She was in touch with me as often as I needed her to be and was always responsive to my emails and calls. What can I say. I found Evelyn 19 days before my wedding and it was the best decision I made. I found out within a month that planning a wedding is HARD. I made a list of six different event planners nearby and Evelyn was the third one on my list. Given all her glowing reviews, I almost hesitate to leave mine, but I will do so (1) because it's important to be honest; (2) because it's not a BAD review; and (3) hopefully this will help with future services. All in all, Evelyn is nice and pleasant. She gets the job done. We hired her as our Day-Of Coordinator. On the day of, she was very reassuring to the crazy bride (me!) amidst all the chaos. She was pretty good at keeping track of the timeline. Prior to the wedding, I had some reservations. This was because my meetings/phone interactions with Evelyn always seemed rushed. This is probably because she is very popular and busy, but it didn't feel good to be brushed off (e.g., "Okay, is there anything else?"; "Okay, I have to go to my next meeting now."). During the few times I asked for her recommendations for vendors, I felt that they were suggested haphazardly (e.g., "He's ok for your [lower] price range."). Sometimes, I felt that I had to work around her schedule rather than vice-versa. She did, however, do a fantastic job following up with other vendors during wedding week and was very reassuring on the phone the week of the wedding, when things were beginning to get stressful. On the day of the wedding, she generally helped keep things calm. She was really helpful with random details and tidbits that came up. However, there was a hiccup between her team and some of my bridesmaids (who were in charge of relaying a décor request from the bride). The request involved spending some extra time in the heat hanging things up, and the coordination team reacted negatively to (and tried to brush away) the request. Eventually, the job was done (very nicely), but the bridesmaids still had to do some of the décor/set up (luckily I had many bridesmaids!). When the wedding ended, Evelyn and her team were generally good at helping organize things together and clean up. One thing that was a disappointment, though, was that they stopped and disappeared abruptly and left the rest of the cleanup to the bride + groom + family. So I (bride) had to literally walk things from the venue to the dumpsters in the back, in my wedding dress. Not sure what that was about, or if it was a misunderstanding. Luckily, we had a number of family and friends who stayed behind and helped, but if we didn't, that would have made for a pretty mediocre end to the celebrations. All in all, this was an okay experience. Not stellar, but not bad either. I'd like to think my experience was a fluke, since other reviewers had such amazing experiences. Where do I begin? I found Evelyn after inquiring with several high-end and well-reviewed wedding planners in San Diego. To my surprise, none of the other wedding planners responded at all. Evelyn is beyond amazing. We had such a beautiful wedding and it really was all because of the vision and execution from Evelyn. I saw her wonderful work with my friend's wedding and knew that she would be great to work with. Just for the heck of it I did look around at other planners. Anytime I tried to ask other planners about fees, they would ask what my budget was. That felt shady to me. Not with Evelyn. She has set pricing which is not the case with a lot of other planners in SD. So other planners will increase their fees as the cost of your wedding goes up (which is no incentive to keep you in budget but instead drive the costs up). Evelyn does everything to keep you in budget and is not pushy at all. She is a person with serious integrity and is extremely professional, yet at the same makes you feel like she's one of your close friends. I was so thankful we did the full package because I needed her throughout the whole process. She gave so many great vendor recommendations and I recall one of them giving me a serious discount because I was working with Evelyn. She finds great deals too (I paid $60 dollars for a specialty gluten free grooms cake! $500+ elsewhere) This package saved me time and money! She also lets you use her rentals for free at that level package so that is a real money saver and you don't have to bother with buying things yourself which can be such a hassle. We lived in a small apartment so we didn't have to house basically anything for the wedding besides my dress! I would imagine she is wonderful at any level package, but I have to say I am so grateful I made room in my wedding budget for the 3 carat package. At the end of the day it allows you to be less stressed and enjoy the process. On top of that her design is above and beyond and she is so creative and has a vision I could never come up with on my own. Even though Evelyn had done weddings at Scripps Seaside Forum before, I would have trusted her to be able to create a showstopper wedding anywhere. On the day of the wedding everything on Evelyn's part was top notch and smooth as could be. Evelyn is extremely organized and on top of everything before you probably even think of it. There wasn't one missing detail and I imagine that's pretty hard to accomplish! She's very accessible and understanding of any needs you might have. My wedding was so beautiful and stress free because of her. I can't imagine there would be a better option for a planner in Southern California. I would use Evelyn again in a heartbeat. Evelyn and her team were fabulous!! When I first met Evelyn right after I got engaged I knew she was a perfect fit to help us plan our wedding day! She is super organized so that every little detail is completely planned out well in advance. She helped us set a budget, gave recommendations for all of our vendors, gave us a wedding timeline to make sure we were on track and followed up with us often throughout the process. She was easy to get in contact with and responded to all of my questions in a very timely manner (even when she had just had a baby!). She met with me and a few vendors several times to make sure we were all on the same page. I also loved that she has several items for rent so that I didn't need to purchase them on my own. Wedding day ran perfectly and seamlessly. Evelyn and her team handled everything exceptionally well. I had absolutely no stress at all because I knew I was in good hands. Amazing Wedding Partner! I had found Evelyn on the Knot app and had reached out to a couple planners before finding her. I was SO happy to have found her because she is the most kind and responsive planner. I was planning my wedding from Minnesota for an Escondido, CA wedding which could have been hard. Evelyn made it so easy for me! What was even more great, was that because I didn't find her until after I had chosen a couple of vendors, and she was so willing to work with vendors she didn't know but to my delight, most of them she had worked with before and they all had wonderful things to say about her and her about them too! A perfect marriage! When I needed some other suggestions, she was quick to find me some TERRIFIC vendors, which made planning from afar, amazing! Evelyn was hired as my day of coordinator for our wedding this past weekend. I am not one to write reviews, but her service and attitude was AMAZING!! I am so thankful she was there with me, and made the evening flow. It was nice to have a vision, and have someone else come in and execute it even better than I had ever imagined. As a control freak myself it was refreshing to relax, and just be in the moment and not worry because Evelyn had it handled. She worked so hard and went above and beyond in everything I asked her to do. Add her little touches here and there! I appreciated her taking time a few weeks before our wedding day to meet with my fiancée and I at the venue. I started working with Evelyn 10 months prior to my wedding on 9/25/15 at The Prado at Balboa Park. Throughout the entire planning process, she provided support and guidance, along with patience and creativity. Evelyn is very organized and timely when she responds to emails, which I appreciate. We had multiple emails, phone and Skype conversations (i live out of town) and with each one I felt more reassured that I was "on track" with the planning process. I considered myself a fairly organized Bride, however she would bring to my attention little details and ideas that I would have never thought of. Her vendor recommendations are SPOT on. Evelyn was the best part about the wedding planning process! We found her through theknot.com based off all her amazing reviews. We live in Arizona but had our wedding in La Jolla California at the Estancia. I was so nervous about how I was going to work a full time job and plan a wedding from 3 hours away. Thank God we found Evelyn! We knew within a couple minutes of meeting her that she was going to be the best wedding coordinator! She was the first vendor we booked! Her constant support and guidance made the entire process easy and fun. She is such a sweet person and her love for weddings and her couples shows in her work. Once we booked her she provided numerous resources such as a checklist, budget keeper, AMAZING vendor referrals, guest list manager, and much more! Every vendor we booked was referred by her and they were all so wonderful. The day of the wedding all the vendors worked together to make sure our day was nothing short of perfection. She really put together a great team of people based off what we envisioned about our big day. For the entire 10 months of the wedding planning process she was available and always checking up on us to make sure we were on track. Since I work full time it was really hard for me to meet with her during the week but she always made time for me in the evenings or on the weekends. I sent her so many emails and she would respond that same day, almost immediately! I became the most indecisive bride when I started this process and had a hard time making decisions. I would just ask Evelyn what she suggested and she was always spot on! Also, she had so many beautiful rentals that were very affordable. She also created custom signs for the wedding that turned out so good! My family and friends were amazed at how well she pulled everything off the day of the wedding.
