The food was fine, just not nearly as good as other Ethiopian I've had in Silver Spring. The Sambusas in particular had an unfamiliar filling that just tasted a little off. I visited this restaurant to try Ethiopian cuisine for the first time. The restaurant itself is located in a strip mall on a busy road. After arriving at the restaurant to pick up my food, I found out that my order didn't go through due to Internet problems in the restaurant. I had to reorder and pay with cash because their entire payment system was down (this inconvenience is the reason for 4/5 stars on my review). However, the one man working was quite friendly, prepared my food quickly, and was very generous with servings. I ordered the medium vegetarian platter, which included 5 vegetable dishes and plenty of ingera, which is a soft spongey bread. As a vegetarian, I appreciated that this restaurant had lots of meat-free options. Of the vegetable sides, the collard greens, green beans, and yellow lentil were must-haves. The beets side dish was also pretty good. In fact, the only side dish I didn't love was the cabbage, which is based on my own personal preference rather than the quality of the dish. All of the sides had really unique flavors and were perfectly spiced. The medium vegetable sampler is definitely enough food for one person and I had plenty of leftovers. Overall, I had a good experience ordering food from Ingera Rock and plan to return in the future. read more

Delicious and fresh. Everything tastes really good. Try it you'll love it. I've had tibs and cabbage from here twice and it's been very close to homemade. This second time, I had the alicha (yellow split peas)...seasonings were on-point and it was really good as well. The meal came with small salata in a condiment container and berbere (spicy sauce). The service alone is 4 stars! The owner I am assuming helped us, he was very nice and gracious. Gave us great advice on which is good and not spicy. We ended up ordering small sample consisting of green beans, beets, and lentils. We also ordered kifto and lamb stew. The seasoning was very good, id highly recommend the beets! Was looking for Ethiopian food nearby and was thrilled to discover that this place had opened a few days ago. Ordered the beef tibs and lamb alicha and both were fantastic! The veggies that came with them (red lentils + greens, yellow split peas + cabbage) were really good as well, and when you add in the tomato salad (timatim) and the various sauces (awaze & koch-kocha?) you get a ton of different flavors in each plate. Ethiopis is the old Injera Rock. I was reluctant to try it, but was at the front door not previously knowing that the restaurant had changed owners. The food was wonderful, at least as good as the old restaurant. I had the small combination with the lamb stew. I highly recommend this, particularly if you prefer non-spicy food. The new owner told me that the staff, including the cooks, are the same as previously worked at Injera Rock. The restaurant has been completely remodeled and looks great if you prefer to eat in. read more

I was excited about another Ethiopian option in Rockville. They just opened up last week in a small, nondescript location in the plaza just south of York Castle ice cream. Right now it is all take out, and I think that is their focus post-Covid as well. So the inside is nothing to look at. But the food was affordable and excellent, perfect for takeout. We got two of the largest veggie combos. I asked how many each would serve, and they said at least two. And that was good advice. Our 2 platters easily served four, including two hungry college age young men. The lentils were excellent--smokey and not too spicy. And the other veggie dishes (7 in all) were each delicious in their own ways. The enjira was good, and not too heavy. The layer one on the bottom of the takeout platter and one on top, each soaks up the carious sauces and is a real treat. They also give you 4 or 5 more on the side, which was more than enough. They said the use all teff and no wheat flour. And that was helpful for my gluten sensitive son. This was good food, at good value. We will do takeout from there again. And next time I will pick up some of my favorite Ginger ice cream next door too. read more

We were super excited to try Ingera after seeing a roadside sign in Rockville. We placed a takeaway order for a large veggie sampler and some sambusas. The restaurant had the order ready in 10 minutes and everyone was so nice! When we got home, the food was still at the perfect temperature - the hot dishes were warm, the cold dishes were still chilled, and the sambusas were crisp.
