I would strongly recommend confirming the cost of any add-on services before they are performed. It's really unfortunate, because I believed MiniLuxe had such good potential and I was always intrigued whenever I walked past, but now I need a manicure that'll last more than three days so I am ready for college graduation. :(

The massage I received was a full body massage which included my upper back/shoulders where I hold a lot of tense. It was beneficial but as I understand it, it was not what I signed up for. During the massage, I asked if she would do my quads too. She did towards the end. Unfortunately I left the spa with the same pain in my left hip and quad that I walked in with. I wasn't expecting to be pain free, but I had hope for some kind of change

Second, the environment he works in is great. High ceilings, lots of natural light, homey and comfortable. Also I like that he is a sole practitioner so it's completely private. This was especially important to me the first time I went to him since it's such an intimate procedure. He immediately made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Third, he did a great job! Thorough and artful. Exactly what I was hoping for. If this is your first time getting waxed you should know, yes, it looks great, but even better is the results feel amazing - so superior to shaving. Super smooth and more sensitive. Even when the hair grows back no stubble, which I find very uncomfortable. Anyway, if you're thinking about it do it, and have Luis do the job. The experience and results are amazing.

Instead of using a single swift pull, this technician (Sheila) used a series of small pulls, which I believe led to the sores. But I'm not sure about that. What I can say is that I'm in my mid-50s, have been waxing for decades, and have never been left with sores/scabs. So this issue is distinct to this visit to EWC in Brookline, MA (and I've been to several others in the area). Additionally troubling is that I wrote a note to EWC stating the above to no avail, even offering to send them photos that I'd taken. Not only did no one contact me, I know they received my complaint because I got a follow-up survey inquiring as to my satisfaction regarding the efficacy of their follow-up. Incredible! You can't make this stuff up. I've even checked Junk, thinking "surely not, surely *someone* would have written back; maybe it went into the Spam folder." Nope. Non. Nada. Anyway, the woman at the front desk was lovely, friendly, chatty, and very welcoming. Despite that, unless I want more scabs, returning to this EWC seems unwise and so I won't.

I made the appointment two days from then, and she wrote it in the appointment book. Today when I came for my scheduled appointment, she said she forgot about my appointment and asked me to come back later that day. I asked her what was going? I said I almost canceled my appointment today because The coldness in which I was received. I said there's no need to make another appointment. There are plenty of nail salons around and a frequent customer should be welcomed. What a shame, cause I frequently recommended the salon and that specific nail tech.

The top coat wasn't applied properly because there are gel bubbles present.

My review is long overdue as I've been a regular since they opened Labor Day weekend. To get professional services at such affordable prices and conveniently located in the city is amazing I can walk, take the Orange line or Silver line depending on the weather and what else I have going on. My wax specialist is always dressed in uniform and very professional. She explained the unique four step process they use and I love the results. I get several areas done each visit and the hair is removed (almost) painlessly. They have packages and lots of other ways to help me save money. I bought some of the products and glad I did. My favorites are the ingrown hair serum, exfoliate and especially the body wash. Can't live without them now. They even offered a discount when I bought three. They have consistently provided the 'Ultimate Wax Experience' and put a great deal of effort into making it affordable. Couldn't be happier to have discovered them and they definitely have my recommendation! read more

Maria was AMAZING! About a month ago I had my first Brazilian Wax experience which was very painful and not the best first experience either. After my own research I realized that it depends on the technique used by the licensed esthetician and the type of wax that is used. I also did not do my due diligence by looking up prior reviews at the first establishment I went to. EWC uses the hard wax which makes for a more "ouchless" experience. Maria kept me cool, calm and collective by letting me know exactly what to expect and when. She also kept me busy by talking to me which made the experience much more relaxing. I had such a great experience from start to finish! Sarah M. who did my wax was absolutely amazing--professional, gentle, and made me feel completely comfortable the entire time. She was clearly very skilled and paid attention to every detail, which I really appreciated. The whole process was smooth and much less intimidating than I expected. I've been to several other places in the area, and this one is my new go-to. Even without the low price, this place is amazing. The receptionists are friendly, and they are super accommodating when booking appointments. While it's not a day spa, the estheticians are professional and clean (no double-dipping in the wax), and their hard wax method is pretty pain-free. It's an added bonus that the prices are less than other places in Boston. This place seriously takes all the stress out of waxing. read more

Not the best.. and i've been to a number of places to get waxed. Not only was it so painful, they left some hair.. which ok that can happen but i will not even step foot there again, the wax is horrible and the way they wax makes it painful and they re-wax on the same spot over and over and technically you shouldn't!! it just makes your skin red and burn and it hurts. I accidentally booked an appointment for the same day, just 10 minutes before the appointment time, when I had intended to schedule it for another day. About an hour later, I received an email informing me that I had been charged a $57 no-show fee. The most frustrating part is that it was clearly an honest mistake. Who intentionally books an appointment 10 minutes before it starts and then doesn't show up? The timing alone should have made it obvious that this was an accidental booking error. As soon as I realized what happened, I called and explained the situation. I wasn't demanding a refund. I simply asked if the $57 could be applied toward another appointment that I was willing to book immediately. Considering I had been a loyal customer for more than six years and spent hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars there over that time, I thought this was a reasonable request. Instead, the answer was no. I was told they had called and texted me after the appointment time started , but I never received any calls or text messages. I am in the area so if I had, I would have rushed over immediately. I followed up by emailing both the salon manager and corporate office, hoping someone would take a second look at the situation and use a little common sense. I have not heard back and at this point decided to just put this behind me. What disappointed me most wasn't the $57 itself. It was the complete lack of understanding, flexibility, and appreciation for a long-time customer. Businesses make exceptions for loyal customers all the time, especially when a mistake is clearly unintentional. This salon chose not to. And unfortunately, this isn't an isolated concern. I later learned that the company has also faced public complaints and legal action regarding failure to properly pay employees for sick time and other labor-related issues. That, to me, only reinforces the same pattern: a business that appears to prioritize strict policies and profit over both customers and employees. This experience confirmed what I've felt for a while: customer service is not a priority here. Policies seem to matter more than people, and there is little interest in building long-term relationships or treating either clients or staff with fairness and flexibility. After more than six years, I will be taking my business elsewhere. There are plenty of salons that value their customers enough to show a little grace when an honest mistake happens--and also treat their employees with basic respect. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. I want to emphasize I have never not shown up for an appointment all the years I have been a customer. I have never not shown up for an appointment for all the years I've been a customer.

She takes her time, cleans my cuticles very well and even though I had short nails, she always makes sure the look 5X longer ! Not to mention much healthier when I get them done here bi-weekly. I have come to this salon twice now. First time wasn't horrible, but the lady did the French tip…read moresoooo thick (see photo), the middle finger had a crazy weird shape, and one of them popped off not even a week in. I decided to give them another chance and it is even worse than the first time. Multiple nails aren't glued down properly. On the sides my real nail is exposed. The bottom of the nails weren't blended at all so that's why they look lifted at the base. Just overall poor work. No attention to detail whatsoever and sloppy work. I will not be returning. Overpriced tacky nails

I've been going to him since 2007 when I called up D's and asked for someone who specializes in curly hair. I have fine curly hair, but a lot of it. It frizzes easily especially when it's humid outside. I have been growing it out for a few years and I just needed a better cut. Fernando knew exactly what to do with my hair. He chopped it off like I asked, and I've never looked back. Not only has he made it look good super-short, but we came up with a plan once I decided to grow it out a bit. I've never been one to shy away from risks with my hair, though I never professionally colored it, because I know that it'll just grow back. No ANTM moments here! Fernando just goes with it and he always makes me feel like a million bucks when I walk out. Not to mention, he's the sweetest guy. We've become friends over the years and I love hearing about his family. Not only does he cut and style really well, but I know he wants it to suit me. He'll cut my hair into whatever I want, but he makes suggestions that will work better and I trust him! Fernando and his wife recently took ownership of the shop and to me, that can only be good for business.

Again, amazing service and a wonderful facial. I have had problem skin since I was a teenager. However, with Gwen's facials my skin has started to "sing" and the older I have gotten the better it is looking all thanks to Gwen! I also consider pricing to be very favorable at this cute business!
