I am a college student a Umaine, my parents came up for the weekend. I am also French and have traveled around the world and eaten at some of the greatest restaurants in the world. So I know what I am talking about, and so do my parents. They both worked at great restaurants in Paris. I had the French onion soup. It was a real one, and it was amazing. Then I had a Ribeye steak medium rare(the only way steak should be eaten). One of the best steaks I have ever had. The sauce that came with it was unbelievable and the steak was served on some of the best mashed potatoes. I fully recommend this place! read more

The staff completely ignored us. After being seated, my mother and I waited probably 15 without any of the staff even stopping to give us water. We saw one of the wait staff walk by with a pitcher full of water and she didn't even look at us! We saw plenty of staff walk by but none of them even glanced at our table. We kept looking around and trying to make eye contact, but couldn't catch anyone's attention. We waited 15 minutes with our menus down and ready to order food before we finally walked out. The food at Evenrood's, which is considered a fine dining restaurant, is (usually) good but the service by management is with what I have had multiple issues. My husband and I have had issues with one particular woman manager, who is the only manager we've ever seen there. She has given us rude and poor service when "helping" her employees. She has also given us poor service when we ordered food "to go" (which cost us more than $60) by throwing our bag of food in front of us, with our bill to sign...no "thank you" or "I hope you enjoy your food." After receiving this rude and poor service, we brought our food home to find it was tasteless and we had to add our extra seasoning, which isn't usually the case. Pretty delicious bites in a very charming environment is how I would quickly summarize Evenrood's. My first and currently only visit there had a bowl of the seafood chowder. This was really the first time I had had a more broth-ey style chowder, and it was very well made and delicious! read more

So we keep walking and I spotted Evenrood's, I am so glad we went there it was so good, everything have a unique delicious flavor and the decor is very modern looking, the place is very clean and bright. We had a lovely time here this evening. I ordered the seafood chowder for appetiser and braised short rib special for main, he had soup of the day (roast poblano chilli and potato) and the lemon crusted halibut fish special for main. Bread was fresh and plentiful. Both soups were lovely, a perfect size, and the mains enormous (neither of us could finish them, and we were starving) and delicious. Wine was well priced with an extensive list. Atmosphere was a little lacking due to music being down til we were almost out the door, but the space is lovely and well decorated. Service was warm and enthusiastic if a little unpracticed - empty dishes sat on the table for 20 mins and the waitress needed prompting to take our orders for main courses. But she also gave us lovely recommendations for places to go in New Hampshire! That's why this is four rather than five stars. This is a really nice place and clearly a great addition to the Bangor dining scene, especially for $120 for two with wine for a two course meal including tip - good value. read more

I met my friend in town. We both had appointments. We were sat quickly, and staff was attentive. The menu was pleasing, and it was hard to pick. We got the buffalo chicken dip (Tasty) I had a burger and my friend prime rib sandwich. Very nice. I had a cocktail and it was nice. Atmosphere is delightful ... Came here recently with family while I was in town visiting. We opted for outdoor seating, so I cannot speak for the inside of the restaurant. I did take a peak inside, however, and I was pleasantly surprised by how upscale it looked. Our waiter was very friendly and just the right level of attentive. I had a burger which was cooked to the temperature I requested and tasted quite good. I would definitely recommend Evenrood and would return again if I was in the area. read more

Although I don't dine in Bangor often, I think I found a gem to remember for my next visit up here. What a fantastic find! I happened upon this given the reviews that they provide local and everything else after that was an added benefit. The atmosphere is an old bank reconfigured into a cool, elegant and airy space. I ordered the green salad with goat cheese and basil vinaigrette and the sesame tuna. And that tuna was fantastic! I was also pleased with the wine list - I find that craft beer seems to be everyone's focus (in Maine) so it's nice to that they paid attention to the wine fans as well. There is private dining room in the old vault that looks really nice if you ever need a small party function space. Overall was extremely pleased with my dinner in Bangor! read more

Normally when we have eaten here the food and the service is excellent. However, that all changed last night. My wife and I took our friends visiting from Texas here for dinner on their last night in town. Everything started off fine until my dinner arrived at the table. I had ordered the prime rib dinner medium rare. One look at it and I could tell it was anything but medium rare. It was dark brown and hard to cut even with a serrated knife. I mentioned it to the waiter and asked if he could get another one for me. After a debate as to what medium rare is and isn't with him he agreed to get me another one. After 10 minuets he came back with another plate that had a smaller, I ordered the 12 oz, cut of meat that was slightly more rare than the first. I decided to just eat it as my wife and guests were almost finished with their food. After 15 minuets he finally came back to see how everything was. I wasn't going to say anything else about it but our guests brought it to his attention that it still wasn't right. After another lengthy debate as to what prime rib is and isn't he said that" We sold out of prime rib tonight and nobody else had a complaint ". At that point I knew the problem. I was stuck with the last cut of meat they had and there was no chance that it was going to be medium rare. What the waiter should have said from the beginning of the order was, let me check if we can do medium rare and ask the kitchen if they can accommodate that or not. Then gotten back to me to say we can only do medium well. That didn't happen. The other thing he should have done is ask me to cut into the meat and wait to see if things were better or not and handle it then. Not wait 15-20 minuets to see if things were better. We did see the waiter talking to what we can only assume was the manager about the problem as they were making gestures towards our table but they never came to inquire about anything. I used to work in the food industry and have worked at some of the areas best restaurants from Bud Grants restaurant and steakhouse in Brewer to the Penobscot Valley Country Club. And not once would the Chef / Management allow someone to leave unsatisfied. So I have to say I am very disappointed in the food and service i received yesterday evening. I will never order prime rib from here again when or if we go back. read more

Made a reservation two months in advance knowing it was going to be a busy night. We stopped by a little early to see if our table might be ready, and were told it wouldn't be ready even at our reserved time. The hostess (owner?) acted like we were crazy to expect our reservation to be honored on such a busy night. She was extremely rude right from the start. We were seated about 30 minutes late, and sat there at our table for another 15 minutes before a server even came by. We were then ignored in the corner for another 1/2 hour- with empty glasses and empty bread basket. We asked for the check to just pay for the drinks we'd had, and again, the owner? dug into us for expecting service on such a busy night and told us our order would be right out and that we should just sit there and enjoy ourselves. The server was apologetic and seemed embarrassed by the other woman's behavior toward us. They did bring it out but by that time we were so hungry we ate the cold mashed potatoes they served us . EvenRUDE's is a good name for the place. I do feel sorry for the employees. read more

While the doors have only been open for a short while, I wasn't overly impressed with the food or menu. First, the atmosphere is fantastic. It has a fun, comfortable, trendy vibe and is very inviting. I ordered a glass of wine, which tasted very good but it was a VERY small pour. My girlfriend and I were very disappointed in that. We started with the mussels, which are quite large, and not the small delicate ones. Even my husband, who isn't picky, thought they were really big. We had heard that the salads were quite large, so we opted to share one- the arugula salad. It was good, and not over-dressed, which we liked. I ordered the fish special (it was a tuna steak) medium rare. It came out well-done and very dry. The dish itself was fairly non-creative and dry (served over rice and had a few olives on top). The guys got the blackened salmon, which again, was just ok, nothing creative or memorable. Our salads, which we ordered as an appetizer, came out only seconds before our entree, which isn't ideal. We had a ton of food on the table all at once, and it felt rushed. The menu itself is smallish and very simple. Nothing creative at all. We will go back to Evenroods, with the hopes that they start pouring good drinks and will liven up the menu a bit... read more

Great location downtown Bangor. It used to be an old Bank. Still has the vault which seats about 6 people. Very nice decor and great atmosphere. You can also sit outside. Great menu. We ordered steaks which came with asparagus and a starch. They also had Geaghan brothers beer on the menu which was excellent. Our waiter provided outstanding service. I asked if they had onions and mushrooms for the steak I ordered. He told me the restaurant did not have my request as a side. But he surprised me by going the extra mile. I had my awesome steak with mushrooms and onions. Very nice relaxing evening with friends. Would highly recommend. read more

ARE YOU KIDDING ME. !!!. Called for reservations confirming MOTHER'S DAY special menu offerings. Two days later called again to add to reservations and again confirmed a "BRUNCH menu". Oh yes was the reply. 11:30 was our reservation. We arrived on time and was greeted by a women who I assume was the owner. She quickly escorted us to our window table. Not the Vault area we requested and were assured. No big deal but it was a cold and rainy day. A little chilly for my elderly mother and father. We were all a little disappointed but no big deal. This is were the big deal STARTS. THERE WAS NO MOTHER'S DAY SPECIAL. Only the usual dinner menu. NO BRUNCH, NO LUNCH. !!!!! STEAKS at 11:30am. ? Are you kidding me ? What were the owners thinking. Our waitresses was very sweet and apologetic. Was told there was a staffing issue. Felt bad for her. In the business this is called being set up for FAILURE. Most of us ordered the fish, and it was ok/good. But the chicken plate came out after we got our bill. The chicken was ON the bill. They did comp A dessert . To little, way to late. Upon leaving the owner was still sitting at the greeters desk PLAYING with her phone. She thanked us, but didn't inquire about our meal. Not a good practice. Left feeling sad for the staff. this will be short. I was in on Thursday 8/27/16, I ordered the prime rib. It had no flavor and was completely grey. The edge had been cut off per the owners request( she thinks it looks better). I sent it back, it was taken off the bill. I did have the pleasure of the owner(Lisa) come over to the table to tell me why it was served in this manor. She doesn't like the fat on the outside of the slice of prime rib. II wanted to say more than I did to her but held back. I senced she was being very aggressive and almost looking for a fight. My suggestion to Lisa is to not try to re invent the wheel, either buy a better cut of meat that has less fat on the rib, or trim some off before cooking it(not all, it provides flavor). anyway we ate there because there was no wait. the inside had only two tables filled and about seven outside at seven pm, 11 central had a 45 minute wait. your place would look better with some customers in it. loose the ego and keep your place open. read more

Was at Evenroods recently with family and had a great evening. No reservations. We had a beer at the bar and we're seated in about 15 mins. The place has a good upbeat vibe and a very friendly staff. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the beer on tap selection was excellent. The Buff Chick Dip was awesome! I had the blackened salmon and it was very good. Thanks for an enjoyable night. We had a GREAT Valentine's Day dinner. Menu accommodated a wide range of diets (vegetarian, gf, fish). The service was attentive, friendly, but unobtrusive. The food was perfectly cooked - the most tender calamari in the seafood risotto! Perfectly grilled asparagus. The food was seasoned perfectly and served at exactly the right temperature. We ordered salmon and mussels. All of the seafood was extremely fresh. We got our cocktails and appetizers quickly. I was so pleased that they asked if we wanted bread before just bringing it to the table. The menu is fine dining, but with a casual and simple feel - not overdone with gimmicky sauces or too much pretension. The atmosphere was cozy, warm, lit well (not too bright or too dark), and despite being very crowded it was easy to have an intimate conversion (it was not too noisy). I can't wait to go back and to bring my out-of-town guests. Also looking forward to trying lunch! read more

The whole time the manager Sat at the bar chatting up a pair of old men while we sat twiddling our thumbs. Had the special ( roast pork tenderloin). My husband and I met friends for dinner last night - thought we made a good choice ... we did not. Our dinners were a "C" at best, we all ordered seafood - Shrimp Scampi, Grilled Atlantic Salmon, Pan-Seared Scallops and Ahi Tuna with Thai Peanut Noodles ... my choice :-( ... and even though I did ask everyone what they thought of their meal and did not get a resounding thumb's up, I'll only speak for myself. Mine was awful -- the tuna was overcooked to the point of flavorless and dry and the "Thai Peanut Noodles" -- first bite -- were like a spoonful of Jiffy peanut butter ... nothing subtle, enticing or remotely "Thai" -- I was so bummed. I expressed my disappointment to our server; she was apologetic, said I should have spoken up earlier (why? would the kitchen crew be happy with that? then what?) She offered a free dessert, but we declined, paid our bill, left her a tip and chalked up our experience as scratching this eating establishment off our list. read more

Made Valentine's Day reservations after dining in last month. We showed up 5-10 minutes early. Proceeded to sit and wait for over 20 minutes while they sat FOUR SEPARATE COUPLES who got there after us, with the same reservation time as us. I mean 15+ minutes after us. Most were late for the reservation time (not us). She told us "reservations are set per table and your table is eating dessert" Are you kidding me? Seems the older lady hosting wanted to ensure a TOP experience for those older couples and could give a rats ass about us. Yes we are 25, and 26. We also make 6 figures. We enjoy fine dining in the Bangor area, glad I will NEVER have to choose from this place again. Absolutely ridiculous to treat us like that on Valentine's Day. We were incredible patient and allowed you guys so much time to fix the issue and you did nothing. I've lived in the area my entire life, know half your staff and owners. I'm glad you treat people like shit, makes my future choices a lot easier. Timber, The Tarrantine and 11 Central are better anyways. ‍ read more

No reason to really give this less than 5 stars but that is reserved for pure, perpetual perfection and I've only been here one time. Great food, good selection of beers and alcohol behind the bar with a friendly owner who was gracious enough to explain the interesting history of the place. It used to be a bank. The vault is still there, leading you into a room reserved for parties. Great concept and design! I will definitely return when I'm back in town. Pretty disappointed in my first visit to Evanrood's. Yes, the space is beautiful, but is it a requirement that the waitstaff point out the bank vault from across the room? The waitress was awkward and less than friendly. My $12 cocktail didn't arrive until five minutes before my meal, at which point the actually very good taste was ruined by the salad that tasted like little more than arugula in a vinaigrette; and to charge me $5 more for three ounces of gristly chicken? No. Had the waitress waited for me to respond to her "How's everything tasting?" I would have explained all of this. Before leaving with a literal bad taste in my mouth, I thought, oh look at least there are chocolates by the door! Alas, they were melty and gross. Le sigh. read more
