I was really impressed with Zayka in Brier Creek. The restaurant is comfortable and beautifully decorated. The lunch buffet had so many options. My favorites were the Dal Bukhara and Butter Chicken. I appreciated the clear labeling at the buffet, I always knew exactly what I was putting on my plate. Nothing was overly spicy, but the seasoning and flavor on every dish were great. I also loved that they bring fresh naan to your table instead of letting it sit out at the buffet (where it can get stale or overcooked). The lunch buffet was about $22 per person, pre-tip, on a Sunday. Well worth the price! Our server was fantastic. He even pointed out that they have separate street food dishes included with the buffet (not just what's on the main line). The Kurkuri Aloo Tikki Chaat (potato cake) was delicious! We came here on a Friday night around 8pm. There was only one other party there so it wasn't busy at all. Service was great. We started with the chicken 65 and samosas. The samosa's were flaky, light, crispy, and stuffed with potatoes and chickpeas. They were delicious. I loved the sauces they provided alongside them as well. So good. We were a little disappointed in the chicken 65 only because it wasn't saucy, nor spicy. It had a bright color but it wasn't hot. The chicken tasted good though. The butter chicken was delicious. Let me start by saying first and foremost because service is so important to my experiences. Rasika was exceptional as our waitress for the night and made some seriously great recommendations for my partner and me. The food was outstanding. Perfectly seasoned, perfect spice/heat, and some of the best Indian food I have had in a very long time, maybe even best ever. It was an overall exceptional experience that included a warm ambiance and certainly a warm invitation on a day of rain and drizzle. As an appetizer, we started our dining experience with the very delicious RajWadi Samosa which are two light and tasty pastries filled with season potatoes and peas. Next, we ordered three dishes (because I mean one, or even two, just isn't enough). We ordered, and I recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala, a dish that includes barbecued chicken cooked and simmered with Mughlai sauce, London style, the Butter Chicken a dish that includes grilled chicken and a honey based creamy tomato sauce, and and for the third dish, I recommend the Baingan Bharta which is fire roasted mashed eggplant with some of the most delicious Indian spices (my very favorite dish and pairs so well with everything) and last, we ordered 2 orders of the garlic Naan, which might I add, is just EXCEPTIONAL. As stated above Rasika was just a superb waitress. She made sure we had a great area to sit and dine, she made sure we never went without drinks, and my wine recommendation was just beautifully paired with the meal, and she got the food to the table quickly and it was so hot and right on time. We were sat right away and the wait was patient enough to explain some dishes we weren't familiar with.. We went with mild but it was still a bit spicy for us but it was tasty.. The only thing is there was a party room towards the back of the restaurant and we were sitting back there, so it was pretty loud with the door open. There are a lot of Indian restaurants in the area that serve a variety of different style indian food but not many that serve northern India style food. Zayka is one of the few that serves mouth watering authentic northern india style food. I don't think I've had anything here that I didn't like and this time wasn't different. Here is what we got: 1) Amritsari Meat ki seekh: I've had seekh kabab at so many restaurants in the area but this was the best one so far. The seekh kabab was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. 2) Chef Special Chicken Kushk: We wanted to get something different than the standard butter chicken or chicken tikka masala. This Chef special did not disappoint. 3) Rajasthani Laal Maas: I always get a goat dish whenever I go to an Indian restaurant and this Rajasthani style goat hit the spot. It was full of flavor and the goat was very tender. Definitely recommend it. 4) Chur Chur Lacha Pratha: I rarely see this on the bread menu so I knew I had to get it. The pratha was cooked perfectly and was a perfect paring with the entrees. 5) Italian Baked Gulab Jamun Cheesecake: This was definitely a unique dessert. Perfect for someone who loves cheesecake and wants an indian twist to it. 6) Chicken Hakka Noodles: Classic Indo-Chinese dish. Can never go wrong with it. 7) Chocolate Martini: If you would rather drink your dessert then this is the perfect option. This chocolate Martini was very rich and tasted amazing. Weekend Buffet for those wanting a lighter touch on spice. We came in on Saturday during a Holiday weekend, and were seated fairly quickly with a nice iced glass of water to quench some of the summer heat. The decor was tastefully done, modern, and the seating was stylish as well. The buffet line was interestingly hidden behind a wall, so you don't get an easy view of what was available. While not the longest line, it did have a variety from lentils, paneer, chicken, goat, and a few desserts. The restaurant is North Indian, so the flavor profile is muted compare to their southern cousins. I do prefer a spicier and brighter flavor profile of the south, but if you're thinking about being folks who aren't used to it, this would be a good place to take them. The chicken was tender, and they did a good job on either sifting out the whole spices, or blending so it wasn't annoying to eat around them. The muttar paneer was a little hard, not my favorite texture for peas. The tandoori chicken could also use some more char. Overall, a good weekend choice if you live in Briar Creek and want a variety of food to eat. read more

I know there is a trend for the Indochinese food these days but I am not a fan. Chili paneer was not spicy and somewhat bland based on what you were expecting. The spring rolls were ok. The Manchurian was ok. Everything was ok but something was missing seemingly from every dish. Hakka noodles were decent. The butter chicken and malai kofta also were tolerable but really it's like every dish was missing something and not as spicy as it should be. I'm definitely not a super spicy eater but with Indian food you need the strong flavors. The gulab jamun was unusual inside of cheesecake. Came here on a Saturday for the lunch buffet (which they have daily, including weekdays). Most tables were open so there was no wait time. I liked the variety of non-vegetarian curry options in the buffet, all of which were okay but nothing special. I was a bit disappointed that almost all of the buffet options were cold. Some of the items like the kebabs and vegetarian cutlet were hardened and very difficult to cut through. Service was also slow with seemingly only 2 staff members seating customers, taking orders, cleaning, and bringing out food/drinks to all tables. Unlike other Indian buffets I've been to, drinks (like mango lassi and chai) cost an extra $4-6. The chai was good but pretty standard and nothing extra. Went in for an early dinner. The staff was very friendly and we loved the decor. There were lots of good options on the menu. I have read reviews that complained a little about the buffet- I can't speak on that. All I can say is that we were pleased with the regular dinner menu- though the portion size for the cost might have been a tad small. The naan bread was excellent as well. !Tuesday evening, started out slowly around 7:00, but began to fill up quite quickly. Very tasty food, interesting drinks list (see photo), service and ambience we're both good. My wife had a small plate, the Amritsari fish,and we shared samosas, I had a chicken vindaloo. Everything very much to our liking. Various breads and pickles and a shared rice pudding to finish. The martini I had was called "Meet your Martini", and it was surprising, spicy, flavorful and lasted me the whole meal. Quite a kicker! Came here with my spouse as we live close and we really enjoyed it! We started with two appetizers, the Gobhi Manchurian and the Samosa puffs on the bed of chickpeas. Both were good but we both agreed the Samosa/chickpea dish was the best. The flavors were super unique and we just really enjoyed it. I got the chicken tiki masala and my spouse got the butter chicken. We also sampled the butter naan, garlic naan, and chili garlic naan. Both entrees were good. I usually like butter chicken better but in this case I preferred tiki. I will say the protein serving size was a little disappointing, esp compared to other Indian restaurants in the area. But the flavors were great. The chili naan was SUPER SUPER spicy, so much so that neither of us could eat it unfortunately l. The other two were good! We also had some drinks. I ordered the mango martini and unfortunately was very disappointed. It tasted like a thick, thick mango purée mixed with sugar was put in a cocktail glass and that was it. I expected it to be more of a martini with a light mango purée. My spouse got a dirty martini, which was okay, but not great. Overall, loved the flavors in the apps and entrees. I ordered chicken tikka masala from Zayka and it had goat meat in it. I'm so disappointed I don't eat goat meat!! I have been on the phone with the restaurant and they are reviewing what happened but it's definitely not chicken as my photos show and I don't eat goat and I ate a bite before I knew it wasn't chicken because it's covered in sauce and I didn't know. It is incredibly few and far between when I meet food from India that I don't enjoy to some degree and I desperately wanted to love this place but I just didn't . On the positive side I went for lunch to avoid any rushes and there were only a couple of other patrons in the store. I was sat promptly and the server was kind and attentive. I ordered Chicken Tikka (not masala) which was very pricey for a lunch portion, coming in over 20 dollars without papad or naan (I bought papad on the side). The sauces and basmati were decent , but the thigh or maybe drumstick meat they served me (very dark) was almost 100% fat and connective tissue. I couldn't eat hardly any of it. They also served the veggies that most Indian restaurants would grill raw/salad style. It was very plain and bland. I love the caramelization of the veggies and meat when they are cooked together. Staff was polite and friendly. The ambiance doesn't matter a lot to me as long as the place isn't loud. There weren't very many patrons at the time I went so that wasn't an issue. Went there for lunch on a Sunday. I must have misread their sign because to me it implied the buffet was on Sunday as well. I had a lamb dish that was tasty. My complaints are, I'm currently in a dietary program where my carbs are reduced. They would not let me substitute rice for a vegetable. Speaking of vegetables this was the first Indian restaurant I've seen that doesn't have spinach or a cabbage dish as a side, not that it would matter because they won't let you substitute. The raita was $5 for a small amount. For that price I would expect a soup bowl or close to it, it was tasty though a bit watery. I sampled the nan and it was delicious. I was apprehensive about coming here due to reviews of staff but. I am SO GLAD we came. The staff was pleasant enough. I think people need to realize there is a culture difference and as such - the staff may not speak to react the way you are used to. They're also running very short staffed. Chicken chilly wasn't my favorite tho I tend to eat vegetarian. The paneer pakora and accompanying chutneys were very nice. We ordered chicken tikka masala spicy and paneer makani medium spicy. Both were phenomenal. I will for sure stick with the spicy option tho as their spicy isn't just a dry chili powder added.
