Quite the yummy dinner in Deland, FL. I didn't had reservations but was able to snag a table after an hour wait. The wait was worth it! We ordered the short ribs, piccanha, and prime rib. All three dishes were well thought out and executed. I want to go back soon! The atmosphere was very cozy and modern, service was attentive. Kinda feel back I forgot to take more photos before tearing into my meal...

Visited tonight for dinner, we had short ribs dinner, seafood chowder and creme brûlée. Oh and a lemon drop martini. Everything was very good. Service was great and manager was very attentive. I will definitely return

Hands down, the best dining experience in DeLand! Love this new(ish) addition to downtown dining. Hip and trendy vibe with a fresh pressed juice cocktails, great food and incredible service (shout out to Hunter!). We started with cocktails - Thymes Up and Spiked & Spicy. They were excellent and had the freshest fruit garnishes. The chef sent our boiled peanuts (an amuse-bouche), which we thoroughly enjoyed. For dinner, we had the Chicken and Dumplings (little round biscuits of goodness), Filet (love the peppercorn rub), Hangar Steak (special, super flavorful) and Grouper (special, most beautiful presentation ). For sides, we had crispy smashed potatoes (favorite), Brussels and asparagus. Everything was great! We ended the evening with both desserts- Orange Lavender Crème Brûlée (best I've ever had) and the matcha cheesecake (amazing). It was the perfect ending to our night out.

We were on vacation in deland and decided to eat here on our first night. The service and food was so amazing we had to go back on our second night. The service and food was just as amazing as the first night. Beautiful vibe inside as well. This place is a true hidden gem.

This is a small kind of out of the way place that is well worth the visit. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. They prepare everything fresh, Nothing frozen. I had the fresh catch which was sword fish. My life had the shrimp and grits. We each had the tomato and cucumber side salad and split an order of charred Brussels sprouts. Everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious.

I'm gonna start off by saying that we are not locals. This place always suggested by a coworker of mine who is a local said that has a lot of food options but this is gonna be one of the best. Our meal was on a Friday night and I would suggest a reservation because they have limited seating . Our waiter was great he gave us excellent suggestions. We tried two different wines to figure out which ones suited us best. We're definitely sweet juice wine people. At the start of the mail, you get a small gourmet order of boiled peanuts, which definitely resembles the texture of a bean like a chickpea , I am a textured girl. I cannot eat those. They're not for me because of the texture however they were seasoned and smelled amazing. My Husband ate the whole plate and he's never had anything like that before. My Husband had the salmon grilled with grits and french fries , the grits had brie cheese in them, which was totally different again one of those dishes. My Husband has tried before but in a breakfast setting without cheese he enjoyed them. I told them there's 1000 ways to make grits and some people can do it great, regular shoestring potato fries they were good. The salmon it was a little dry, but it was well seasoned and pretty good other than being dry. I ordered the prime rib with mashed sweet potatoes and a salad . The salad is a bit of spring mixed with white oil and vinegar dressing decent as a salad., the master whipped sweet potatoes were good. I didn't expect them to be savory. I expected them to be sweet, but they had a nice savory taste with a note of sweet very good. The prime rib was super tender and delicious. I really enjoyed it. It is just a lot of meat for one person and I thought My Husband would eat the rest of my meat and he did not cause he likes his meat well done. When you enter, there's a large wrap around retro couch. It's such a beautiful color. It fits the vibe nicely They have a few hidden gyms throughout the restaurant like check out the wallpaper that's my little hit Is a very cute place. There's a bar right in front. We definitely enjoyed our meal. The service was amazing and it was cool to see the cooking staff from the window. Prepare all the dinners

This place looks really cool inside. You step in and it looks like you're gonna spend way more than what I did. Thanks to their lunch menu, you can eat in such a nice ambiance at a very reasonable price. The service was really good, everyone was friendly and helpful. No complaints at all. Then only think that took the 5th star away was the food. My salad was extremely sour, and the sandwich was good, but nothing super special. I expected a little more flavor. I'd definitely come back to try other things.

Love coming here for the whole vibe of this restaurant. The food here is always excellent along with the friendly service you get! This trip my friend and I got the Chicken Croque Monsieur and the 3 sides, Whipped Sweet Potato, Fried Smash Potatoes, and Carrots à L'Orange. I was able to add a grilled chicken breast, to have a little more protein. I also love getting a Cold Pressed Juice while I'm here. I winded up getting the delicious Chocolate Espresso Martini for dessert, because they no longer have the croissant beignets since they changed their menu. I will miss them so much, because no one else in town is making these little delicious pieces of fluffy dough heaven, that were served with 3 little dipping sauces. I hope the chef brings these back!

After seeing the Crab Cake Skillet on FB page I had to stop in for Brunch. Very engaging place with a laid back vibe. Table games are there for those waiting. I knew what I was getting before I left the house. The pics on FB made it very easy. Their menus are being finalized and the have established lunch and dinner hours, closed Monday and Tuesday. Service is immediate and driven by teamwork. Not noisy, hovering or in the way. Coffee is strong. The Crab Cake Skillet is nuts. The focaccia is just right to serve up the crab cake with hollandaise draped all over. Just amazing. Looking forward to many happy returns. Congratulations and nice job!

We loved everything about this place except that you can't sit at the bar. The carrot ginger martini was amazing. I love that it is made with fresh pressed juice. The meatloaf and potatoes Au gratin were delicious and you can definitely taste the care that goes into them. Not sure what kind of cheeses they use but the flavors are so good. We had fantastic service and look forward to returning.

This place has a cool vibe. Comfy couches and neat seating areas. Everyone is so welcoming. The food was really good. One of my favorites were the creamed greens. The beet and carrot drinks were so good. The desserts were really good if I had to leave one out it would be the beignets. Though they were still good. Everything was seasoned really good. I would definitely go back!

Now, don't let the rustic, timeworn ambiance fool you. It's all part of the charm! The warm hospitality, wallet-friendly prices, and downright delicious food make this a must-stop for locals and travelers alike. We indulged in a feast of true Florida flavors, starting with crispy Fried Green Tomatoes, perfectly seasoned Gator Bites, tender Frog Legs, and flavorful Conch Fritters. Each bite had us nodding in approval, but the real star of the meal? The Gator Burger--a juicy half-pound blend of gator and pork, topped with lettuce, tomato, and their signature spicy cream sauce. Served with golden Hush Puppies, it was absolute perfection. For seafood lovers, the Fried Ponga (whitefish) was light, flaky, and cooked just right. And just when we thought we couldn't eat another bite, we made room for dessert--the Apple Blossom, a warm, sweet treat that wrapped up the meal beautifully. Shady Oak Restaurant truly captures the heart of Florida dining--simple, delicious, and served with a smile. If you do choose to eat there know that all the dishware is disposable plastic - they do use good sturdy plates but it's a bit of a disservice to their beautifully plated sushi to be served on plastic. Service is good as long as they're not busy. We were the only dine-in patrons and were told to grab a takeout menu and sit where we liked. We did the mental gymnastics of "do we order at the counter or will they come to us?" and the cashier must have been telepathic because she headed over a second later (the answer is it's preferred to order at the counter if they're busy). The food is decent for the cost with some highs and some lows. The Krab Don was fantastic and presented adorably. The spicy tuna roll had much needed tempura crunch inside which gives it a better texture than just minced tuna. The crunchy salmon roll tasted a little fishy and the shrimp in the shrimp and scallop hibachi was way overcooked though I give them kudos on the scallop not being overcooked. Hibachi veggies, noodles, miso and clear soups, and house salad all standard, nothing great but decent. The sushi rice was a bit dry and bland but I didn't get any nigiri so it might be better in quantity. They do thoughtful presentation, though, with carved veggies and cute wasabi leaf designs. It's very much a place you go to for value rather than quality. I'd equate the hibachi to what you'd get at the mall - decent and filling but nothing special. Sushi is on par with Publix but I believe at a better price point.

Next, we had chicken schnitzel and jaeger schnitzel covered in mushroom gravy with spaetzle and sauerkraut or red cabbage served warm with a hint of cinnamon. Portion sizes were good to excellent. Service was SLOW. Our table was the first seated just before 6 pm. First out was a slice of banana bread cut into four strips followed by a basket of delicious and slightly sweet bread. Over the two hour meal, there were only 3 tables of diners in the restaurant, 4 staff including the twins and chef, yet things took a very long time to come out to the table. Service was very slow by American standards so be prepared for that. We overheard another table asking about substituting and the server always had to go ask - it doesn't seem that substitutions are encouraged or welcome. Sides are set by the chef and you can choose your soup du jour or salad (side or cucumber). Buyer beware that soda refills DO cost 99 cents ‍
