Cold and unprofessional. Want not even the basics at premium pricing? Perfect place, no empathy just looking out for the dollar

I would be embarrassed if I were South lawn cemetery. It's been the same for years. Apparently,…read moreonce they get your money, they suddenly lose interest in upkeep of the plots. My wife and I went there yesterday to put Christmas decorations on her sister's site. We had a tough time finding it because it was overgrown by Bermuda grass and weeds. We cut the grass and weeds away so you could see her marker. In addition (same as last year and every year before) you had better have thick shoes or the goat-head stickers will make life VERY uncomfortable for you. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! (as they say in TV ads). It's amazing that someone hasn't been injured, trying to walk on the sidewalk in area 9 (couldn't really tell if it said area 8 or area 9 on the curb). I have photos of the sidewalk. I didn't bother to get pictures of the squirrel holes next to the sidewalk. It's the same ones that I took pictures of last year. My wife and I and my daughter and her husband have niches at their sister cemetery on Grant Rd. My wife's parents are already in a niche there. The difference between the two cemeteries is like night and day. I had already paid off our niche a while back, but upgraded to a different one a few months back. I showed the pictures to our rep. Obviously she had to be diplomatic about her response, but you could tell that it was obvious neglect. How difficult would it be to take the two sections of sidewalk that go up and down and replace them? Bags of concrete are only about $5.00 per bag. It would probably take 5 bags at tops. It's cheaper than someone getting hurt.

My mother purchased a pre-paid cremation plan. Her death was unexpected to the family. Ms…read more Gonzalez was very gentle with my husband and I. I raised my voice over $20 for a fee for an additional death certificate, which I thought was paid for. But I wasn't really mad about the $20; I was mad about my mother dying. Ms. Gonzalez understood and gently guided me in the right direction. Ms. Gonzalez was easy to relate to and was comforting during a difficult time. I strongly recommend South Lawn.

My tech savvy siblings and friends were able to figure it out in the reception room. They were supposed to be honor Guard there to fold the flag given my father's veteran status. No show! They were paid upfront for original cremation charges. The additional charges for use of the sanctuary and reception room were paid via check from my parents' account. As the executor of the estate, I created electronic access. The bank shut the account down as a fraud precaution which was cleared up in a day. The check to Brings did not clear and was made aware of that the day before I am writing this note. I called them, they said they understood. Today I told them that I would have someone bring another check over. That said, the answer was nope! I gave them an option, I'll give you a credit card, or you take check. If you don't take a check, and opt for credit card, I'll write a review. As a family of reasonable wealth, I was insulted. Don't work with Joesph, the Funeral home director, I put this squarely on his shoulders. These people were unprepared to serve us in the best manner possible. Unfortunately, we are regular customers from back in the 1970's. Between family and extended family we have had nearly a dozen services from them. This was unacceptable and impacted our ability to celebrate my 91-year-old fathers' life. Shame on Joesph for his inattention to my family's request. No leadership!

I'm deeply disappointed on how the whole process with Tammie (Martinez funeral home) went…read moreregarding my brother's funeral services. First off we went over his obituary together for over 45 minutes. Finally my brother's obituary was published, and there was quite a few errors on the spelling of names, the background picture was not what we chose at all! as well as key points that we wanted written. Unfortunately, my brother did die in custody of the Arizona prison system. The number one thing that we mentioned to Tammie was that we were in the process of getting a second autopsy. She acknowledged it. She let us know that once we get the confirmation, to let her know. She knew how important it was for our family to get this done for our brother. Our mother updated Tammie during the process of the autopsy and where we were with getting that set up. Our sister wanted to see our brother and have some alone time with him for a few minutes once he was transported from maricopa to the funeral home in Tucson. We were advised that she would have to set up an appointment for identification, which costed $300. We were never told the process and what the identification consists of. My sister went ahead and set up the appointment at that time. I chose to go with her and our mother. While they were visiting my brother I sat with another colleague of Tammie's to get my brother's obituary corrected. The lady that helped me was very nice and showed empathy and compassion for what we were going through and corrected the errors. While we were there, I asked the front staff if they are able to transport my brother from the funeral home to the airport for the second autopsy. The front staff said yes we can set that up for you guys. A couple days later, we were informed by the personnel who is going to get the autopsy done that they no longer can move forward with us because body has been embalmed. My mother was devastated by this news, given the circumstances of my brother's death. The funeral home was well aware that this was not supposed to get done due to the second autopsy and that we were in the process of setting it up. My mom brought this to Tammie's attention and instead of taking accountability, she blamed my mother and my sister for wanting to do the identification because that is the moment that they embalmed my brother. My mom and my sister were never told the process or the identification, and also were not warned that if they did the identification that my brother would have to be embalmed and because we want a second autopsy that, that would hinder that from being possible to be performed. As they are the professionals and the ones who would know these details. We are a grieving and very stressed family trying to come up with the finances for my brother services, and there was a huge lack of communication and transparency from this funeral home. The day of the services there was no organization. Our sister had to Bluetooth her phone on YouTube to get the music going.. USB cord that was gonna go from my mom's laptop to the television didn't work. Therefore she couldn't do her presentation as she planned. Prior to a setting up the services at Martinez funeral home I was told by some people that they were decent and I was also warned by others to not do our services there. We didn't listen but now we know. If you choose to do business with this funeral home just make sure you are monitoring everything, double check for errors and make sure you ask plenty of questions because you will not be explained anything.
