While I've seen Dr. Houlihan here a few times, the reason I've gone back again and again is Emily McWaters. For the first time in my life, I feel that I really have someone who listens to me and helps me solve the actual root of my medical issues instead of throwing me whatever drug the last pharmaceutical rep in the office was pushing. She's really wonderful. My one complaint about this place is the front desk staff. They are incredibly loud and will speak in full voice about your personal information to the entire room. By far the least professional front office staff ever encountered ! I have been going here for years for a monthly blood draw. I should have left years ago, its like a bad relationship, now that its over I wonder why I went back and put up with the abuse month after month. Just close to my home, and they take my insurance. I have been talked down to many times , they are condescending to almost everyone who come in. I have also been lied to, and treated like I'm a liar for trying to get an answer from them. I have seen them roll their eyes at people and dismiss them by telling them to go sit down. these eye rolling, gum snapping front desk ladies need to realize that they earn a paycheck off of my money! Can never get in for an appointment. They would let you die before seeing a doctor. Been trying to get in for over 6 months.

When going to this office do not expect a welcome reception from the Medical Assistants that work there. They are cold, indifferent, and very aloof toward patients. The Drs are great but customer service needs improvement immensely. I agree with previous comment that professionals do not exist at this front office. read more

We have been with them for years and the medical care has gotten to be terrible. I am planning to take my entire family out of their practice and move to another office. I have pain in my ankle all they need to go is send me a referral but tomorrow will be a week and it seems to much for them. read more

If I could give less than one star I would. This office is incredibly unorganized, inefficient and unprofessional. I've been going here for several years and the quality of care has completely declined. Now you're only able to NPs who don't provide the same quality of care as before when Dr. Lounquist and Dr. Houlihan were here. Every time I have been sick in the last 5 years I've had to make an appointment and come back at least 3 times before they solved the problem. They even forget to order basic tests until I mention it to them and then ask me "oh we haven't done that yet?" My charts that I have seen are inaccurate and not up to date. One NP even admitted to me "our charts here are so bad," and it's true. Also I needed paperwork done for school that was only 4 fill-in-the-blank pages. It took them two weeks to finish and I came into the office three times. They've even let me leave without completing doctors orders. They're ridiculous. Save yourself time and stress and do not come here. They're just a corporation now that treat patients like dollar bill signs. I can't wait to change primary care providers. As added proof I've completed this review while waiting for an hour in their office. read more

My family and I have been going to see Dr Houlihan and Dr Lonquist for 16 years. I find their office staff to be helpful and efficient. They have always made me feel welcome and have made every effort to fit us in as soon as possible. I have never waited more than 24 hours to see one of the doctors or a NP. Emese and Emily are great, comforting, professional, and trustworthy. I sincerely appreciate that they respect my wishes to limit the prescription medication introduced to my family, unless it is truly necessary. To say that the office staff at Estrella Mountain Medical Group is cold, unfriendly and rude is almost an understatement. When you walk in and speak to almost anyone behind the front desk they will look at you and speak to you as though you are wasting their time. On top of that, if they are running behind, they do not make an effort to let you know. My wife had an appointment there last Monday at 4pm, and at 5pm she was called back and then waited another 20 minutes to see the doctor. My wife and I have put up with it for a while, but the experience I had this week left us looking for another doctor. I went in for an appointment because I was having some pain in my throat. After signing in, I was called to the front desk to verify my insurance information. The young lady behind the desk looked like she would have rather be doing anything else than helping me. She took my insurance card, compared what was on her screen, handed it back to me and said I no longer had coverage. She told me I could pay up front or I could call the insurance company to find out what was wrong. She also told me she wouldn't call them because they are usually closed after 4pm. It was 3:50pm. I rescheduled for the next day and left. I called the insurance company at about 4:10pm and they told me my coverage was just fine. I called back the next day to tell them that everything was fine with my insurance company and I was transferred to the woman that deals with the insurance companies. I explained the situation to her and she told me that I did not inform the young lady from the day before that I had changed insurance companies. I explained to her that the change had taken place over six months ago, and that I had given her my new insurance card for my new coverage, not my old one (I threw that one away six months ago) so she should have known. I was told that I still should have said something about the change. At this point I was getting irritated and asked her if this really mattered, basically asking her if placing blame was relevant to me getting in to see the doctor today. She told me yes and I hung up on her. I didn't make this call to argue with them about who's fault this was, I made the call so that I could get in to see the doctor. But I could tell this was not her priority. She wanted to make sure that I knew this situation was my fault. And that is how it seems with all of the office staff at Estrella Mountain Medical Group. It never seems as though their patients and their needs are their main priority. And while their Doctors have always been good with my wife and I, they are not worth the trouble of having to deal with their staff. read more

I have been going to this office for a few years now and I just had the worst experience there ever yesterday. I saw Susan Scott FNP-C and she is horrible. First off she did not apologize for the hour wait I had, which I expected. No bedside manner. Her personality is cold and she did not smile once. I left there feeling like I was wrong for asking questions. At least the hematologist was nice. The front office has changed as well like I read in other reviews and not for the better. I am looking for another doctor's office and if I don't find one I will never see this woman again that is for sure. read more

I have been coming to see Dr. Lonquist for many years. Over these years I accredit Dr. Lonquist for listening to my ills and treating me well. On one special appointment early on me coming to his office, I told him that I felt that something was wrong with me and that no previous doctor would listen to my complaints. This had been going on for 2 years. Well, he ordered tests and found out with the problem was and I immediately was referred to a specialist. I feel he saved my life. As for his staff, I have gone to see several of the other PA's and they have been very good. The front office I have seen a change in staffing and it has been much better in that regard also. I recently have gone to the Estrella Mountain Medical office on 107th and McDowell for what I thought was the flu but, it turned out to be allergies. I forgot the doctors name but I really liked the male doctor there. I would go back there also. read more

I have read the last two reviews. I am wondering if you contacted the office manager for resolution before writing your reviews? I have been a long standing patient of this practice. I also work in the medical field. What the public doesn't understand is, there are many moving parts to an office visit. While it is the practice's job to facilitate the visit, there could be many reasons referrals take time, some are out of the family practice hands. As far as being upset that it took more than one visit to clear up a medical issue, is completely ridiculous. There are levels of protocol to treat things. They are doctors not miracle healers. I appreciate that I still have a family practice office to go to. With the way health care is changing, we will be lucky to have any doctors left to visit in the near future. read more

Especially the office located on McDowell in Goodyear IMS. The medical assistants (who go to school for how many months?) are righteous, know it all, disrespectful, no patient customer service skills, poor attitude, argumentative, won't listen to the patient, won't get the correct message to the provider, late, always in break room eating food that the pharmaceutical reps bring, and condescending. I give the star to the nice medical records, Peggy. I have given this practice several chances because I liked the provider, but now they lose my business. I have choices in healthcare and need to be in control of my choices, not scolded when asking a question to the MA regarding my care. I have a big family and we are all transferring care out of this practice. I wonder if these unprofessional assistants would have acted the same if they knew I am a healthcare administrator........for over three decades. read more
