On a Friday evening, Ordered food: at 5:30 and was supposed to be a 30 minute wait. After 40 minutes: will take 10 more minutes. After another 20 minutes: got the order, but no naan. The guy argues with me that it was not ordered. Ok, can you please get 3 butter naans asap. After 30 minutes: brings plain naan, and convinces me that they put butter on plain naan. I take his word, come home to find out that is not even the case. 95 minutes and 100$ later, got average tasting food with incomplete order. Not happy with the food or service. I came here with my family and we went family style - ordering a bunch of stuff to try together. It was a Saturday evening, and the place was busy enough, but not packed. Appetizers: -Appetizer combo - This came with a Samosa, Veg Pakora (deep fried veggie fritters), Paneer Pakora (deep fried cheese), Chicken Pakora (fried chicken), Tandoori Chicken Wings, and Meat Balls that were spiced. My favorites were the Veg Pakora and Paneer Pakora. The meat balls were pretty good too, but definitely had a kick to them, so it's not for everyone. -Samosa Chat - This was chopped up samosa with onions, tomatoes, chickpeas, yogurt, spices. It almost felt like a samosa bowl, where the samosa was "deconstructed" and then some toppings were added. It was a pretty good dish, but a bit redundant since we got samosas as part of the appetizer combo. Mains: -Goat Rogan Josh with medium spice - This was probably my favorite dish of the mains, because the goat was tasty and tender, and the sauce had the right amount of spice and mixture of flavors to complement the meat. Goat has a very distinct flavor to it, similar to lamb, so be careful ordering this if you aren't fond of eating lamb. -Lamb Vindaloo with medium spice - This was also a tasty dish, with good spice levels and pretty good meat. The lamb was a bit tougher in texture, and the sauce was a little sweeter than I would have liked, but I still enjoyed it. -Chicken Tikka Masala - mild - This dish was also on the sweeter side for my preference - possibly a little too much tomato in it as well - but it seemed pretty standard to me. -Palak Paneer - mild - This dish was also pretty standard in my book - it tasted fine, but nothing stood out in terms of the spinach, cheese, or flavoring. -Chicken Momo - The meat had nice flavor, very spice-ful (and a tad spicy), and it went well with the included sauce. They look like Chinese xiao long bao (soup dumplings), but there's no soup inside. The tendency may be to get disappointed when the meat is drier than what you'd expect in an XLB, but for what it is, it's a good momo. -Garlic Naan - It's hard to get garlic naan wrong. -Kashmiri Naan - This was naan with pineapples, cherries, walnuts. So it was a sweeter bread, which almost served as a dessert for us. I enjoyed the combination of flavors, and thought that the subtle sweetness - it's not a "dessert bread" - allowed for the other ingredients (pineapples, cherries, walnuts) to come through better. The service was friendly and prompt, and they had an excellent Yelp check-in deal as well. The pricing is a tad high, but the check-in deal made it much more worth it. Overall, the food was tasty and the meal enjoyable, but my main qualm was how much water we had to drink during and after the meal - and this was all 4 of us, not just me. I felt like my mouth was extremely dry the rest of the evening, more so than usual when we go out to eat, and my family members all agreed that they had the same sensation / symptoms. Vibrant flavors and interesting dishes. Definitely more than a step above your average Indian takeout. Ordered everything a tad more spicy than we were used to, but despite that we braved through the heat because our dishes were tasty. So far, we've tried the jhol momo bowl (veggie momo), gobi manchurian, garlic naan, chicken vindaloo, and chicken choila. Our of these, the gobi manchurian and naan was our absolute favorite, followed by the chicken vindaloo which had a nice tang to it. The veggie momo was a very well-executed meat substitute. I'm not a vegetarian but enjoy veg dishes, and it was difficult to tell it was veg since the filling was savory and tender. Chicken choila was a bit too strong for us - the mustard oil overpowered the dish for our taste. Will definitely order again and try some new dishes! read more

Less than two minutes after we walked through the door, we were crazy about this place! Our servers were wonderful--kind, friendly and VERY patient, as it took some time to decide. Everything looked great! The Everest Special Lunch Plate is an amazing bargain. It comes with a spicy vegetable soup and small salad, and I chose basmati rice, aloo gobi (potatoes and cauliflower), chicken tikka masala and vegetable pakora, all for $7.95! Everything was perfect, and there was so much food, I took almost half of it home. My friend ordered chicken saag and garlic naan from the dinner menu; he loved both. I had a 15% off coupon from checking in, and we were able to apply it to his saag (my Special Lunch Plate was already a bargain). Went probably 5-7 times before the stay at home orders and have gotten contact-free takeout twice -- every time has been absolutely fantastic. Have gotten to try a bunch of Nepali stuff, the Indochinese stuff and the traditional Indian stuff and here's our take: Appetizers: 1. Pakoras -- super flavorful but were cold by the time we got home; my fault on that one. 2. Samosas -- really well-fried though not the most flavorful, my least favorite appetizer I've tried. 3. Chili fries -- fantastic, though I've only gotten them dine-in and also were grease bombs. 4. Steamed momo -- both vegetable and lamb were pretty well done, executed well but not my favorite in the Triangle. 5. Fried momo -- amazing. Addictive, especially the lamb. This one isn't on the online order form menu but they will make it if you call in your order. 6. Shrimp Manchurian -- really tasty though very few shrimp for the price point. 7. Gobi Manchurian -- my favorite version in the Triangle. Especially good if you ramp up the spice level. Breads: 1. Paratha -- totally fine though once was tough. 2. Kashmiri naan -- delicious and addictive. Also I like that they use cashews alongside the cherries and the coconut instead of walnuts like most places since my wife is allergic to them. 3. Bullet naan -- tasty but not too spicy, a bit tame. Chutneys/dips 1. Onion -- good and has some interesting spices in there (cardamom definitely is one). 2. Mango -- decadent and delicious, best I've ever had though definitely on the sweeter side of mango chutneys I've ever tried. 3. Mint -- serviceable. 4. Tamarind -- not so sweet and nice depth of flavor. 5. Raita -- not too runny and very large portion for the price. 6. Mixed pickles -- very tasty though it seems like they may process it through a food processor as it's smoother than most I've had (which I loved). Mains/curries: 1. Bhindi masala -- very very good though a little saucy for my taste. Second best I've had in the Triangle after Kabob and Curry. 2. Aloo gobi -- best version I've had though very saucy and onion-filled. Get it really spicy and you'll love it. 3. Vegetable vindaloo -- very strong vinegar taste which I absolutely loved 4. Cashew chicken -- don't know if this one is still on the menu but it was way too greasy (though still tasted great). 5. Chili momo -- basically fried momo with the same spicy soy sauce-based topping that's on the chili fries. Delicious though I would probably just prefer the fried momo by themselves. 6. Lamb korma -- creamy and full of nuts and spices. Complex and tasty. 7. Chicken tikka kebab -- very good, not dry at all, delicious. 8. Lamb biryani -- honestly my favorite in the Triangle which is saying a lot considering how many places do it. Always tender, full of deeply satisfying lamb flavors that you can only get from biryani. Along with the fried momo, the jhel momo and the Kashmiri naan it's my favorite dish at Everest. 9. Jhel momo -- very complex tomato-based broth with delicious vegetable momo in it. Probably the dish most representative of the Nepali influence of the chef. Overall amazing and we are so lucky it's here. read more

Indo-Pak restaurants with lunch buffets that charge reasonable prices are plentiful in the NC Triangle area. After a very disappointing experience at The Wild Cook's Indian Grill, I didn't want to leave the Triangle without having one good Indo-Pak meal. Yelp helped me find Everest Nepali Kitchen. The restaurant is in its first week of operations, and it only had one review when I was considering it. I ultimately decided it was worth a try because of the incredibly beautiful pictures. I walked into the restaurant and was instantly thrilled. The pictures almost don't do the food justice. Even on their lunch buffet, all of the dishes looked incredibly appetizing. I was downright ecstatic. The number of available selections on the buffet were above average for Indo-Pak restaurants, featuring Goat Biryani, Mixed Kabobs, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chili Chicken, Pakoras, Samosas, and a multitude of other dishes. There was even rice pudding and mango juice to satisfy your sweet tooth at the end of the meal. I am incredibly pleased to say that all of the selections featured unique and distinguishable flavors. I enjoyed everything that I tasted. I think I was most impressed with the Chicken Sekuwa, grilled chicken with Nepali spices. The Chicken Sekuwa dipped in their house made mint chutney was simply transcendent. Service was terrific throughout the experience. The server paid careful attention to our table and was able to easily answer my questions about the food. I regret only having one stomach to eat their delicious food. This was my first time at this restaurant. We ordered a number of dishes and every dish was great! Many people say that when it comes to food you eat with your eyes first. Well take a look at the great chicken biryani! We started with momo with chutneys. A nice start. We also ordered butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, chicken curry, shahi paneer, and a basket of four different naan breads. All of the dishes were outstanding!! They also do a spicy version (Chili Momo) with our choice of protein which is delicious A pleasant surprise on their appetizer menu were the Chips Chili which are the seasoned to perfection and dipped in spices fries! If you want to try a different twist on naan, you must have the Kashmiri naan which is sweet (but not too sweet!) and made fresh like all their naans! They have an "Indian coffee" which is a fascinating mix of tea and coffee with an aftertaste of cardamom! I've been here twice in the last couple of weeks and hope to have one more meal there before returning to Canada. On my first visit, I ordered the butter chicken, which back in Québec is usually the mildest dish one can order, often with little more than a slightly zinged-up tomatoey sauce. I ordered it with spice level 5 and was not disappointed, so much so that I ordered it again on my second visit. Once again, it was superb. The naan was delicious and the mango lassi arrived in a huge glass. I've been here twice for lunch and was surprised that despite good reviews, it was rather sparse at lunch on a weekday. It seems to be a family operation with staff alternately taking your order and serving you. I'm obviously not an expert on Nepali food (there's a large selection of Indian food as well) but found the Nepalese options very filling and tasty. On a previous visit I had the Jhol momo bowl (think huge dumplings in broth -- so much that I had to take some home) and this time I had thupka bowl which is a nicely spicy noodle soup. My wife had one of the vegetarian lunch platters, and despite the quantity of food she was hungry and finished it all. We found this place on accident- glad we did! We ordered eggplant, Chana masala, samosas, garlic naans, chai tea! The channamasala was very good! I ordered it 7 spicy----and will go with an 8 next time. It was perfectly spicy and was soo good! The chai tea was ok. I am gluten free and did not eat the naans or samosas but was told they were very delicious. Our friends ordered the low mein and the shrimp curry. They loved it! The service was great! Recently I've been getting a lot of take out from Everest because I love love love their Rogan josh and Korma. So I decided to come and dine for dinner on a Friday. Was also craving their samosa but ended up ordering samosa chaat by mistake. (I would argue they have one of the best samosa I have had in the region). Went to try this place as it was new in the area. Given that other Himalayan restaurants in the area have already built their reputation, I was a bit skeptical but gave it a try anyway. Being a North Indian, I never expect regular curries to taste as I like, so I usually don't try much of main course dishes in Nepali restaurants but I love all appetizers. We had Gobi Manchurian, Vegetable Momos, Vegetable Fried rice, Paneer Manchurian Gravy, Indian Coffee, Kheer and Gulab Jamun. Everything we ordered turned out to be really good. Come for the Saag, come for the Naan, come for the personable staff! I've been here a few times and the service has always been friendly, the Saag has been consistently good and the complimentary soup is always a hit. The manager came out to chat with me when I ordered my "heat" level to be off the charts. He was surprised when I ate the meal, much spicier and hotter than he would eat, and I gave him some praise for catering to my selection. It is not every day when I order "off the charts spicy" that I get it. On a scale of 1-5, give me 11, and they did it. I do need to be a bit more adventurous with the menu, the Saag is delicious, but I do need to try other selections. read more

I am a Cary resident and my brother recently visited from out of town. He loves Indian food and there is so much to choose from in Cary we went to a different Indian restaurant every night. It was all good, but hands down, we loved Everest over the others. Best garlic naan, best korma, best samosa chaat, best everything, and we like the atmosphere too. I cannot deal with spice without a lot of yogurt, but most Indian restaurants, when I ask for mild it is still a challenge for me to eat. Not so at Everest, if you ask for mild you get mild and the flavors of everything are scrumptious. The service is also great, every time. The same dishes are understandably made differently at different restaurants depending on the region of India they are from and the skill of the chef and which you like best is really a matter of preference. We got the garlic naan, chili momo, and chicken kourma. Everything was so delicious. My husband and I love spicy food and we picked the mid level of spicy and it was perfect to our liking. This was our first time here so we didn't want the spiciness to overwhelm the true taste. We loved the food so much that we kept nodding to each other while munching on these. You always worry about the packaging used at some restaurants when it comes to saucy food because we've all gotten home before with everything in the bag covered in sauce. That's never fun. The Chicken Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala were both very flavorful with tender pieces of chicken. The portions were very big too. I enjoyed dipping my garlic naan in both dishes. I didn't really care for their green chutney, it was lacking something... can't pinpoint exactly what it is though. Also, wasn't a fan of their Everest Jhol Momos. The sauce just didn't do it for me and not to be nitpicky but they didn't look like the picture posted by the business owner on Yelp. Would I recommend this place? Yes! The customer service here is horrible especially for takeout and curbside orders! They do have a great food. If it wasn't for the poor customer service they would receive five out of five stars. We placed a considerably large curbside order and paid for it in advance. Sometimes they offer a small complimentary rice pudding. We asked for three of them since we were ordering more than three entrees and appetizers. They agreed however when I picked up the food we only had one little container of the complimentary rice pudding. We ordered $60 worth of food and requested something. And the owners agreed. However when we picked up the food, they reneged. That is very poor customer service and we will not be back. They lost a customer of several years who make sizeable purchases. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of the food we got and were all happy with our choices. I got the spinach/paneer dish which name is escaping me as I write this, along with some samosas which were excellent. Several of my party ordered some street noodles with chicken and were very happy with them. The order of fried rice that was shared was wonderful, and the dumpling soup dish my coworker had was perfect. My only concern with the place is it's a bit of a hoof for us from where we work so we won't be able to add it to the weekly rotation but when we have a little bit of extra time on a day we can swing down from the triangle and get something great. read more

This opened up in my old stomping grounds. I used to love the small breakfast cafe which closed a few years ago but I was happy to see a Himalayan restaurant serving up Momos aka dumplings. On a cold soggy winter night we ordered in via Grubhub. Our order took longer than stated time and they kept updating time of delivery. I don't know who to blame for that though? The chicken and veg momos we ordered were just ok and added hint of turmeric wasn't the taste I was hoping for. The sauce served on the side hit the spot though. I was curious with the reviews and wanted to try by myself. We had a LOT of Nepali cuisine like Jhol Mo:Mo, Tandoori Chicken Wings, Samosa, Garlic Naan, Palak Paneer, Goat Kadhai etc. We were so satisfied with the food quality and services they provided. They were nice to us and always checking if food was good or something is needed. We enjoyed it. A definitely must go place if you want to try good cuisine from himalayas.
