This is a nice venue and a charming chapel area. It's a little out of the way. However, the staff could be a lot more helpful. I will give you a example we had lunch here directly after it was catered here. We also brought our own drinks. We had ice chest and 2 elderly people didn't want to hold cold can. So, I went up to the coffee after they have and took 2 cups. The guy looked at me like I just stole his car keys. When I brought disposable cups to elderly, the mother of deceased ask for a cup as well. I went back and the guy took the cups and put them up. I had to go find him to get cup. He acted pissy and said these cups are not for buffet use. It enough I wouldn't use this place if one of my people passes. read more

Adair funeral homes is in desperate need of empathy training. My parents pre arranged their services. My mother passed a year and a half ago. My father passed in December. I received a call from Adair shortly after. They asked me if it was mother or father who had passed, and then said, "So sorry for the loss of Jerry". My father's name was James or Jim. I don't understand how they didn't confirm the name before they called me. I was questioning whether they had the right person. We scheduled an appointment for 8:30 the next Monday morning. I arrived and the door was locked. I was questioning whether I had the right time and place. Finally after knocking on the door to no response, I called. The call was answered by someone at a different location, and they said they would try to contact the people who I had an appointment with. Finally I saw someone inside and knocked again, and they opened the door. I said something to Bethany about the numerous mistakes, and in their industry , dealing with people who are grieving, they needed to not make these types of mistakes. She gave excuses, "It is first thing on a Monday morning" and "Our answering service got the name wrong." Really all I needed was a sincere apology and promise to use my feedback to do better. They told me the ashes and death certificates would be ready in two weeks. I didn't hear anything from them, and thought that maybe with COVID and the holidays, things were taking longer. Finally, after three weeks I called to check. Bethany said that she was out of the office the week before and someone else should have called, but didn't. Because if their limited hours (9-4 Monday through Friday) and a very busy week already scheduled with meetings, I asked if they could mail the death certificates. They said I had to talk to someone else. I spoke with Taylor, who was pretty resistant to doing that, even though I explained to him all of the previous mistakes they had made. He also made excuses for the mistakes, rather than owning up to them and apologizing. read more

They forgot to order my dad's death certificates which held up settling his affairs. Very disappointing, and we lost thousands of dollars by not being able to take care of things in a timely manner. read more

Adair Avalon Chapel was there for us when we needed them. From the minute we contacted them, they were on top of everything. We worked with Tyler Parker, who was very kind, warm and professional. He spent as much time with us as we needed and kept us informed by both phone and email. He handled every detail, including out of state obituaries. He was there to greet people at the door when they arrived. The building is older, but very clean and well maintained. Lots of parking. We have used Adair Funeral Home when my Father passed away in 1991 and again in 2018 for the cremation of Mother. We have a very high opinion of staff at Adair, especially Taylor Adair who was extremely efficient, professional and understanding. Taylor provided feedback and kept in touch with us every step of the way. What I appreciate the most is the speed in which things were handled...it was not a long drawn out ordeal with lots of red tape. It was quick and that is exactly what we wanted. They took care of making all of the necessary appointments needed for the viewing, mass, funeral and burial and things we never thought of. Adair family homes is owned by such an amazing family! When I lost my mother in September I reached out to Taylor at the dodge location and he was phenomenal. He had compassion and empathy and made everything so much easier. To the point when I lost my nephew unexpectedly last month he was the first person I was looking for. We had the service at the Avalon location and it was beautiful. Both Taylor and his staff have been more than accommodating and empathetic to my family and I will forever appreciate them for it. I hope that no one needs to use his services unexpectedly but in the event you do, there could not be a family or locations more willing to make this as easy and painless as possible for you. We used them first for dad's passing in 2013, and then used their services the past two weeks for the passing of mom (early Sept 2018). Hillary Adair went above and beyond to aid my family in getting my mother's cremains processed in an expeditious manner.
