As a medical student who is looking to go into aesthetic medicine myself, I am extremely picky when it comes to choosing a provider that I truly trust. Her skill, precision, and honesty are unmatched, and the level of empathy and care that she's able to maintain throughout every single appointment is something that cannot be replicated! Recently, after seeing Angella for my initial follow-up dose of Dsyport, I ended up getting a touch-up with a Dermatologist in Norcal because I did not have time to come back down to LA within the time frame that I needed to. For context, my masseters are just extremely strong and sometimes require more units than expected, since it depends on how much teeth grinding I do both at night and throughout the day, all of which is heavily influenced by how stressed I am from school and work. This is unfortunately something that I wish I had never done because the Dermatologist's approach was not compatible with the goals that I had communicated to them, leaving me with my left masseters looking larger than the right as well as my face looking rounder because of where they injected the Dysport. Waiting a couple of months for this second round of Dysport to wear off was extremely frustrating and interfered significantly with my understanding of my image. When I saw Angella again after 4 months, she was able to notice the imbalance in my face immediately and explained the exact technique she was going to use to address the issue in a way that aligned directly with my goals, which she remembered. I walked away from this appointment feeling so grateful for her and so excited to be reunited, and also so sure that I would never let anyone else touch my face out of convenience ever again. All in all, I could not recommend Angella more. She is a true artist in the world of aesthetic medicine, and she's made me feel so confident in who I am. Just the absolute best!

Not to mention the Health Coach and the Doctor were often saying completely different things, so there is not congruent communication between these two parties. Also, this company makes NO effort to proactively communicate with you. Meaning, if you were to sign up for a year and not reach out to set up appointments, they would take your money and offer no refund or grace even though they rendered ZERO services. And it is NOT EASY to make those appointments. His doctors (because he has many) were sometimes booked out a month and a half or only available for tiny windows within a week. They refused to give us a refund after they auto-renewed our account after a year. When the doctor said it was our last appointment, I assumed we were done. However, they continued to bill us for 3 months before I noticed what was happening. I was told repeatedly that they have a strict no-refund policy. Even though they have made NO effort to contact us. No communication alerting us to this renewal. No attempts to schedule new appointments. I find this unethical. Unfair. If the services themselves were phenomenal, I would at least give 3 stars. But for mediocre, and often disjointed services, on top of their dishonorable business practices, I say JUST GO TO A LOCAL FUNCTIONAL MEDICAL DOCTOR NEAR YOU!

I also liked the idea of having a team of support, including a doctor and health coach, working together to help me live an optimal life. I'm also very keen on technology and supporting efforts to use technology in innovative ways. Let's just say: The reality of Parsley Health is much different than the painted vision of Parsley Health. To summarize: My doctor and health coach were nice, but I could sense their boredom and exhaustion with one Zoom call after another day after day. Also, Parsley's scheduling and use of technology truly sucks. The Parsley Health model may work for some, but it didn't work for me. I canceled my membership in July. If interested, I've shared some details below that led to my decision. RECEIPTS. I paid for the annual membership (~$2K). I expected to receive a receipt soon thereafter. I never received one. When I asked for one, they said that they were happy to provide a receipt after every doctor visit for ~$400 ($2K total/5 visits). That way, the doctor could provide relevant diagnostic codes for insurance/FSA purposes. When I asked for receipts for my first 2 doctor visits, I was literally shocked at the diagnostic codes my doctor noted. Not only did the codes not apply to me, but it's also nothing we ever discussed. When I asked the doctor about it, her attitude was, "Don't worry. It won't impact your insurance." Excuse me. SCHEDULING. I don't know if it's the doctor/health coach combo I picked, but trying to get a Zoom call scheduled at a decent hour was next to impossible. My first doctor visit was at 5AM PT. If I hadn't taken that slot, the next available appointment was 2 months later. If you live on the West coast, good luck. At one point, I got an email from a Parsley Health employee who wanted me to schedule a 30-min appointment with her to discuss my experience so far. I don't know if everyone got this invitation because when I went to schedule on her online calendar, she had no openings for the next 4 months. I just deleted the email. BLOODWORK. One thing I really liked - or so I thought - was the comprehensive lab work they have you do after your first appointment with your doctor. They tell you it's fine to break into two lab appointments, but I opted to do it all in one visit. Why not just get it done? The lab ended up taking 17 vials of blood. They took all they could out of one arm - 14 vials - then poked the other arm to get the other 3. All I can say is I was glad someone drove me. LAB RESULTS. The most enlightening, new piece of information I got from all the bloodwork is that I have very high lipoprotein (a) levels, which means I have a high risk of heart disease and stroke. I had never heard of lipoprotein (a) before. Through my research, I learned that it's genetic and it's something you can't really fix. When I reviewed these results with my doctor, she was not concerned at all nor did she offer any suggestions on how to mitigate or lessen the blow of this discovery. OTHER TESTS. Not once did we ever discuss getting regular mammograms or colonoscopies. That shocked me. When I looked into scheduling my own tests, the facilities I looked into wanted to send the results to my primary care doctor, which was Parsley Health. However, Parsley isn't into having you upload results from external sources. Like I said, I've canceled my annual membership (without a refund). This experience has reminded me of one of those commercials where the actor says, "I'm not a real doctor, but I play one on TV." Parsley's version is: "I may be a real doctor, and I play one on Zoom." I've scheduled an appointment with my traditional primary care doctor from a few years back, who, I might add, will be happy to review all my results from Parsley and guide me accordingly. She'll also kick my butt and tell me to get a mammogram. Let the good times roll.

I see Kevin Rauchut, who is one of the most caring human beings and extremely thorough in his questions, and I always feel confident in his responses. Kevin spends time with me to thoroughly assess what needs to be assessed and answers my questions. He is non-judgmental and offers his opinion and also respects my autonomy. He has been wonderful in also asking about my life as a whole and learning about me. It's helpful to normalize when we might be going through tough times and also have someone to celebrate wins. The front desk and reception are all very friendly and helpful. I'm always receiving immediate call-backs if I can't reach someone and leave a message. I also appreciate that APLA Health allows patients to use other locations and providers if needed, without forcing people to use the same provider. I do try to see Kevin, but sometimes if I need a referral for physical therapy, or something else with immediacy, then it's really convenient to be able to make an appointment with whomever has the earliest availability. I really enjoy going to this location, in the heart of West Hollywood. The colors of the rooms reflect the LGBTQIA+ community. The bloodwork is done on the same floor so there's no need to separate it out from the appointment. Other non-APLA Health facilities are starting to require that patients make a separate appointment for bloodwork, which creates a barrier. I'm so happy APLA Health truly makes an concerted effort to reduce barriers. Kevin Rauchut also goes into detail as to different options so I am able to make a decision on my own but with helpful guidance from a professional. I never feel like I'm alone. I used to go to the Olympic office as my main location, but then Kevin moved over to the WeHo location. There's a modern yet intimate feel that's a perfect combination. I never feel rushed, and the portal messages are convenient as the staff can let me know if questions require appointments or not. I do appreciate the option of a phone call, but I hope APLA Health can consider a video telehealth platform, even if it's not with our main provider. It would be very convenient to have someone who is looking at our chart and able to discuss things virtually through video, and not only through audio. The office was so clean and contemporary and the staff were very nice. The nurse who was administering my IV told me they practiced Concierge Medicine and also had a medical weight loss program. I finished my treatment, thanked her and left. I haven't been able to forget about what she had said and how nice the office was. So, I waited until today, after the insanity if work in the early spring, culminating in NAB in Vegas to make my appointment. Parking is a little annoying as it's $2.50 per 15 minutes with a cap of $22/day. And there's no street parking in Bev Hills M-F during office hours. So one can get creative. However, its entirely worth it. I'm not going to say that your first consultation will be cheap. It won't be. I have great health insurance, so my labs will be handled by them. Minus the phentermine, the rest is out of pocket. But to walk into an office and actually be cared about and listened to by a Nurse Practitioner and then a Doctor is oddly rarer than it should be. It's worth the cost to take care of your health. Initially we discussed my lack fo energy, which I'm hoping the lab work and losing weight will help with, but that turned to me expressing my concerns related to a medication I am currently on and the side effects of it and Dr. Nazarian asked me specific questions about what I felt I needed and what my medication wasn't providing me. So not only did I start my weight loss journey on day 1, I was also able to get a prescription to change my medication and make a follow up for the next week. This office is very kind and caring. Their Yelp reviews are what led me to them. My experiences thus far are what will keep me coming back. It's worth the cost to regain your health and I am very excited to work with them as I begin my journey to getting back to the person I know I am. Will update this review as I progress.

Although I thought it was affiliated, I now realize that although the name is similar, there is no affiliation with Cedar Sinai. The founder did her clinical training at Cedar Sinai, so is fully aware of the similarity in name. My experience tipped me off that something was not right -- starting with the fact that no one except myself-- including all medical professionals -- were wearing masks. Within the city and county of Los Angeles as well as the state of California, masks are definitely required at medical facilities. During the pandemic, I have gone through cancer treatments and know how carefully controlled facilities must be to keep staff and patients safe-- and I am extremely grateful to all medical professionals for the rough duty they endured! A second floor facility in a strip mall with generic "Medical Clinic" signage is clearly not what I expected. I should have left, but didn't. That is on me. I will add that I made an appointment online. When I got to the door, I kept my distance as there was a couple at the counter with a little dog. (I briefly wondered if this was a veterinary clinic...but put that out of my mind. Besides, I like dogs...) The couple, the dog, and the two front office staff all looked at me... I said my name and that I had an appointment for my booster. The couple walked outside to allow me access to the counter, and I was greeted with "Do you have insurance?" Um, yes... but technically this isn't required for covid-related tests and shots. Ultimately, everyone was nice enough, and the Nurse Practitioner who administered my booster was as well. I never saw the doctor here, but my complaint is that there is a reason medical facilities are expected to keep us safe. And she is the founder and boss. You can see from their "business owner" photos from March and April 2022 that the non-masking is not a new violation. If you take covid spread seriously, you may want to avoid this facility. One other issue... I requested Moderna for my booster. The NP actually showed me the bottle, almost like a bottle of fine wine, and said Moderna. I did not have my reading glasses on so can't say what she showed me, but I nodded in approval. My paper vaccination card from them says Moderna, but my digital record with the state is unfortunately now recorded with Pfizer. I think medical record details are important. So, I'll add if you want medical records that are accurate, you may want to avoid this facility.
