Obviously a business that cares more about profit than customers. We had to cancel a trip due to a severe illness. The EVEN Hotel refused to credit back our stay even though we gave them 5 days notice. Granted, it was a "non cancelable" reservation, but so were the airlines, AirBnb and other booking we made. They were the only ones who held on to their profit instead of doing the right thing and making a complete refund. How sad! They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Thank you to EVEN HOTELS for making our wedding experience wonderful. While we didn't have our wedding there, we booked 2 rooms to get ready in and my husband and I stayed a couple days after the wedding. The staff is s friendly and patient. Admittedly, we were much needier than normal, since we were getting ready for a wedding. It seemed like we couldn't ask for too much. The staff was prompt with our requests and very accommodating and smiled through it all. It was a truly kind and welcoming experiencing. We will certainly recommend this location to friends and family and if we ever need a hotel in BK again, we'll certainly consider staying here. Thank you again to the wonderful staff! read more

I stayed here for one night due to the close proximity of a show I attended at the Brooklyn Academy of Music which was 6 minutes away. First, I want to say that the staff at the front desk were very helpful and friendly during my stay. Right when you walk in, you'll notice that guests can treat themselves to a free cup of water. You also get to keep the water bottle that is in your hotel room. I love that this hotel promotes health and wellness! Highly recommended if you are in Brooklyn. read more

Avoid booking at Even... after dealing with 24 hours have travel induced chaos, Even hotel was anything but accommodating and clearly customer service / hospitality is not at the top of the list. I had to miss my flight due to unforeseen circumstances from Seattle to NYC. I contacted Even directly, they put the blame on Expedia that there was nothing they could do. They told me to contact Expedia and they would help me out. Expedia then told me the hotel was not allowing any sort of refund. I wasn't even expecting a full refund, was willing to pay a cancellation fee. I couldn't make it to New York for a family emergency, I missed my flight and the airline doesn't give proof when you miss a flight, so to pay full price for a hotel I couldn't get to because of an emergency is backwards of customer service. Expedia called the hotel, they asked for proof why I couldn't make the flight. Which indicated they could have actually approved the waived fee. I travel often and my social circle travels often. The fact that they were unwilling to do anything to accommodate these unfortunate circumstances was terrible. Cut to the next day when we actually were able to arrive in New York. ( reminder I talked directly with the hotel a few times explaining my circumstance and that I couldn't make it) I arrive AND THEY CANCELED MY ROOM AS A NO SHOW! STILL NO REFUND. The front desk girl, Christina, then recalled I talked to her yesterday and then I commented on the fact that yes you knew I wasn't arriving because I called several times. She then stomped to the back, apparently got approval from her manager to get the room I already paid for. following that I received nothing but attitude including her slamming her hand down to pick up my card. No apologies, no concern for what we had just dealt with in terms of travel. No thank you, or have a nice stay. Customer service by far makes or breaks a hotel. So save your money and stay elsewhere. These people don't deserve your business. The room is okay, cute even. I most likely would have been back. Instead now, whenever anyone asks about he trip, the place I stayed or recommended places in the future, Even will always be the first place out of my mouth to avoid. You know very well there was an option for them to make this right. But they chose not to. Beware, and don't get burned. read more

From the exercise equipment to comfy bed and adjustable lighting, the room itself was perfect. I happen to stay on the night of a wine tasting. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Noisy rooms... hard to get good rest. When booking, they said they appreciated our gold member status & told me they were going to "give me" an "upgraded" corner room (however, when I checked the price online, that's what I was paying for). And then also confirmed it when I checked in. But... didn't get that. They are careful to "weasel word" when they actually made an error- telling me I got an even "greater upgrade" because of their mistake. However, the room I got is their most basic standard 2 double bed (I'm alone (visiting family) & wanted only 1 bed)... small... behind-the-elevator room. I asked what made this an upgraded room (because it clearly wasn't), and the reply was "It's on the 10th floor instead of the 9th." So it's because I went up one floor, it's an UPgrade? Nice play on words, but very misleading. They would serve their customers better if they would just be honest. As for the room... VERY small, noisy to hall traffic. Not necessarily a dirty room, but the mildew in shower certainly isn't the cleanest. Very basic & no fluff. Pros: Room smells good, coffee maker & fridge in room. read more

We loved the Even Hotel Brooklyn, from the friendly people, clean rooms and great location. If you want to explore Brooklyn, you are literally a block or so away from BAM, DeKalb Market and many excellent bars and restaurants. Also situated within easy walking of many subway lines to get in and out of Manhattan quickly (The Q line took us to Broadway Times Square in 4 stops, 20 minutes!) What a delight! We understand this modern hotel opened just last month, and from the great concept (health & wellness) to truly lovely staff, supreme comfort, and location, the Even is superb. We happened upon it by chance will scouring the web, and it stood out in a crowd of undifferentiated offerings. The bed, pillows and linens were excellent, the air conditioning even and quiet (a too-often overlooked set of considerations). The room came with an excercise ball and TRX-style straps which I confess we did not use, but this is a fantastic idea and other different circumstances I'd have used them (very late night at a wedding). The bathroom is only as big as it needs to be and is very well done; the bath accessories (EO) a cut above. Downsides? Depends on your point of view. The room is also only as big as it needs to be, which I love. More importantly, The Keurig one cup maker is awkwardly placed. Small beans. We will definitely come back. read more

My husband and I booked four rooms at this hotel for our wedding and we thought they had a good operation. It is very unfortunate to say that no one is communicating with each other, and I have been leaving voicemails with Housekeeping since Monday. I tried to connect with concierge, and I received the most rudest response from the employee. I have spoken to the operators numerous times and the lack of customer service is appalling. It wasn't until my 4th or 5th attempt in the last week that other operators have promised to look into my situation and promised to call me back, but they have all been empty promises and never heard from any of the operators. I finally received a call back from housekeeping today, after a week, just to tell me the same empty promise I have already heard. I will never stay at this hotel ever again, and if I could give this a zero stars I would. If you want a hotel with a better operation, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. read more

I was going to do 4 stars because theres no coffee maker in the tiny room. But the bartender/server Gio provided excellent customer service and was super accommodating to my 4 year old. Brought her extra carrots, made sure the pizza was how she wanted it, and nothing is more important than a full belly in a toddler while traveling. We had a great stay. read more

I hate to contradict the other rave reviews, but one of us must have stayed at a different hotel. We had a reservation, which was made on-line, and we called ahead as we were driving over the Brooklyn Bridge to ensure there was valet parking ($50 for valet, and $35 to park three blocks away.) Because it was raining, we opted for valet parking and was assured by the desk clerk they could provide a valet. When we got there, we went inside to check in and let the clerk know the make, model and color of car for the convenience of the valet. It wasn't until 15 minutes later that we were told there was no valet. There were three others checking in, and only one desk worker, so check-in was a long, wait in line process. We asked if they offered a military discount, since my husband is on 100% military disability. The clerk said yes, BUT ... because the reservation was made on-line, we couldn't get the discount. I asked why it couldn't be applied, even though the reservation was made on-line, and she said because the on-line system is a "3rd party" provider, no adjustments could be made. I've never heard of such a thing, so the room rate was $130/night, with no military discount applied. We finally got into the room and were exhausted after our 5 hour drive in the rain, and found the room to be small, with no drawers to put clothing, no shelf area to set anything on, and aside from the small desk area, which was about to be taken up with a lap top computer, there was nowhere to put my purse, camera, or other small incidentals. Two small foot stools held our luggage, but nothing else. The shower has the onset of mold around the tile, same is true for the wall area below the towel bar. One towel bar, for three hand towels and 3 wash cloths, and only one hook for two large bath towels, which when wet, won't stay on the small hanging rod. There was no place to hang all the wet hand towels and/or wash cloths. You couldn't throw them over the sliding shower doors because they went all the way up to the ceiling. They get an "A" for fancy soaps and cleansers, lots of writing on walls, ceiling and elevator doors, but why use the small space that was available in the room for gym equipment when you have a gym in the first floor lobby area? It would be just as easy to have those wanting to exercise in their rooms to just sign out equipment and return it when through. All the money spent on gym equipment could have been better spent on room design and layout. The beds were comfy, but it would have been nice to have a sleep timer on the remote. Not because I'm lazy, but because it would have a provided a much more relaxed sleep environment if I didn't have to search for the remote to turn it off once I fell asleep. I was even more disappointed, maybe even angry at having to pay $8.95 for three cups of coffee, since insufficient sugar and creamer were available in the room. If Holiday Inn can provide a free coffee bar, why can't the Evan? Overall, I can't see why The Evan Hotel has such high ratings, unless the guests didn't have high expectations. Because my husband and I were both 20+ years in the military and stayed in hotels worldwide, this wasn't the what we had expected, and needless to say, were very disappointed. read more

I had a very nice stay at the Even in downtown Brooklyn. The infused ginger lime water in the lobby was so refreshing upon arriving after a 3-hour plane ride and then a traffic jam in a taxi. Very friendly staff and a nice room. An extra bonus is all the yoga equipment in the room, even though I didn't use it. My daughter who lives in Brooklyn was very impressed! read more

Never again! Worst customer service on the planet! My daughters first solo trip to NY. I prepaid her hotel and had confirmation, my card was charged. She called me in a panic because Even Hotel refused to allow her to check in to the prepaid room. She had a photo ID, cash and a Visa card. But they would not allow her to use cash or the visa for the $100 deposit. The manager refused to speak with me on the phone. I had to make reservations at another hotel that was more than happy to help us. Now through travelocity I am trying to get my refund and Even Hotel is trying to refuse the refund. Never Again! Great experience and would absolutely return! The staff was the BEST! Everyone was so genuinely friendly. Very easy to find and there's a public parking garage directly across the street. I pulled up for valet and waited for a few minutes, but no one came (the only downfall) so I just pulled into the garage - easy enough. The hotel itself and the room was impeccable and had really unique details - workout accessories in the room! I chose EVEN for the close proximity to Barclays, but now it will be my go-to for overnights in Brooklyn. read more

Before booking our trip I made sure to call the hotel and ask if we could check our bags because we were arriving at 8am. We arrived from the airport and Juan at the front desk was very welcoming. I explained that I knew we were early and we just wanted to leave our bags. He insisted on looking for an available room for us. We got settled in our room and loved it. The room was great and the hotel was too. I hope that more of these hotels open up other places. My teens loved the ping pong tables and enjoyed the giant Jenga outside. It was also only a few minutes to walk to the metro and 2 stops to the financial district. Out of all my visits to NYC I always stay at different hotels and now I've finally found one that I will return to. I came to Brooklyn on a business trip. There was a problem with the reservation that was arranged for by my company. Nicay was at the front desk. She was patient with me for over 2 hours as I had to call our corporate reservations and work out details. She sent multiple emails on my behalf to help resolve the issue. In the mean while she checked me into my room and helped get a room for a colleague that was sent away by the Holiday Inn next door that was having the same issue. Nicay was always smiling and reassuring during the whole process. She is definitely an asset to the hotel. Also the general manager works out in the hotel gym which is beautiful and has equipment to suit everyones exercise needs. The hotel is clean and offers a complimentary military style laundry service for work out cloths which is really convenient. There is also a great healthy restaurant/bar in the lobby with really nice and attentive wait staff. read more

It's quite a nice hotel. Good bed and the wellness theme is fun. Staff is friendly. However, our stay, a weekend getaway, was disturbed by a lot of late-night noise. The first night was other guests coming in late making an incredible racket in the hallway. That was just unfortunate and wasn't the hotel's fault. The second night's mess, though, was from construction going well past midnight across the street -- jackhammers, shouting, dumping debris into metal containers below. It was pretty dreadful, and has, I now know, gone on since the hotel opened a couple of months ago and will continue for another eight months. Despite this, the hotel claimed to be surprised to hear about the noise and that they'd "had just one other complaint." This was pretty surprising, if not plainly implausible. It was also surprising to hear there's an ordinance against construction after 7 p.m., and yet the front desk person, who had to be able to hear it, didn't know to call police. And it was surprising that the manager who called thought that fair compensation for a sleepless weekend was to offer to sign me up for their guest loyalty program and give me some extra points. Gee, thanks! I mean, you just got abused and some dolt thinks it's his chance to score you again. Maybe I'm too demanding, but to me you pay $800 for two nights and it's reasonable to assume you'll have a decent night's rest. read more

After leaving a horrendous Airbnb in New York City I was charted towards this hotel by several other hotels that were booked. I was at the lovely new and sparkling clean accommodations. I was given an amazing room with a view of the Statue of Liberty. The food choices aligned with my taste. The staff has been amazing every single one. And of course the choice of waters by the door the ginger lime was my favorite. They even give you a bottle in the room to refill if you choose. With a coffee maker in the room and a refrigerator Stretching equipment a beautiful comfortable sitting chair Wi-Fi place to hang your clothes great bathroom with everything you need quiet room I think it's near perfect for my needs. I will be sourcing this hotel chain out whenever I can. Now when I have to go to a regular middle America hotel i will be missing what this progressively thinking hotel offered I mean where can I go to get an almond butter raisin bread toast in the morning with organic coffee and organic half-and-half? read more

I liked this hotel! I think the whole concept of fitness and relaxation is a great theme. I have no complaints about the room, and the view was as good as you can get in Brooklyn. The only thing I dislike about my stay was the breakfast! When the front desk rep saw us leaving after viewing the menu, she said "Is food too healthy?", which I sort of took offense to even though she was joking. I'd actually prefer a healthier breakfast, lunch or dinner, but there was a lack of choice - and the one time we did have breakfast, it wasn't good. I had a half of bagle, two small overcooked, rubbery pieces of turkey bacon, and a cold slimy hard boiled egg. All and all, I'd stay again but wouldn't pay extra for the breakfast. read more
