I explained to him that we had an unstable family member who used to stay with my dad and might try to break in. Lenny not only added an extra security lock, but also advised me to leave a note in the window so other locksmiths would think twice if that family member attempted to gain access with their help. Sure enough, that family member did try to break in and change the locks -- but thankfully, they had called Lenny. He immediately recognized the co-op, remembered working with me, and gave me a heads-up. Once he realized what was going on, he refused to do the job. I really respected his integrity. Later, once the family member was evicted, Lenny was incredibly supportive and flexible as I navigated the next steps. He understood I wouldn't have much notice and worked with me to re-secure the co-op as soon as possible. I fully take responsibility for that. However, when I returned, both the man and woman working there were insensitive, dismissive, and unprofessional. I was told several calls had been made and that the cards had been thrown away because they are "not a storage facility." My number has not changed, and I never received any calls. My email was also available, yet no attempt was made to contact me that way. I understand mistakes happen, but customer service goes both ways. A credit toward a new order or simply handling the situation with professionalism and compassion would have gone a long way. You don't have to like every customer, but respect and professionalism should never be overlooked. How a business treats people during difficult times says a lot about its values.
