I came here on a Friday after work . Looking for a place to help my thin , cracking nails. I passed by a few places that only took cash. ( I had card) I finally found a place on Main street that took card and saw many people getting their hair / nails done. So I asked the woman at the counted if I could get my nails done. She pointed to another Korean woman and asked her if she could ask me what I wanted. The woman asked me what I wanted. I responded my nails. She spoke back to the woman at the counter speaking in Korean: " I don't want to take her , make her wait for someone else" she then responded in English: maybe 20-30 minutes. Sadly, I agreed , because I had a dinner date, and was a bit pressed for time. One hour and forty minutes later I was taken care of. After I had asked numerous times when it was going to be my turn. I had seen that all of the women who worked there , already turned new clients since I had gotten there. I was so annoyed, but determined to get my nails done. Finally, I was already with my color in hand, walking to my chair. When I got to the nail tech's table, I was greeted with a small tag on a stand that read: "Lucy". Lucy looked at my nails, and proceeded to file, and cut without asking what I wanted. I told her I wanted round edges and I got squared. " its more better " she said. I had picked a metallic color and she told me: " take pink. It looks nice. " I explained to her that I want a metallic color, that's why I picked it. I don't want pink. She proceeded to do my nails, adding the acrylic powder, she paid attention to this, maybe a little too much. When it come to pay, I gave her my card and she looked at me confused. "$24" she said. When I got back the receipt, it said " $25" I just assumed the extra $1 was tax. After signing my receipt, I was looked at intently by Lucy, she just sat there looking at me. I asked, " do you want me to go wash my hands? " she nodded. At this point my date had called and asked me what was taking me so long. I had explained I had come to a nail salon and from the last time we spoke, (6pm when I had walked in the salon) until that point, -9:30pm. I still hadn't gotten my nails painted. He asked me if I had spoken to them in Korean, being Korean himself, he thought they we're taking advantage of me. I responded no because they are going to see I am American like many others and just not respond. He hung up with me and I went back to my char. She still looked at me , I said what happened? She responded "no tip?" So I gave her a five dollar bill, she looked disappointed, so I gave her $2 more and she started to finish my nails. At this point my friend had come walked up into the salon looking for me. He was already beyond impatient waiting for me . He asked her: " How much longer?" She responded back : "10 minutes and then she dries" she paused at a moment and looked up when she realized my friend and I were talking to each other. Then she glared at me. Maybe because she thought I called him, but he had come on his own. I also noticed I wasn't treated like the other customers. ( no hot towel, and no lotion etc.) After she had painted them, I had noticed that one of my nails were cut and filed crooked. I had tried to show her but then she said "sorry we're closed". That was the last straw for me, instead of making a fool of myself, and yelling, and getting upset over ignorance. I left . I walked out of the place , said "Have a good night" and walked outside with my friend following behind. He convinced me that I should go back ABC make them fix my crooked uneven nail. I was hesitant, I didn't want to go back there and have than think I was being a nuisance on purpose. I called this morning and spoke in my best Korean ( which, according to my co workers, is like speaking to a native 12-year old) to someone on the phone, and I told her what happened to me, she said she was sorry, that sometimes the girls rush because they want to go home. She said come back and she will have someone fix it. I got my nail fixed, which was worth it, but what was better was the shocked-but-dirty looks I received from some of the staff there. As they saw me speaking to the woman at the counter in Korean. :)

The few times I came to purchase cosmetics the staff was standing over me making me feel very uncomfortable. I would never go here again.

I've seen Japanese, Korean, and Chinese so far in facial care and hair care. And BB creams! What a selection of BB creams! The staff here was very helpful too. They approach and ask every now and then to make sure potential customers aren't lost and confused (might feel awkward if you're just browsing). The sales lady approached me and asked me in Chinese if I needed any help but when i told her i didn't understand she spoke to me in English. I told her i didn't need any assistance yet she kept following me around for a bit. This made me uncomfortable and it was easy to tell that I was nervous and awkward, but i know she was following me because I probably came off as some creepy shop lifter or something(I kept browsing and picking up things and I had to check my money in my bag discreetly). That's one thing, you have to know what you want to buy before entering so they can take you seriously, this goes for a lot of cosmetic stores in flushing. They have a large selection of eyeliners, bb creams, skin care products, eyelashes, powders, face masks, skin care etc. What drew me into the store was the bb creams. In the glass window display at the left side of the store, you could see all the brands of bb creams like skin79, lioele, missha etc.. They sell the REAL Skin79 hot pink triple functions bb cream for $30, which is cheaper than fashion city's price, but it definitely be cheaper to buy online. They also have many powders and compacts, I saw that they had some lioele compacts, blushes and bronzers and other asian brands as well. They have so much eyeliner! There was a whole wall/rack of it in the back right hand corner. I bought the MSH eyescream gel liner which was $20.00.I asked her if they had gel eyeliner and she recommended this one stating that she had even used it on her eyes that day. They even had Dolly wink products : eyeliners,eye-shadow palettes, eyelashes + lashes case. The Dolly wink eyeliner was $18-22 dollars which is cheaper than Belle's Beauty lab in the Queen crossings mall next to mango(which sold for $25). It's a great store with a large variety of Asian cosmetics :)

The lady who facilitates you trying on wigs tells me that she can't let me try on the display wig in the front but that she can let me try on completely different wigs. I asked if it was because they didn't have this one in stock and she tells me that they have plenty of them in stock but that she cannot open a new package to try on and I can't try on the display. I let her know that it wouldn't be helpful for me t try on a completely different wig and to then purchase one that I haven't tried on because they won't let me try on the display but will sell me untried, unopened ones of that display wig. I proceeded to leave but figured I'd give the store a try so I approached a guy who was the owner or manager of the store at the cashier. The line was without any customers at that time I approached and I had waited my turn so I can speak to him. I asked him if there was a policy that they had indicating I could not try on the display because that's what I was told out back. He said that wasn't true but that if they didn't have any new ones of that display the obly one I could buy world be the display. I told him that I was just told that I couldn't try the display and that there were plenty of new ones in the back. He then looked confused and said well, that's just because once we open a new package we can't sell it. He then proceeded to take a customer and I waited to the side so he can finish helping me as he said he would. He didnt. He took a 2nd customer after the 1st one that I had the patience to wait for and completely ignored me while I stood in front of his register. Sad that I've been coming here for years and this is how they treat a customer. With complete dishonesty and neglect. Never again.
