I don't know if there will be enough room for the compliments that I would like to include here, but I am going to give it a try. We decided to try Injera Rock last night and ordered around 5:15 saying we would be there to pick it up in 10. I got there in about 7 and walked in. Someone in another review talked about how the options from the delightfully focused menu were heating in a "Chipotle" style serving area. Ummmmm, yes, yes they are. Quick deviation, ((insert sarcasm now)), Chipotle has toppings that are in their serving area. These are PREPARED sides that obviously take a LONG time to cook so please explain to me how else they would be able to coax all of the delicious flavors out of their food and then keep it warm? So yes, yes, they are, and I appreciate it! Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming. :) The gentlemen were extremely nice, had masks and plexiglass up and were so pleasant to my three year old. It was such a wonderful takeout experience during these COVID times!! Ok. Of importance. EVERYTHING that we ate was delicious! We ordered two doro wats, we ordered two lamb alichas and all of the sides that we got from the chickpeas to the lentils to the collard greens to the green beans to the injera were all AMAZING. We came by and did a takeout for dinner. I got a one meat combo with three veggie sides and my bf got the medium veggie sampler with 5 veggies. Food was ready and packed within 5 minutes. We had it for dinner and it reheats well. They provide extra injera on the side and little cups of tomato salad. I got the lamb stew, the red lentil, the cabbage and carrots and collard greens. The red lentil was definitely spicy and the best thing was each thing tasted unique and great. My bf's veggie sampler had the same three veggies and yellow lentils and carrots and beans. By far one of the best Ethiopian dives I know of in the DMV area. food is flavorful, delicious, and relatively low in sodium and oil compared to other Ethiopian places I've been. if the price was lower and portions bigger, it would be 5 stars for sure. give this place a try when you have a craving for good Ethiopian food. read more

Finally got a chance to try this place out. The owners were really friendly and provided suggestions. I went with the combo (2 meat, 3 vegs). Lamb and beef stews were terrific. You get two pieces/slices of the Ethiopian bread underneath your combo then they give you two additional pieces/rolls of bread on the side. Will be returning soon. We had the large vegetarian sampler. In addition to the usual yellow and red lentils in the sampler they also had vegetable dishes that aren't at your usual Ethiopian restaurants. There was the choice to have real injera (gluten free) made from teff. The decor is fresh and simple and it was a nice touch to have Ethiopian music too. read more

My husband and I visited this restaurant about 9 months ago and we thought it was good. However, I recently took my niece, who loves Ethiopian food, for lunch last weekend and we were appalled. I ordered a vegetarian sampler and it was just ok. Just ok. However, she ordered one of the beef tibs dishes and it was hideous. Not exaggerating--the beef tasted, looked, and crunched like something that was scraped off the side of the pan after it had been baked for a couple of hours. Not kidding. IT LOOKED AND TASTED AND CRUNCHED LIKE IT HAD BEEN SCRAPED OFF THE SIDE OF A BAKING DISH. The food is great but beware of online orders. We ordered online through door dash for a pickup order. When we arrived at the restaurant to pick up the food the lady there said a door dash driver came to pickup the order for delivery even though we clearly chose the pickup option and not the delivery option. The lady said she just gives food away to the drivers and it's clear she didn't verify the pickup. We contacted doordash who told us to contact the restaurant. The lady refused to make our food. I'm so happy this place opened up! And it's amazing. We have done take out many times and everything has been delicious. Our usual order is the Doro wet (chicken stew)- always tastes fresh. We also get the beef tibs, nice stir fry to contrast the stew. I've tried the sambusa and it's tasty. The sides are phenomenal-- my fave is collard greens; the green beans and carrots are a revelation! The lentils and peas are very flavorful. You could just get a sampler with the sides as a meal if you are vegetarian and you won't miss the meat at all. It opened during covid so I can't really comment on the service but pick up has always been timely and efficient. Love this place! This is a quintessential mom and pop's restaurant in a shopping strip. I used to drive all the way to Silver Spring or to H street NE for good injera. So when I saw this place, I had to try it. First off, the owner is super friendly and and welcoming. He explains the menu with such patience and is passionate about the food he serves. My favorite dish is the combination that allows me to sample many sides either vegetarian or meat style. I rarely write reviews, but my 2 recent visits to the new, family-owned/operated Ingera Rock were so good, I felt compelled to do so! Having eating Ethiopian food since childhood, I've always been a huge fan of the cuisine. Used to frequent places like Dukem (Baltimore & DC locations), along with several of the other Ethiopian restaurants near DC's U-Street corridor, but Ingera Rock blows them all out of the water. And they're right here in Rockville. :) Ordered the largest vegetarian sampler they had on my first visit. Everything was so flavorful and just perfectly prepared. The dish came with red & yellow lentils (amazing & not overcooked, as is too often the case), yellow cabbage, collard greens, beets, green beans w/carrot, chickpeas, brown lentils (again, not overcooked - almost juicy!) and a side of tasty tomato/onion/pepper salad. Last, but certainly not least, their injera wasn't too sour or too bland - the flavor and level of moisture was perfect. And they give you a LOT of food. It feels nice to pick up carry-out food & feel the bag has actual weight to it! Enjoyed my meal so much, I returned the following day & ordered key wot (beef stew). Again, everything was cooked to perfection. The beef was tender and the spices were just delicious. It might not look like much from the outside, but if you're into Ethiopian (or just delicious, mostly spicy food), definitely give Ingera Rock a try. There are some other good Ethiopian places in the area, but so far this one is the best! We ordered delivery, I went with the small veggie platter with cabbage, gomen and a side of cabbage because I just love it and my partner got the key wot (beef stew) with chickpeas and red lentils plus extra injera because I love having leftovers. Ordered takeout from Ingera Rock for dinner. I ordered over the phone and drove over to pick-up. I walked into the restaurant to pick up but I think I could've called them once I'm there and they would bring the food out for you. I've been missing Ethiopian food and this really hit the spot. I ordered the lamb and a medium vegetarian sampler. Food came with two small refreshing tomato salad and extra ingera bread. Probably enough food for 3-4 people. The lamb was not spicy, mild flavor and well stewed. The vegetarian sampler probably had my favourites though: green bean and carrots (fried and then stewed??), and the beet (a mixture of red beet with spices). The other veggie dishes in the sampler were also very tasty. Most of the dishes were a little spicy, so great for those of us who likes a kick. Overall I'm very pleased with the food and very reasonably priced! It's tough opening a business during the pandemic. We should support delicious local businesses :) read more

Just randomly found this place passing by after work. I was in the mood from something different. It was a Jamaican spot next to it but there's more Jamaican spots than Ethiopian. It's a little Hole in the wall kind of spot. You can tell it's family owned and not many people come to see it they probably just pick up/take out. The menu didn't have that many options so I started off with small side orders with a small entrée as well. I got key wot with chickpeas and collard greens. I also tried their sambusa which I definitely had thicker and more filling ones before. The key wot is like a beef stew but with lots Of sauce, they put on top of their bread injera which was okay just gets soggy after awhile. The greens were spicy and the peas were okay. It was like little Half soft half hard balls in its creamy sauce. Definitely going to come back and try the beef grilled tibs, I just hope it's a lot and worth $18.99. read more
