I've been going to Bubbling Brook for nearly 4-decades. My first ice cream there is a treasured memory from the 1980s. The anticipation waiting in line coupled with the overwhelming anxiety of needing to pick your flavor before holding up other excited patrons and then being whisked away into the sugar-fueled bliss that is a child attempting to quickly consume and not spill a multi-faceted treat of equal parts chocolate, caramel, cookie, and happiness. So many things have changed but the Bubbling Brook remains. A hallmark of only the summer months. Its opening is the starter-pistol for hot days that push the winter New England months so far into your rear-view mirror, they are indistinguishable, small as sprinkles, from the vantage of sitting on the tailgate of a 1980 Chevy Impala, making a mess and not caring a bit. The encapsulation of my youth is now an expensive five minutes, as the prices seem to have climbed to where the bill you are handing the college kid, scooping their thousandth dollop of the day, better have Andrew Jackson on it, and he had better have a friend or two nearby, depending on the size of your party and whether sprinkles are the critical component to recapture 1987. read more

We have been going here for quite a few years, but I had just found out the other night as I was gonna go with my bike group for dinner that they no longer serve food. They've closed their dining room and they only serve ice cream. We typically go when we go out with a bike we go to dinner. Then we always have dessert or ice cream they have now however, only have a food truck in the driveway which I laid around that was only this till 7 o'clock. We don't typically get the place till seven so we ended up changing our location so we went to another going to another restaurant and a totally different town. I just feel bad cause bubbling Brook you know I'm sure they're busy anyways but we usually carry while we ride was between 18 and 25 people. The three stars are for the service & outdoor seating. I just had a small pineapple dole whip vegan ice cream. It has a slight funny taste. The ingredient list is 99% chemicals. Buyer beware. Well this was pretty awesome. Cute ice cream spot in the middle of a residential/farming area - though not connected to the farm. There was a fair sized parking lot, which was FULL so we parked by a nearby field and it was just a short walk. It was really busy, but the ice cream lines were moving pretty quickly. They had sugar free, which was good for my husband. I got a classic soft serve twist. We went to go sit on their lawn where the picnic tables were. It was grassy and pleasant and, of course, there was a bubbling brook. And there were lots of muddy children running around enjoying it. If I had kids I'd bring them here, I'd have loved that brook area when I was a kid. There were also lots of dogs and families, and happiness. Loved it. A great way to kick off my summer. read more

This corner spot can be easily spotted with the line out the door with happy go lucky Norwood, Walpole and/or Westwoodians populate. Ordered the chocolate frap with a decent blend and consistency of sweetness that was filling. Maybe it's the pallet or the higher standard to which I hold, but I can't find the justification to pay $6.00 a scoop for Richardson's Ice Cream (not home-made) and up charged for sprinkles. I get it though. It's a location that is meant for a night out with friends and fam that resembles a throwback era of reminiscing "The Spot" however, whether it be hard served or soft served, or even a quick frap, the price to taste can't be justified. read more

I love these types of restaurants. Everything is take out and they have a lot picnic tables in the back. They have a lot of food options and many flavors of soft and hard serve ice cream. I had a hot dog with fries and the bun was toasted to perfection. I also had a cup of the clam chowder. The food was great and comes out quick. For ice cream I had the raspberry swirl with sprinkles. This place was a real sh_ t show. They have about a dozen ordering windows. Only 1 is dedicated to ordering food. The rest are for ordering ice cream. When I arrived, there were easily a dozen people in the food line. But all the ice cream lines were empty. I finally got to the front to order. Order my cheeseburger and tried to order a mocha cappuccino soft serve flavor burst cone. I was told that I couldn't order soft serve at a food window. I could order hard serve ice cream with my food. But not soft serve. WTF??? Seriously- who makes these stupid rules? They finally call my name since my cheeseburger is ready. I go pick it up. I ask where I can get ketchup. They tell me that ketchup is in the bag. I finally go sit down at the picnic table with my friends. Open my bag. No ketchup. Really. Why did you have to lie to me? Best sundae I've ever had. The hot fudge reminded me of 'Bailey's' back in the day. Delicious whipped cream, tasted freshly made. Very friendly young staff. The dining room is still closed due to COVID 19. They now accept credit cards. Wish they would allow you to add tip to card though. Still don't understand the two separate lines to buy soft serve or hard ice cream, but I guess it works because the place has been here for ever. Seafood is so fresh, especially the haddock/cod. While visiting relatives in the area we decided to stop here. It's a very cute local ice cream spot. There were nice aspects of the experience. The employee helping us was super friendly, and the ice cream was tasty. However, the nice experience was ruined by the manager (possibly owner?), who scolded me for taking a (wanna be artsy) picture of the sprinkle bin. Here is the exchange: Me: attempts to take artsy picture of sprinkles Her: "Excuse me, can I help you?" Me: (not realizing what she was referring to) "we're already being helped, but thanks for asking" Her: "I don't appreciate you taking pictures of my employees without them knowing" Me: "Oh I was actually just taking a picture of your sprinkles" Her: Stares at me in disbelief with a look of disgust Me: opens up the photo viewer to show her the actual picture Her: walks away without saying anything else or apologizing Not that big of a deal, but it certainly soured the experience. A famous spot on the border of Westwood and Walpole, it's a pretty standard old style ice cream and American food shack. Very popular during the spring and summer (it's closed in the fall/winter). It's not really my cup of tea, everything is a bit too sugary, the bases aren't strong creative flavors so much as a standard sweet cream with mix-ins. But they have some good options. The clear winner for our family was Salted Caramel Truffle that had a nice caramel swirl through it along with chocolate chunks and little caramel truffles in it. Pretty tasty! The Coffee Oreo I got was ok, but not a strong enough coffee flavor, it mainly tasted of Oreos, not the worst thing, but not what I was looking for. Their peanut butter flavors were off, the peanut butter wasn't very good so that's disappointing. Overall, I'd give it and a half cones out of five, it's worth a stop on a hot day, but not worth going out of your way for. Best paired with a shady picnic table spot in their backyard and Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion. read more

They had good safety measures set up for social distancing. I had the fried clams and fries. The clams were ok , not the best not the worst I've had. Not too greasy but didn't have a ton of flavor. Fries were good, crispy. Soft serve was on point! I had a medium vanilla with chocolate sprinkles. It was so hot outside , it kept melting but was so good! There's now a sign at the front door that lists a myriad of rules & regulations that says "ice Cream/Desserts served in dining room only after serving food". So on a chilly night, 38 degrees, and finishing dinner, we asked for a strawberry ice cream cone. Server said no cones in dining room. OK, then, can we get a dish with a cone on top?
