Vegetable Tikka Masala with Rice Garlic Naan
    Kirsten R.

Delicious food, great service, and fun environment with Indian music videos playing. I will definitely stop in again as the food was prepared quickly and made a quick stop for a bite to eat possible.

The place was a small and what seemed to be family owned. Very friendly service. The food tasted home made and I cook not stop eating it, even though I was so full. We ordered the garlic naan, chicken tandoori and sag paneer. If I am ever in town again, I will definitely come back here

Lamb curry with a side of Garlic Naan and a Mongo lassi was my order. Overall I rate the Taste of India a good 3 stars. Our food was very good, well portioned, prepared quick and the people working provided excellent customer service.

Omg! This food was delicious! The service was excellent and we really enjoyed our meal. We had chicken Tikal masala and a shrimp creamed curry dish with some garlic nan. Yum!

Excellent lamb curry, lamb tikka masala, veggie samosa, and garlic naan. Very flavorful and super tender meat! Fresh basmati rice. Friendly family-run establishment. Casual place to dine in or take out. Only thing I would critique is the lack of disposal gloves while handling food in the kitchen. Otherwise, delicious and efficient!

Cheap local joint. Good food. Interior was better in the 90s and the other location in Portland. You get what you pay for I guess

Of course, had my Yelp app handy and it found Bar Purlieu for me. I got there right at 4pm when they opened since it was a Friday night, 4th of July weekend so did not know if I was going to get a big crowd since I had no reservations. I ordered the following: House Chianti (excellent)!! regret that I did not take a picture of the bottle ($14) Bone Marrow Appetizer: melt in your mouth delicious ($19) Filet Mignon: delicious, it had a morel mushroom sauce and it was absolutely divine. I got it medium rare and it was perfect ($50) 6 Oyster's: very meaty and you need to ask for fresh horseradish and tabasco sauce. They only have 1 small bottle of tabasco sauce for the whole restaurant and they serve raw oysters... what??? that is insane!!! ($4.50 PER OYSTER-that is insane too but they were nice an meaty). I will definitely be back!!!! Will bring my own Costco size Tabasco sauce

EXTRA crisp POMMES FRITES with warm & savory garlic aioli (like Freedom Fries from Macdo in France, upgraded!), paired with a black garlic-seasoned fresh-from-the-farm KNEE DEEP TARTARE atop aioli (little heavy, upside-down) & crisp brioche with crunchy fried shallots sprinkled on top - a fresh & slightly funky take on the the original. Claire had me at "dessert menu," and this PISTACHIO BUTTER PIE has a green moussey pistachio butter that's smooth but nutty between a chocolate-spiced graham crust & top layer of chocolate ganache, pistachios & flake salt. Could I get my triglycerides checked with that?!

I had their kabocha squash salad ($11) along with a roasted salmon onigiri and a lamb curry onigiri ($7 apiece). The salad was a hit and caught me by surprise. It used pureed squash which worked really well with the crunchy pepitas and greens. It was very flavorful and balanced. The salmon onigiri was also very good, but perhaps overshadowed by the star of the show -- the lamb curry onigiri. It was love at first bite, with the powerful savory flavors taking me for a ride and some heat that had me craving the next one. Honestly it is worth the trip just to have one (or five) of these. I got to speak to the chef about how he makes them, and it was obvious that there is a lot of thought and passion given to this food. It's a very nice space and there was good music playing. Food is served until close (currently 10pm) If I could give one suggestion, I would say to dim the lights a bit at night. Overall I am excited to return and work through the entire menu.
