A while back, I had a super busy week and decided to get a bunch of different dishes to sustain me for a while. I'm so sorry to say this, because I always want to support a family owned business, but the food here is just not that carefully prepared. I added salt to a few things, and my eggplant dish had spongy, firm eggplant pieces in a sauce that tasted strongly of undercooked canned tomatoes. Dosa was very oily and not the right texture. Overall this tasted like the food I make at home in my instant pot. I hate to sound like a curmudgeon, as I'm normally a very generous reviewer. A new review, down from 5 stars to 2. Not sure what has happened, but since last time I ate dinner here they have discontinued serving Thali dinners (entree, rice, plus small servings of veg of the day, sambal, raita, and naan). Only dinner option now is a single entree, but at nearly the price of a Thali. I might have still splurged here in the future, but the Lamb Vindaloo was tough and gristly, and the potatoes hard and undercooked. Sauce was amazing. Not sure if they're cutting corners on ingredients now, or I just caught them on a bad night. But I think I'll be going elsewhere for Indian next time. We were traveling across state and decided to stay the night in Eugene. We wanted something spicy after eating sandwiches and pizza for 2 days. Took our chance on this place because I'm not always happy with Indian restaurants in other areas. The food was great. We got dosas and appetizers. What was also really great was customer service. We requested utensils and the restaurant sent it with the order. Usually, in my experience, restaurants ignore the instructions in online orders and this restaurant took care of everything we request. I recommend this place. read more

We stopped here during a road trip and ordered food to go for dinner. Just from our experience while ordering food and waiting for the same, we thought of giving it a great review. The lady who took the order was very helpful to answer our questions and help placing order. The food was great, everything tasted great except one chicken item which was little flat due to all chunky breast pieces. Their thhali options are great as well. Literally the best Indian food I've ever had... Every time I go, it seems to just get better! I've tried the saag, koorma, and Evergreen chicken (all chicken dishes) and each one is phenomenal. Always comes out fresh, hot, and doesn't take a long time to get to the table. Chicken is ALWAYS so tender and juicy, and portion sizes are great. Just visiting Eugene . We arrived at the restaurant and we should have left when we noticed they were not staffed well. Staff seemed confused about show ordered what when we were waiting for a table. We don't know Eugene and did not want to take the time to research other places. The restaurant was clean and bright and smelled good. After we were seated, we waited a while to have someone take our order. We were not offered any water. We ordered and our food came out fairly quickly. Definitely much more so than those who arrived well before us. The lamb samosas were AMAZING. Spicy well balanced with all the yummy sauces. The Aloo Gobi was under cooked. Potatoes undercooked and crunchy cauliflower. too bad because the sauce was tasty. Do not get the cheese naan unless you want mozz stuffed bread. Not very Indian. ALWAYS a long wait for your food when ordering take out. While you waiting for your food it feels like they dont want you to be there. Its probably time to start looking for a new Indian food business. Can't continue to do business like this anymore. Pick up experience is less than great. Turned out if you order the dosa to go it's assemble yourself, which is a no of your camping. There were no napkins or utinsel included. The amount of mix you had to put in the middle was less then a regular baked potato and the peas tasted frozen. Since we were camping he asked for a box that we could use to attempt to assemble it in the car. The amount of food was so small for $9 I would have refused to pay if I picked it up. If you follow my reviews you will notice we were EXTREMELY happy with the Indian restaurant on San Francisco and the price was extremely close to the same. Do not waste your money here, as soon as we set up the tent we are headed into town for food since 3/4 a baked potato and a handful of frozen peas isn't going to fill up anyone once it's split. I seriously don't see how anyone gave this place more than 1 star. I want a refund. This place is a SKIP! read more

The food was very good, we loved each dish we ordered. Sadly there was a clump of hair in one of the dishes that left us pretty disappointed. Additionally, we were told our to-go order would be ready in 25-35 minutes. We arrived after 30 minutes and had to wait an additional 30 minutes. Reviewing the lunch buffet: Hard 5/5, one of the most pleasurable experiences I've had in Eugene comparing to other 'normal' price range restaurants. The interior was very clean and kept up, pleasant traditional decor but nothing too over the top gave it a really authentic feel. The server(s) were incredibly nice and pleasant, they moved quick to keep ontop of any mess and discarded plates on tables even despite being quite busy when I arrive. The buffet seemed fairly small but despite that there was quite a bit of selection and tons of different flavor profiles. I personally have very minimal experience with Indian theme food so I tried almost everything they had and not one thing I didn't like. In fact everything was 4/5 or better with the majority being a 5/5 in every department. I grabbed so many different things that I can't recall specific names to give notable mentions but I do remember the rice pudding... oh the rice pudding was literally to die for, I found myself drifting off spooning this god tier dessert into my mouth. Definitely check this place out, especially for the lunch buffet, it's only $11.95 and includes drinks / dessert, etc. you can't go wrong here. read more

UPDATE 7/2/20 We have ordered takeout from Evergreen more than any restaurant during this pandemic. We love their food, but most importantly, our 9 yr old loves their food. Unfortunately, we have had issues with timing. They are not good at estimating time for pick up. Unless you order before 5pm, it's a very long wait for food in the parking lot because it's not ready anywhere near when they estimated. We have also had an order missing part of the food that we didn't notice until it was home. Otherwise, we still love evergreen and intend to keep ordering, just will make sure to always order before 5pm. _______________________ Excellent buffet with lots of options. The food here is pretty good. Their menu has a lot of options spanning many dietary preferences. Never been disappointed in the quality of the food. The only reason I do not give a higher score is their service is consistently soooooooo slow. There have been times I have gone in and there are only a small handful of tables occupied and it still takes a good 15 minutes to get an order in. I ordered delivery tonight, and I was surprised to get my order a bit earlier than anticipated, which was nice. However, my vegetable samosas were missing and they sent meat samosas instead. I don't eat meat, so it was a huge bummer, especially since I quite liked their samosas last time I ordered them. My roommate thought the samosas were good, but it's pretty disappointing to not be able to eat the food I ordered because of the mix up. First things first: Get the coffee. GET THE COFFEE! It is glorious. I would go back just for the coffee. We ordered Chicken Masala and Lamb Saag. All of the food was flavorful and delicious. We chose the dinner (many of the meals offer an a la carte option or a full dinner option called Thali) which came on a cafeteria style tray (I loved it) and included little scoops of several different dishes. I tried many things I have never tried before, and there was only one thing I did not like the flavor of. (It was the yogurt, and I am not a fan of yogurt in general). The naan was so, so, SO much better than any naan I have ever bought at the store. I didn't know it could taste so good. The portion sizes were very large and we had left-overs for a few days, after having just ordered two meals. The service was great. It was fairly busy on a Sunday night, and a handful of the groups who came in had a comaraderie with the staff that was a good indicator of the friendliness of the place. The food lacked flavor(pretty bland) and I honestly kept thinking of all the other places we could have gone to get our money's worth. The service was good and they greeted us well. This is the indian restaurant in Eugene. Parking isn't an issue as they've their own private lot and well, this isn't the bay area. There will be parking whenever you need it. It's a one way street to enter so no left turns to get out, and if you overshoot just circle the block and come back. Well sort of. The way the roads laid out it's more like circle several blocks and come back. Don't be a Steve and pay attention to where you are going is what I'm saying here. This is a fairly large sized restaurant which is really fully popular. I've never had to wait for a table-I hear that can happen-but you won't get then run of the place either. It can be noisy as well. The dining area is a light veneer of Indian décor over classic American diner. While they do have a few table/chair spots to fit in extra people odds are that you will be a plush booth. On the bright side the booths are in good repair and are clean. While this is undoubtedly the best Indian restaurant in Eugene it may not be the best anywhere. The best part is of course that they have a south Indian menu-the idli's are a good if unexceptional choice. Light, fluffy but lacking that distinctive flavor we know that dish can have. Ditto for the chicken tikka masala. This is more then redeemed by the sizeable portions and generous amounts of chutneys. Service was superior. The waitstaff literally never stopped moving, and even on the dinner rush the kitchen came through with hunger pleasing rapidity. As far as pricing goes I'd estimate about a fifteen to twenty dollar plate on the low side. For us that seemed a decent price especially considering the portion size and the fact that south Indian style menu's are not all that common. Great spot for dosa cravings. Can't speak for the buffet as we did not try it on our dinner visits, but I can recommend the take out. Maybe not the best dining ever but certainly the best in this area. read more
