I visited her tonight with a friend and my mom. Overall I'd give it four and a half stars. Outside it doesn't look like a lot, but once inside it's a very nice cafe and well kept. It was very clean. It's small, so be prepared for a wait during peak times. It seems 6:30 is when it fills up. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have a good variety and something for everyone. The spinach dip was excellent. The bread was toasty but soft. It was a nice portion to split between three people. For dinner my mom and I had the rueben, and my friend the steak sandwich. The rueben was a bit messy but very good. The roasted red potatoes were. My only complaint was the fries were over seasoned. My friends steak sandwich was very good. He said the meat was cooked perfectly, and a nice portion. We split the raspberry cake. It was huge. It could have been a bit more moist, but the flavor was great. Talk about hidden gems ! This place is the holy grail !!! I stopped in on my way home from South Haven Michigan . The place was packed, but didn't have a long wait . We really enjoyed our evening at Evergreen. We started with southwest egg rolls and bruschetta. They were really good and then I had the ribeye and my wife had the walleye and those were excellent. One of our friends had the pork chops and those might have been the taste winner of the evening! We had 4 different desserts and all where wonderful but the bread pudding was the best I ever had! Holy moly!!! We were on our way from South Bend back to Indy - we decided to take the detour to this restaurant as there are zero breakfast places on 31 (except McDonald's ). We are so very glad we did. I had the country breakfast. Eggs, bacon and pancakes. The pancakes taste like marshmallows. Kids split the biscuits and gravy. It was perfect - and after they tasted my pancakes I made some trades. Husband got the ham Benedict and love it. We also had a mimosa (you get the split bottle to make your own) and ultimate coffee. Rochester has needed a spot like the Evergreen. The interior is exposed brick wall with John Lennon and Marilyn Monroe among other pop art spotting the walls. It was Mother's Day, and the staff was very accommodating at getting our table of 7 in before their closing time. Our server was friendly and helpful. Our whole table enjoyed all of our food. We had salads, chicken Alfredo, filet medallions, and perch as well as cake and crisp for dessert. They have some nice kids meals at a reasonable price. I was pleased to see their wine list included the standards as well as some sweets from some Indiana wineries. We will look forward to trying more of the menu on our next visit. read more

Driving home to Indy from Lake Michigan, looking for something different.. this place had good reviews and 4.5 stars! And I know why!!! With all covid stuff happening this restaurant was doing everything to ensure there was social distancing with tables 6feet apart, employees were all masked and someone was going around wiping not only the top of the table down but the chairs and backs of the chairs too! It started with the host telling us our table of 3 it would be a 10 minute wait.. no big deal! It was 11:50am and breakfast ended at noon. So she made sure to ask if we were getting breakfast or if we wanted to wait and get lunch. We wanted breakfast! We were sat, ordered some coffee! They gave creamer and sugar packets. (I do prefer the little cups of creamer so I can add vanilla flavor and I know how much creamer is being added) The server asked if my baby needed milk or anything to drink, which I thought was nice because at most places they don't even acknowledge the baby! We ordered ham Benedict with hashbrowns on the side! Shrimp and bruschetta omelette and I added avocado on top with an English muffin and raspberry jam! I loved the shrimp and bruschetta omelette! We passed this place on the way to an antiquing adventure and decided it would be our lunch spot. The decor is clean and cute---a little modern, a little rustic, but warm and inviting. My husband and I both opted for salads. My spinach bacon salad was delicious. The egg was initially left off, but I notified the waitress and she brought some promptly. No harm done! It's rare I'm sad when I get to the bottom of a salad, but I sure was today. My husband liked his Cobb salad, but I'm preeeetty sure it couldn't have been as good as mine. We shared a piece of the six-layer chocolate cake for dessert. Honestly, six people could have shared this six-layer cake! It was HUGE! See the picture. Really, it was crazy. A little Expensive sides for sandwiches -condiments extra charge for each, small portions

My wife and I took her cousin and his son there on the way from Bloomington to South Bend. I was looking for a place that served fresh, local, and as organic as possible and certainly Evergreen fit that bill. The food was very tasty, very well prepared, and for what you get, a very good deal. The local organic Amish green beans were exquisitely prepared, tender but still with a little bite to them, and still green, not an over-cooked olive drab. They were finished with a drizzle of a very ordinary olive oil and could have benefited from a light dusting of parmaseano reggiano or some fleur de sel. The rosemary potatoes were done perfectly and finished with a golden toastiness. I had the marinated skirt steak sandwich with grilled onions and red peppers, Olga had the ahi tuna (just rare on the inside--perfect!), Alexey had the grilled tenderloin and Nikita had the rueben--his first. Virginia was our server. It was filling and delicious, the perfect amount of food, and the total was just shy of $50. It did seem to take a tad long for the food to be served, but for the quality it was worth it. I imagine the proprietors are walking a tight line between elevating the palate of the community and serving really good food. Stepping up the condiments would be a good, inexpensive way to elevate their game. They are provisioned by Sysco, so I was skeptical of the table salt, and they could use a better ketchup and mayonnaise like Sir Kensington's, instead of the bulk industrial mayo and Heinz ketchup. We would definitely go 2 hours out of our way to dine there again, and are very enthusiastic about Evergreen. read more

My wife and I enjoyed our 2020 Valentines Day dinner at the Evergreen Eatery. It was our first visit, and was on a busy date night. We had reservations, and were immediately seated. The service was excellent, the meal was good, as was the dessert. The only negative was the incorrect mood lighting. The dining room is incredibly well lit by hanging fixtures and recessed spotlights. It was brighter than my office at work. Really detracted from what is supposed to be a romantic night out. I am so happy to see such a fine restaurant like this crop up in Rochester. It has really brightened up Main Street. The environment inside is clean and modern. It is my understanding that they even have live music from time to time. I had the 4 oz steak sandwich. It wasn't just a slab of meat on a bun. They cooked the steak perfectly and sliced it into bite-sized pieces onto a toasted baguette. On top they added an asiago ranch which paired perfectly with the rest of the sandwich.
