Very disappointed in this business. What I learned: do not die on a weekend or holiday, they do not answer the phone. We did not want to go there, we thought it could be done digitally in this day and age. Lots of pressure to come in even though we knew what we wanted. My favorite tidbit is when they send you the death certificates via priority mail, it has to go through Memphis then back to Phoenix then finally to Tucson. Memphis? Really? It could have been couriered across town quicker. Neptune is just as bad, took me 3 months to get a contract that was correct out of them. These businesses need more scrutiny by the state. read more

i called and asked the office if i could get in on mother's day. the lady said it will be open, a lie. someone let me in and i was appalled at the condition, tree clipping all over inside, carpet in many places need replaced, cooler vents with rust on them, unable to find the flower holder for flowers, walls all scrapped up need painted, this place is in bad shape. someone stole my dad's wallet out of the nitch, unbeleivable. read more

My wife and I purchased a niche in the columbarium several years ago. At the time, I told Trena McSwain that we were looking for a place where our pet's ashes could share a niche with ours. She told me unequivocally "Yes", and that we could put anything in our niche that we wanted as long as it all fit by the time the two of us went in. Our last pet died recently, and so I completed the wooden urn and this morning asked to put it in the niche. The same Trena McSwain told me I could not do that. Now she claims the all the ashes - human and quadraped - have to be in one, single urn. This is NOT what she said when she was trying to make a sale, and I was VERY specific at that time what our intent was and how important it was to us. I would not recommend this business as long as they have Trena McSwain on staff - she lied to my face. read more

I used their services 10+ years ago for both of my parents. Evergreen held my hand during those times... asking me the questions I didn't even know I needed to consider. Trena McSwain provided me with flawless service throughout my entire prearrangement process. Trena took the burden of the funeral and service arrangements off of my shoulders. We traveled from Pennsylvania to bury our beloved uncle. Not knowing anything about funeral arrangements in Tucson, we did not know what to expect. Evergreen Mortuary, and in particular Doug, walked us through the process every step of the way. Coming from out of town and on very short notice, Doug completely rearranged his very busy schedule to accommodate us. Doug was so compassionate, kind, caring and just treated us so well. We'll let me just say this cemetery is a big welcome to corporate America. When did it become u reasonable to bury someone and then to get pressured into buying all this different accessories, headstone, urn, bench, flower holder, etc. My family and I walked in to purchase the grave marker for our family member and we were incredibly surprised at their prices and their tactics. They wanted 3000-6000 for a grave marker. This wasn't including the installation mind you. We spoke about it and declined and then mentioned the prices were too high that we can get the market elsewhere cheaper. We'll that's when the scare tactics came into play. Most of them other makers won't meet our specifics and they won't submit the correct forms, so you'll be wasting your money and time if you don't buy from us. So we declined and stood up to leave, you can tell from the look and body language of the upseller that she was not pleased that she couldn't close us. We'll little did she know we did research and found multiple granite and places in Tucson that provide the grave marker for 80% less than EverGreen. So we purchased it and they informed us they treated us with the compassion and respect needed. One thing is for sure, I will never purchase anything from evergreen. They don't care two poops about you or your family. I give the a F- for customer service, and communication. What a rip off of a place, save yourself some time and don't buy here. You'll thank yourself later for avoiding this horrible place, that likes to kick you when your down. Damn vultures read more

The people or corporation that own/operate this cemetery should be ashamed of themselves. There are some sections where the grass has obviously been thoroughly watered and others that seem to have not seen water in years. Many gravestones are overgrown and unkempt. I realize maintaining this is a huge job, but it's obviously being regularly mowed, so maybe some attention could also be paid to at least keeping the headstones visible. There are no section markers, so if you're looking for a grave in a particular section, you have no choice but to aimlessly wander the entire cemetery to try to find the grave. It's like one big unlabeled, unorganized filing cabinet. An employee who kept filing cabinets this unorganized would be fired. This place holds the remains of people's loved ones, so it seems that the same standard should apply. Worst managed cemetery I have ever experienced. It's a disgrace. read more

Terrible homeless population living in the cemetery. I went to visit my family member and there were homeless people living on the area where my family member was. I traveled from Los Angeles to visit and this is what I was greeted with. Cemetery staff didn't care about my complaint and when I received a call from management they told me to call the police myself and offered no help. Absolutely terrible customer service and no care for my loved one. Do not use this cemetery. read more

I was devastated when I went to visit my family in the columbarium this last weekend. We had sentimental items sitting at the end of the table on a small bandana for my family. They threw them away in the trash. They threw everything away in the building. I understand cleaning out dead flowers, dead balloons and old plastic flowers, but not figurines and other items that were clearly not junk/trash. When we visited in December there was no sign, and If there was, it was not big enough to be seen. There should have been signs plastered all over the cemetery including the columbarium. Some things on that table had been there for years. These items we left for my family were very special and they were tossed out in the garbage. We called the office and were told after several attempts to find out if they had kept items, that a new regional/general manager has come in, and he is cracking down on the clean up. My family's items were not trash and didn't need to be cleaned up. (Personalized grandma mug with little green plant, grandma coaster, mini slot machine, little pink bird, mother plaque, plastic Christmas Tree with decorations, bandanas and angel figurine (this figurine was on the table since my grandma passed in 2010). Please when you decide to clean out sentimental items, please put your signs all over the cemetery, and months and months in advance!!! read more

I was very disappointed in the services we received from Evergreen Mortuary Cemetery and Crematory. I went with my mother about 10 years ago and did pre-arrangements for what was to happen at my mother's passing. We did a contract and made payment that called for her cremation and having her ashes sent to another state for interment. Approximately two months before she passed I had contacted them as she was moving to a facility where they wanted to know what her arrangements were. At that point they assured me everything was all set. When my mother passed, they did pick her remains up right away, but then said they had no contract/couldn't find a contract. Needless to say this was quite upsetting, since I knew there was a contract and had seen it when we moved her and placed it in a file at her former home. After 4 days, of them not being able to find the contract, I had to send a friend over to the house to get the paperwork and take to them. I live over 2000 miles away. After they got the paperwork, they finally cremated her 10 days later. They were suppose to ship her ashes. Three weeks later the funeral home where they were suppose to go had not received them. Evergreen finally located them in a closet and they were sent. This was very trying for our family and caused us a lot of stress. read more

Let me start by saying, it is never a pleasure to leave a review of a Mortuary because of obvious reasons. The visit to a Mortuary and the arrangement of planning the final resting place for your loved ones is always a very solum and emotional time. Evergreen makes this sad moment very peaceful and holds you with compassion, heart, respect and the utmost professionalism while going through this journey. While meeting with the Mortuary Counsler she gave my family the time to grieve while listening and with empathy as she also shared some personal stories to give comfort. The director, Jennifer is everything and more of what you would wish for at this time; sincere, professional, kind and knowledgable. Jennifer offered me a lovely book about grieving and also followed up with me via call and sent a lovely personal card. They have amazing and beautiful ways to honor and commentate your loved ones from finger print necklaces, beautiful urns, small keepsakes. At no time did I ever feel the pressure of sales only direction and help finding what was appropriate for me and my families wish's and budget. Beyond that, the ground are really beautiful and peaceful. The end chapter of a life is always heart wrenching and having people to help you with the details while you are grieving that you feel are guided by love and purpose to make this as comfortable for your family is priceless. My brother in Tucson passed away in mid January with no family in the area or plans after his passing. I live in CA and went there to not only grieve but begin the process of settling his affairs. I contacted several mortuaries in the area about cremation, not knowing any and shamefully used cost consideration as the main objective since my brother was not a rich man. I spoke with Peter Callaghan at Evergreen, who at first quoted a higher price than the others. I just had a gut feeling from how he walked me through their process that he was who I needed to do business with. I called him back later to mention the lesser quotes and he agreed to match it. We met with him later that day and was greeted by the most upbeat receptionist (I wish I had written her name down) who though empathetic to our situation made my wife and me very comfortable and like family. We met with Peter who explained the process thoroughly and he even agreed to a conference call with members of the family who were located in other states to be sure my decisions worked for them, including one potential legal matter. He didn't give legal advice but his questions and comments made us step back to think and address. He knows what needs to be done. I very much appreciated that. We have kept in touch by email since my return to CA. He and the staff (Ashley) kept me up to date on cremation plans and his remains delivered to me. No one ever wants to use a mortuary but if you have to I would highly recommend Evergreen. They treated my family with so much respect and all of our requests were granted. After 90 years and a full life, my father passed away in December 2014. Peter Callaghan went above and beyond to treat my father with great respect while coordinating the transfer of his body to Arlington National Cemetery. My father, a retired Lt. Colonel in the USAF was prepared by Peter and dressed in his Air Force Uniform. Upon viewing my Dad prior to his transfer to Arlington, I was amazed at how good he looked thanks to Peter's work.
