Went in here tonight hoping that maybe my tense shoulders and knots would be relieved. They are soooo great. No more headache, no more tense areas. It was really quiet inside with a lot of tables and chairs. They were very organized and someone was assigned to me right away. It was also very clean and hygienic as they changed the covering and laid down new towels before and after my massage. Worst massage experience EVER! Awkward massage. I was tense the entire time. Massage therapist chatted with her fellow therapist while working on me which just added to my experience NOT BEING RELAXING. Man at the counter tried to increase my tip TWICE. He actually covered the machine with his hand and changed my total...TWICE! Thankfully I clearly saw what he was doing and quickly hit the button to cancel the transactions both times. read more

Sometimes I get a therapist that goes hard like I need, but more often I get someone who does not have the strength or training to massage strong enough. They don't let you pick your therapist, so it's a 50/50 shot on getting a good session. read more

Each experience and body worker I've seen has exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere is simple and clean, the music isn't intrusive or irritating, the therapists are very skilled and knowledgable, and the price and clothes-on technique allows it to be easily accessible to anyone at any time of the day. Beware: this is a Chinese acupressure place- if you are looking for a true massage, this is not it. They apply pressure with their elbow or fingers on your pressure points, but they do very little hands-on massage, rubbing or manipulation of your muscles. Not the place to go for sore neck, sore back, sore shoulders, arms or legs. We have been here many times and feel like the quality and service is way down. No one speaks english so there is no way to communicate anything you want or need, or even a concern or problem. The ability/skill of each person varies greatly- only a couple of good ones, the rest are bad. They do speak and whisper to others while working on you. Last time, the gal who was giving me a massage actually left me and a guy came to fill in for 10 minutes, then the gal came back- very strange. Went in to get a massage today. It was my second time being here and my first experience was good. The massage part was good. However at the end of the massage the lady who gave me the massage said "tip tip." I did have my wallet out and was gonna give her a tip anyways but for her to come out and say it was straight out unprofessional and rude. I do think this place is a good deal but the customer service could use some work. It'll take me a while before I go back if I ever do. read more

Prices are affordable, $26 for a 40 minute massage. You choose foot, table or chair massage and how long. If there is a wait they tell you exactly how many minutes. Used to love Evan's but the quality has slipped. Today I am truly sore from my combo massage. I knew going in I would get pot luck and not be able to communicate, but in the past they have checked the sign in sheet to see pressure and speed preference, and go by that. This time the provider felt rushed and angry and was too rough. Then, the plea for a tip, which I refused to leave this time. I miss Evan's! Not bad for $35. I woke up in my hotel bed feeling like my back morphed into the Rocky Mountain over night. OUCH! All I could think of was getting a nice massage. Being spoiled by the many places in LA where you can get quality service for amazing prices I was on the search for one here in Santa Barbara. I read the reviews for the Relaxing Station and decided the give it a shot. When I walked in I was greeted by two nice ladies. From reading the reviews on yelp I knew to fill out the form on the counter. strength, speed, and type of massage. I chose the combination massage( half full body and half foot) for an hour. As soon as I was done there was a REALLY excited energetic man who I assumed was "my guy" he was nice and spoke very little English. But on to the massage. It was nice I expected to feel a little better with this Rocky Mountain back, I don't. But then again maybe it takes some time. Overall the massage was nice, and relaxing. I'd have to say the MUSIC sucks. It was nice until it began to sound like a tsunami hit the beach and attacked horses and birds. After my thirty minute back massage I was guided to the foot massage station where there was a basket of warm warm water waiting for my feet. I soaked there for a bit then he got to it. Overall I had a good experience. There was a HUGE sign reminding me to tip. If you're looking for something a bit relaxing I'd give it a try. Just don't expect miracles. read more

I love this place. It doesn't bother me in the least that no one speaks English and I don't need it to be perfectly silent. For that I have to pay more for a private massage. The people that make the most noise are the patrons who walk in and demand attention. Every massage is awesome. I ask for "very slow" and pressure strength "7" on their sign in sheet and that's what I get. It's super cheap and I'm sure they don't get paid much so I always tip very well. read more

I have been going to Evan's for maybe 3 years now consistently, as it is such a great place! It's a steal of a deal and very flexible options for 1/2 hour, 40 minutes, or full hour. Back massage or foot massage, both are top notch. All your clothes are kept on and it's an acupressure style, and very satisfying, a little different from the typical strip down and oil massage (which are very expensive!). Staff are very friendly and professional. And it's so quick and easy, no appointment necessary, just spontaneously show up (as I do since I never know when a suddenly am so stressed and need some relief), and they have many massage therapists. It can get busy at popular times but almost never do I have to wait. They are all well trained, but I have my favorites. Hours are good too, open to 10:00 pm 7 days a week. I never get a typical spa massage anymore, I am happy here and save gobs of money, and ut's so convenient! Check this place out! No wonder it was rated "Best Massage in SB" by The Independent newspaper. read more
