(I wish I could give zero stars but software won't let me). Some time ago I brought in my Saab for general service and had such a bad experience I will never go back. I didn't leave a review at that time as I thought I'll never go back there...so what's the point. Their annoying software kept prompting me for a review so here it is! I had brought my car in twice before for a oil change and some other small thing and noticed right away there was a pattern of up-selling. One bill was estimated lower but when I got it, it had doubled. This time around I think they were looking at my brakes. I was sitting in the waiting room waiting for them to finish and the front desk guy, (his name is Irish), started talking to me. By the way I'm a woman. He talked and talked and I was being kind listening but hoped the repair would finish soon so I could end the conversation. He was making sure I knew he was conservative for some reason. I suspected it was because I had a Bernie Sanders bumper sticker on my car. He then told me he had a son who was a Federal police agent of some sort, and how he was walking down the street wearing a Trump hat and a man came up and knocked it off his head. He detailed with relish how his son threw the guy to the ground, beat him up, handcuffed him and sent him away to jail for 9 years...just for knocking a hat off his head. What a douche! Both he and his son! I couldn't just get up and leave as they still had my car and were working on it. I had to sit there and try to deal with this jerk nicely until I got my car back. This creep needs to be fired! Do they not know they work in a blue city in a university district no less? Don't ever take your car here. There are many other options in town. I'll give them a two stars because I want to believe they'll do a proper job. Made a call to schedule an oil change and left a voicemail. I get a call back from a Wade, and I don't believe I've talked to anyone with worse customer service than him. He'll just repeat what he previously said in a condescending way, as if you're too incompetent to hear him. It's not what service or product you buy, (I.e and oil change), it's WHO you buy it from. Granted, you may say you're a mechanic, but you're also a business owner. Learn to courteously talk to potential clients. I had bad fuel in the tank of my old diesel Mercedes and was quoted $200 to drain it by the owner Wade, so had the car towed there. A day later "Irish" called to say they'd gotten the car started, which was the last thing I wanted, running more of the rotten fuel that I wanted drained. Then he says, "So I guess I'm just supposed to eat the work we've done?" I should have had it towed to a different shop at that point but agreed to have them pull the fuel tank and have it cleaned it at a radiator shop. They didn't bother to clean the fuel sending unit inside the tank, which was full of crud when I got the car back and I had to replace it myself b/c the fuel gauge wasn't working. Wade charged me $1400 including replacing the tank screen and hand pump on the engine (I supplied both parts). When I asked for the invoice from the radiator shop he'd crossed out the charges to conceal his markup. Now the clear pre-filter is showing sand or rust and needs replacement after less than 100 miles. Zero confidence in this shop's work, integrity. read more

I completely trust Irish and Wade with servicing my car! I'm so happy I finally took my car in after this last service of oil change and filter change. A different tire place said my brakes were good, but I could feel something was off. Irish recommended that we replace the front brakes and clean the bearings. I am so happy I listened to him because the car drives so well now. Years ago, I was so unhappy with the Mercedes dealership after getting my car back from a service, only to find something new was broken that hadn't been before taking it in. Eurocar treats my car so well! These guys at Eurocar are up front with what needs to be fixed, gives the price and fixes it all in a day or two (depending on how available parts are). I don't know that I've ever edited a 5 star review to a one star, but after my last visit I feel it's warranted. The first time I went to EuroCar Service it was for a simple oil change service and it was very reasonable in cost, easy to schedule and straightforward. The guy I deal with was nice and to the point. I had thought I had a place to bring my vehicle to for the foreseeable future for service. I wrote the 5 star review and started telling friends accordingly. Then time came around for another oil change and I was shocked. The bill was 80% higher than the previous year and I got a very hard upsell on something I later found out I didn't really need. I'm usually vigilant about such things but I'll admit due my stellar previous experience with EuroCar Service I (naively) believed everything the guy said about what I needed in addition to the oil change, how much it should cost and that it wasn't something I could do on my own (turns out it's a dead simple 3 minute thing they charged me 4X the DIY cost for, in addition to the 80% increase in oil change cost). Well guys, ya got me. Congratulations and hope you enjoy the (one time) few extra bucks. I consider it a re-education that you really can't trust almost anyone who works on a motor vehicle to think in terms of the long term customer relationship. A year ago I left a one-star review and it turned out to be a miscommunication or mistake in quotes that set apart my expectation (don't exactly remember what the cause was). The owner refunded me back the discrepancy and put $100 on my account for credit for future use. I was very satisfied with how they handled this incident. A huge shout out to Wade, Forest and crew for their honesty, prioritizing the customer before profit and excellent auto work. Today I went to a Seattle Dealership for an oil change. During routine inspection they shared that "My tech is currently working on the car and found something during inspection. Looks like the rear crank seal is leaking heavily. The crankshaft seal is what keeps the oil inside the rear of the engine and the leak can cause serious damage to the engine. The job is labor intensive (11 hours to replace) and parts are around $500. The total after tax is near $2500. I understand it's pricey repair. Let me know if you want to have it replaced and I can help with the pricing a little bit. Thanks." Fortunately, I had the car in a few days prior with EuroCar Service. They replaced my spark plugs and coils and didn't mention any other issues. My car is regularly and exceptionally maintained. I gave them a call and they shared they definitely did not notice anything and it could be a number of issues. They said bring it in and we'll take a look and give you a second opinion before you decide on any repairs. Since I hadn't smelled any oil, did not hear any noises, no lights came on and the car was just in for service--I decided to do that instead of approving the repair out of convenience. Smart move! Wade put the car up on the lift and found nothing! No action needed. They could of easily confirmed the dealers findings and underpriced them. But, they did not. I've been a customer at both places for years. My loyalty is with EuroCar Service who saved me $2500 of unnecessary repairs. Can't recommend or thank them enough. You might not always hear what you want but they give you the truth. From there, you can make an informed decision. What more can you ask for? read more

I came here for a prepurchase inspection, mostly because it was more convenient for both the seller and I. Read some reviews and decided to give it a shot - it's more expensive (about 25%) than other specialty shops immediately outside of Seattle (Shoreline, Lynnwood). There were a number of things on the car that weren't caught in the inspection. The headlight projector was aimed directly at the floor. The rear sunshade doesn't work. At this price point, I expected every button inside to be pushed at least once. While it could have been possible that these things failed immediately after the inspection, I find it unlikely. They did catch some things, most notably leaking valve cover gaskets. read more

Five whole stars to Mike and Wade and all the other guys at Eurocar Service! When the heat stopped working in my 2003 Passat, I took it to the University Volkswagen up the street to see what was wrong. Their diagnosis? A heater core replacement that was going to cost me $1200-1500. GOOD GRAVY no way was I going to do something like that without getting a second opinion or ten. $1200-1500 is a lot of shoes and vanilla lattes. Of the 12 VW/european car specialists that I called, Eurocar Service was the only place where someone asked "Why would your four year old car need to have the heater core replaced?" They took the time to open her up, found the coolant resevoir full of gunk, and told me that a good flush of the coolant system would do the trick. When it didn't work the first time and the heat stopped working again 20 minutes after I drove out of there, they flushed it AGAIN and didn't charge me for the extra labor. All told, I spent less than $500 and have HEAT IN MY CAR, hooray! The guys are friendly, fast and took the time to answer my questions without making me feel a) like a dumb girl, and b) like I was getting ripped off *coughdealershipcough*. Their hourly labor rate was a third less than what the dealership would charge. I can't recommend them strongly enough. read more

I like these guys. I've been going to Eurocar for a while and have waited to review. They are always polite, and that counts for a long, especially in Seattle. But I've had issues with them, but did not want to write a bad review. Finally I had to review. My first trip went ok, other than the cost. That is not something I can pin on Eurocar. My second trip was for one thing, but the radiator reservoir had cracks in it I was told, so they fixed that. But afterwards IT started overflowing and leaking when I had no obvious trouble in the past. I brought it back eventually when I could find the time, and they fixed it. But THAT time I brought the Passat in because it would not start. It sounded flooded. I had it towed down to Euro, and after looking at it only to find out it WAS flooded, it cost almost $500.00. For WHAT? I was idiotic not to negotiate a bit. The fellow told me that cars can flood if you start them and turn them off quickly. But I've had the car almost 10 years and it's never done that. If I had known, I'd have let it sit a day or so. No parts, nothing. Only to find out the car was flooded for $500.00. If they know of this phenomenon as professionals, don't you think they'd have considered it before taking the engine apart? When it arrived, I was even TOLD it sounded flooded. After I left this time I notice my emergency brake was not functioning. It was fine when I arrived at Euro, but when I left it was totally lose and just was not doing anything. It's something you immediately notice when you use the EB all the time. Again, nice people, but I think I've been overcharged in a BIG way more than once, and I feel that I leave with problems I didn't have when I arrived. It's really a 1 star because of that, but their courtesy bumps them to 2. On a side note, I'd never buy a VW again. Nice design, but the mechanics are horrific, and VW does not stand by their product. (ie, my back window motor is out in my 2000 passat, and starting in 2001 they did a recall on the back window motors, but not for mine? My Anti Lock Break system sensor is out. It's the size of your thumb, and costs more than $700.00, and is a common problem with VWs) read more

For my 2003 Golf's 40K service, one dealer quoted $575 and another quoted $550. (The $575 dealer had a $50 coupon so it would have been $525.) My friend had good luck with Eurocar so I gave them a call. Mike quoted around $450, and I decided to take a chance. The final bill came in at $406.37 and the car was done before 2pm. Mike guessed who I was from our phone conversation when I walked in the door. Overall, I was really happy with the price and friendly service. I will definitely be back. Why the 4 stars instead of 5? Remember -- 4 means "Yay! I'm a fan." I am definitely a fan of Eurocar. 5 is absolute perfection. They're good -- just not quite perfect, and here's a little bit about why. When I got home I looked at the invoice and the list of tasks performed was much shorter than the list in my manual. No mention of brake work asked for by the manual. Also, oddly enough, they rotated my brand new tires. The tires were on for 4 days so far. I guess I should have mentioned that to prevent extra work, but since they still had the yellow dot on the side and still smell new every time I drive them, I didn't think it was necessary. I called Mike back and asked him what besides an oil change really happened. I specifically asked about the brakes because the manual specifically says, "Brake fluid: Replace every 2 years regardless of mileage" and he said that the fluid looked clean to them. He asked if I had it flushed at the dealer, and I was pretty sure that wasn't the case since this was my biggest maintenance expenditure on the car so far. Spark plugs, cabin filter, engine air filter, lube moving parts - those seem to be the big things that made an oil change ($50 at the dealer) jump up over $300. I guess I had thought that the brake fluid flush would make up at least $100 of that, but since they didn't do that, I was a bit perplexed. They cleaned my battery and load tested it, but the dealer often does that for free with other services. (I know this because one dealer offered to install a new battery and cable for $330!) Mike did say that he will print me up a full list of the tasks they performed. Their invoice only has an abbreviated list. The hope of more documentation made me feel better and gave me an excuse to go back in the future. I'm still considering learning how to change my own spark plugs though. I used to change the ones in my 1984 Honda Accord. How much harder can a VW be? (Don't answer that!) So, in short, I would have preferred a bit more detail about the labor description in writing for my records. After all, the 40K is a decent sized service for a decent chunk of change, and I'm one of those anal retentive people who tries to keep their paperwork for the next owner. But, again, I'm a fan because they didn't do extra work for work's sake, and they saved me at least $170. read more

Imagine driving home and suddenly seeing white smoke barreling out of your tail pipe...would you freak out? Well I did! At the advice of a friend I called Eurocar to explain what had happened and to get a general idea of what might be happening. After speaking with Mike, I knew this was the place I would take my car. I'm always a little leery of being ripped off by mechanics but I felt pretty good about Eurocar. Plus their diagnostic fee was $20 less than some competitors (cough Daisey Wagon cough). As soon as I walked in the door I knew I would not regret bringing my car to them. I was greeted by Mike who was extremely friendly, recounted everything we had discussed on the phone, asked me several other questions to make sure they understood what was going on, and promised to call as soon as they discovered the issue. It cost me a bloody fortune to have all the work done on my car (blown turbo box, and several other underlying issues) but they were fantastic through the process. When I picked up my car, Wade walked me through everything that had been done and didn't treat me like a dumb girl. I am so greatly for the outstanding job they did. Just got a used BMW that sure enough, started leaking 2 weeks after I bought it. Took it to Eurocar based on their good reviews and I had a great experience! They got me in the same day, called me that afternoon to tell me what the issue was (bad pinion seal in the diff) and gave me a quote that seemed about right. The guy at the front counter was really friendly, informative and honest about managing my expectations on when it would be done. Well, I dropped it off on a Friday and on Monday at 4, it was done! (They are closed weekends). The price was fair, service was great and he spent a while with me after I picked it up explaining some other small issues to look out for in the future. Honest, incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, fast and affordable... we love this place! The first time I visited Eurocar, my VW Jetta started stalling out of the blue, no warning. I managed to make it to Eurocar and within an hour, I got a phone call. The problem with my car was under recall with VW so they told me to pick up my car and drive it a few blocks down the street to the dealership and have thousands of dollars of work done for free. The second time I visited Eurocar, I was about to drive to the Oregon Coast for my first vacation in over 3 years. A warning indicator light came on and when I called Eurocar, they said not to drive it. Instead of having to cancel my trip, they got the car fixed in a few hours and I was on my way. This shop is honest and incredibly knowledgeable. I wouldn't take my car any place else. We love them so much we took our PT Cruiser in and they did only the work that needed done unlike what the Chrysler Dealership was quoting (more than twice that!) read more

I recently started my Monday morning in a way I would not wish anyone to spend their Monday morning. Like a dummy not paying attention, I ran over something and destroyed my oil pan and eventually stalled on the side of the road. I wanted to ensure I had somewhere to take my car once the tow truck came (VW Jetta) so I called Eurocar Service and asked if they would be able to get me in that day. Michael explained he had a full schedule for the day and would try his hardest to get it looked at. After looking at my car briefly, he quoted me a price and explained that there was potential for other engine damage/more costs but they wouldn't know until the fixed the oil pan (yikes!). I don't know how they did it, but let's call it magic- at about 2:30 pm (I dropped my car off around 8:30 am) Michael called with good news- car was fixed and ready to be picked up- no extra damage! Went to Euro car for years but this new guy Irish at the front desk is arrogant rude and lacks any professional sense or simple courtesy to clients. Being from the Ozarks his country boy attitude does not help the business what so ever. Its unfortunate because the guys in the shop work hard and Irish tries to hard to fit in as he insults clients in the process. I had work done and had to bring my car back twice to get the problem solved not exactly the efficient use of my time or money. Wont be coming back as these guys dont care if your happy with their service or take any suggestion well either. They are very antagonistic Makes me feel they get a ton of complaints so they are very reactive and super sensitive....Not recommended at all. read more

Nice guys but this place isn't for me. I had brake work done a few months I had to take it back because it was squeaking wrong part. Also had an issue with my headlight of my Mercedes they replaced the bulb but threw the cover in the trunk. To me that's just plain lazy. At the referral of our Allstate agent, we brought our 2014 Fiat 500L to EuroCar Service after it stopped recognizing gears consistently. EuroCar was able to quickly diagnose and get our car running again. We are grateful and would love to work with them again. Backstory: We had previously brought our 2014 Fiat 500L to the Rairdon Kirkland Fiat Service department who told us that the car needed a new transmission, approx $7k. The Fiat had 18,460 miles. We wanted a second opinion. EuroCar Service ran a diagnostic which came up with an error code that had no documented description. Fiat did not provide them with a description even after Eurocar inquired. When looking at recalls related to the transmission, EuroCar found that in the recent transmission recall, each Fiat service center had the option to do a fast, inexpensive fix and/or a more expensive software fix. Rairdon Kirkland Fiat, where we had our car serviced, did the inexpensive fix. At our request, EuroCar ordered the part for the software fix (approx. $600 + labor). They called all Fiat dealers and service centers in the state to ask whether the part needed to be programmed or was plugnplay. After days of no response, finally Fiat in Tacoma responded that the part was plugnplay, and the next day the car was ready to go with no error codes. read more

Today Eurocar serviced my Saab 9.3 for the first time. All my antenna (how many do I have?) were alert and watchful for anything that smelled of auto repair chicanery. Sure enough, an hour into the standard 30,000 mile service, I got a call from Mike saying that the battery and brake fluid both needed replacement. Uh-oh. So when I came to pick up my car, I asked for some evidence that the additional work was necessary. And, I'm pleased to say, they produced the computerized test results without hesitation and with good cheer. So much for paranoia. Prior to making my appointment at Eurocar, I priced this service with Carter (the former Saab dealer) and was quoted $550. Another well-reviewed Saab shop quoted $325. Eurocar quoted $275, before the 10% Yelp discount. Eurocar communicates clearly and quickly about pricing, scheduling and service. Mike and Wade, the front desk guys (owners?) are friendly. The shop is sparkling clean. They did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it. I'm glad Yelp pointed me to these guys. I recommend them. read more

I brought my MINI here to get the timing chain replaced. I dropped it off on a Monday morning, hopped into the loaner and drove away. The next day I received a call from Michael to let me know that after cracking things open they'd found that it was more complicated than we thought...the cam shaft was broken and the part they needed was back ordered by about two weeks. Needless to say, this is did not make me happy, but EuroCar took great care of me. They let me keep the free (!) loaner while my car was stuck in their shop (Michael advised it really shouldn't be driven), and even called around to other shops/dealers in the area to see if anyone had the part they needed in stock. No one did, but once the part arrived from Germany my car was quickly repaired and at a decent price. Bottom line, I'll remain a customer for as long as I own the car. They made a terrible situation less so by offering me great service at a fair price, and I wouldn't hesitate to return or to send my pals in the MINI club their way. Thanks, EuroCar! read more

I've now had two services completed at Eurocar Service on my VW Jetta, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone! In the first service, a small electronic part needed replacement and they were able to diagnose the problem and replace it in just a few hours while I was at work at the nearby University of Washington (part of the reason I chose them was their location within walking/bus distance). The price seemed reasonable, and they didn't try to upsell me on anything, simply letting me know that my rear brakes would need replacement soon. Sure enough, a couple months later I started to hear my brakes grind and I called them up to set up an appointment. They initially said they were busy for the rest of the week, but when I mentioned I was going on a short road trip that weekend and would really like to get in before then they made room for me without any issue. I dropped my car off in the morning before work, and they had it finished by mid-afternoon. They even called and offered to replace a couple headlight bulbs I had out that were hard to reach and did so basically at the cost of the bulbs, even though I'd lost one of the retaining brackets and they had to fashion a new one. A 15% off coupon I clipped from their email newsletter made this visit even more reasonable- the brake job was more than some I've had at Les Schwab, but I think the Jetta brakes are more complex than most cars. I'll be due for a 80/90k full service soon and I'll certainly trust these guys to do it for me. They're easily as professional as a good doctor's office and friendly as your favorite bar. read more

Took my 2003 VW passat in to have an alternator replaced. The estimate from EuroCare was several hundred dollars less than the dealer's, and when all was said and done, EuroCare completed the work as-promised at the quoted price. And not only that, they finished two days earlier than promised! I'll definitely be coming back, and I encourage others to consult with Wade (the owner) when they need to get their car fixed. Had an incredible experience here! My car stalled on the freeway during rush hour. It was a frightening situation for me, having to call 911 and then AAA to avoid a collision. The tow needed a location to take the car to, and Irish was willing to take me in during this emergency despite being fully booked! Their diagnostic came at a reasonable price and they gave me a detailed description the next day of what was wrong with my vehicle. I could not believe how efficient and nice these guys were. I brought my FIAT in because my check engine light had turned on. I get a call from them a few hours later saying that they did a thorough examination and that my issue would need to be resolved at a dealership. Despite them not being able to help me, they didn't try and fix my problem haphazardly. They also did not charge me a dime for checking the car, and they called me in a very timely manor. I've been getting a run around from a few other places that won't admit when they're unfamiliar with a type of car and charging me an arm and a leg to essentially do nothing. Recently needed a quote for a new starter for my BMW e90, but the guy who answered the phone says they don't give quotes and he's very busy at the moment so told me just to go in a get a diagnostics. The problem with that is that I would've had to tow my car here and pay for a diagnostics and still be unsure as to whether or not I would want my car done here. First review on Yelp just to let others know what a scam this place is. 10 day wait for "appointment" which doesn't even mean your car will be fixed that day, even if it's a 2 hour fix. Was quoted more than Audi dealership pricing for a fairly simple coolant repair. Got it fixed elsewhere for less than half of Michaels quote. I don't frequently "yelp" but I need to share my experience. I went in to service my car and asked them to diagnose a popping noise. I got a call back saying it was my breaks, and that they were down to 3mm and needed to be replaced, as well as the rotors. I took the car to a different shop and turns out the breaks are new (silly me, I just moved and I thought the BACK were new, not the front) and that the actual problem was that my struts were out, which was causing the popping noise. Maybe this was a mistake. I don't know. The actual service was fine (in fact they quoted me 70 dollars less than the dealer) and the customer service was good, but this was quite an error and I may have ended up with $500 worth of repairs I did not need. Good thing I took the car in for a second opinion. The noise is gone, and the car feels like an entirely new car. I sincerely hope that this was an isolated incident.
