I was so disappointed and thought they completely messed up my order but then when I left I rechecked the menu and there is a god awful wrap that has these ingredients. I should have probably spoken up to an employee immediately upon reveling my order. Either way the taste was very mid, big portion size I guess but really it's just all the curly fries taking up all the space. Can't go wrong stopping for some tri-tip cheesesteak in San Luis Obispo! My photo is of half the sandwich (asked to split for two), and it was a perfectly hearty portion served steaming hot with tender meat and soft bread. Y'all it was gem after gem on our overnight trip to SLO. After checking into our hotel we were hungry and looking for something to eat. My hubby had the Pastrami and curly fries, and I had the Dirty Bird. First let's talk about the Pastrami. I'm usually not a fan of the meet because it's not cooked long enough, but this was perfect it had little burnt tips which were perfect. Now the Dirty Bird. Let's just say the portion size was amazing and the wrap was past delicious. It was crispy chicken, pepper jack cheese with curly fries, and bar-b-que sauce. We hung out and enjoyed our food. But wait let's not forget the deserts. I tried the homemade chocolate chip cookie which was superb. They also had cupcakes and Rice Krispie treats which looked just as delicious. read more

Cheesesteak Heaven with a Side of "Best $3 I've Ever Spent" Ordered from Hoagies for delivery and wow -- they do not mess around with portions. The cheesesteak? To die for. Juicy, cheesy, perfectly messy -- everything a cheesesteak should be. I upgraded to chili cheese fries for just $3 more instead of regular fries, and I swear that's the best $3 I've ever spent. They were enormous -- piled high with chili and plenty of onions in perfect proportion. Normally fries like that cost at least twice as much, and this upgrade alone was enough food for two people. And because I clearly wasn't ordering light, I added clam strips. They don't come with fries, but the portion was so generous it felt like a bonus prize. Everything arrived warm, fresh, and just as ordered. Between the cheesesteak, the chili cheese fries, and the clam strips, this was easily two full meals -- maybe three if I had any self-control. I was on the bus on my way downtown and already had decided on a place to eat with a friend, but as soon as I opened Yelp and saw the size of Hoagies' sandwiches, I knew I had to change my plans. Hoagies is solid sandwich spot right next to the bus stop and a couple of blocks away from the main part of downtown SLO. There's plenty of seating inside with a lot of TVs to keep you entertained. The menu here is very extensive; they have a plethora of wraps and sandwiches to choose from, ranging from the popular chicken Caesar salad wrap to your classic Club sandwich to the Pismo wrap stuffed with tri-tip and fries. They have something for everyone. I ordered the Cuban, which came crammed with sweet juicy pork, salty ham, and a spread of dijon mustard. Now I've had authentic cuban sandwiches before--my great aunt is Cuban and has made my family a killer cubano--and this one tasted pretty close to it. It's also worth mentioning that the portion sizes here are massive. You could easily save one half of your sandwich and curly fries (one of the best fries out there) for a second meal. I was in SLO with a school trip. The menu had a nice variety of sandwiches burgers and tacos and looking at the images encouraged me to order a sandwich called the "Freddy". Ot came with a choice of chicken or tri-tip (I chose chicken). Chicken was cooked well and tender, bbq was sweet and tangy cheese melted through and the avocado was fresh. The sandwich was split in two and I folded it incorrectly so yeah check the bread to make sure it is folded right. Most of us sat outside on a nice day that evening and there was plenty of room for us. I didn't go inside but it seemed to a little bot of an old west interior to it, so I was a bit indifferent to the fact. This is a nice roomy place with beer and cider specials. We went in and ordered lunch, I ordered the fish tacos (grilled) and my husband ordered the the Big Italian sandwich. Absolutely horrible experience! I was completely disappointed in this place. The cashier was extremely rude and gave attitude when I asked a question about the ranch up-charge, and menu questions. She also gave unnecessary attitude when she was asked where the restrooms were. She then later proceeded to talk crap about my family and I to her coworkers while we were still there and made no effort to hide that she was talking rudely about us. Aside from the lack of professional behavior, their food was subpar. The fries and tater tots tasted odd and lacked flavor, McDonald's fries are better, and a fraction of the price. The tacos were also disappointing, again just lacking basic flavor and zero spice level for "street tacos". I don't understand why a company would be okay with having employees that are extremely unprofessional, rude, and deter future business. For years my family and I have visited Pismo Beach and have wanted to try this place, needless to say completely disappointed and not coming back. Edit: As evidenced by the company's AI-generated response and the consistent negative feedback in other reviews regarding staff conduct, there appears to be a lack of accountability and commitment to improvement.
