Grabbed lunch from here recently and had a great time! First, parking is easy because Afghan Kebab is part of a strip mall. Inside, it was relatively austere, but the seats were very comfy! You order and pay at the counter and then they deliver your food to your table - I'm a fan of this setup because I can leave quickly and not have to wait for the server to give me the check :) It took maybe ~15 minutes to get our food, but it was piping hot and fresh when it arrived. It was so tasty! My wife and I split the Goat Karahi, which came with "two naan bread" (those naan must be huge, because it seemed more like five naan bread to us!) in a separate basket. The goat was flavorful and the sauce was delicious. The naan were fluffy and tasted really good too. The staff were nice and helpful throughout the meal. This will definitely be one of our new lunch spots, and I'm excited to come back! read more

Was surprised with Afghan Kebab..... Let's just say it was a good surprise :-) Location is tucked away in a shopping center In a corner store front ... so if you dont look for it... you'll miss it .. So went inside and was greeted my a nice smiling gentleman behind the counter and place is very clean and simple. The gentleman behind the counter was very accommodating and helped with explaining the menu which is a small no frills menu which is a good thing .. Orders the mixed platter with an order of Naan.. Was told to have a seat and he would bring it out and to enjoy a complimentary cup of tea (green tea) ... i was disappointed it wasn't the traditional Rose tea that I am used to at other Afghani Kebob joints but it was ok ... The food came out pretty quick and looked simple and delicious.. The chicken was flavorful and moist .. just needed a lil bit more sumac and a pinch of salt .. The Naan is your basic Naan so nothing to share there.. Overall a good experience with no frills and thrills kebobs... Definitely will come back and try another dish ... Time to now find a place that serves beef Paya. Like I was used to from Kabob Palace back in Arlington VA :-) read more

Hmmm we came here after getting off the plane. We love afghan food as we used to live in Los Angeles where I started my career in Yelp :). Anyway we walked in, and yup it's a hole in the wall. We ordered the yogurt, naan, bolanee, and mixed grill which came with chickpeas and rice with chicken and beef. The bolanee came out first. Different from what I expected as we used to eat it at the farmers market and buy to bring home. It was good. The sauce that comes with is sorta spicy so I had to dip the bolanee in the yogurt so I tempered my delicate taste buds. We then got the naan. The naan was ok. Not the best I've had. Decent. We then got our meal. The rice was not the hero as it was good not great. The chicken was good and the beef was good. I was I guess expecting more out of the rice. Chickpeas was excellent! We then got Talia which again was expecting different than what we got but it was delicious either way. Overall 4.7 so I'd come back. read more

The rice was a bit dry and the meat was well done whereas I would have preferred it to be medium rare. The service was very friendly though and the inside was kept clean. Worth a try for this curious. Plenty of parking outside too. read more

I want to love this place. I really do. And perhaps this is just the way restaurants are going now, but if I'm going to spend $25 on an entree and a mango lassi, I would like it to be served on an actual plate with actual flatware, not paper plates (however compostable) and plastic cutlery, and I would like to not be expected to bus my own table. I could cite (but I won't) two other restaurants in the Triangle that do this and it is not a good trend. All that said, the reason I want to love this place is that the food is very, very good and the owner is kind and friendly without being overly effusive. The beef kobidah is tasty and generously portioned (though not much different from the adana kebab I've had at other Middle Eastern restaurants in the area). I would have liked the rice to be more interesting, but the accompanying chickpeas were a revelation -- interestingly spiced, with just a bit of heat. Delicious. The rather pedestrian naan was primarily good for mopping up the sauce from the chickpeas. My companion enjoyed the goat karahi, though it really should be served including a side of rice for the gravy (it's extra, though the owner brought some without charge while we were there). The mango lassi is excellent. It has rich dairy flavor with the mango flavor being equally forward. It's sweet and mellow and satisfying. As I said in the introduction, the food is fantastic. I just wish the overall experience for the money was better. read more

We were greeted with smiles and the food was seasoned to perfection. The restaurant is not going to wow you with aesthetics but it will knock your socks off with flavor. For those who grew up in an inner city filled with small family owned restaurants from around the globe you know what I'm saying. Very cool kind of Hipster and Ethnic served Afghan dishes make this an adventurist destination that was a find. Very flavorful ethnic food that you just don't come across often. You order your food and it takes a bit but not too long to get it because they're cooking it up fresh when you order. It is worth the wait though once you get your food. Came here on opening day for dinner. The food was delicious! Our favorites were the mantu and bolanee. Bolanee was crispy and savory, and the mint chutney to dip it in was very aromatic. Mantu was so savory but still light. It was a great appetizer to the main dish. Mixed grill had a little bit of every type of kabob they had. It was tender and juicy. We also got the Firni and chai, which were both a great way to end the meal. Service was great. Wait time wasn't too bad; especially knowing everything was cooked fresh to order. I'm so excited Afghan Kebab opened up! Can't wait to try all the dishes. We will definitely be back. read more

Yummy (halal) food. Even though it was super busy, but food came pretty quickly. Loved the Chapli Kabab.. It wasn't that spicy nor was it burnt. This place claims to have real authentic kardahi chicken and kabli pulao. No way, near that!! I am giving the 3 stars for their efforts and desire of catering to the Indian and Pakistani muslim community but recommend that the cook watch some I-Tube videos of how the real Pakistani and Afghani food is made. They can become a 5 Star place if they brought real authentic taste to their food. It will be while before tried them again. Good luck. read more

Afghan kebab is a new restaurant in the Cary area. It is a small hole in the wall restaurant, but the owner and managers were incredibly hospitable. We were made to feel at home. They serve complementary delicious Afghan green tea. We ordered different kebab platters, but by far the best dish was the goat Karahi! It comes, served in a simmering wok with fresh Afghan naan bread. I highly recommend having a side of Afghan rice with it (topped with sautéed carrots, onions, and raisins). The aroma, herbs, texture, flavors of the karahi are truly out truly of this world. we felt like we were eating in historic Afghanistan honestly. Will definitely be recommending this restaurant to loved ones and we will be back again soon. read more

We decided to eat here for Eid-Al-Adha and ordered Mutton Karahi and Chapli kebabs and both items were amazing! Even the channa that came with the kebab were delicious. I've not eaten food as fresh and delicious as this place so far! We also tried their falooda and it was the best one we've had. Also, their service was excellent! We had heard great things and decided to check it out today. We could not have been more pleased! Everything we tried was great, as was the service from every employee with whom we interacted. We had the samosas, chicken Karachi (came with naan and chutney), kobideh and chicken tikka. The karahi is better than any we've had in NC, as were the kobideh. It's a casual place but they've invested in very comfortable seating. My only concern is that, once more people learn of this place, it will get full. read more

The incredible aromas hit you as soon as you walk in the door, and the staff are very pleasant. The samosas were some of the best I've had, and I've eaten a *lot* of them over the years. Very fresh and crispy where they should be crispy, and soft where they should be soft. The naan was delightfully fresh and chewy, just the way my boyfriend and I like it. The chicken tikka kebabs were moist, tender and deliciously seasoned, and the chipli patties were also very good, flavorful but not too spicy. The rice pudding was simply delicious, extra thick with just the right amount of sweetness. We're delighted that this restaurant is right around the corner from us, and we'd highly recommend it to anyone! read more

This was my first time here. I was looking for a better and different experience from the usual mom and pop restaurants. I have never tried Afghan food before. Walking in I was surprised at the seating. The chairs are padded. Next, the aromas were pleasant. So I picked #11 from the menu board. My meal was not a disappointment.
