The ambience was at lunch time and obviously a local favorite! It was packed! We got one of the last two tables available.

Fried whole belly clams, yum yum!!

Yes! But you have to pay cash! Food was delicious but it means I have to go by the bank before I go there.

The clam chowder was rich, hearty, and loaded with clams and other delicious ingredients. We also took advantage of their happy hour special with $1 raw oysters, which were fresh and delicious. The fried fish and fried shrimp specials were both excellent--lightly battered, perfectly cooked, plump, and juicy. We paired everything with a couple of beers and sweet tea, and it made for a fantastic meal. The service was outstanding. Lauren, our server, was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Brian and Mama were also so welcoming and accommodating, making us feel right at home. We really enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere, the clean restaurant (including the spotless restroom), and the background music, which was at just the right volume. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend Macker Seafood if you're looking for fresh seafood, great service, and a relaxed dining experience!

We had chowder, raw oysters, lightly blackened mahi-mahi and peel/eat shrimp. No complaints with any. Peel/eat shrimp came with potatoes and corn, too-- nice surprise. Mahi-mahi came with tasty fries. Just a simple little place with basic menu; I guess I was hoping for a bit more variety and different dishes, this being the 3rd day of seafood fest! No complaints at all, but there are other places in the area with very good seafood, full bar, seating on the water, etc. (I thought this place could probably charge much more, being just as it is, if it were anywhere near the actual beach or waterway).

Lucious Maine lobster, graced with yummy drawn butter on a soft, moist, toasted roll that could have been made just for this experience! Oh, had a lettuce bed to make it a healthy green salad, too. Opted for the cup, really almost a bowl, of their delicious New England Clam Chowder, the white, thick and creamy kind loaded with clams! They actually have the Original New England Clam Chowder crackers, too! Oh, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention their Jazzy's original Calamari appetizer, we enjoyed it when we ate there 5-6 years ago with our daughter, and it was still really good, though I remember a larger portion. They have done extensive renovations since then that look marvelous. Courteny was our server and she was great, very attentive and friendly. We pulled into the parking lot, where there was plenty of parking available. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, but we decided to sit inside. There's a mix of regular and high-top tables, so you can pretty much choose whatever feels comfortable. The restaurant definitely has that old town beach feel. There's wood everywhere, and the décor is designed with the ocean in mind. It's casual, relaxed, and exactly the kind of atmosphere you'd expect near the coast. They also have souvenirs for sale, including T-shirts and a few other items. For food, we ordered the 1/2 lb. Fresh Chargrilled Burger and the Surf & Turf Burger. First, the service was great! We were greeted and told to sit wherever we liked, and the good service continued throughout our meal. Of course, we had to try a couple of drinks too! We ordered the Apple Pie Old Fashioned and the Pineapple Upside Down. The Apple Pie Old Fashioned was really good. One of those drinks you could easily have three of before realizing it! The Pineapple Upside Down was good too, but it mostly tasted like a pineapple drink. Tasty, but not much of a buzz. Now, let's talk about the burgers. Both burgers were juicy and flavorful, but I was expecting a little more from the Surf & Turf Burger. There was actually a generous amount of lobster piled on top, and the lobster itself was cooked well. But after tasting it, I found myself wishing I had just ordered a lobster roll instead. For me, the flavor of the burger overpowered the lobster. Lobster has such a delicate, naturally sweet flavor, and I felt like some of that got lost once it was paired with the beef. But that's just me nitpicking and probably a sign that when I want lobster, I should just order the lobster! Overall, we had a good experience. Great service, a fun beach-town atmosphere, good drinks, and juicy burgers made this a nice stop before continuing on to Cocoa Beach.
