He arrived on time, wore shoe covers before entering, and immediately took the time to explain what he would be checking on our Carrier system. Throughout the visit he walked us through the process in plain language, including airflow checks, refrigerant pressures, blower performance, and overall system efficiency. He also cleaned the outdoor unit and cleared the drain lines as part of the inspection. During the inspection he discovered some biological growth inside the system. Instead of pushing a sale, he calmly explained the options and the reasoning behind them. We decided to install a UV air purification system, which he installed and tested during the visit. What impressed us most was the honesty and clarity. There was no pressure, just good information and fair pricing. The whole experience reminded us of what service companies used to be -- fair, knowledgeable, and respectful of the customer's home. We had a couple of leaks in a pipe in our basement. Based on conversations with an Estes plumber and the age of our house we decided to replace all the copper pipe. They told us this was 1 to 1 and 1/2 days so plan on 2 to be safe. It is now the end of 2 long days and they still have at least a half of day remaining. So we will be without water now until they finish the job. They only sent 2 people for this job and one appears to be a trainee. The first day they began cutting into walls, ceilings all over the house without putting any protective cloth anywhere. I had to stop them to have our our hardwoods cleaned off and a cloth put down before continuing. I cleaned the floor and they put down a cloth. Later, when they moved to cut a bunch of the. Telling out of our kitchen they moved that same cloth in there. Then continued more work in the original area once again getting drywall pieces and dust all over the hardwoods. Their tools were also scattered in our floors with no protection. After day 1, I had to point out another area they missed cutting for accessing our master shower. They originally cut a completely unrelated wall that was the back of our closet and had no pipes anywhere near it. This company does not know what the hell they are going. Can't plan or schedule, don't send enough knowledgeable plumbers, do not protect your floors in the process and price is very high! I have a service agreement with them that I will be immediately cancelling after this work is completed. Do NOT use this company! read more

Sent photos of 3 Y ducts and boots that needed to be replaced. On Friday, July 18th, I noticed that our Ecobee thermostat was not showing anything on the display--it had gone completely black, and the upstairs air would not work. Thinking it could be something covered under warranty, I contacted Estes because they installed both HVAC systems: one in 2018 and one in 2022. The technician showed up on Saturday. He went into the attic and came to let me know we had a low-voltage short. He said he needed to diagnose where it was coming from. He claimed that there were only two options: run a wire from the attic down the side of the house to the AC to restore the air and pay over $900 for a Redlink with a new thermostat--this option would take several days because part had to be ordered. He proceeded to run the wire a,d I told him we definitely could not pay that kind of money for the additional item. When he finished, he said it would be $700 for everything he did. I was shocked and knew I was being overcharged. Had I agreed to the other work, it would have been $1600. These people are crooks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called to voice concern and asked for a supervisor to come out on Monday, July 20th. They sent a senior tech, and he was no better. He emphasized that we needed this Redlink.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband asked him to just cover up the wire,e and he said, 'we don't do that'...So....you can run a wire down a house, making it and the neighborhood look bad; however, you don't know how to secure the wire to the customer's house? We called another well-known HVAC company to come out for a second opinion on July 22. They verified that we had been ripped off. Yes, we did have a low-voltage short; however, they should not have charged that kind of money to do what they did, and on top of it, leave the wire where they did on the house. The other company came back to put the wire in a PVC pipe like Estes should have done, and the tech verified we do not need a Redlink. So disappointed and through with Estes. They are scammers. SAVE YOUR MONEY!! Service Inspection and Preventative Maintenance Clients!! Don't expect to get what you pay for or the "Peace of Mind" Estes Services (Estes) offers. Nor, can you count on its "tradition" of "Integrity & Quality. As a senior citizen and recovering cancer patient, I depended on Estes inspections and preventative maintenance contacts and reports to ensure the healthy and safety of my equipment. Based on Estes findings, I was of the belief my HVAC system was free of safety and health hazards. I was mortified, when a routine third party determined Estes had not been reporting, and allowed to persist, the following deficient findings (but not limited to): 1) Found "black stuff" inside supply plenum 2) Defective and non-working UV lighting system and defective ballast 3) HEPA filter hardwired to the furnace and non-working From information and belief, Estes knew or should have known the existing and dangerous conditions in Clients HVAC. As such, Estes should have reported these specific deficient findings so that Client had the opportunity to make necessary replacements and repairs. From information and belief, Client believes Estes by failing to report and or knowingly omit these findings from its paid report, Estes knew or should have known existed, Estes caused injury and or illness to Clients weakened state of health. I am VERY disappointed in my experience, even though it started out positively. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Justin, the sales rep, was very helpful and I paid my deposit for a new HVAC system right after Christmas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the customer service since it was installed has been less than optimal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The system has now shut down 3 times since it was finally installed on February 4th, more than a month after I paid the deposit. I paid almost $12K for it!. Este's says that the manufacturer has to send someone out to upgrade the computer in the system. WHAT!!?? Daikin delivered a new system to Estes that was not fully functional and Este's cannot fix it or honor their warranty? [[HIGHLIGHT]]No one can tell me when it will be upgraded. I just have to wait while it sporadically shuts down[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. All they could tell me was that I should totally turn it off, then turn it back on. That does get it started again, but this is supposed to be a brand new system. I think they should order me a new system from a different manufacturer that actually works. This is robbery! read more

Where to begin? Well, I came across Estes when I noticed a van or two in our neighborhood. Our AC unit went out after 12 years so we used their services to get a new unit for our condo. They sold us on the higher end unit aka Carrier that cost us I believe $4800 with discount. They even gave us a small discount for paying upfront in full. Great! Fast forward 2 years later, we noticed the unit had an issue of not being able to cool. It would takes hours to cool one degree and it would run all night. We have a Nest thermostat and were able to keep track of the run times and temps. Called them out on June 8, 2018 to check out the problem. Cody seemed a little unsure of the issue but then again all he did was connect his instrument to the unit via inside our condo and didn't offer to go to the roof to check. He seemed to misunderstand the issue and basically chalked it up to user error. Advised me to keep it at the temp we wanted and not set it to 77 while we are at work. The problem continued so we called them again. Alex came out on June 23, 2018. Told him our issue and he did his investigation and said the unit had too much Freon so he took out 2.5lb and check his readings and said that should do it. We noticed a slight improvement but the problem stayed the same. We kept the unit off for a few months (early November-May) bc we didn't need the AC. Cut it back on in May and guess what? The same exact issue! So Estes came out again on May 29, 2019 and this time the techs name was Lee. After he did his checks, he seemed puzzled so he called his supervisor or something to get advice. After the phone call they concluded that the TXV part had gone bad and needed to be replaced and that these things happen. Said the part should arrive in 2-3 days and it'll take two men like 4-5 hours. This visit cost $437 that includes the service contract. We went without AC for a week. Of course it was in the 90's and we had to "sleep" with the bedroom windows open and listen to all the traffic noise. Didn't realize how popular motorcycles are in the city until this happened. Anyway, on June 7 a tech named Nik came to replace the TXV part and maybe an hour or so later another man came to assist him. After they completed the job, Nik came in to check the readings and saw that they didn't appear right so he ran back to the roof to do something. He came back and checked again and I guess noticed a change and said we should start noticing a difference and left. We did notice a difference but I think that's only because we had no AC for a week and our bodies adjusted. This visit cost $383 Fast forward to June 21, 2019 when yet again we had to call because the unit wasn't cooling properly. Lee came back this time and did his investigation and reported to me that NOW the compressor needed to be replaced because it was basically dead. So, now we have a quote to replace the compressor which comes to $1200 plus an additional piece to help it function better or keep it functioning $300!!!!! They are insane!!! The unit is only 3 years old!! Our old unit didn't give us a problem until it died and it lasted 12 years. To sum it all up: we paid a hefty price for a higher end unit that has given us nothing but problems. We've had 4 different techs come out at different times to "fix" the problem. And I'm done with their "these things happen" response. I'm done wasting my time and money. Lesson learned. read more

Do not use Estes!! We used them for years up until they screwed us over by installing both a hot water heater and a PRV incorrectly. A plumber from another company had to call and explain what they did wrong so they could send someone out to correct the problem. The guy who installed things incorrectly didn't even check the water pressure before he left and there were several things he missed doing when installing both the hot water heater and the PRV. They hire incompetent workers who don't care about the quality of their work. They also left several things from the old hot water heater that they didn't haul away. Even the plumber who had to come correct the problem said it was an awful job. The PRV wasn't even connected properly!!! After they called themselves correcting the problem, fast forward 2-3 months later and we keep hearing a foghorn sound when flushing the toilet or running water. Come to find out it's the PRV. Don't waste your time with this company. I am so tempted to call out the name of the technicians but I'm sure they won't get fired. Do better Estes. You lost a loyal customer. Not sure if you deliberately took advantage of us or what but for now on I will be using Mr Plumber. They care about their customers and do high quality work. read more

They came to do an annual check up on a 2 year old unit. The bottom unit stopped working 24 hours later. They said it was a coincidence and that my evaporator coil just happened to break and drain my entire unit that same day. I asked that the unit be filled back with refrigerant to the level it was at the time of service, that they verify that the schrader valve is functioning appropriately and that they recheck the unit in 6 months. If the levels are down again, I am happy to move forward with repair. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Despite multiple back and forth exchanges, the company would not even entertain they could have made an error.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When asked to explain how you differentiate between a damaged evaporator coil vs a technician causing a leak, the response I got from the regional operation manager was as follows: "[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]Despite many attempts to explain this I cannot explain it to you in a way that can help you understand. The only way someone can cause a refrigerant leak is to intentionally damage an evaporator coil. Simple as that. We didn't do anything to damage your unit and I will not be responding to any additional emails. If you feel like we did I would encourage you to contact the local police and file a report. Otherwise this issue is over according to Estes. " read more

I've been a customer of Estes for many years. They installed two HVAC systems in my current home and have maintained and serviced those same systems since install. Technicians have generally been courteous, prompt, and appear to be well trained and competent. However, in the last few years I have noticed a shift to recommending/selling services, add-on's or replacements and feel like the maintenance contract has been used as an opportunity to just sell. I've done some of these recommended services with a goal of keeping my systems working their best and avoiding a costly replacement. This Summer, at my regular maintenance appointment, the tech noted that one of my systems didn't have optimum "numbers" but put it down to age of the system and didn't recommend any specific service or further diagnostics at the time. I had recently replaced (on their recommendation) a significant part of that system so was a little bummed that the system might be failing. Of course, one week later it quit cooling. The repair tech that came out, did a coolant reading and declared that I needed a new system. No repairs were suggested, no further diagnostics provided despite prodding from me. (I was told anything I did would just be money down the drain). Within 2 days a salesman came out to quote a system replacement. The quote was crazy high (20k+) including rebates and discounts. I spent the next few days getting quotes from a couple other companies for comparable systems. None was even near what Estes was quoting me. Some were the exact same equipment and didn't include rebates. One company was slow to get back to me so I called another on my list. "Company G" came out promptly but after looking at my system felt like the issue was a leak in the recently installed part. They did diagnostics and indeed, that was the problem. I went back to Estes because that part was just DAYS out of warranty. After some back and forth (and Estes duplicating the diagnostics) they did agree to cover the replacement (not that I should have had to ask). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The amount of time spent trying to get this resolved, in the middle of the summer with no AC was aggravating and definitely an eye opening experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I happily paid Company G for their diagnostic services and even though they didn't get the sale this summer they will be getting my business going forward. To called because I was having electrical issues,couldn't find anything so I asked for a service ticket. They sent a tech out by name of Evan. He started panel inspection and asking what was wrong, I explained, me them started trying to upsell a household surge protector for ac and refrigerator which I told him I just wanted to find root cause. He said everything looked great on panel and wanted to look at other areas. He checked a plug in socket and said of o see the problem your heater melted it out. I explained it couldn't be heater, it was just bought and nothing on plug, prongs or anyplace showed any melting or burned spots. He got upset and said he can leave if i dont like what I'm saying regardless of what I was explaining and left. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called main office to report. First they offered to come out next day, them turned around and said the office manager named Ayda told her that if I want someone to come out then I need to pay $79 because they already sent a tech out regardless of what happened.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm a disabled vet on oxygen and two children on breathing machines and that showed me this company don't care about how their technicians treat customers and I will not stand for it. My heat stopped working last nite and called Estes this morning to fix it. The guy came and in 10 minutes told me that I needed $1000 worth of work and that everything works in a sequence and that it could be more if that doesn't work after he replace these two things. I told him no thanks and that I'll just rough it out and wait for my warranty company to come on Monday. The. Another repair company came after his visit and this new guy from All Stars Heating fixed it in less than an hr and only charged $200 and stayed to make sure the temp rises to my desired temp of 75! A total rip off and trying to take advantage over the holidays probably. Will never use them again! Horrible service! read more

This has been a horrible experience. I left a very long Google review about how dissatisfied I have been with services. I had an HVAC system that was leaking but was working and cooling my home. The service repairman has been to my home twice. After the 2nd visit, it took him hours to work on the system and he had to leave and return to get a correct part. He returned only to inform me that they didn't have the part and he would need to put back my old parts until they were in. He put back the old parts but he could not get the system back up and running. It tooks hours while my house sat at 84+ degrees. It finally came back on by 8pm. However, my system is no longer cooling my home efficiently and my temp is registering at 78 with a thermostat setting of 71. I've paid for services and now have a system that is working less efficiently than before the servicing. The quotes keep going up and the only response was a paltry apology for the inconvenience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to call customer service and press to get someone else out to my home tomorrow morning and keep sharing my complaints before I was told someone would call me to address my concerns.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In this heat, this is unacceptable and very poor service. I have known and done business with Tommy Estes for more than 40 years and three HVAC Systems but I do not recognize the company based on my latest shocking Furnace Inspection. When the technican finished he said that he would need to come back because he did not have the right filter size. I thought this was strange because this was not the first time that Estes has inspected this furnace. So, after two weeks elapsed and no Estes Technician calls to come back with a new filter, I purchased one and went up to my attic and I was shocked! The filter had been removed from the filter housing and thrown about 6+/- feet away from the furnace, See attachec photo. To make matters worse, the metal cover to the filter housing was laying on the attic floor as well and that meant my heated air was escaping into the attic. I wrote a letter to Tommy and mailed it by US Priority Mail with tracking information, but the Post Office could not deliver the letter, even though I used the address shown on Estes website and on my Invoice. Needless to say I will not be doing any more buisiness with Estes HVAC. read more

I'm disappointed with how much I was charged for my last Estes Services visit. My HVAC system had a clogged drain line and Estes charged me $445 for what was essentially clearing the line and sucking up water that had overflowed into the pan beneath my water heater. The total price for the work done seems a bit outrageous to me. Here was the breakdown on my invoice: Cod004 - Clear blocked drain with nitrogen/CO2 - $186 Cod003 - Clean secondary drain pan - $180 Dpm501 - Diagnostic/inspection 1 system - $79 Total - $445 I agreed to the charges up front, but looking back, I probably should have shopped around. I've been a regular Estes customer since 2009. I had them install one of my HVAC systems and they've come out to perform routine maintenance and fix problems over the years. In 2016, Esli and Levy replaced a bad capacitor in my heat pump. Later in the year, Esli came back, that time with Alex, and they replaced a bad variable speed blower motor inside my air handler. (During those visits, 2 techs instead of 1 had to come out due to complications with accessing the condominium's roof where the heat pumps are located.) A few weeks ago, Stan cleaned my drain line and pan. All of the employees I've interacted with, both the reps on the phone and the techs in person, have been friendly and professional. The techs seem to have good availability (they can usually see me within 1-2 business days) and the quality of the work has been great. I just question Estes' pricing and value on this latest job. Stan modified my existing drain line by adding a piece of piping that I could unscrew to clear plugs myself in the future. He also did a thorough check-over of my air handler and heat pump to make sure it was in good working order. One thing Stan discovered was that Estes, who installed this HVAC system for me years ago, originally told me the wrong filter size for my air handler. One of Estes installers even wrote the incorrect air filter size with a marker on the air filter access door. For years, I've been using (or had my tenants use) standard 16 x 20 x 1 filters when I should have been using 16.5 x 21.5 x 1 (a special/custom size filter). Since the wrong size filter had been used all these years, the coils inside my air handler were only getting partial coverage. Of course, they got dirty and rusty. Stan cleaned them for me free of charge because Estes told me the wrong filter size to use from the beginning. Stan found the correct filter size for my air handler and I ordered correct-size filters from Amazon. In total, the appointment lasted about 2 hours. I thought Stan was fantastic and he did an excellent job. Some HVAC service companies waive the diagnostic/trip fee if work is performed, but not Estes. Even if the $79 diagnostic fee was waived, $366 still seems like a lot to clear a drain line, suck up water from a drain pan with a shop vac ($180 for this service alone seems ridiculous), and inspect the system. I'm thinking $200-300 would have been a more reasonable price for this job, but I'm not in the business. I'm also disappointed Estes told me the wrong filter size to use when they installed my system. The equipment may not last as long as a result. Needless to say, I'll be looking elsewhere when I need HVAC work done in the future. read more

My AC wasn't working so Estes came out. Tech said it was the contactor and he had to replace it and it would cost $280 for the part. It wasn't under warranty because it had been replaced 18 months ago. I take the box where the contactor came in as he's replacing it and look up the part online. It costs less than $20 for the same exact part and brand. That's nearly 15x the markup on the part. read more

I had a condo AC replaced by them. Without asking me, they chopped off the bottom part where you put the filter and added a shoddily cobbled together extension "to have an easier to find filter size." Well, not more than a year later, the added part falls apart/and is broken due to their shoddy construction and keeping it together with only tape. Poor quality work over all. I would have preferred to have the original sized filter and a factory manufactured seal rather than their home made garbage. read more

Beware of Estes Services! I've had a service agreement with them for over 5 years. A new technician came out yesterday and suggested I get $3700 worth of unnecessary garbage and up to 10 pounds of Freon @$190 per pound that would cost $1900! My unit is old but has been running great for 5 years straight with 2 visits a year with my maintenance agreement. My gut told me this new guy was trying to frighten me into getting at least the Freon. He knew the temperature would reach 90 degrees this weekend. After I asked him to leave. I had another HVAC person come out and was told that the technician was definitely trying to over sell me and get me to be happy getting the Freon and my system was running great. Do NOT schedule with Estes if you value your time. For the past 2 years, every appointment I have had with Estes HVAC and Plumbing has been cancelled during the day of the scheduled appointment. Today I called to make sure they were on their way as it was an "all day" appointment. Estes will not give a morning or afternoon window timeframe. At 2:00 pm I called to make sure Estes was really coming to my house (as they confirmed the day before) and was told they were not coming and too bad, but they were't going to show up! Don't waste your time with this company as it is clear they do not value their existing customers. I have had HVAC and Plumbing Maintenance Agreements with Estes for over 10 years, and paid in advance for their services. So sad Estes has become so unreliable. read more

Estes has screwed up at virtually every point of contact. Installers and service techs have arrived without the necessary supplies despite the work order (issued at least one day prior) being quite clear what the work was. In the latest fiasco, this wasn't even noticed until the tech was on his way at 2:30 pm, after I had spent all day waiting for him. I was promised the 8:00 first slot the next day; instead the tech arrived at 10:30 am after going somewhere else first, then (I realized later) didn't perform two of the three manufacturer-recommended annual service items on the unit. In a previous incident, the installer failed to maintain the water in our geothermal system, leading to me having to call the geothermal service techs (another company) to bleed the air Estes had introduced into that system. At this point, I wouldn't trust them to operate a faucet, let alone work on one. read more

They charge a large fee for just showing up and do not wave or apply it toward their work. Their business model is get what you can, as much as you can in a sellers market. There are plumbers more interested in fair business practices. read more

Their service call is too expensive. The service people are nice, and if it wasn't for my service person being so nice, I probably would've continued searching elsewhere. The service call plus the cost of service is what you will go broke on. The customer service from their technicians is what will keep them afloat. read more

Oh my gosh, Miguel (Vasquez) was so thoughtful and helpful!!! He gave me a lot of helpful information regarding my HVAC and attic! He also went above and beyond because that morning, I had found a puddle of water in my kitchen, so he even checked my plumbing under the kitchen sink while he was at my home for the biannual maintenance.
