I went with my friend to get a spray tan, and the way she was treated by the staff member made me not even end up getting a spray tan! I believe her name was Makenna or Makenzie, something along the lines of that. She was incredibly rude for no apparent reason, had horrible customer service and overall just made us feel uncomfortable. Please do better! read more

Again an absolute terrible experience. I'm billed for the whole month regardless, came by one time in the month for a tan and the workers cut out early closed up before the advertised time. I came in to join as I had just returned from a month in Australia and didn't want to lose my tan to soon. When I looked up there website there was a 7 day trial and I thought that would be a fantastic way to see if anything had changed since the last time I had joined in 2013. They promptly told me because I had previously been a customer that I would not be able to have a trail. I thought that they would then go over prices or offer a membership but they just stood there and I felt that I was being dismissed and expected to leave and so I did. It seems that it really has changed from the last time I was a membership, unfortunately. Also when I came in they where both vacuuming and didn't hear me come in, they finally noticed me after a couple of minutes. I have been using the tanning beds here for a few months now, and have been developing these spots I've never had before. Upon research I read that this is a SKIN FUNGUS due to uncleanliness of tanning beds. I now have to go to a dermatologist and get topical medication. And even so, I went in to cancel my Sun membership and try Spray instead because of what happened. Not only would they NOT refund this months Sun membership (which I can't use) and also charge me for the spray on top of it, they also wanted me to pay 79$ sign up fee?! I would be very careful when using coupons or specials with this location. I feel very deceived after using their 7 day free trial. The fine print on the special states that you should cancel your trial within 7 days in writing. It doesn't say anything about physically coming into the store or to cancel in writing "before 4:30 pm on a Friday." Very sneaky business practice to have the coupon they offered say one thing and the agreement say another. It makes zero sense and it's deceitful. And even though I've shown proof that I cancelled within my 7 days and did it in writing, they still get to keep $87 for a service I won't be using. If this was an honest company, they would have done the right thing and issued a refund. But no matter how much I send over as proof that I did exactly what I was suppose to do, I'm still considered wrong to them. How very sad. read more

Every single time I've been to this location, I am greeted with the biggest smile and friendliest attitude. Today is Christmas Eve and all I could think walking in to get a spray tan was "I feel bad for anyone that has to work today, they should be with their family" but that wasn't Joeys attitude. He is SO welcoming, sweet, informative and honestly just had the best attitude. Never pushy when it comes to selling, but after my spray tan I got out and felt the need to buy something, solely because his customer service was out of this world (always is). I even called the location after I left to make sure I got his name right when writing this review. There needs to be more people like Joey in this world. This owner is obviously great as evidenced by the staff, the service, and the environment. [Side note: What's great about this franchise is that the entire system is connected. You can go to any iTAN.] When you sign up, you'll meet any of the well versed sales staff. If you're exceptionally lucky, you'll meet Reed..who is probably the most well versed, most helpful saleswoman ever. This iTAN is clean, the beds are we maintained. They have a variety of options. Avery and Joey are my favorite people here!! Joey helped me set up my membership he was very thorough and helpful with the questions I had. Every-time I come in Joey and Avery (when they are working) are so nice, they greet you instantly, they are high energy and have great customer service skills! I'm always bummed when I go in and the newer girls are working they aren't as pleasant. I also only use the tanning beds here. It's a small location and they don't have all the beds or spa services other locations have, but it's close to home which makes it convenient. read more

I went here last week to get a base tan before a vacation and after going 3 times, twice in the #4 bed and once in the #3 bed, I had little to no color. I even asked the employees when I purchased my package, which bed I should use for a base tan and they said #4. After getting zero color another person said #3 would work better and I still had no color. I've used tanning beds before and I tan very easy. This isn't normal for me. Today, I went to the Mission Valley location and used the #3 bed and got great results. I think the other location's beds don't work. They need an upgrade. read more

Today was my first visit at Itan. My experience was wonderful. The assistant manager went over all my options thoroughly. The salon is very clean and the staff is very professional. I look forward to doing business in the future. I have a light case of psoriasis and the UVB light helps get rid of them on my legs. It was very comforting to have a young girl behind the counter know all about psoriasis and how UVB helps with the outbreak. I like to mention I am totally against Sunbeds due to the cancer rate but in my case I go in for a few minutes for the psoriasis. Itan la Costa is wonderful. I have been going to get a spray tan for years and have never been dissatisfied. At first I was hesitant to spray at all because I did not want to turn orange. We have all seen those before! But, thankfully Brittany and Jordan took the time and really went through all the steps of what to do to during my spray so that it would be perfect. It is so easy for me now thanks to them and my tan looks so real! The room had everything I needed. Hair ties and even a cap to protect it. I had wipes for my hands and feet. I love iTan. I've had an account here for about 3 years now and it's the only place I tan. The staff has always been really friendly with me, and surprisingly remembered me and greeted me by name on only my 2nd visit. It makes it nice to know you're not just another body shuffling through, they actually make it a point to get to know you. The beds and rooms are always very clean & in working order (only once did I go in and the level 4 bed was out of service). They have about 5 tanning rooms plus the spray booth so you can always choose what level you're going for. The location itself is a little bit small so if it's a busy day after work, you may have to wait a little while for your bed to be available, but there are magazines and products to browse while you wait. They have a wide range of package deals, specials that sometimes include tans & lotions, or pay per tan- however you want to do it. I buy the Points packages because they don't expire and I can use them toward whatever tanning bed or spray tan that I want to use that day. The points may seem expensive at first because you're buying them in bulk, but they do last quite a while if you're an occasional tanner. The salon is located in the strip mall next door to where the Crazy Burro restaurant used to be (forgot what it's called now), across the street from Tuscanny & the Vons shopping center on the corner of El Camino Real & Alga. Free tan for yelp check-in! I don't normally do any kind of tanning, but I had a wedding to attend living on the east coast has taken away the natural glow you get from living in SoCal. I couldn't say no to free either! I did the Mystic tan. It was completely electronically automated and really easy to use with directions broadcasted step by step from the machine. It was a little weird and cold/surprising when the spray shot out at my white naked body lol. It kind of tickled a little bit. I was surprised how simple and non-awkward it was. The girl at the counter looked like she used a few too many of their services but otherwise she was exceptionally sweet, friendly and helpful. She didn't make it awkward that I was getting the free tan & still treated me like a full price customer. The room was clean and had a towel, q tips and everything else you would need or want in this situation. The provide you with a lotion that you put on your hands, feet, knees and toes to prevent those areas from absorbing too much color and looking orange or overly dark. My tan was even, not too dark or orange and lasted a little over a week. :) I did it 4 days before the wedding and a friend commented "Did you just get back from vacation?" "No, why?" "You have a really nice tan!" "oo thanks :D Its fake. lol" "Really?! It looks really good and not fake at all!" :) All around quick, simple, easy and enjoyable experience. I would do it again and pay full price if I had another major event to attend. read more

Reed was working and me not being a seasoned tanner explained it everything to me and the different lotions. Always a wait, staff has an attitude. If you want to be greeted with a smile go during the middle of the day. The first time I came to this location the general manager was here and she was a doll. The guy working with her way also kind. Of course they were trying to make the sale, but they at least pretended to be nice. I was able to use the top level bed. It was nice. Every time I have been back since I've been greeted (or not actually) with a be with you. Not a simple hello or welcome, just a hold on. Besides the lack of customer service from the hourly employees, I don't even get the service I am paying for. Besides my first time at the site, I have always had to wait at least 20minutes for a bed, and not even the beds I have the upgraded package for. I asked if I could make a reservation for the bed then since the top two never seem to be available, but that's not an option. The only other option I can think of is to add another two high level beds or increase your store hours. For people with jobs it is impossible to get the use of our membership when they are only open until 9am and don't open until 9am. Please change your hours or be honest with people who sign up that the high level beds will not be available after work hours unless they are purely lucky. The actual tanning bed that is the highest level works nice, the bed right below that is ok. Buy the rest are like laying in the sun with baby oil on and just turn you red. I would never elect to use those but they are the only ones available outside of normal 8-5 work hours. I can say for $99 a month I would never recommend this tanning salon. The last time I went in I stood at the counter for ten minutes after being greeted by an inconveniences "hold on." The poor girl was clearly more concerned about the person signing up for the new account than anything else. She needs extra help if she can't greet customers, clean beds, and get new clients signed up without there being a ten minute wait just to check in. read more

Just came here for the first time and a guy I've never met before greeted me with a fake "Hi, good to see you again, remind me of your name?". After doing Mystic and Versa for many years with no issues, I decided to try their new VersaPro machine to go out for my birthday the following day. I was excited to wake up and see the outcome the next day but very disappointed when I noticed the back of my legs weren't tan. I called my friend who I knew also recently used the new VersaPro there and she told me the same thing happened to her and the store acted like it was the first time. She even said the girl in line behind her had a similar issue and did nothing to make it up to her except offer her to pay an additional $5.99 for an extra leg spray the next time she came in, what!? It sounds like staff is being dishonest with their customers and are well aware this is an issue. I would rather drive further to my old salon with the working Versa machine. read more

I have had nothing but great experiences with this location! One time I left my lotion and didn't even know, the next time I came in they pulled it out and said you left this :). Awesome customer service, clean location, and up with current tanning options. The girls here are great! They help me decide which tanning plan is right for me depending on my goal. Help me to figure out versa vs mystic and if I wanna double dip. If there is ever a wait, the girls always apologize and make sure to tell me approximately how long. Very knowledgeable staff. Great advice. They're never pushy or rude or rush you out and they're cautious and honest about their beds and avoid your skin from being overexposed while still giving you a game plan on achieving a very quick tan without burning. Every time I go to an iTan, I tell myself that I'm going to go home and write a Yelp review because I'm always so amazed how great the girls are that work there. The La Costa iTan was no exception. The employees were authentically kind and took time to explain my options. I'm in my mid-40s, probably not your most common tanning customer, and there were other women older than me there, as well as a middle-aged man, and I watched the girls be friendly and helpful to each and every one of them. One of the days I went in was a busy one for them and they handled the line with ease, getting each of us in for our treatments quickly. I also love that tanning packages are easily used at any iTan branch, as they track everything in a shared database. While I don't go often -- usually just before a trip or special event for a Mystic spray -- I am a happy client each and every time I do. read more
