Beware of the high yelp rating! We were starving and excited to try this place after a couple hour hike at Umstead yesterday. We LOVE northern Indian and Nepalese food and were lured by the high yelp rating. I'll start with the good. The server was kind and efficient. The chili chicken momo were delicious. The rice and garlic naan were average to good as well. However, our butter chicken and our chicken korma tasted like nothing. It was very strange. There was texture and you could kind of taste the chicken itself but the sauces tasted like nothing. You could almost only tell the two apart based on color and texture. We ordered one of them medium spice and one mild. Even the medium spiced dish had zero flavor. I kind of thought to myself that something was off when the colors looked bright but we couldn't taste a thing. I kept thinking maybe the flavor or heat will build. It never did. Nevertheless we ate everything bc we were starving, but we were definitely disappointed in the lack of flavor. Not long after we left, our stomachs were kind of on edge but we figured this was simply from eating too much. This morning we both woke up ILL. Even though we discussed coming back for the chili momo only in the future, we have since changed our tune. Reasonably priced Nepali cuisine in Cary. Mild is actually mild so if you want spice, order at least medium. I highly recommend trying the tandoori mixed grill. The website is easy to navigate and place takeout orders. The menu items are described well and are accompanied by beautiful pictures. We appreciated the February coupon code that popped up when viewing the online menu. We also received complimentary gulab jamun which was very generous of them. This restaurant is conveniently located, and resides in a well- loved location. While the aesthetic is a bit dated we found the food to be generous in portion size, affordable, and delicious. We opted for the lunch special which extended to either 3 or 3:30 on a Saturday. The price is approximately $14-$16 and the sides are fixed you decide on vegetable, chicken, goat, or shrimp for your main. We love a restaurant that serves complimentary papadum with chutney. Ordered takeout from here, when we came to pick it up they had it ready for us, we didn't even have to ask! Very quick and easy. Their online ordering portal is also very simple. We ordered chicken jhol momos at a level 3 spice. For a white girl they were a lil painful but I enjoyed it nevertheless. The flavor was mmm yummy. We also got the Everest appetizer platter, which had the most scrumptious pakooras I ever did eat. I'm sure it would've been even better if I dined in and got them hot n ready. The mango lassi was a perfect way to cut the spice from the momos, might just be the best mango lassi in the triangle. The put ice in it for to-go so it stays cold, but the texture remained sound. Amazing food, and wonderful service. The restaurant is small and quaint, and you can tell there's attention to details. I was resolved to try new dishes other than the Tika Masala and butter chicken (which I ordered for take out) and had the lunch special of the day. Everything was delicious and I certainly plan to go back and try new things. I almost forgot to mention that they have many entrees which on their website look amazing, so I'm resolved to try a few more. We also had mo mo's which were yummy and slightly similar to won tons. But the lamb biryani that was spectacular and memorable. We got it at about a 4 on the 10 scale of heat and we loved it! I ordered the vindaloo lamb with naan and hot pickles, and I could not have enjoyed a meal more than this one. Although there was a steady stream of food pickups, I was the only diner on a Tuesday evening. The host/waiter was immediately attentive and took my order and asked for my heat level preference. The food was delivered promptly and the heat level perfect. The hot pickles were obviously fermented in house and fresh and delicious. The portion size was more than enough for me, and I am a heavy eater. I took home a small portion of rice and vindaloo with to pieces of naan. Enough for a small lunch. This is my first time trying this location. It's around 8:45pm when I walk in. Quite, as it is only take-out at this point. No worries for me. As I am walking back towards the station to order I am greeted kindly with a friendly hello (through his mask, of course). The gentlemen was so helpful in helping me decide and explaining what was in each dish. I asked for a suggestion of something really good, but no one really knows. Yes yes yes, this is my go to indian spot and I love it so much. I've tried THREE in the surrounding area and none hit like this spot. If I'm treating myself, I'm coming here. Only note is to trust their spice scale (which everyone should always do with indian food but this place especially!) I usually get a 2 (/10) because I'm a wimp, went up to 3 one visit and I won't make that mistake again lol! Lamb tikka is the BOMB. Great portions and lots of rice. I only have done takeout but its a casual spot on the inside with seating for small and larger parties. When I order online my food is usually always ready at pickup or only takes a few more minutes. Amazingly flavorful food and friendly service! I've been to many Indian restaurants, but this was my first introduction to Nepali food. What a great start! There are similarities - naan and curries on the menu - and some delicious Nepali specifics, like momos (dumplings). Everything was so good that we even asked to take home our leftover curry sauces. This is easily one of our favorite restaurants. It's almost two hours from where we live but when near we stop and get extra to bring home. The butter chicken, chicken korma, chicken 65, and homemade naan are our repeat favorites, but I don't doubt that everything this small family owned business serves would be anything less than delicious. Service is always exceptional and when we order extra to go they always add rice pudding to the order at no charge, which is a nice touch. If you're looking for solid Nepali eats, Everest Nepali Kitchen will fill the bill! While it's smaller then my fave, Himalayan Range Nepali, it still offers a large menu of Indo-Chinese, Indian and Nepali classics. I've eaten here a couple of times and they've got some interesting items like tandoori wings. I'd have to say their Indian dishes are a bit deeper and more flavorful then some other places and they offer up huge portions. Their naans are solid if not exceptional. But when everything is said and done, I'd happily grab lunch here and leave happy. While they may not be at the top of my list of Indian eats, they are pretty durn close. A friend and I ordered food for pick up from Everest. She's been here frequently in the past and now I can see why! I got the Chips Chili appetizer ($6.95) and Baingan Bharta ($10.95). The Chips Chili was my favorite! Incredibly flavorful - picture a generous portion of heavily spiced French fries. Definitely ordering it again when I come back. The Baingan Bharta was decent but I've had better in other restaurants. However, the other dishes looked really good too so I'm excited to try more of their menu. They make their dishes with a spice level of 1-10. I love spicy food but wasn't feeling like having any tonight so I got a level 5. It was still pretty spicy so beware! My son and I came in for lunch on a weekday. The proprietor was welcoming and the dining area was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated with pictures and prayer flags from Nepal. On a Friday evening, Ordered food: at 5:30 and was supposed to be a 30 minute wait. After 40 minutes: will take 10 more minutes. After another 20 minutes: got the order, but no naan. The guy argues with me that it was not ordered. Ok, can you please get 3 butter naans asap. After 30 minutes: brings plain naan, and convinces me that they put butter on plain naan. I came here with my family and we went family style - ordering a bunch of stuff to try together. It was a Saturday evening, and the place was busy enough, but not packed. Appetizers: -Appetizer combo - This came with a Samosa, Veg Pakora (deep fried veggie fritters), Paneer Pakora (deep fried cheese), Chicken Pakora (fried chicken), Tandoori Chicken Wings, and Meat Balls that were spiced. My favorites were the Veg Pakora and Paneer Pakora. The meat balls were pretty good too, but definitely had a kick to them, so it's not for everyone. -Samosa Chat - This was chopped up samosa with onions, tomatoes, chickpeas, yogurt, spices. It almost felt like a samosa bowl, where the samosa was "deconstructed" and then some toppings were added. It was a pretty good dish, but a bit redundant since we got samosas as part of the appetizer combo. Mains: -Goat Rogan Josh with medium spice - This was probably my favorite dish of the mains, because the goat was tasty and tender, and the sauce had the right amount of spice and mixture of flavors to complement the meat. Goat has a very distinct flavor to it, similar to lamb, so be careful ordering this if you aren't fond of eating lamb. -Lamb Vindaloo with medium spice - This was also a tasty dish, with good spice levels and pretty good meat. The lamb was a bit tougher in texture, and the sauce was a little sweeter than I would have liked, but I still enjoyed it. -Chicken Tikka Masala - mild - This dish was also on the sweeter side for my preference - possibly a little too much tomato in it as well - but it seemed pretty standard to me. -Palak Paneer - mild - This dish was also pretty standard in my book - it tasted fine, but nothing stood out in terms of the spinach, cheese, or flavoring. -Chicken Momo - The meat had nice flavor, very spice-ful (and a tad spicy), and it went well with the included sauce. They look like Chinese xiao long bao (soup dumplings), but there's no soup inside. The tendency may be to get disappointed when the meat is drier than what you'd expect in an XLB, but for what it is, it's a good momo. -Garlic Naan - It's hard to get garlic naan wrong. -Kashmiri Naan - This was naan with pineapples, cherries, walnuts. So it was a sweeter bread, which almost served as a dessert for us. I enjoyed the combination of flavors, and thought that the subtle sweetness - it's not a "dessert bread" - allowed for the other ingredients (pineapples, cherries, walnuts) to come through better. The service was friendly and prompt, and they had an excellent Yelp check-in deal as well. The pricing is a tad high, but the check-in deal made it much more worth it. Overall, the food was tasty and the meal enjoyable, but my main qualm was how much water we had to drink during and after the meal - and this was all 4 of us, not just me. I felt like my mouth was extremely dry the rest of the evening, more so than usual when we go out to eat, and my family members all agreed that they had the same sensation / symptoms. I don't know if we ordered something in particular with a lot of salt or msg added, but unfortunately, all 4 of my family members were chugging water the rest of the night after our meal. read more

Vibrant flavors and interesting dishes. Definitely more than a step above your average Indian takeout. Ordered everything a tad more spicy than we were used to, but despite that we braved through the heat because our dishes were tasty. So far, we've tried the jhol momo bowl (veggie momo), gobi manchurian, garlic naan, chicken vindaloo, and chicken choila. Our of these, the gobi manchurian and naan was our absolute favorite, followed by the chicken vindaloo which had a nice tang to it. The veggie momo was a very well-executed meat substitute. I'm not a vegetarian but enjoy veg dishes, and it was difficult to tell it was veg since the filling was savory and tender.
