Company claims "We like to maintain an open relationship with our customers and will answer any and all of your questions about equipment, policies and procedsures so you can be confident that you are receiving the highest quality service." Not true, at all, as presented on my recent phone conversation with details stated below. As a first-time customer, I called to setup an appointment for air duct cleaning for my home residence. A gruff man answered the phone in a very unfriendly manner with just the word "Midwest". (No "Hello", no "How can I help you?"). I asked for his name and he coldly replied, "Midwest". I asked him again, "Do you have a name?" and his cold and unfriendly reply was, "Yeah, who's this?". Wow... Part of running a business is to greet customers/callers with friendly, cordial and courteous manners, especially with first-time customers. Because my home residence is located in Hammond, we wanted to help support a Hammond business, which is one of the reasons why I called this business. What adds to the complete distrust, unreliablity and discreditability are the following: *Company also has 2 different addresses listed [174th Street in Hammond, IN (no number address) and principal address has 7143 Tapper Avenue in Hammond, IN 46324]. *Two different phone numbers listed, ["219-671-8868" is the current number I was able to use, (per the Google lookup), and "219-627-2885"]. *Their listed website shown on their Facebook accunt shows as "www.midwestairductcleaning.com", yet, in fact, it is not a registered website, as that domain is available to purchase. Unfortunately, because of this man's lack of cordialness and proper phone etiquettes towards me on the phone, the man presented himself in showing no interest in treating a customer with respect, which in turns, tells me his company he represents does not care about the customer. With that being said, it conveys the message that this company will not accomplish the cleaning for my residence with care, as well. I cannot trust this company to treat me and my home with care, once they have entered my home. That ruined the trust I needed to have upfront. First impressions is everything. I suggest this company to work on much better customer service and phone etiquettes than what I received today. Very sad state.

NIPSCO said that I needed an electrician to reattach the wire as it was not their responsibility to do such work. Enter Chris and Kurt - what a team! They work very well together and assessed my problem and gave me two estimates. They suggested to me that I go with option one and gave me a 1 year guarantee that if that didn't hold, they'd come back and provide option 2 and give me credit for what I already paid. They were very knowledgeable and friendly and answered all my questions. I'm very satisfied with the work they did and think their pricing was quite reasonable. Based on the professionalism of your technician and the fact that I felt your quote was reasonable, I would have given your company a much higher rating. That is why I find the decision to simply decline the work somewhat surprising. Rather than discussing my concern and allowing the overall experience to play out, you have chosen not to even consider moving forward with the project. From a customer's perspective, declining work because someone questioned a fee and expressed an opinion about it does not come across as particularly professional. I appreciate the refund, but I wanted to make sure my position was clear. My concern was never with your technician or the quality of his interaction with me. On the morning of the estimate I get a text approximately 40 mins before the estimate saying the appointment needed to be cancelled and they would call the following week to reschedule.....and they never did. Another local company got the business. If they can't complete something as simple as an estimate, I wouldn't trust to do the work.

What is painfully apparent is the gross negligence in the decision to utilize a disconnected employee to conduct a vital inspection. Had proper discernment been applied, it would have mitigated the associated failures. This inspection should have been completed following the Veterans Administration Minimum Property Requirements, not the pencil-whipped document submitted for closing. The representative of your company assigned to conduct the VA-required inspection submitted a notice of resignation from your company before executing the contracted inspection. The associate disturbed a few inches of the topsoil to give the appearance that the inspection was completed, violating the minimum property requirements. This further demonstrated that there was zero motivation to exercise proper discernment to do the job correctly because the associate's mind was already moving onward with their new career path.   If done correctly by a qualified and dedicated professional, the inspection would have identified the crushed pipe under the sidewalk and never passed the rigid requirements of the Veterans Administration's inspection outline.   Therefore, the VA inspection would have failed, shifting the required repair to the property seller before closing on the property.  You and your co-workers unearthed the 8-foot concrete lid of the septic tank that day to gain access, graphing in an access portal afterward to conduct the inspection properly. Your co-workers identified additional failures in how that inspection was not performed correctly and shared those findings candidly with my wife. It all functions automatically - for extra peace of mind. The pre-sales/estimate process was quick and efficient, and the front office staff were very friendly over the phone. After we scheduled the installation, they provided everything that our town needed to issue a building permit. On our installation date the crew went above and beyond the call of duty, accommodating our request for a slight change in location that required some creativity and skill in routing gas line and electrical conduit. The end result was great, and our house was none the worse for wear. The team also provided a good overview of care and maintenance of the system -- though for the most part it is truly automatic and requires only minor annual service. I understand you may not care about one loss of a potential customer but it's unfortunate Costco uses you as a representative for this south suburbs area. You've been reported to Costco. Maybe you don't get paid as much when referred through Costco membership. If that's the case, take this company off their list.
