We were greeted as soon as we entered - bar service was on point as well as table service - very nice, knowledgeable about the menu and additional options You could tell that the food was made fresh - crowd was decent - some tables around us but not a "packed" feeling.. was consistently busy throughout our visit. Rating: 4.3 Came to this restaurant from recommendation from my coworker for team bonding lunch event. It's an authentic Italian farm house style restaurant located on Main street on East Greenwich as well as few other locations in NY. We had a large group reservation made for lunch. It's a smaller restaurant but has 2nd floor which was where we were seated. Interiors are rustic with bricks and wines decorated around the wall inspiring of Italian farm house. They have large selections of wines and drinks and mainly Italian cuisine with specials. They serve some bread with capers and garlic in olive oil to start. We ordered few appetizers such as calamari, meat ball, and baked oysters. Appetizers were okay. I ordered prime rib steak for my entry and it was tasty. Nice and juicy. A bit fatty because of the cuts but was tender and did not have too much issue with tendons. Side of fries were crispy and Brussels sprouts were ok addition nothing special. Little bit of char and flavor on Brussels sprouts would have been nice touch. Would also prefer something acidic like sauce on the side to cut through the fatty meat. Aside from that the steak was good. I also got tiramisu for desert which was good but was not anything exceeding expectation. Service was excellent and waitresses were very nice and attentive. Overall the place was good but may not be best value for the price. Solid upscale Italian place with good service. Unfortunately its not in particularly unique or must try in my opinion. read more

Asked for simple syrup ( there was no sugar on the rim) that didn't help but waiter did take it off the bill.thank you for that. He was nice and helpful. My how the mighty have fallen. This place used to be great a few years back. Andreas was the GM, the food was good and the quality was spot on. Unfortunately - they seem to be using worse and worse quality ingredients. I would never order seafood here again as the last time was slimy and tasted off. The notion that I can't even get a halfway decent chicken parm here is wild. The food is hovering right above "Olive Garden level". They haven't changed the decor or (seemingly) cleaned the place in a decade. The layers of dust there made me hit my inhaler twice in between apps and entrees. Respectfully you're really just paying for the area you are in and since it's historic you would assume it's going to be super pleasant but it's very overrated. They have 2 floors- downstairs was severely LOUD as soon as you walk in to the point I couldn't even hear the hostess she had to literally yell at me so I could hear her, the bar is directly across the host stand so that makes sense but not ideal. I immediately asked if we would be seated there or upstairs because I couldn't hear a thing downstairs. She told me we would be going upstairs, so I felt a sigh of relief. It was me and my sister having dinner - my sister was running late, but I was seated and I just told them send her up when she comes. I sat by myself at that table for 10 minutes with not one person coming up to me, asking me if I needed anything. No water, no bread, no greeting. Finally, the lovely Seth came over asking me if I wanted water, he was super pleasant. And I assumed that he was my waiter. He brought my water and then a minute after that another gentleman came over to the table greeted me and said his name, and said he would be my waiter. So I assumed that Seth was just the boss boy at this point. Now my sister arrives. And as she comes over to sit down another gentleman name Johnny said he was my waiter. By this point, I asked him who exactly is my waiter because I've had three people already come up to me. With him being the second person to said he was my waiter. He explained to me that the other person was covering and that he would now be my waiter. He apologized and said that they were all helping one another. That's how they work there. Okay fine very confusing though. We look at the menu - very basic menu. Not anything too fancy. And I kind of thought the prices were a little overrated for the food. Not to mention it's so crowded up there that if there was a fire, I felt like I wouldn't get out in time. When they bring other people's food, you could practically breathe on their food before they even get it because they place it directly in front of your table to hand it off to the next table that's how crowded it is. ( also if you're looking for a restaurant and you're looking for good lighting for pictures it's not going to happen here - the place is very pretty. Don't get me wrong but the lighting is very dim so you're not going to get good pictures just a heads up.) Now, anyways, back to the experience. So it was okay and the bill comes out. My sister checks it, and that drink was still on the receipt you know the drink that she took two sips of. So she told the waiter and the waiter said that the manager said to keep the drink on there. So she asked for a manager, his name was Jose. Jose very rudely said you took lots of pictures and videos with the drink. Okay? Don't you cheers and take pictures and videos before you ultimately drink your drink. To me this was extremely inappropriate and extremely rude. Yes we took pictures and videos that drink was 99% still full. I have the pictures. So to even insinuate to disrespect us that way it was absolutely disrespectful. He ended up taking it off the bill, but that comment right there was absolutely unacceptable and absolutely disrespectful Mr. Jose. The place is overrated I would never go again. Downstairs sounded like a bar. And upstairs is so crowded that you can breathe on your neighbors food. We had an amazing dinner at La Masseria, Peter Jr was our server and he was great. He really made the whole night extra fun! We appreciated how many specials they had for the night. My husband was especially excited to see that they would do chicken parm as a special, Peter suggested it with the pink vodka sauce, my husband went for it, and really loved it. I'm not a big chicken parm person, but the dish was delicious. I went for the homemade cheese ravioli and really enjoyed the dish. I thought the portions were plentiful. I of course also had to try some dessert. My favorite was the tiramisu. The strawberry cheesecake tasted a little more like a custard than a cheesecake, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. An upscale vibe, that's intimate but energized with some cool background music and lots of laughter from surrounding tables. People are here to enjoy good food and good company. Starter of burrata with prosciutto and tomatoes was nicely plated and tasty. Plenty for a party of four to share a light bite along with the bread basket. Gnocchi entree with shrimp with added shrimp for protein was cheesy rich sauced with a pillowly soft bite of the homemade pasta. Didn't sample the other's plates, but rave reviews on their dishes as well. The portions are GENEROUS. Entrees run $22-$45 and next time I think I'd lobby for plate sharing to sample more and order less (; gluten free and veggie options galore. The restaurant is very cozy and the table lights are amazing! However, the acoustics in the upstairs dinning room are not ideal. It was very loud. The service was good, but it was very hard to communicate and hear the specials because it was so loud. The food is why I am giving a 2/5. For the price of the food it was severely lacking. The fried zucchini was good, but bland. My partner got a seafood special and the pasta had no flavor and was well past al dente, borderline crunchy. My pasta dish was flavorful but again, the pasta was unimpressive. It was recommend that I try the chocolate flourless desert, but it was inedible. They were nice enough to comp the desert. The capri spritz really saved the meal and the margarita was Devine. I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, for the price tag that accompanies this experience, I was not return. read more

Simply continues to be one of the best Italian restaurants in li'l Rhody. Yes, I know, aficionados of Federal Hill will be turning and churning at this statement, but imo, it's the truth. Being November, it's truffle season again, and La Mass offers their wonderful truffle menu. It's expensive but well worth the annual splurge. We shared a double order of the fettuccini with fresh-shaved truffles and it was gloriously fragrant and flavorful. Oh yes - their other dishes were excellent as well: carpaccio/pistachio avocado salad/La Masseria house salad for starters; and for secondi, my fave veal scallopini al funghi was bangers, and my daughter's chicken battuta di pollo was surprisingly good. I struggled over this review. The restaurant is very beautiful, the service was great. The pasta was very good, but both dishes were lacking in flavor. The bolognese was nice and not greasy however it should have bolder flavor. The Lobster dish was very bland and the lobster was a bit over cooked. The deserts, the fruit had very little flavor, although it is out of season. Maybe they shouldn't serve it this time of year. The sorbet was very good. The ricotta cheese cake was almost there, but also needed a bit more flavor. We tried to have a wonderful meal tonight, but it just didn't cut it. Fine dining Italian style! Upscale Puglian Italian cuisine & wine served in a chic setting with a rustic, countryside vibe. Reservations required in the popular restaurant. Valet parking was efficient. Second time here and it was a great experience both times. The waiters are so competent, efficient, and helpful. No pad and pencil here. We ordered our favorite wine from Planeta winery in Sicily -- La Segreta Rossi, fruity and smooth. A complimentary appetizer of pencil thin fried zucchini topped with parmesan came to our table. Bowl of flavor packed lentils also served as a complimentary app. We asked for a second bowl to dip bread in. The bread basket included rustic Italian slices and a grainy loaf plus the best Bread Sticks to be found anywhere--crunchy, hard and tasting freshly made rather than stale and packaged. Salads were delicious and photos are included. Broccoli Rabe was one of the choices. Another was homemade mozzarella & eggplant topped with freshly roasted red peppers. As well as a very lack luster lobster pasta. For the popularity and price point and so called reputation, you would definitely expect better. This was our line in the sand and after a few tries and hopefulness we have decided this will definitely be our last visit. While our server was a pleasure and the service was a 3 star on a busy night, the quality was sub par with out a doubt. And that's not just this visit but the last 3 visits. On Saturday, Dec. 16, at 1:30, we had a wedding celebration at Masseria. I had always wanted to enjoy an experience in what I considered a delightful venue. I had made reservations and we did get the front table facing the street which I had requested. We got there at 1:30 and waited for approx 15 mins. for the other couple (my daughter, her husband and their two little ones.) No one provided us a drink--even water-- in that time. Finally, a waiter came and took our drink order and two appetizers--calamari and shrimp/scallops. Those two dishes were brought to our table. When we were almost finished eating them, a waiter brought two "boats" of sauce--which were supposedly for the calamari dish. The problem? We'd already finished most of the plates. Our waiter apologized for the slow service, explaining that he "was all alone"--the only one for all the tables. Next, the dinners. My husband (the groom) ordered a pork chop (bc it sounded appetizing). We ordered it "medium" or "pink." When it came, he took a bite and did not eat more. I asked why and he said "it's too tough." I looked and found it was well-done. I asked for a take-out container for it and took it with us, because I did not want to make a scene there. The little ones (6 and 3) could not have awaited another meal being made. I said nothing about all this at the time because it was our wedding lunch. I didn't want to create a negative feeling for all, but I did go back in, a day later and I brought the pork chop to show and I explained how disappointed we were with all the problems in our "wedding lunch." This was no inexpensive lunch for the bill was well over $300. Here's the part that really got to me. I was super-considerate in my reaction to all this and even took the temporary mgr with whom I spoke aside, so as not to embarrass him in front of other customers. I explained all that happened. I left my contact information so he could show his boss. When I never heard from his boss (not even an apology), I wrote the the mgr whose name appears on their website. Still, I heard nothing. As an aside, Masseria fashions itself on its advertising as a wonderful place for celebratory events. That was certainly not our experience. The four of us reserved a table on a Sunday afternoon in April 2024. The tavern-like atmosphere was nice with a good house Pinot Noir and Martini. We very much enjoyed the spinach walnut and pear salad and the egg yolk ravioli meal. Service was average as they had no duck entree available but, it took a while for waiter to come back and tell us, should have been more attentive with mineral water as well. Recommended. For 5 o'clock on a sunday it was very busy- many large parties. A few tables outside on the sidewalk. I had the chicken parm- which isn't on the menu but was delicious! With a plethora of Italian Restaurants around why pick La Masseria? I'd say because it's good and the menu offers more than the red gravy routine of the run of the mill Italian restaurants. I was eating light so I had two appetizers, the frito misto, light fried calamari and shrimp, and a stuffed mozzarella. Both were just what I was looking for. My companion had the carpaccio and a bucatini with a hearty meat sauce. Again delightful. The atmosphere is pleasant, the service professional and the wine list has a number of interesting offerings. Hi my husband and I haven't been here in some time. We went last night and most likely will not return. Pros: hostess, bartender who was also are sever was amazing. Food was okay. Biggest gripe was the atmosphere. Our bill was close to $200.00 which is what we expected, however the noise from this one patron was inexcusable. A party of 6 were seated at table behind bar.This woman was Screeching loudly throughout dining experience. Honestly if this was a sports bar or not a fine dining place it is what it is. In any event been to numerous fine dining places on the hill and are favorite one in Cranston. We never had meal ruined by such unnecessary screaming screeching noise. read more

Originally wanted to give it a 3.5 but now might be closer to 2.5~3.....We got here for a 5:30 reservation on a Saturday, there is valet so no struggle trying to find parking on Main Street. We were seated promptly upstairs by the window. Our server, Ian was very friendly and attentive. We started with the stuffed mozzarella which truly was the star of the night, it's fresh pulled at the restaurant and the balsamic dressing complimented it so well. The bread basket came with lentil olive oil, something different but it was good. We were off to a good start! I ordered a Moscato (not listed in the wine section as it's a dessert wine). It was good but a very light pour for $8.50. My bf had a red sangria that he enjoyed. I ordered the chicken breast stuffed with spinach/fontina with a cherry tomato sauce that came with a side of potatoes and brussel spouts. My bf ordered the veal scaloppina which also came with the same veg sides. I liked my dish, the fontina added a nice flavor to the chicken and spinach and the cherry tomato sauce was delicious, very nice touch to the dish. My bf thought said the veal was just ok, nothing spectacular. The veggies were just ok as well - lightly seasoned and a bit plain. What brought it down a notch was when I received my to go container, I noticed it was very small - it was bagged and tied up so I didn't check it. I had only eaten half my chicken and there was a good portion of veggies still left on my plate. I thought maybe they just squeezed everything into one small container. Well surprise surprise when I went to grab it to pack for lunch, only chicken - no veggies at all and barely any of the delicious tomato sauce that came with my chicken dish. I understand it is just veggies but we paid for a full meal and should've received it in our take out container. I've never experienced something like this before. Where did my leftover sides go? The management staff is incredibly rude and most waiters appear disinterested. We were told we needed to wait even though we came with a reservation. Fine, my friends and I have all waited before; however, we were shocked at how many times the manager and hostess kept coming up to us to ask if we had a reservation. After 30 minutes we were finally seated. We were given no drink menus and the girl as the hostess stand was super weird when we asked for one. After an hour we finally had a waiter stop by to take our order and check on the table. The food was fine but the service is not worth it. We felt unwelcome and we all eat at nice places all the time. If you are not an East Greenwich local skip this spot. The oyster bar across the street is way better! read more
