My friends really like the galbi tang at Evergreen, so we got dinner together last Saturday. The restaurant was really packed with most groups ordering some sort of grilled KBBQ meat, and each person had a bowl of naengmyeon in front of them. Welp. Our sole goal and mission was to enjoy a galbi tang each, so that's what we did. HAEMUL PAJEON We got the seafood pancake to share between the three of us. It was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The texture wasn't too crispy, and it contained a good amount of seafood and green onions. I wouldn't necessarily order this again, but it's not bad if you're looking for a comforting staple. GALBI TANG It came piping hot with lots of big chunks of beef. We asked for scissors to cut it into bite-sized pieces which really helped. The broth was flavorful with a deep beef flavor. Not a lot of vermicelli noodles, which I would have preferred more of. Overall, pretty solid, but I don't think I like it as much as my friends do. Service was incredibly slow, but also because it was incredibly busy. They had a robot that would deliver banchan and food to each table, but it seemed to be dysfunctional half of the time. The variety of banchan was nice, my favorites were the potatoes, spinach, and mung bean jelly. Overall, the food we got was fine, but I know I want to get the grilled meat + naengmyeon combination next time. read more

Wow this place is amazing. I didn't even know it was a Korean bbq restaurant because it's in the corner of a strip mall and looks tiny from the outside. But we got recommendations from a friend and decided to go. It was absolutely delicious! The meat was perfectly grilled and the naengmyun was the best I've had in the states. Their side dishes are so good too. They are unlimited refills. It's inexpensive for a good amount of food. I will definitely be coming back and recommend it to everyone! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food during my two recent visits with my family. As a native Korean, I find their dishes to be among the most authentic of any Korean restaurant we have tried in Centreville and even comparable to what we get in Korea. We haven't tried their BBQ yet, but their side dishes, grilled fish, noodle soups, and jjigae (stews) were truly exceptional. It was a very average experience. I wouldn't recommend if you want kbbq- there are better options in the area. The biggest disappointment was the gopchang (intestines). I ordered it after seeing a photo advertising it around the walls and on the TV. What we got looked nothing like what was being advertised. The bright side of our eating experience was that it wasn't as loud as other kbbq places; they don't play the loud kpop. I came here on a Saturday night for dinner. There was no wait and I was seated quickly. Overall: Service is nice, decent food, okay prices. Seafood pancake: definitely comes in a big appetizer size to share with others. Crispy outside and has a kick to it since there's peppers inside. LA galbi: good flavor, some pieces were fatty & chewy. Tofu kimchee: comes with pork belly. How did I find out about this place so late? The place feels like I wandered down the back alley of some street in Seoul! It's simple and no frills but a great place to grab some grub and some soju/beer if you should desire. The food is is no frills. Stick to the Korean bbq or more traditional foods and you won't be disappointed. I am not usually a big galbi tang girly but WOW, I wish the portion was bigger because it was delicious! The recent visit, they were PACKED! Yet servers did an excellent job letting people know that they would have to wait. A little slower but it was a full house so don't come starving because it'll be torture seeing everyone enjoying their meals while you're waiting for yours. Love the nengmyun here and my family loves the galbi (marinated short-ribs). Galbi has become quite pricey anywhere you go but they have thicker cuts of meat than other kbbq places in the area. In my experience, service can be very good or not so good. Definitely the best nengmyun I've had in the DMV.. will be back to try the stews next time. read more

I had a couple friends recommend this spot. I was really glad they did. So you can get the La Galbi here for $25 Or Or Or you can get the La Galbi + really good Naengmyun for 27!! I also had the kimchi pancake and got to try the bean paste stew. Kimchi pancake was dense, crispy, and full of veggies. Bean paste stew was solid. 6/22/23 Horrible service and uncomfortable experience. Short summary: Employees rushing customer to leave early. Employees left 9:30pm when the store closed hour is 10pm (Screenshot of restaurant closed. Taken 9:45pm ) Here is more detailed version: So my friends and I (total of 4) came to restaurant around 8:30pm knowing that it closes at 10pm. We were middle of eating and talking but the waitress came to our table to give in the middle of eating when it was only around 9pm. Considering it was only been like 10-15 minute to eat the hot broth food since it takes several minutes to make the food in the kitchen. It was a slow day, so there was our table and one another table. As other party table left after the few minutes we received our check, the waitress keep asking of we signed the check when we were still middle of eating. After signing the check, our table was still eat and chilling as it was early 9pm. However, the waitress keep going back and forth noticeably near our table and pressuring us leave. It was around 9:15pm when we decided to leave. As we may figure, it is wise to eat faster and talk outside due to never-ending pressure. Around 9:30pm, our group was still talking in front of restaurant, we saw the restaurant had lights off and all the employees left 30 minutes early when the restaurant should close at 10pm. As mentioned before, I took the photo around 9:45pm as evidence that the restaurant was closed after the employee rushed us to close early. I understand it was slow day and employee was tired. However, it was very unpleasant that the employee try to rush our table to leave as they try to leave 9:30pm on the dot (as most table don't accept order before 30 minutes before closing) Yes, we were the last customer but we should not be treated uncomfortably when there was plenty of time . But it was employee's decision to close early without formal notice and rushing us instead. I truly wish this does not happen to any other customers. This was my first time trying the Korean BBQ. So I was super excited when all of us unanimously decided to try it. Caveat is that you have to order a minimum of two orders of the same meat dish to start the Korean BBQ. We were in a little bit of indecisive mood because I like pork belly and others like the beef brisket. Since I was over numbered we decided to order two beef brisket. Since the sever suggested that we order more food because two orders is not sufficient for 4 people. So we ordered chefs special stir fried squids and stir fried spicy pork with vegetables. Remember that everything you order comes with Korean sides such as kimchi, mashed potatoes, spicy turnips, garlics, jalapeño, tofu soup, egg dish , and rice. So it's plenty of food as you can see in some of my pics. The service is great! They were very fast. The restaurant is very clean as well. So once you order the bbq, the server will start the bbq setup on your table. It heats up very fast. So do not touch it. They then bring the meat and start cooking it in front of you. They also give you a small bowl with some kind of oil and dip. So once the meat is cooked you can dip it in the oil and their spicy dip and eat it. It tastes absolutely deliciously. The meat cooks pretty fast. It's a unique experience. We loved it. Spicy pork and spicy squid were delicious! Spicy pork has always been my favorite so there was no doubt that I wouldn't like it. But it was my first time trying the spicy squid. Well, it was amazing! I definitely recommend this to all the sea food lovers. Initially when they bring everything it looks intimidating but trust me we cleaned it up by the end of our meal. The beef brisket is thin strips of meat so it hardly fills up your tummy. Since I haven't been to other Korean BBQ restaurants I wouldn't be able to compare prices. But this one was a little pricy but absolutely worth it. I ordered to-go, seafood stew (해물전골). I came home and heated up to eat. And there was no seafood other than seem like leftover from the table. Majority of the content were fish guts, some squid and maybe 2 shrimps and few tofu. And yes they gave udon noodles. If I could give less I would and should, the service is the worst I've ever seen. The staff have decided to calculate how much you spend and then bully you into padding it. They were very busy and appeared to be short staffed so wait time was a little longer and they did give us a warning. Staff are very nice and friendly despite them being so busy. They were very accommodating for Vegetarians and let me get mushroom in place of the beef that comes with the nengmyun (cold noodles). As promised I ordered the budaejjigae and am updating this review, and oh was the budaejjigae delicious. It came out boiling hot and decently spicy. This is a very classic buddaejjigae with lots of hot dog slices and spam. Plenty of tofu, rice patties, and of course an abundant amount of kimchi. It's not fancy, but budaejjigae isn't supposed to be fancy. That's why it's also called army base stew or leftover stew. The broth was perfect and exactly what I was looking for...perfect for a chilly day. I'm not the type of person who always orders the same thing at restaurants but I might just order budaejjigae every time I come here. The side dishes that day were also on point. I'm keeping my rating as it is just because the budaejjigae being good doesn't change my opinion about the other dishes. This place used to be Hahmji Bahk. I guess there was a change in ownership but it doesn't look like it was so long ago. I tried the Kong-gook-soo which is a cold soy milk noodle soup and grilled mackerel. Both were delicious. Not unlike other Korean soup dishes, you are provided a small dish of salt so you can flavor it to your taste. Skip this very important step and you'll likely have a terrible experience. The mackerel on the other hand was very good. It is somewhat salty, but exactly how I like it. What I found a little disappointed in was receiving an email from my credit card saying unusual tipping activity. My bill came out a little over $100 and left 18% or so tip but charged %41 tip of $43. This means they changed my tip after I left. I hope this is an error and one-time activity. This place was great! I've always been to this plaza but never stepped in. Went with some friends, we got bulgogi, pork belly and pork spare ribs. Some dumplings as well.
