I hadn't had Eugene's in a really long time. That being said, I was happy to see their food truck posted up outside the Alys Stephens Center on 10/15. I ordered my usual hot Jumbo tenders with fries. My food was fresh and didn't take long. Although the fries kind of needed a little salt. I requested bbq sauce and they were out. They gave me 4 ranch dipping sauces.... Yeah, a bit excessive for sure! Oh and they left off the pickles! Service was kind of all over the place. Not sure what was going on here but no biggie. This will always be one of my fav food trucks. Yum!!!

Great chicken, fries, and slaw. Seating area is small and kind of funky, but it just adds to the vibe. Different levels of spice are nicely described, and accurate on the menu board.

Rushed over before noon to beat the rush and thankful I did as they were hit and it was a madhouse by 12. I loved it. I couldn't hear it was so loins in there and as it turns out neither could the waitress as my order was all wrong. They were sweet and as quickly as possible was served my chicken wings with collard greens. The place was nice and inviting for either a quick pick-up order or to sit inside or out. I chose outside and it was nice, not too noisy although busy roads close by.

I ordered the 6 wing meal and added an extra side. I paid the extra $1 to have all flats which I'm glad they had this as an option. The chicken: I ordered mild and it was seasoned and fried perfectly. They make their own in house dressings for you to dip the wings in and I had the blue cheese. The coating on the chicken is crisp and the meat was juicy. The Collard Greens: seasoned just right with a little kick of hotness. I wish there weren't as many stems in them, but I could look past that because of the flavor. The sautéed corn: HOLY HOLY this was the best part of my meal. You can tell that the corn was cut fresh off of the cob. It was sweet, buttery, seasoned and sautéed to perfection. I only wished they had this in a large portion, or that I would've ordered 2 servings of it. I highly suggest this as your side if you love corn. Small spot for dine in, so don't bring a large party in to sit down. The staff was very friendly and greets you with a smile. Definitely will be eating here again when I return to Birmingham

The pick up process at this buzzy spot that serves Nashville-style hot chicken was super smooth. We literally parked, walked over, grabbed our labeled food pack, and were back in our car within a minute. While I've been told that some of the entrees come glossy and sauced, my Quarter Dark fried bird was equipped with a dry spice rub. It was super tasty, with juicy, soft meat inside a thin battered crust. I got the second spiciest option, but it was more lip-numbing than actually fiery -- if you have a respectable spice tolerance, you can easily go for the highest setting. The flavor of the chicken was pleasantly sweet, with lots of brown sugar to go with the pepper and chili. The white bread underneath absorbs some of that lovely spicy oil and seasoning. Only downsides were that the crust was a tad bit soggy and didn't stay adhered to the chicken, though this may have been our fault for letting it sit for about 15 mins before eating. The fried okra was decent, but we weren't a huge fan of the fries. The Mac n cheese was slightly sweet, but I enjoyed the savory, creamy side. Eugene's gets a thumbs up from this out-of-towner. Next time, I plan to get the spiciest sauce and also probably do the half bird since I found myself craving more when I had finished.

The food truck came to my apartment complex and the service was legit awesome. I ordered just about one of everything from their menu and everyone in our family was satisfied. The Alabama White BBQ Sauce is scrumptious. Super delicious food. Get you some!

I just got popcorn chicken from this location and the chicken smells funky. . Almost like if the raw chicken was not handled properly.

Service and food was good. The only issue was the outside seating area that smelled like garbage.

Would a party of 5 and a highchair be too tight for indoor seating?

Where is this place? I drove around in circles looking and couldn't find it.

Hi, Carl. It's tricky to find. If you are familiar with the uptown district , it's easier to get to Eugene's by parking near mugshots ( that lot right behind their building ). Eugene's would be across the street from that parking lot- they have a…

But we'd spent the day at McWane Center and we were starving so we were there to EAT! The food looked gorgeous but it tasted very meh. The onion rings had too much breading on them, which I didn't think was possible, but here we are. The part of the breading next to the onion was mushy so that threw off the texture of the whole thing too. The burger was very much like a Whataburger. Even the lettuce smelled the same. I got The Standard and the bun of the burger was a little mushy (similar to Whataburger) and there was not much meat. For an $11 burger, I'm expecting more than a Whataburger. My middle kid likes everything on her burger and isn't picky at all and the loaded kid burger looked impressive but it was about the same as mine. Not awful, but not very good either. Very close to the same amount of meat. She's the queen of the Clean Plate Club and she only ate half. The fries were good but a somewhat too salty, the dip that came with the onion rings was excellent and we ended up using it for the fries. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and our meal was $63 before tip for 5 waters, 2 adult burgers, 2 kid burgers, a kid grilled cheese, and a basket of fries and onion rings (I thought I was ordering a "side" of fries, not realizing I actually ordered a basket and it was a lot of fries and onion rings). We don't mind spending money on good food, but the prices here don't align with what you get. No one was more disappointed than me, I've been wanting to eat here for FOREVER!!!

Every single dish? Fresh. Hot. Flavor packed. No complaints--not one. And if you love Asian food, there's something on that menu for you. Period. Yeah, you might wait a little--but that's because it's made fresh. And trust me... it's worth every second. The service? Top tier. There are plenty of options to choose from. I put in a few things from the appetizers because I know they take a while to cook. Everything came out very fresh and hot. I didn't have one complaint. Then I asked for a salmon and tuna nigiri(sushi) but she brought out the sashimi. Which is cut into really small blocks. I also got the Philly roll which was fine. I got the shrimp hibachi which took a while to cook as expected but was very fresh and the Otsuka roll. Loved the hibachi but the otsuka roll just didn't sit right. The roll was lightly battered and fried so the cream cheese had almost melted out of it completely. Overall, I wasn't a fan of the sushi, but the other items on the AYCE were great. I did feel a little rushed by the employees to hurry and be done ordering even though it was dead. If I would have had a better experience with the employees, I probably would have given them 4 stars but they just made me feel uncomfortable.
