I recently stopped into Ever So Humble Pie Company with Easter in mind, and it quickly turned into one of those visits where you leave with far more than you planned--in the best way. The shop is set in a funky old New England mill space that perfectly matches what they do: warm, a little rustic, and full of charm. It feels authentic right away, like everything coming out of the kitchen is made with care and intention. The pies are the main event, and they absolutely deliver. I went in specifically for a large blueberry pie to serve at our Easter brunch, and I'm absolutely confident it won't disappoint. Of course, I couldn't stop there--I also picked up a few of the personal 5" pies to stash in the freezer, which feels like a very smart decision for future dessert emergencies The ready-to-eat baked goods are just as worth your attention, but you have to time it right--they sell out fast. I managed to grab a lemon raspberry scone for the drive home, and I think it's my favorite scone now. Perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and exactly what you want from a great scone. Between the quality, the setting, and the variety, this is the kind of place that works just as well for a holiday centerpiece as it does for a spontaneous stop. I'm glad it's not closer to home though--it would be very hard to achieve my desired weight goals it if were. Just be sure to go early if you want the best selection of ready to eat goods. read more

We moved to Walpole back in 2006, and our great find was Ever So Humble Pie, and I cannot believe that we have been here seventeen years without posting a positive review of this business. The owner is a great business person, having started making the pies first, fully made, and then realizing, that they may not all get sold, and moved to freezing the pie where you can choose pies that you bake for 75-90 minutes, or you defrost and the pie is ready to serve. We first tried these pies when we lived in Chestnut Hill, and bought the pies at Allandale Farm. The crust in all the pies is always flaky and tender. Filling is made from fresh ingredients such as Maine blueberries, firm, smooth, and well-blended, with the filling characteristic for that kind of pie. We have served the following pies on Thanksgiving or other get togethers: - New England Apple - Freshly peeled apples tossed with brown sugar and spices, heaped high beneath a delicate, flaky crust. - Wild Blueberry - Flavorful and juicy wild blueberries, kissed with lemon, nestled inside a tender, flaky crust. - Cherry - Tart, Michigan grown cherries enhanced with a dash of pure almond oil. - Butter Pecan - Loads of roasted pecans crown a buttery soft vanilla filling. - Squmpkin - Field harvested sugar pumpkins and winter squash cooked with low-fat milk and spices into a creamy custard. The best pie crust is a perfect balance between fat, flour, and liquid. Too much fat and the crust may taste greasy and crumble as it bakes. Too much liquid can create extra gluten, leading to tough, chewy crust, and the Ever So Humble pies deliver every time that we have made them. If you have not tried the pies here, please do because you will not be disappointed! We have also bought the breads such as Apple, Blueberry, Cranberry, Pumpkin, Lemon Poppy Seed, and Zucchini, that are also terrific! I almost don't want to write this rave review for fear that this place will get crowded? But WOW. Maybe TOO humble of a place, since it exceeded my expectations. Great parking lot, the place is tucked away in a bigger building. I almost thought it was closed as I pulled up but thankfully I read the signs on the door. As soon as I went in I was hit with the best smell. It's a huge place, you can tell everything is made on site based on the equipment and smell. Huge variety of pies, sizes, whoopie pies, scones!, cookies... The lemon poppyseed scone I got was delicious and I also picked up a whoopie pie for my husband. I stop by here today because my other half in my friends truck broke down while they were out getting Covid vaccines stop to get to get a pie and the truck broke down so I'm here to pick them up and it's amazing they have moved to the first floor is a huge investment a huge space they have eight different freezers full of different kinds of cakes pies crisp breads cookies scones etc. They also have fresh cookies pies hermits scones and homemade donuts you can see everything is going on behind cause it's an open space and you can see the girls walking back-and-forth making gram cracker piecrust and making filling etc. very friendly very open nice people. What an amazing pie. I went to Ever So Humble because I was looking for a vegan dessert for my vegan son, and I've learned to lower my expectations for vegan desserts. But this was the best pie - vegan or not - that I can remember having. My son picked blueberry, and I don't even like blueberry pie - even so, it was amazing. The crust was the highlight. I don't know how they do it without butter, but they really know what they are doing. The pies are frozen, so you can buy them even if you are not ready to eat them that day. One hour in the oven and they are perfect. As if that were not enough, the place itself is awesome. Gigantic high ceilings in an old industrial building with antique stuff here and there. They have no idea how to run a business..I live in Natick and after seeing their store on Chronicle I decided to drive down on Monday and get a Pumpkin Pie .. The cashier said they ran out over the weekend and will have some by the end of the week and to call. So on Friday I called but the phone was perpetually busy so I decided to drive down and guess what ...they didn't have any pies, which probably would've been OK, but they wouldn't let me pay for one in advance... How stupid is that?..It seems they don't take orders which makes no sense .. they tell me to come down the end of the week and they will have some. So I complained to the cashier and left a very unhappy customer and on the way out I had to listen to the cashier say thank you sir,in such a patronizing tone of voice!!..... very bad !!!....passive aggressive.,,you need to remember something and that is business will not always be this good and when someone offers you money... You take it... I went over there today and it was the cutest place. Giant factory setting. It brings you back to when hard work and effort meant something big. Like big dreams. The giant freezer chest were almost empty because they sold a ton the previous day. My daughter and I got some pies and scones. Our favorite store for holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. The pies, well the selection is tops. I love blueberries while my wife loves rhubarb. The frozen desserts leave us with too many to buy. We'll often go for the smaller 5" and buy 3 to 5. Since their frozen, it is no problem to save one (two if we're lucky) for another day. This place has amazing ready-to-bake pies. The moment I walked in.. I noticed there were a few freezers each loaded with different type of dessert pies. The pie prices range from $5.95 for a 5 inch pie to $27.95 for a 10 inch pie. I ended up getting the pumpkin pie, blueberry pie, apple crisp pie, and the summer medly pie. Everything was delicious! The workers were super friendly and recommended eating the apple crisp pie with ice cream. I followed her advice and it was a very life changing experience . Pies with vanilla ice-cream is like pairing chocolate chip cookies with milk . BEST combination ever! In addition to the dessert pies, the store also sells savory pies such as the chicken pot pie and Shepard's pie. Did I mention FRESH scones as well?In other words, this place has something tasty for everybody. I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back to try the carrot cake!! Thankfully I saw the review pointing out that this place is set back in the factory bldgs. I was hoping they'd have pieces of pie but rather than buy a while or mini pie, i ended up getting three scones: lemon raspberry, maple walnut and cheddar sausage. The scones are amazing and a good price at $2.50 ea. while there is some seating it wasn't overly an inviting place to hang out. Fantastic! I drive 45 minutes every November to get their fabulous pies. Call ahead if you want a particular type of pie because they don't always have all the types in the freezers. We love the cherry, blueberry and pecan. In February, they have raspberry filled hearts with are delicious. If you don't see what you want, ask the people at the register. These used to be my favorite pies. Now they have a sour taste. I've had an Ever So Humble Cherry Pie on my birthday instead of cake for years. We would bring them to events and friends houses for special occasions. That's what brought me in today. We were the only people in the store and we were suspiciously watched throughout our visit. I always like to look around the store to see what new stuff they have, but there wasn't a lot this time. But what really caught my eye were the stars and bars displayed prominently in the front and center of the store. There are a lot of military flags on display, so I assume the owner has some military background, and that's commendable. But there are a lot of ways to display southern pride other than the Confederate flag which has an obvious racist connotation. It has no place in modern society, and I have no place in a business that displays it. :-( read more

PIE IN THE SKY!! This place is heaven for pie lovers, cookie lovers, bakery lovers oh my! The pies come frozen and you either bake them when you are ready to serve or let them thaw out. Believe me, this isn't your standard frozen section grocer dessert. The ingredients are top shelf and the pie crust? I don't think I have ever eaten another pie that had a flakier crust. Some of my favorites are the Butter Pecan, Cherry, Jumble Berry and recently I finally had the Chocolate Cream and Connoli. I am day dreaming about the Connoli now. I want to try the chicken pot pie and the new breakfast pies. The hermits are delicious! Look...these pies were so good that I had them at my wedding reception. I don't know about others here but I think the owner is definitely a sweetie pie herself! No one has ever been anything but helpful and kind when I have perused the shop. The owner even baked my pies for me the day of my wedding so that we could pick them up ready to serve. How is that not great service?! For something delicious to have on hand for company, or for a BBQ or a holiday and have something this easy and delicious with only the best ingredients? For me it is definitely worth the price.
