This would be the perfect coffee shop if they just served a simple soup. So many times I pass it by because I have to get some real food (usually I'm on the verge of fainting.) In general, the whole city seems to be suffering from a soup famine of some kind, and i don't really get it because some soups are very inexpensive to make and they do keep. However, there are probably city regulations governing soup storage and dispensing, and other minutiae that I know nothing of, that render a simple crock pot impractical. But since Everybody's Coffee makes no claims to a soupery, I won't deduct a single star from their fabulousness for this unreasonable whim of mine. That said, I totally understand: they want to focus on what they do best: coffee and delicious fresh baked goods. I've had their pie, rice crispy treats, and very yummy cream-cheese frosted cinnamon rolls, and I can report they are all very good, very simple, and very fresh. You can tell they were baked with some love. I always enjoy checking out the original art on the walls, love that they support local artists. Some posters have noted the vibe, which they describe as either relaxing or silent and stifling. Funny thing about sit-down coffee shops: depending on who is in there at the moment and what they happen to be doing (book clubs, office work, studying or visiting) the vibe can vary a great deal. That's why I go in places like this, check it out, and if the vibe doesn't suit, I order a cuppa joe and go. Same as bars, basically. I've been in here and it's been very very silent, with everyone gazing intently into their computers as though the secrets of the universe were written there, and then on my latest trip this Saturday, everyone was so relaxed and the crowd was very mixed. It was nice for relaxing and chatting, while some people were working. Very good fresh roasted coffee. The quality and freshness of the coffee matters most to me, as I don't order specialty drinks. I have witnessed others enjoying them, though, and can testify to their apparent delight. I've had the tea, too, and I enjoyed it though I'm really not a tea person. They had some cool ceramic salt shakers for sale when i was there. Lots of nice, thoughtful touches. I love the mason jars for water and also the silverware, which is an eclectic mix but high quality and a pleasure to use. The seating is comfortable and nicely varied, as some have noted. They host events and do a movie night, which I plan on checking out soon. read more

I went out to cheer on some runners in the cold. While I was out there I knew finding a place to warmup was just what I needed. A friend suggested we stop here for just that. It was close and I had never been, clearly I was in. We walked over and never would have guessed this joint existed. It was very cute and the staff was extremely welcoming. I ordered a hot chocolate, very rich and delicious. Although now I really wish I'd ordered a coffee. Looks like someone is going to have to go back! We also got a cinnamon roll to share. Holy yumsville! So so good. In fact we were talking about the amazingness of the cinnamon rolls for at least an hour after we left. read more

Great to see a bean shop that truly cares about customers and more importantly--their coffee. EC takes it everybody's coffee serious and it shows in the flavor. So much better than Dollop and Peets and a quatum leap above Starbucks. If you're near, it's worth a go. This shop is nicely tucked on Wilson and close enough to grab a drink before making your way toward the Lake. read more

Very disappointed in the customer service from the cashier today. The door was open so I walked in and she told me "we actually don't open for another 10 minutes" so I asked if I could wait and she said "uhh...sure...." as if that was an imposition. So I sat down a few tables away to be sure I didn't crowd her and started reading the news. At 7am I heard someone ask her if she was ready and she said "I mean, no...?" A moment later I turned around to see if she was ready to take my order and there was a small line of people and she was starting to take their orders! Good service would have been letting me know when they were ready and taken my order first, but I felt ignored. I leaned around the line to look at her and said "you know I was waiting over there right?" And she said "yeah?" As if to say "so?" So I just left. I won't be going back, that was a bad start to the morning. read more

This was my happy place when I lived in Uptown! I'll still make the trip up even though I'm not as close any more. They take their coffee and baked goods seriously and it shows. Wish I realized earlier that they have actual like meal items sometimes as well. I've been stalking their avocado toast on instagram and can't wait to get back to try it. But beyond the awesome food and drink, the place itself is amazing. They have really interesting rotating art every month. They also host events and there are always interesting conversations to be overheard their. One year on Good Friday my husband and I wondered towards the back and the artist, who I think is also a barista?, brought us back and explained this huge art exhibit that was going on. The tables are gorgeous chunks of tree trunks with coffee beans inside. There are also board games you can grab to play and hangout. The best part is the share the love coffee board in the front where you can buy a cute little token as a gift card and leave it hanging there for a friend or stranger to find :) read more

This place is awesome; my favorite coffee shop in Chicago. Lots of seating and great coffee - I go here with a book to read or with a friend for a quiet conversation. Despite the location in Uptown (next to Weiss Memorial Hospital ), once you go inside the coffee shop, it transforms you to a hipster coffee bar ...but with more lighting. Got the Mayan Mocha, and it's got a kick to it (has cayenne pepper). They also have something called "The Vader" that has Mexican Coke, vanilla, and expresso. Sounds intriguing and Wii definitely try to next time. Plenty of street parking around here (paid). Will definitely return if I want a good space to read or get work done. read more

Get the Mocha Maya...it's great hot or cold. The people are incredibly friendly and the drinks have been made exactly right each time. I love the fact that I can get their punch card and when it's full I can donate it for someone who needs a drink. It's fairly industrial if you're looking for the 'comfortable place to take your laptop, drink coffee and camp out,' but that's not what this place is for. The rotating collections of local artwork make the place a great spot in uptown. read more

Apple turnover is delectable-buttery, indulgent, and generously filled with apple sauce-like goodness. I would give five stars but it's over $4 in price. So if you're feeling extravagant, it's a great dessert. read more

Everybody's Coffee is a neat coffee shop that offers everything from cappuccinos to cold brews. This place also has a few different food items available, including delicious avocado toast and bagels. It can get quite crowded in here, so the line might take a while. It's more of a place you come to if you're planning on hanging out for a while, maybe reading a book or studying at one of the unique wooden tables. Four stars because it's a bit pricey and it can be difficult to find a place to sit. It'd be nice if they added a few more tables because there is some unused space closer to the restrooms! read more

pretty good! the prices for the baked goods/ food are very reasonable, although the nutella croissant wasn't the best i've ever had (wish it was a little more flaky/ heated up) but really really liked the mocha maya! was perfect mix of creamy, smooth, sweet, spice and richness :) and didn't give me the jitters! would get again! read more

I love this place but what really won me over are the beautiful photos on the walls near the bathroom. And also the fact that you can buy coffees for other people (who may need a pick me up but can't afford) and leave them a love note. That's what coffee is all about really. Love. They have some amazing pastries that I try not to eat every time I go in there (and fail). I'm a frequent victim of the scones...get one if you can! This place is great! Great coffee and atmosphere. They even have a church service that I attended while I was in the area visiting a friend.

I had a great experience here. The barista was very attentive and when I pulled out my own cup after I'd paid, they told me they usually give a bring-your-own mug discount, and since mine was also slightly smaller than the size I'd paid for, they offered me a token for a free coffee in my next visit. There was a pretty nice selection of pastries, even late in the day, and the coldbrew and lemon pound cake I purchased were both pretty good. The space is quite large, with plenty of seating. When I visited, all the tables had little flower bouquets, and there was an art exhibit consisting of a series of self portraits by students from Uplift High School. There is also a great selection of games to choose from, if you happen to come with friends! Definitely will return. read more

Awesome neighborhood gem, great service, music and art. The tip jar is currently being used for donations to Puerto Rico which having all my family there and seeing that a local business is assisting in relief efforts is very moving for me. They have a cool share the coffee board where you can gift a coffee to anyone having a bad day, a teacher, nurse, specific person etc. I had the cheddar, egg and bacon bagel which was delicious and so big I was full on half of it. The hot chocolate was definitely amazing. We will surely be back soon! read more

I rarely drink coffee, but I went a couple of times when I was in Chicago with some friends. I had been there when it was the smaller shop across the street in the citizen skate shop a few years ago. I had the mocha maya. Please, please, please, try this drink. It's chocolatey but not super sweet, the spice from the cayenne compliments and enhances the coffee flavor without being overwhelming thanks to the creamy topping. Aside from a fantastic cup of coffee I sampled several of the in house pastries both times I was there. Between my girlfriend and I we had a chocolate chip cookie, a star shaped jam cookie, a Russian tea cake, a chocolate croissant, an almond croissant and a taste of the Sunday special (a moist semi-sweet hazelnut cake topped with powdered sugar and accompanied by a lovely jam). Every bite was perfect. The atmosphere was simple but awesome. The high top bar tables were whole split logs covered in resin. For a nice touch the cracks in the wood were filled with beans before the resin was poured. There were games to play and interesting art on the walls. Very comfy and relaxing. It's a great place to hang out. The final touch, the staff were cheerful and inviting. Smiles (real ones even) on everyone's faces. This might have been the best coffee shop experience this guy, who's not into coffee, has ever had. read more

Great coffee, super friendly people, really tasty (and inexpensive!) treats! A VERY welcome addition to the Uptown neighborhood which has been sadly lacking a great coffee shop for a long time. The space is really huge, eclectic and interesting - they mentioned live music at some point and I'll be excited to see what happens here. My only complaint is that with them being 2 blocks from my door, it's going to be hard to resist stopping here on the way to and from work twice a day. read more

I live in uptown and usually go to Starbucks or Dollop to work on Saturdays. This Saturday I decided to look around, opened google maps and noticed that there is a coffee shop right next door! I called them up to ask if they have wifi and they said they did and also they had an art fair going on! So, I packed my stuff and went there. Usually, when I try a new place I order straight black coffee, which I did over here as well. I ordered a cup of Costa Rican coffee and it was great! Rich and flavorful! I will definitely try lattes and hot chocolate now. I admire these guys, they opened up a great place in the middle of Wilson and they are providing you with quality stuff too! I absolutely recommend this place! There was one more surprise there, aside from an art fair (which was pretty awesome) they had some play going on. I'll check it out next time. EC has tons of seating room, and fun board games to play! Lots of outlets so its a nice place to get work done.
