Made an appointment and walked in 9 mins after start time. Have never been late for an appointment with them and have been a customer for years. I even buy packages which they push on you. The receptionist cancelled my appointment and said we can't take you because "you are 10 mins late". I said no I'm here and she refused. I'm happy to adhere to policies but if you are counting minutes then so am I. Disgusting customer service, you gotta do better. This was my first time at this location and it is nice to see that they have the same level of cleanliness as the one that's closer to me. They are easier to book with online. I got to my appointment early and was able to be seen early. I checked in at the front desk and was called back maybe ten minutes later if that. Jennifer was amazing. She was kind and able to hold a conversation. Being able to make conversation goes a long way. She talked through the process and made me feel relaxed the whole time. She's quick and thorough and even offered to tweeze what didn't come up with the wax. I appreciate the quality work. Overall great experience at this location. read more

This was my first visit to European Wax Center, I used to go to an independent place in the city. Since the place I used to go to is an independent salon, not a chain, I wasn't sure what to expect; but I was very happy with my experience. And honestly I may have been influenced by the DCC since EWC is one of their sponsors lol. The waiting area is very clean, I really liked the vibe, purple and red, some neon lighting and silver reflective surfaces. Kinda Vegas-y. The girls at the counter are very sweet and professional, although if you're paying in cash (as I tried) I was told they don't accept $100 bills bc they don't have a counterfeit detector pen. So use small bills! It has been a while since I last had a bikini wax- but you never forget what it feels like, lol! My aesthetician was Diana; she was very professional, explained the process and wax application, asked if I had questions/concerns and away we went. She made it as painless as she could, it's hard wax (not the kind with a cloth strip) though so it won't be pain-free. I always take Advil 30 min before my appt just in case and honestly, if I'm at home, go underwear free the rest of the day. I recommend EWC Glenview location, I left smooth and happy with the service. It was my first time there so I received a 50% discount when I booked ($35 total) they also have a "first time free" promo on certain services as well. Diana also informed me that if I thought she missed any areas, I could come back in a day or so (after the skin calmed down from the waxing) and they would do a free clean up of the area. read more

I have an upcoming trip this weekend and thought it was the perfect excuse to finally get a Brazilian wax done. I've always thought about doing it but the thought of having my hair ripped from my body never seemed very appealing - LOL. I sucked it up and decided to book. Initially, my appointment was at 7:30p. I got a call around 3:30-4p stating that my waxer stayed home sick and I needed to reschedule. I thought for sure this was my sign to cancel altogether - HAHA. Long story short, I rescheduled for 6:45p and I am glad I did. I saw Monica and she was amazing. Very sweet and aware this was my first time getting waxed at all, let alone a Brazilian. She was very careful and made sure to make me feel comfortable through the whole thing. It want by fairly quickly and she did a great job, very happy with it! In short: they're not awful. They're just not worth the money in my opinion. Pay a little more, go somewhere else, get better quality work. The pros to EWC are that I've always encountered very friendly staff and have always been made to feel comfortable. I also like that packages work at all locations since I travel quite a bit and they don't expire! Every location I've been to has been very clean and well kept. They're also reasonably priced but with that being said - you pretty much get what you pay for. Mediocrity at best. My very first Brazilian was at an EWC in California. I must have lucked out because the girl was great. I immediately bought a package and have been trying my hardest to use all the passes since - convinced I'd find another person I was semi happy with. No luck. I've been to this location twice now and have gone to two different women with surprisingly great reviews on Yelp. The first time wasn't great. This last time was really bad. The girl didn't even try to hold my skin taut or apply any sort of pressure. She was pulling straight out instead of the typical 45 degree angle. It was the most painful experience I've ever had - I left feeling bruised. When I got home I realized it was such a subpar job, I'm not sure what I even paid for. Or why I tipped her ten bucks. Or why I bought more product! For the first time ever I bought an at home, heat in your microwave wax from Sally's. Gigi's Brazilian. Having zero experience I was able to VERY easily and almost pain free clean up my bikini line. I didn't think it appropriate to take a picture of the before, but attached is a picture of my little wax strips. Should I really be able to remove that much hair if I JUST went to a "professional" that used a "higher quality" wax than this cheap $10 at home kit? Here's the kicker! And also where I get into the cons - she made me feel it was my fault in some way. She said the hair was too short. She said I needed to come more regularly. She said their body wash I was already using wasn't enough - I needed their body polish. She said the hair was stubborn. She said it was so painful because I was only four days out from my period. It wasn't until I got home and googled all of this that I realized it was a bunch of excuses for her inferior work. Generally speaking, I've had a lot of waxers say I have a high pain tolerance. It was definitely her and she was trying to displace the fault on to me. She was very nice though so I won't mention her name. This seems to be a theme with EWC. Maybe this is what they're trained to do? I've NEVER gone to Mario Tricoci and had them mention a single thing to me about what I should or shouldn't be doing. Although a slightly higher cost, they do a phenomenal job. Every time. Every waxer. Every location. EWC is also forever trying to sell you something - which I always stupidly buy and never once have I been convinced they're anything spectacular. They must be making commission or trained to do so. So there it is! Good luck with gambling at EWC. Emily, please don't write back about how I need to go more often. The website seemed to offer services for men, and they had decent reviews, so I thought I'd give them a shot (this is my first time thinking about waxing.) Services are only listed a la carte, so I added a bunch of what seemed like a full body wax would be into the cart, but having so many services at once made the available days vanish. I called to get advice on how they would recommend scheduling, and the woman on the phone was cold, standoffish, unhelpful, and made me feel like a plague victim asking for a ride. First time customer! Didn't know what to expect but heard terrific things about this group. I walked in to a clean facility (yay!) and a smiling front desk. Soon I was laying down to start the (dreadful!) process... I have to say my appointment was with Jackie, and she made it fly by! We could have talked for hours! I was referred by a friend as I used to break out with normal bikini waxes. The wax used here is different and really great for my sensitive skin. I've been going for quite some time and each time gets better and easier. The only downfall, I feel like everyone is constantly trying to sell me something. From the front desk to the ladies performing the services. The wax pass is a great idea when they pitch it, but I prefer not to pre pay for my waxes. Their passes would last me an entire year and then some, so essentially I'm paying a lot more money up front for something I may not use in the future. Each time I decline the wax pass and each time I go in, they give me numbers and try to sell me again. I guess I have to get used to the constant sells since the wax is the best for me. read more

I used to like this place. Very poorly managed. For my first appointment I was told that the technician was running 15-20 minutes late. This was unacceptable as I was on a break from work. I had an appointment today at 3pm and at 3:05pm I was told that my technician had an emergency. I was also on a break from working. I really wanted to like coming here, but good lord - STOP with the sales of your monthly memberships and to buy all your products. If someone says "no thanks" to $198.00 up front cost then please STOP! Also, please do not badger me on how to style my brows and that your products are better than what I use. Came here for the first time today for a brow wax w/ Katie. She filled them in right away so I didn't get to see how they looked after the wax, but when I got home and washed off the makeup I wanted to cry. I usually go to the Lombard location, but the Glenview location is closer to my house. I have a wax pass and had an appointment with Elsa. I had services for eyebrows and a Brazilian. She never had me hold my skin taut and barely applied any pressure. Only to get home and find quite a few spots that were blantantly missed! Now that it's been a couple weeks, and my hair is growing back, I am COVERED in ingrown hair follicles. Almost every follicle is red, inflamed, and uncomfortable! I've been waxed multiple times at EWCs and have not had this experience before! I will not be returning to this location and definitely never getting waxed by Elsa again! I could not be more disappointed with the recent services at European Wax Center. I've been coming for over two years. Within the last 9 months something has gone wrong at this location. It started with Drea leaving the business, then the manager and then a few more "transfers." When I first started here, it was so great i bought a package. Now there is so much turnover that you cannot get a good wax or even see the same person twice. New estheticians seem to break hair instead of actually using the proper wax techniques. Beware! I went to get a Brazilian wax today (fortunately for me I was able to get a last minute walk in appointment). I honestly don't remember my waxers name but this was not such a good experience. When I got home to shower I noticed a section of hair that was untouched and also I had a a piece of wax with hair still attached to it that I believe should've been removed by the waxer. Had my first wax experience about 3 wks ago and also referred my sister..who had her first experience today. Katie was the specialist for both of our visits and she was awesome! She made sure that we were comfortable, she explained every step and she was very open to answering all of our questions and concerns. Customer Service: The receptionist that was at the counter for my visit was very nice and pleasant....the receptionist that was at the counter for my sisters appt was AMAZING! I believe her name was Sheila...The front desk staff is the face of the company and they have one of the hardest job ever and don't often get the praise they deserve. I am an office manager and I can honestly say this girl exceeded my customer service expectations! Friendly, knowledgeable and just a pleasure to speak with. This is an updated review. I left a message through the ap and on FB looking to be contacted. If I was reviewing just based on my experience yesterday I would have rated lower. I'm a regular customer and have only had positive experiences until yesterday. My bad for arriving as a walk in. The woman who waxed my brows clearly did not want to. I felt like I was an imposition. It was more painful than usual but the shape was ok so I did not complain on my way out. 24 hours later I am still red and I was clearly burned from wax being too hot. Ideally this will never happen again. If this was my first time I would not be back. read more

So I had an appointment at the Glenview location set for 4pm. The esthetician I originally booked for became unavailable for the day but Carolen at the front desk called and even texted me in the morning to notify me, offering to either reschedule or choose another esthetician to work with. I appreciated this and had high hopes so I decided to go on with the appointment with a different esthetician and agreed to meet them at 4pm. I got another call an hour before but the call disconnected and I did not receive any new messages or voicemails for any changes to my appointment. I arrived at 4pm and did the door scan check-in. However, no one responded and it has now been an hour since I've waited. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but upon walking up to their door a few times it seems they might have closed for the day. Worst Brazilian EVER!! I ended up with bruises and tender skin for DAYS!! They didn't even get all the hair so I had to go home and shave. I saw large patches she had missed which she did go over a second time, but ONLY cause I asked her to. When I got home, I realized she had actually left ALL the underneath unwaxed!! What's the point of a Brazilian if the underside isn't done?!? I've been getting Brazilian waxes on and off for about 10 years, but this was the most traumatic and painful experience ever!! Drea took her time, and helped clean up my problem skin (bumpy and ingrown hairs). The breathing technique she suggested also greatly reduced the pain I experience during waxing.
