I spotted this place while running the Surfer's Path Half Marathon. After completing the run I saw the great reviews and decided to try it. I was very please with the service. We were welcomed and we chose to sit at the patio. Super cozy and warm. I order the cafe de olla and my partner order a bloody mary. The portions of the food were good. I think the food is different than the Mexican food I am used to but it were definitely delicious. We were there on a Sunday and enjoyed the performance of a duo! Overall great experience. read more

They have an extensive menu of American and Mexican breakfast and lunch dishes. I had a 3 egg omelette with shredded pork and green chile sauce that was delicious. Came through from out of town and swung by this spot after I found the original place I was going to check out was closed for the day. Got the salmon benedict and was not disappointed. Good, balanced flavor. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the fish flavor didn't overpower everything else. Also added some tapatio which gave it the perfect little kick. Service was great. Mitchell (hope I remembered his name correctly lol) and the other guy there were very kind, hospitable, and made sure everything was to my liking. We were driving PCH and search Yelp to have lunch in the Santa Cruz area. This restaurant is the only one with 5 stars and saw they have salmon benedict on the menu. I ordered the Quesa birria tacos. We cleaned our plate because it was good. The portion size was just right and not pricey at all. The owner wanted us to try his cranberry scone and was also delish. When driving there, turn on the parking lot when you see the salon. The place looks small outside but lots of space inside and they have a patio. We highly recommend this place and will go back to take the kids. read more

Ok first off, I stop by on a whim while riding my bike. I arrive about 35 before they closed after lunch. It was a beautiful day I ate outside on a nice patio. I did not have a problem with the proximity of the chairs to the street but use your judgement; I saw the specials menu on the outside and I wanted to try their Chilaquiles with eggs. You can add chicken / steak or Birria. Since I still had to ride my bike I opted to skip the meat. You can also pick from either a green or red sauce. I asked for a sample and wow! Both sauces are fantastic! I selected green which the chef said was slightly more popular. These are not mild sauces not too hot, but packed with flavor. The chips were perfectly crispy. The over medium fried eggs were also cooked to perfection I can strongly recommend this dish I wish I tried the Birria the chef says it's the same sauce he uses in the red sauce. I'm coming back. My girlfriend and I had breakfast here on a quiet Friday morning. It was our first time here, and it did not disappoint. The service was great. I believe our servers name was Brian. He was kind and courteous. We split a shrimp omelet and a chile Verde omelet because it was hard to decide what to try. Both were delicious. Based on the reviews my daughter and I decided to try this place out. The Brunch menu appealed to us but when we got here and saw that they had quesabirria tacos, we were in. OMG! They did not disappoint. We paired them with their delicious mimosas and made for a great lunch. Location is gorgeous and his it's own parking lot. Their back patio is quaint and welcoming. Food is great. However, the management thinks it's ok to FREEZE YOU OUT by keeping the front door open during frigid, foggy mornings, like, really cold conditions! I don't understand the thought process and after a few visits with the jerks up front keeping the doors open, with the cold fog BLOWING IN from the beach, we stopped going. Period. It's all about the jerky behavior with freezing out customers. Such a shame, but if you put jerks in charge, you get bad results read more

I have to say that I was really hopeful when I read the prior reviews. Unfortunately this place did not live up to any of them. I walked in and immediately noticed the place was freezing cold, well if you leave the front door open and it's 50 degrees, that can happen. The place is pretty bare, some tables against the walls and a back area which looks like an enclosed patio. I was greeted by a pleasant waiter and told to sit anywhere. Took a table next to a small heater. The menu for breakfast had most of the staples you would expect. I had the Machaca Scramble which condensed of a few pieces of tasteless pork, scrambled eggs, some bits of cheese and that was it. I hunted for the fresh jalapeño and red onion but no luck. The hashbrowns were brown on the outside and cold on the inside. On the plus side, the tortillas were really good and so was the salsa. Maybe they were having an off day, it happens. read more

I am currently sitting here enjoying my lunch and it's so delicious I felt inclined to stop and leave my review. This place is delicious! It's in a cute little restaurant on east cliff drive and can easily be missed while driving by. Take your time to stop here and eat. My Husband is having the quesbarria tacos and I'm having the pomodero pasta! Both are amazing and how fun to have Mexican food and pasta on the same menu! It's family owned and everyone is incredibly nice. Do yourself a favor and stop here, support a local business, and eat some incredible food! We will definitely be back! read more

This place is a fantastic little find in Santa Cruz off the beaten track. I had breakfast here a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday with a couple of friends and we were all just overwhelmed with how good it was. They have multiple seating areas - inside, enclosed patio in the back with heat lamps, and a front patio on the street. We sat out back and it was real nice with the heat lamps going. There were several other customers seated out back but it wasn't too loud and you could comfortably hear your tablemates. Two of us had the Huevos Rancheros and the other person had Chile Relleno. All of the food was delicious. And the presentation was top notch. Very fancy and whoever was cooking made delicious, tasty, well seasoned, delightful fare. My friend that had the Chile Relleno said it was the best she's had in the area. I was thrilled that they were adaptable with the Huevos Rancheros to make one plate with soft (home made) corn tortillas (their standard is a crispy corn tortilla). And they also happily scrambled my eggs instead of the over easy on the menu. The waitstaff was really good, too. She took our drink orders promptly when we sat down and came back and took our orders timely, too. She checked back regularly for more coffee and more water. She also brought us a basket filled with home made corn tortillas and a really spicy house salsa when she brought our meals. The salsa is great! Looking forward to going back here soon. read more

Evarista's Comal off of East Cliff is such a hidden gem for homemade, authentic Mexican birria. It presents itself as a breakfast spot, but keep an eye out for their daily specials, which always has delicious Mexican dishes. The birria plate has such a hearty portion of the birria de res, consome, rice and beans. Best part are the handmade tortillas made with love! This is the quality and authenticity I miss from Mexican spots in San Jose. So grateful to have found this place down the street im my new neighborhood! read more
