In our case my mother's condition quickly deteriorated but thanks to EH's support I was able to secure a beautiful spot for my mother and was able to tell her about it before she passed. This was all in the span of 24 hours. It was a beautiful spot near the top of the hill with a glimpse of the ocean near a very large mature and beautiful tree. We also used their chapel and rooms for a reception along with their catering service. Since all services were provided on site it made things easier. We didn't have to worry about any logistics. My father was buried there 28 years ago, we moved away but visited. We noticed immediately the body of the ground had a sink on it. When we got home I called the office and spoke to Nicole. While going through a hard time losing a loved one you would think they would make it a little easier on you. I recommend going through someone that has been there awhile. The lady that helped my family lacked urgency and every question we had she had to go ask someone else for the answer.Over all that made the experience much harder than it needed to be! also wish they would have spent more time going over what the actual internment service looked like. Day of we asked if there was a speaker we could use and was told it needed to be requested earlier which we would have if we had known that was the case. The guy who was our rep for this place was very nice and kind, but was so bad at doing what his job was for us way too many times, it really upset us. My dad in-law was kept in storage before being creamated for 3 weeks due to this man's lack of doing his job and my wife & her mom were more than being upset wanting to plan his funeral at another location with all the family only to find out this wait was due to him not doing what he was supposet to. He told us that he needed the death certificate from the hospital the ambulance took dad to since it was Riverside vs SD county. And if he was unable to get it from them, he'd contact my dad's primary doctor for it so we could lay my dad to rest & he took down my dad's primary doctor's contact info plus the Riverside hospital contact info. Crickets......nothing . We called him again after a week and said him and their death cert clerk hadn't heard anything from the hospital he said. Sooooo, contact them! He said he'd have his death clerk followup. Again a week later, crickets....nothing! Both my wife emailing and mom-in-law calling him and left a message. Him saying again, they've heard nothing back from the hospital. Then contact the primary doctor you said you would in case you didn't hear back right away from the hospital! Again 3rd week later, more crickets, nothing! Finally I called the hospital and talked to the Adm Mgr who told me the death certicate was done the day he had arrived there. Are you kidding me! Called our rep back pretty upset as none of this long wait was necessary and finally my dad was able to be cremated, ashes put in his urn and burial plot arraged for family furneral to be held. When we went in to pickup my dad's ashes finally, our rep said it was his last day as he was going to work at another place and to ask for (person's name) if we needed any futher help. Very bad experience doing his work for such a difficult time for our family or nothing would have gotten done! read more

Finally getting around to writing this review of my father's funeral at Eternal Hills Oceanside a few years ago. Most of the ceremony went well, and we received many compliments on how beautiful and peaceful it was. However, we ran into an issue playing the music we had prepared for the ceremony - for some reason the music didn't play through the speaker system. The other issue is what prompts me to write this review after so long. Recently my widowed mother mentioned that my deceased father had not been dressed in the silk embroidered pants we had provided the funeral home. He was wearing bottoms of a similar color, but they weren't the matching embroidered ones we'd provided with the top. Of course, at the time, given the circumstances, my mother had declined to say anything. Now I am left wondering till my dying days - what happened to my father's pants? And who ended up wearing them? The ceremony was fine, though I'll never forget that my father was cremated in someone else's pants. Whoever got to wear the pants is very lucky, because they were beautiful pants. read more

I can't help but be upset and frustrated at this place and these greedy sales employees. There was a miscommunication between the staff & I over the removal of items for landscaping. After calling to clarify, I was told that my things would be ok and not thrown away. Only to find out they did in fact throw his things away. I understand things happen but when I called about it afterwards, I was talked down to and made out to seem stupid. I was expecting some sort of compensation so to state my case, I gave out dates and times, as well as the name of who I talked to. But I was given excuses and what I did, didn't seem to be enough. After the weekend passed, I was ghosted. Now I'm just sitting here, looking at an empty tombstone angry as shit. I don't even care about the compensation atp. I care that I didn't get an ounce of understanding or sympathy. I care that I didn't get an attempt to look into things. I care that I didn't even get a genuine apology. Nothing. I'm just so sorry that my dad is stuck here without the things that mattered to him so much. Things that's I'll never get back. It hurts so much that I lost him and now that I lost pieces that represent him. It's one thing to get your stuff thrown out because of one's own wrongdoing & carelessness. Planning for a loved one's final arrangements is never easy. Eternal Hills is helpful with that. But wow...the "up-sale" is palpable. Below you see 2 pictures. One is the treatment I got from West Coast Pet Memorial services for my sweet cat. The other is what I got for my Beloved Mothers ashes. Her remains were slipped into a cheap piece of fake stretchy "velvet" fashioned into a bag with raw edges. I was mortified. I know I paid bare bones (which was pricey, in my opinion), but surely they could've done better than 25c worth of fabric from the remnant bin. Appalling. read more

I wrote a review on Eternal Hills and they contacted me promising to get the Death Certificates with my wife's correct spelling of her name. That was all lip service. Now they have ghosted me and not returning my calls. They showed so much concern until they got my money. I would not recommend this place to no one. My Dad passed away on September 5, 2021. My sisters and I paid THOUSANDS of dollars for a simple ceremony. I understand things can go wrong however on the day that I put my dad to rest, the staff could of been a bit more competent. We hired out their private room to hold a small gathering after the burial. For a simple room, I believe we paid over a thousand dollars since the burial was on a Saturday. We were not allowed to hire an outside caterer so our option was to hire one of theirs at a PREMIUM cost or set up everything ourselves. We were told we would have access to the room at 8:00 AM to drop off food, drinks, etc. but when we arrived sharply at 8:00 A.M., we were told that we would not be able to unload everything for another 40 minutes or so due to the fact that they were having a "Staff Meeting" in that room. This put us in a VERY tight spot as I still needed to get to the church in time for my Dad's rosary which was another 35 minutes away. After my Fiancé caused a stir, they finally let us drop the food and drinks off for SIXTY guests! We made it in time only to learn that the flowers that we purchased for $400.00 to cover his casket were sent to a different location. We asked for donations to the Cancer Society in leu of flowers so the church and my Dad's casket were completely bare. The flowers did arrive for his actual mass but they were not there for his rosary. UNACCEPTABLE! For the record, my family has purchased FOUR burial plots at this location. My Grandpa, Brother, Mother and Father are all buried at Eternal Hills. This was a VERY emotional day for me and it did not go smoothly. There were many issues when I had to bury my Mother 4 years ago also, I was hoping Eternal Hills could have improved their services over the years. There were a few other minor issues regarding my Dad's service but this review has gone on long enough. read more

We had an excellent experience during a time when sensitivity and caring customer service really is a priority. The staff here helped my father and I with memorial service, burial, and catering arrangements following the passing of my mother in October 2017. There was prompt follow up, and genuine care and concern with some snaggy details regarding the family plot and headstone restrictions. The staff here bent over backwards to help my "set in his ways" father, and were very gracious and accommodating during dad's emotional time. I have lived in North San Diego County for over 40 years, and was very impressed with the local memorial park and its staff. I would highly recommend this establishment for anyone facing the difficult task of planning funeral arrangements and burial plot services. I'm extremely saddened by the way this place has gone downhill. My loved one was buried here August 29,2017. We paid over 12K to have him buried here. When we decided on this place we were assured that my grandfather would be in excellent care and his resting place would be well taken care of. The first few months everything was great. My loved one resting place was alway taken care of. The grass well cut and extremely green. After awhile the maintenance of his area was always terribly done. The grass dried up, his arrangements were always damage, and big holes dig on top of his tomb. I would call this place to address my concerns and they would say they would call me . That call would never happen. Yesterday was my grandpa's heaven anniversary so I went to see him. Instead of finding him on a nice beautiful cut grass I found a giant hole on his grave . This place never informed me about any updates or hole digging. I understand if they have to do maintenance or some sort of cleaning/ upgrade to the area, but a heads up would have been nice. Just out of respect. Or at least compassion to our feelings and our love one. I don't understand why it's so hard for them to communicate their plans to do any type of maintenance in the area. Especially when it's on top of my grandpa's grave were he was not buried for FREE! . Im not saying for them to ask for permission I'm just asking for them to be considerate of our feelings and at least inform us that they would be making some changes. They have all my information and they can text, call, email me at any given time. Waiting on a response from the direct of this place. We will see what type of bullshit excused they will tell me now. Looking back at my 1993 photos of my family's burial, it seems like it was nicer looking then than now. The chapel had pews and it was nice to set up an intimate service. (see pictures) The grounds had a grassy area where you could sit and feed the ducks. It was a nice park then. But now its about selling every inch of real estate to grieving families. I think there are even cremation graves by the front door. Not every inch of real estate at the memorial park needs to be sold to a grieving family. You can have open spaces for that true park like setting for added appeal for generations of families to come. read more

Our family has a few plots there already and once they found out where they jacked our quoted price up 5x as much! Regarding calling for pick up of loved one, TIP volunteer was left hanging by answering service who insisted on speaking to someone "of authority". TIP has been doing this for years and has not been questioned like this. We had ME Waiver number and OPD left us in charge as usual. Please train the answering service to respond better. Family waited almost 4 hours and we also had to get OPD back involved when they have better things to do. read more

Incredibly awful, I don't write a lot of reviews, but I want to warn people. My father died unexpectedly and we came to Eternal Hills trusting the reviews and their marketing, but we eventually had to take our business elsewhere. We waited a week for an appointment, and when we arrived we knew what we wanted to be done. We worked with Gabriel Rivera and chose the fastest route; a cremation, then a funeral service with the cremated remains. While we were at the meeting, Gabe set up the date of the funeral service with the church, he scheduled the date three weeks out because of the cremation schedule. We signed everything and paid them a few thousand dollars, and left thinking everything was set. Four days before the service we had not heard anything from Gabe. I called and was told Gabe was out of the office but that my father had not been cremated yet as they were waiting on my father's doctor to sign the death certificate. She recommended I contact the doctor's office myself. I did, and by that afternoon Eternal Hills had what they needed, however, I was told by Bertha, the manager, that regardless of the death certificate, my father would not be cremated for another 3 weeks. She told me the funeral service could just be done without remains; no matter that I had family that was coming from out of the country. I was also informed that Gabe had not included any details about the service at all in the file, nobody else there knew that we had a funeral set. After that conversation, Bertha and Gabe ignored my calls for another 24 hours. That was a week ago, and I have not been contacted about a refund at all, or even for an apology from the manager. My father was picked up by England Family Mortuary, who was able to have my father present at the funeral (casket) with three days notice (over a weekend) and then cremated less than a week later. Thank you for reading, please go anywhere else. They "claim" to have a Jewish section. However, when we buried our father we were told we would have to pay extra money to do this in the timeframe required by Jewish law. It is expected to complete the burial within 24 hours of death or as soon as possible. We buried our father 2 days after his death and were required to pay extra to do this. To make matters worse the woman asking for the money said "if I don't have the money by noon you cannot bury your father that day". This attitude when dealing with a difficult situation is totally uncalled for. Now almost 1 year later we are trying to schedule the unveiling and the Rabbi is available to officiate at 10am. We were told they will only set up for unveilings at 3pm or later. Why do they claim to have a Jewish section if they refuse to accommodate for Jewish laws and traditions? Also as we have gone to see other people buried there we always had issues getting our father to the gravesites because there is no ADA accommodations to get a wheelchair (or walkers) over the curbs. We asked about this numerous times to no avail! In these difficult political/religious times it is appalling that this treatment continues to occur even when in a place that is supposed to be specifically set up to accomodate these needs. read more

Review of Eternal Hills Cemetery Cecilia M. was everything you want in funeral home personal. We had prearranged as much as we could several years ago with Eva, and that was definitely a wise action. Cecilia had helped us get the casket, which was beautiful. We felt she had our best interests at heart, was very concerned about our satisfaction and happiness with the arrangements and worked hard to provide that. She was sensitive to the cultural and religious preferences we had (Baha'i Faith) and explained everything well and patiently, several times if needed. When she noted we weren't really happy with the gravesite we had chosen initially, Cecilia helped us get a better site that had opened up She was wonderful and made us feel very comforted in a sad situation. She felt like family by the time it was over. The gravesite was nicely prepared and even the workers lowering the casket were solemn and respectful. She was very helpful in the selection of special lettering and symbols on the gravestone. David from the Mortuary side was also excellent in his detailed explanations of options for us and patient with the questions we had. Our son and daughter also came with us to help us out and he handled the multiple family members well. He made sure he understood all the special things we wanted done for the preparation of the body for burial and everything was done according to our wishes. David's speedy and clear communication with us during the days preceding the funeral helped us with the preparation of the service folder and the program's media requirements. Though he wasn't present for the funeral, he had prepped the staff for that day and they knew our special requests and fulfilled them. They were sensitive, caring, respectful, and helpful. Page and the manager, were equally kind and ready to assist. They made sure we got all the items we brought in. The AV system for the songs and videos was high quality. They are in the process of a needed updating of the technology available for families. The microphone on the podium wasn't projecting clearly and needs replacement. But those things pale in comparison to the beauty of the chapel and cemetery and how we and the deceased were treated. We were greatly comforted by the kindness and care we received. read more

The main reason for the long wait time was they had ONLY ONE chapel where the service would be. Take that into your consideration if your family would be ok with waiting this long. I always try to come here as often as I can to visit my grandmother who's buried here. It's hard to explain how beautiful Eternal Hills really is-it's one of those places you have to visit to understand. It's a nice place to just set up a blanket, play some music and simply relax and breathe in all that fresh air you get from the coast. I love it. The lawn is always well kept and manicured, trash cans are always empty and the flowers they sell are always so fresh and pretty! The only downside I think would be to keep the restroom on the hill a littler cleaner. Otherwise, no complaints. Eternal hills is a good place to work out at because of all the hills/incline. For those of us who have large families and many loved one's visiting Cemeteries can be difficult, but with the proper support you can get through the difficult times. Although I have not buried anyone personally I have lost friends who have been buried here. Having lived in Oceanside most of my life I've literally driven by here thousands if not tens of thousands of times and it's to the point where I sometimes forget to genuflect the sign of the cross because I'm Catholic with each drive or walk by. It's a sprawling estate with green grass even in drought and hot summers it's generally much better than most in terms of aesthetics. The parking lot is kind of on the small size and generally overflows onto the street and neighboring school and surrounding neighborhoods so for the especially loved consider this. The hall where most services are held is also quite small and I've seen many standing room only events. It has good acoustics for services, sermons and speakers. It's a solemn place with placid and calming aesthetics to bring comfort. The staff is helpful, considerate, understanding, classy and gracious with everyone they encounter because they know how hard coming here can be. As morbid as it sounds I'm one of the few in my groups of friends who was born here, but I'll probably die here and it would be an honor to do so here, unless I decide to get cremated and have my ashes spread somewhere. read more

It's also difficult to see how a mortuary in a city of majority military, lacks any support for the grieving family that has no means to afford your prices. I guess it's more profitable to charge the, city, state or county for burial of those that served to protect you, in a Plotters field. I personally find NO "Dignity " in that, but only pure disrespect. Don't get me wrong I realize death is a business too, but still believe more support could have been available. This is my second attempt at trying to reach a resolution to have my son's bench designed and put in place. I e-mailed the General Manager the same day she responded to my first YELP review. I haven't heard one single thing from her. They charged a lot of money (in the 5 digits) and my family and I have nothing to show for it. I still have my son's ashes at home. This is truly pathetic. I called several different funeral places requesting information either on line or their answering service. Eternal Hills was the only place to return my call so we went with them and was not disappointed! They were all so caring, professional, courteous and beyond attentive to our needs and budget. We opted for a cremation, viewing our loved one prior to cremation, name engraved $(330) in memorial wall, 4 personal urns filled with remains & five death certificates. This total was approx $2100.00. Included is a service outside in the garden with a canopy tent, velvet covered chairs, two tables which we decorated ourselves and two easels we brought our own large pictures for. The day of the service, Sarah , Eva and Megan ensured all went well and there were people there to be attentive to helping us set up, select our music (70's rock) and take down. We could invite as many as people as we liked since it was outside. It was a very nice service. They also provided a podium with a mic for our minister friend to officiate. Words cannot express how truly grateful my family is for Hannah, Dustin, and the entire staff at Eternal Hills. They handled all of my grandfather's arrangements with kindness and compassion and went above and beyond. At his services he had full military honors and assured us that this was "allowed" within COVID-19 protocols. As his service came to an end they never once rushed our family, more specifically my grandmother to leave. The gentlemen who handle the grounds were also very respectful. This place made it a nightmare arranging services for my mom. They kept getting the year of birth wrong and I had to view papar for paper, word for word when I was so upset of loosing my mom. The bad experience I had, no one should go through. It was unbelievable how I was treated. All I can say, the manager, Greg and staff still have their moms and karma will hit hard when they lose their moms. Paperwork will be a mess as well as death certificate. Megan kept putting wrong date so I requested the expert Katrina to do the death certificate. The 1 star rating is only cuz this doesn't allow no rating but it is a big zero. This place has REALLY GONE DOWNHILL since covid. I would highly advise people to NOT BURY YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!! First off, it took us almost 3 weeks after our loved one passed before we can have an appointment scheduled to make arrangements! Then the pricing is ABSOLUTELY ABSURD!!! For just burial at gravesite alone (where they don't allow any loved one to be present to witness burial) is $4800!!!!! And that's not even with a headstone included! Just to lay your loved one to rest! If you do choose to do burial site service they were asking for over $11k and this is restricted to a time limit! We had made arrangements to have our loved one buried next to her mother's plot here expecting much more courtesy from this place as we have come here for multiple services for different loved ones over the last 30+ years!
