I kind of wish I was there right now. The atmosphere is great and most of the staff are super friendly and informative. Unfortunately, it's next to a homeless shelter (or something of the sort) so sometimes you get people who come in and lurk around and make everything a bit uncomfortable. When I was there, they were quite loud and simply loitering. There was also a guy in there once who was calling his various mail-order-bride-to-bes and talking about how America is crazy because women want to be equal to men. That was hard to not respond to. FILTER COFFEE NOT PEOPLE. This fantastic coffee shop is located in Uptown, close to Wilson and Sheridan. They are nothing short of a boon to this up and coming place in the city. From participating in local events like the Argyle Street Market to a friendly smile when you walk in the door they're top notch. Their coffee tastes delicious and you can tell how much care they put into it. My personal favorite is their Thai iced coffee which is the right amount of coffee and sweetness. It is so refreshing for a summer walk. They partner up with Baker Miller for daily baked goods which are a nice side to any coffee experience. Everybody's coffee did not disappoint. Now it's my coffee too! I didn't know what to try at first and decided upon the breakfast sandwich. It was on a biscuit so soft and buttery that I almost forgot about the rest of the sandwich ingredients. The rest, an egg, sausage and on the side I believe kale. I also ordered a separate biscuit, so glad I did, and had the best natural jam I had in a long time. I basically almost choked because everything from everybody's coffee was that good. Perfect walk after church in the area. It was pleasant as there were a few open seating for the outdoor front of the coffeehouse seating. The only reason I am not giving this a 5-star rating is the lack of supplies. I asked for the avocado toast, "it was a busy busy morning, we are out of that"...then I asked for chai...same answer. I have waited to write this review because I was told a manager would reach out and they haven't. The latest incident occurred this past Saturday . First, I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. They are incapable of fulfilling simple orders. Management clearly does not care because this has been going on for months. My orders have progressed to being as simple as possible. I was determined to give this restaurant a fair chance. My first order was for my coworker's who just wanted bagels and drinks. The order was 3 plain bagels, juice, and coffee. As the food was being prepared by the barista, the toaster burns a bagel they show the cashier. Not a big deal. However, once I returned to the office and began passing out bagels. We were given two plain bagels, a half of a plain bagel (bottom) and half of a wheat bagel (bottom). The restaurant was called and they said they would give us a "new" bagel.....As this point my coworkers refuse to do any further business with this place (which was very smart)! My next two orders were placed by app. I simplified each order because I continued to not receive the correct products. My fourth order was for three bagels. When I picked up the order I opened it in the store to check for the correct products. One of the bagels has large growths of mold all over (impossible to miss). I request a manager and showed them the bagel. I asked if the other bagels came from the same place/bag as the mold one. I was told by the cashier they were fine. It wasn't until I verbally asked for bagels in a fresher bag, that I was given a new set of bagels. Management reached out. Apologizing and issuing a gift card and was reassured this would not happen again. Saturday, I had a friend visiting who loves bagels. Being an idiot I placed an order with Everybody's Coffee. My order was two plain bagels and a juice. When we open our order it was two sesame seed bagels, which of course was a food my friend had a sensitivity too. I returned the bagels and requested my money back. I was told a manger would reach out. They haven't. Please do not do business here. They clearly do not care about their customers and have not intent to change that. read more

My experience with Everybody's Coffee is limited to an evening event at Wilson Abbey, for which the coffee shop stayed open late. The space was clean and well-lit, the hot chocolate was solid, and the woman working the counter was pleasant enough. She explained the "pay it forward" tag system by the door, which I thought was nice. This place is an oasis amongst a street of fast food chains (McDonald's, Sonic, and Dunkin Donuts are within steps of here). I'm not a coffee drinker, so the "coffee" part of Everybody's Coffee is something I have not experienced, but this is the spot for fresh sandwiches in the neighborhood. Unfortunately for me, only three sandwiches are offered - a caprese, a roast beef sandwich, and a turkey bagel sandwich. I usually opt for the turkey bagel sandwich because it comes with their house made pesto mayonnaise, which is crazy delicious (and the best part is that the mayo comes in a separate resealable container and they give you too much for one sandwich, so you can take the rest home to use again). They offer to toast the sandwich for you but I prefer mine cold. The space itself is huge with lots of seating options, outlets, and free wifi. Great place to work if you're a student or have one of those cool jobs where you can work from anywhere. There's art all over the place. The biggest shock for me the first time I came into this place was the amount of young, hip people here (if you know the area, that's not the crowd anywhere else on the block). I'm like, where did all these people even come from? ... And then realized they must have wandered over here from Truman. I'd be here ALL THE TIME if they had more sandwich options, though I'm already there a few times a month for a quick lunch. Lovely neighborhood place in historic building with spacious seating. I really like the place, so I offer these two criticisms like a friend offers criticism to help you become better. 1. The blowing system in the place blows cold-ish air on you while you're enjoying your latte. Blowing cold air on a subzero day is unpleasant. It's like they have a big industrial HVAC system that can't be gentle. It's hard to sit here and have a long conversation or write a book when your fingers are numb. 2. The concrete floor is nice, but it along with the austere wood furniture lacks warmth. The cold concrete combined with the cold air makes Everybody's Coffee a much better summer visit than winter venue. It's still a fun place. I came here a bunch when it first opened, moved to China for two years and am now back to find the new people working here are awesome. read more

This is a great place to bring your laptop and work. There are enough outlets to find a space to plug in your phone or laptop. I often see people having meetings with co-workers or friends. The shop is very large and has a lot of tables. I've had the iced chai latte and the iced Vanilla latte. Both were good. Only con I have, is on multiple occasions some people come in and talk extremely loud. I mean like I can hear their conversation from the other side of the room with my headphones on. First off, i love the Mocha Maya! I stumbled on this place, after leaving Truman College, while looking for a TCF Bank. I figured might as well check it out; as would any other serious yelper. Got totally great service from the guy at the register, who was very outgoing. I ordered a Mocha Maya, and got the last Red Velvet donut. Never knew there was such a thing, until i came to Everybody's Coffee. Anyway, this is a great, calm study spot for anyone. Its location is right up the street from CTA Wilson, Truman College, and in that little sector across from Uptown Baptist Church. Gotten coffee twice in the past week and I have been pleasently surprised with the service and quality. I got the Thai Coffee served cold and it was sweet and delicious. I also have tried The Vader and it's a unique concept of a cold brew and Mexican Coke from a bottle. I loved both drinks. Will definitely try more of their drinks out in the future. Nice people, really good coffee. I ordered a skim latte and didn't have to order the extra two shots I get at that other place that I won't name. Tasty looking baked goods, maybe I'll get that next time. Friendly barista gave me a loyalty card for a free drink after 10, so I'll have to be back. The place is well laid out, high tops on one side, and low tables down the hall. This place is large and open, however divided up so it feels intimate. The ladies room has something like 20 stalls, definitely this space had another purpose at some time so I had to ask. It was originally a three story auto dealership and after that a roofing repair business. This explains the size and of course the restroom facilitates. They did a wonderful job with the design. If you're feeling generous ask about the pay it forward, you can buy a cup of coffee or beans as a donation. What a great concept, it does reflect the neighborhood, you have a mix of gentrification, working class and some people that just can use a good cup of joe that can't afford it, hence coffee for everyone. There's two types of coffee shops... coffee, coffee shops and ambiance coffee shops. Everybody's Coffee has a little of both, but make no mistake they are a coffee, coffee shop. When I ordered my latte, the first thing the barista asked is if I wanted dark or medium espresso. I already knew this was a win. So few coffee shops ask what type you want because chances are no matter what they serve you it's going to taste like someone burnt the beans. This latte was spot on and that's why Everybody's Coffee is a true Coffee shop. The ambiance isn't bad either. It's a nice little community gathering spot. People inside are pretty chatty so be prepared to bring your headphones if you want to study. Plenty of seating and a nice large space with good art inside as well. The coolest feature however is the share the love board. Here you can buy a cup of coffee and leave it for a friend to pick up whenever they come through or you can buy a complete stranger a cup of coffee and even aim it towards someone. One of the first things I noticed were actually the reasonable prices, especially for the desserts (my weakness). I really appreciated the humbleness of this cafe. We had a simple iced latte, which was served in a wide-mouth mason jar. They have ample seating as well as a small selection of board/card games. We played a couple rounds of Battleship for old time's sake. The wifi is fast, sadly faster than my home internet. Everyone has already shared wonderful things about this coffee shop so I won't go over the basics but I will share the unique things I found out on my first visit: I came here because my friend teaches at a school in the neighborhood and mentioned that she likes to do her work at a little hipster coffee place she found nearby. When the barista realized we were both teachers, she told us we can get a FREE COFFEE EVERY FRIDAY, all year long! How's that for teacher appreciation?! There's a "share the coffee love" wall where you can purchase a drink and leave the coupon for a friend or a stranger, which is really great - very unique and adds to the friendly/welcoming vibe. Staff is super friendly. I spoke with one of them about the restaurant and found out it's actually owned by Jesus People USA across the street. The staff here are all VOLUNTEERS through the church. How neat! Prices of food/drink are very reasonable. I paid $6 something for my coffee and banana bread, which isn't too bad. Street parking (pay to park) is available and plentiful. So good coffee, "share the love" wall, and best of all, FREE coffee for teachers on Fridays - I will most definitely be back! read more

Great space to work. Everybody's has a ton of tables and room, so would be a great place to work either alone or meet a group. There is a lot of light and no couches, so it has more of a type away at a computer than sit down with a book. Everybody's is an Indie Coffee Passport participant. They are really creative in their drinks, offering a wide variety of espresso, tea, and coca-cola based drinks. Ask to see their Star Wars menu, which has some funky flavors named after Star Wars characters. I like the Kylo Ren, which is a latte with some Aztec chocolate (very subtle) and sour cherry (more pronounced) flavors. It was really strange to drink at first, but I grew to love it. read more

The Indie Coffee Passport brought me to Everybody's Coffee in Uptown. It's located within the Wilson Abbey, and as soon as I walked in, I felt this was a place that had achieved the concept of a community gathering place. The large and open space has custom-made long wooden tables with red bar stools and smaller wooden tables for one. These tables are inlaid with coffee beans. Its little things like this that make me feel so much thought went into making the place the way it is. There are also shorter-height tables for 1-4 people to sit easily. Bright light streams through the windows. People meet here to meet, to study, to grab a cup of coffee and write Yelp reviews. EC has a variety of Star Wars-themed drinks. On my visit, I ordered the darth malt, which isn't on the menu. Raspberry syrup, chocolate syrup, espresso, and Mexican coke. It's a cold drink that defines the concept of "coffee soda." I felt like I was drinking a Cherry Coke-inspired coffee drink. The barista even offered me the remaining bottle of Mexican Coke. EC is re-defining what a cold coffee or iced coffee is, and I wholly support them. This was my first stop on the indie coffee passport tour that made me think indie. Each drink is handcrafted, and that's rare these days. I highly recommend this place to my fellow Yelpers because EC is really repping the coffee culture here in Chicago. read more

The crema on my americano is always one of the best, and the drink underneath it is superb. This place is usually not crowded on the weekends when I go, the service is always friendly and helpful, and they always seem to have a good supply of chocolate chip cookies. I could ask for a better cookie frankly, but certainly not a better cup of coffee or better atmosphere. Baked goods are a solid 4.5 but then I don't stray too far from the wondrous chip of chocolate. If you like to spread out, they have many options from long tables to little round topped two seaters to three comfy chairs - not the comfy chair! - oh yes, I am writing from one right now and with most of these seats, the cord for my Mac reaches no sweat. So - a highly recommended place to grab a cup of joe and contemplate the next leg of your journey as a writer, study for classes, or just catch the outstanding local vibe. Such a good coffee shop! I went around 11 on a Wednesday so right at the beginning of lunch/end of breakfast time and it was perfect. Very spacious and fun but chilled environment. There were quite a few people doing work/homework/reading the paper. The staff was very nice and had fast service I ordered the avocado toast and an oat milk latte. And it was seriously good food. The bread was baked perfectly and the veggies were perfect. Anyone who drinks espressos with non dairy milk knows sometimes it can taste burnt sometimes if the milk is steamed too long - that was not the case. I came here maybe every other day because the quality, taste, service, cleanliness are very consistent and closest to my home, northern suburb of Chicago. You can choose dark or medium roast for your espresso. My medium roasted latte and my husband's dark roasted cappuccino were delicious! I also like the presentation of hot tea. I liked the bodum double wall glass. You have lots of tea selections, too. I hadn't tried baked goods until recently, but it was sooo delicious!!! They said they baked most of the stuff in the shop. My favorites are vegan chocolate chip cookie and big slice of focaccia! Yum!! It was a good place to work. They have sockets and free wifi. Staffs were very friendly. I liked that bath room was clean and had enough spaces so that no need to wait. I don't like the red hippy table, but it's a good size for working. I love the artworks on the wall.
