More like 3.5. I came all the way from Burnaby after I saw it on a Foodie Facebook group. First time here, so I asked the staff to explain the menu and asked for their recommendations. I ended up getting the Reuben which is Rye bread with smoked meat, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut. You can ask for leaner or fattier meat, Dijon mustard or regular mustard. Order came out after a few minutes. Although it was good, it didn't blew my mind. Personally I don't like sauerkraut in the sandwich. Wish I got the basic one. Disclaimer, I have never been to Montreal so can't say how authentic it is. Is the meat supposed to taste like that? It's pretty 1D, I wish it's more flavourful. Anyone who has been to Montreal and had a smoke meat sandwich will tell you that this is the real deal. When they first opened t they also had the Montreal famous cheesecake but no longer, oh well... So the sandwich, it is absolutely top die for. The last time I was there I had the Ruben, just delicious! There's always people lined up, plan to go slightly earlier to ensure you get a seat, it is a pretty small place. Price is a bit steep but it is worth it for the nostalgic memories. read more

Very different experience this time - I purchased a large poutine with smoked meat (that ended up costing me over $25!) and when I got it, I was very shocked at how small the container was for that price. Maybe a handful of fries - the meat was all the end bits that are just peppery and greasy with no meat on them - couldn't enjoy much of it. Super disappointed. I won't ever get their poutine again, I wanted actual meat on it - not just the dark peppery bits on the ends of slices. Should have been double the fries, at least for that price. It was a bit of a drive from Burnaby but definitely worth it for a nice Montreal smoked meat sandwich. The service was amazing as even though the place was full they took the time to bring out the food to your table. My sandwich was amazing and the poutine was a decent size. Estrella's is a small hole in the wall that was recommended by my colleagues. I've always wanted some quality Montreal smoked meats and a Reuben sandwich was a definite must try. I just got in before the heavy lunch rush. Counter service was helpful and pleasant. I contemplated if I wanted the regular size or large. Didn't want to be too full since still had half the day left of work. Got their regular reuben with fries and a pickle. Service was fast! I did order it to go but I just could't resist fresh hot food and decided to eat it in my car. Fries were crisp and flavourful. Reminded me of home made fries but better. Seasonings were just right. They gave a good portion smoked meat and reminded me of food shows that you always wished that they served that much meat on your sandwich. It was hot and the toasted rye bread didn't crumble from the weight of the meat and sour crout. I only wished that the meat was a little more salty or a bit more flavourful. For the price, I wished it was a little better. I'm not discouraged. I was told that they had other wonderful sandwiches. I will try something different next time. Keep an eye out for the update. My family went to Shwartz's for years, and then we moved really far away and I've missed it since. I haven't found anything that comes close to replicating it, and sadly Estrella's doesn't either. However, it's still good meat! Just not as smoky and spiced as Shwartz's. I placed an order on the phone while about 20 minutes away, and food was almost ready when I got there. The regular size poutine was solid, and I appreciate that if you order online there are a lot of ways to customize your order, including requesting extra crispy fries (which we didn't, but nice option!). The gravy was generous ans delicious and the cheese curds were perfect - not too big or small, not too salty or bland. The classic sandwich with 6 oz of smoked meat was lovely. I liked that I could ask for my bread to be toasted and for only light dijon. The side of Montreal style coleslaw was very small, but very good. The vinegary dressing wasn't too sharp and was well balanced with some sweet. Perfect palate cleanser with the fatty meat. I asked for a blend of meat, and wish I had only asked for fatty. The blend had a lot more lean than I expected, and while it was tender, it's just not as flavorful as the fatty cuts. We also got an additional 3oz of medium style smoked meat. This was a lovely addition to the poutine. You can ask for chopped meat as a topping, but the slices of smoke meat have to added on the side. Prices were reasonable. Staff was friendly. Bathroom was cleaning. At 11am on a weekday there was parking available (though not a ton). read more

I happened to be in Langley area and so glad I looked up this spot! I have had the famous smoked meat sandwich in Montreal and this place is definitely right on its tail. I like the choice of dijon mustard or regular (go for regular!). Of course, there's the crunchy pickle which they wrapped so well that it didn't make the sandwich soggy. I also ordered the small poutine and it's really good size for $5.95. Generous amount of gravy and cheese curds. The cheese curds had an unusual, but nice, texture, it didn't melt into stringy cheese like you would expect. It has a bounce when you bite into it is the best way I could describe it. Also, amazing fries! They were thick cut and held up to the gravy quite well. Lastly, this shop can get busy and customers are asked to wait outside. I know it takes a bit more of their time but they would bring the food out and call out your name, smiles and all. I think it's amazing to see their level of service and would be happy to recommend to anyone to give it a try! read more

Our favourite place for Montreal smoked meat sandwiches! This time we opted for the 'special', which is smaller than the other sandwiches but still featuring a quarter pound of their wonderful smoked meat, served on a toasted brioche bun with pickles, mustard and Swiss cheese. They give you a choice of lean, medium or full fat meat... the lean did not lack in flavour at all and was divinely tender. The side Italian salad was fresh and delicious with feta cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette. The meat was unfortunately dry and desperately needed more sauce either on the bread or to dip. All I got from each bite was dry meaty taste, each bite had to be washed down with a drink, it was that dry. The pickles were the saltiest I ever had. You also don't even get a whole pickle, it's a quarter of one. The ambiance is nice and casual and the service was quick, it took 20 minutes for take out. We have been frequenting this great, difficult to find, hideaway for the past four years. We have been to Montreal a few times and have always marvelled at the Montreal smoked meat available there. Thankfully we do not have to sit on an airplane for 5 hours or more to enjoy one of our favourite treats anymore. Although not a whole lot to look at the interior is clean and there is enough Tables to enjoy your meal on premise or you can take it with you as take out. We often bring the meat itself home and enjoy it for dinner with home made soup and bread. The food here, especially the Montreal smoked meat, is outstanding! I have clients that live in Vancouver proper who make the trek out to Langley to enjoy this scrumptious treat. This place is definitely a hidden gem! The staff are friendly, respectful and pay attention to each and every customer. The food was so delicious and mouth watering. I've tried the burger and poutine then the very next day returned to try the roast beef panini, poutine. Yes I really like their food! My partner tried the Montreal smoked meat sandwich and poutine said he really enjoyed it too. Oh I have to give a shout out to the pickle! It was a nice juicy dill and oh so tasty. The owner spoke with us and takes great pride in his establishment, keeping it clean and well run. WICKED Reuben. You can pick how much meat you want on it. It truly does melt in your mouth. It's bet best Montreal smoked meat that I've had in Vancouver - and it's in Langley :P. As soon as I got my Reuben, I saw someone else with their poutine. I'm a poutine junkie so I got one too. Not as good as the sandwich, but still very tasty. Oh. My. God. The poutine. First, let me say that while poutine is a simple dish, it's also simple to screw up. Crappy fries will get soggy. Runny gravy will make even good fries limp. Gravy that isn't hot enough will fail to melt the cheese curd. And if there is no curd? Well... Luckily, this place has it down! The fries were perfect, the gravy was piping hot, and the cheese curds were the real deal. Add smoked meat to the mix, and it was a perfect plate. Even my mother in law, who isn't a poutine fan, thought it was mighty fine. The smoked meat sammies are also fabulous. The have various sizes (I had the petit) with various "leanesses" of meat. To also comes with a house made pickle (talk about bite!) and a choice of mustard. I abstained from the mustard, as I'm not a fan, and just had my meat on a nice, soft, light rye. It was a Sammie I was almost sad to finish. My mother in law had a turkey and roasted red pepper panini, and the bite I had made me want to go back tomorrow. Everyone else had the smoked meat, and everyone left happy. The place is tiny and easy to miss, but it's worth hunting for. This is our regular go to sandwich shop since we first discovered it. It is definitely a Langley gem. Located in the car shops area in downtown Langley, they make delicious Montreal smoked meat sandwiches. They are the closest thing to the ones you get in Montreal. We also love their ham and swiss panini. The garlic aioli is so good. I've also tried another panini with roasted peppers which was really good as well but I love garlic so the ham and swiss panini wins me over every time. I'm so glad we found this gem when we first moved out to Langley. Definitely one of Langley best kept secrets! read more

I ordered the The Montreal smoked meat 10 ounces and was delicious, very thinly sliced and not overly salty. I also tried the single Turkey Red Pepper and that was well toasted and tasty.
