First time here. Came with two other people for a Friday lunch. Food: Excellent selection of food. Plenty of choices for appetizers, street food, and entrees. They also have lunch specials if you're short on time or trying to stay within a budget. For an appetizer, we got the Red Bean Sesame Balls. You get six of these delightful little hot and sweet balls with a red bean center. Probably more of a dessert than an appetizer, but that didn't stop us. Two of us ordered the Pho. I got the Seafood Pho, and the other person got the Beef Pho. Both came out plenty hot, with very generous portions even though we ordered the small size. There were lots of delicious ingredients and a flavorful broth. Both were excellent. The third person ordered the Pad Thai, which was also delicious. The meat was tender, the noodles were cooked just right, and once again, it was a generous portion. Service: We were seated right away and given menus and waters. The server did a good job helping us navigate the menu and was friendly and efficient. The only issue was the timing of the food. Two of us received our Pho while the third person had to wait for her Pad Thai. It would have been better if all three meals had arrived closer together. Instead, we had that slightly awkward round of, "You eat," "No, I'll wait," "No, it'll get cold," and "Do you want some of mine?" Atmosphere: It's a well-designed space with plenty of seating, including spots at a counter and throughout the dining room. The acoustics are a bit loud because of all the hard surfaces, and the volume of the music added to the overall noise level. At times, it was difficult to hear someone across the table without leaning in. Overall, an excellent meal. I had the beef Pho, it was amazing. The dumplings as an appetizer were delicious. My husband had the lemongrass beef and got it spicy. it was delicious and so hot. Our daughter got the sweet & sour chicken. I think she was expecting the normal fried chicken Chinese version. My husband and I shared her leftovers and we enjoyed it. I've tried this restaurant a couple times and the reason I rated a three is because it's very inconsistent when it comes to most of their dishes. I've tried several things on their menu from the pho, lemon grass chicken, spring rolls with shrimp and fried rice. It's a definite skip on the fried rice, it sticks together and lacks flavor. The spring rolls are good with the peanut sauce and the pho is average. Compared to other restaurants that serve pho in the area they are skimpy on the meat. I've eaten at the restaurant and have had takeout. Their convenience and was really hopeful they would be a go to, but unfortunately, I've grown more disappointed with each time I order. For the price (average main dish is $19), inconsistent flavor and issues with the last two takeout orders, missing items I will be skipping this place moving forward. read more

The banh mi had a delicious, toasty bun, TONS of chicken, and good veggies. The ratio was perfect and the sauce was well balanced. Nothing bad at all to say about it, but I could have probably gone with a half instead of a whole portion. I'm excited to eat here again and try some of the more traditional entrees. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile so we popped by for lunch on a Thursday. It looked dead from the outside, but that was only because they weren't seating folks by the exterior windows; inside was nice and cozy and bustling. We were seated quickly, and everything we ordered came out pretty quickly as well, which was nice. Service was very friendly and helpful too. We started with a couple appetizers that were quite tasty but a little confusing, I must admit. The Fresh Spring Rolls were very good, but the addition of crunchy wonton rolls inside the spring roll was an unexpectedly odd texture, and to be honest it frankly gave the spring roll a slightly smoky flavor we didn't really care for, but they're easily removed once you bite into the roll, and then it's just a regular fresh roll. We actually didn't even know what it was until I read the menu again for this review. The peanut sauce with the rolls was excellent, though. We also had the Hanoi Dumplings, which were very crispy and had a nice flavor, but you only get 5 of them, and they're pretty small, so that was a bit of a bummer as most places give you 6 on average for the same price. For entrees, my husband had the Lemongrass Pepper Chicken, which was nicely spicy and very flavorful. You get a side of a different sauce as well, which we were confused by, but was really tasty too. However, for me, the star of the show was my Banh Mi. I got the whole/full size sandwich, and I strongly urge everyone to do the same, because a half size is more than enough food for a meal, and then you have another half for lunch the next day. Holy cow, was this good. I got the pork, and you get a really sizable amount of meat with the sandwich, plus fresh veggies tucked underneath. The combination was fantastic. They provided some thick-sliced jalapeno on the side with the sandwich, but I recommend when you get this sandwich -- and you really, really need to get this sandwich -- slice that up and put it right inside for a little extra kick. I'm writing this review having just finished my second half for lunch, and am still blown away. We'll *definitely* be back. read more

I visited Evie's recently with my wife for dinner. The restaurant is in a cozy storefront and appears clean and nicely decorated. We were seated quickly and given menus. There was a bit of a wait before a server arrived to take our order. This was a little unusual because the restaurant was not very busy. When it became clear to the staff that we were looking for our server, someone came to take our orders. My wife had a Thai iced coffee and the shrimp Bahn Mi sandwich and I ordered the Bun Thit Nuong. My meal arrived very quickly and my wife's shortly after. It was unusual that they didn't come together. Regardless, both meals were delicious. We ordered an additional Bahn Mi to take home for our son partway through our dinner so it would arrive as we finished. Again it took a long time and there was some confusion with the staff as to who ordered it. Someone from the kitchen walked past us twice carrying the food and it wasn't until several minutes later when we asked the server that he came back with the food. Overall, the food was very good but the service was lacking. It seems like their system is not very good. We will be back for the food again. Hopefully their service will improve. read more

Wow. Just wow. One of things I look forward to the most about winter's arrival is the opportunity to eat my body weight in Pho by Spring. I got an early start this year and came to Evie's for the first time. I HAVE NEVER HAD MORE FLAVORFUL BROTH IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I almost hated adding sriracha because I didn't want it to detract from that unbelievable broth flavor. This was probably the best pho I've had in recent memory, possibly ever. Very generous amount of meat, veggies, and noodles. This was easily 3 meals. I also got a pork banh mi sandwich and it had this very flavorful sauce which complemented the moist and generous portions of pork. The bread was perfectly soft and fresh. Stopped in for dinner. I ordered the spring rolls and beef pho. I thought the spring rolls were good but had a crunchy slim stick of maybe cinnamon and smaller shrimp. I've had better at many places. The beef pho was excellent! Your not choosing the meat and so it came as a combo with meatballs and tender flank steak in good proportions. The broth was very flavorful which had cilantro already in the bowl and then the side plate had the basil and other fixings as normal. Plenty of noodles perfectly cooked. The booths made it feel classier than the new tables with the open long bar showing TVs going with cooking shows. Not much seafood on the pho and when you delete two of the seafood items you'd think they'd add more of the ones you like. Orange Chicken was okay. Just okay. Nothing extra special overall but it was tasty. Veggies were a bit undercooked. We were undercharged or given the wrong bill and I gave a staff member in the back the incorrect bill and advised what we had and how they needed to charge us correctly. Then we waited 5-10 min for a correction and finally went to the front to ask for the bill so we could leave. Our server was unaware of the issue until the other staff member walked up to say she was not sure whose bill we got. There were only 4 other occupied tables, 3 of which were seated with single diners. I had a most delicious lunch at Evie's today. I ordered some thing that appeared to be new on the menu. It was sweet and sour chicken. The chicken was moist and tender, and the vegetables were crisp tender. The sauce on the dish was exactly as described, tangy and sweet. The eggroll came out hot crispy, and was very flavorful. Saw this place while driving home. Stopped in after seeing good reviews from trusted Elites. The menu is small with minimal descriptions, but my server was knowledgeable and was able to answer my questions. I asked of the Banh Mi included all traditional ingredients, including the pate. It did not, so I skipped the Banh Mi and ordered rhe Hanoi Dumplings as my appetizer. They were deep fried, filled with pork, and served with soy sauce. There were 5 dumplings to an order and they had good flavor. The small (or medium - smaller of the two sizes) beef pho was plenty of food. It inluded a couple of halved meatballs, sliced beef, and a few small pieces of tendon. The broth was very good. I didn't have to add anything to it to meet my taste preferences. There were plenty of noodles and beef was very tender. It may seem harsh but if the banh mi offerings were more traditional, I would have given 5 stars, assuming it was well-executed. I would eat here again for the pho, other apps, and other entrees and specials. Tonight's special was Vietnamese Beef Ribs, which looked like Korean style in the photo. Tried to find another Vietnamese restaurant in the Waukesha area, after my okay experience last time I came here for work. I found this place, and it had great reviews so I wanted to check it out. It was a bit of a drive, about 25 minutes. When I arrived I could see from the outside that the front was packed. When I walked in I noticed that the back had more seating and also here was a good crowd. I was promptly seated, and ordered a Banh Mi and the regular Seafood Pho, my standard order I realized. The Banh Mi was with beef, and arrived quickly, usually at Pho restaurants I receive the Pho first. Not a problem, it kinda surprises me. Any way it was delicious, I loved that they put the jalapeño on the side and not in the sandwich. Loved it! The Pho was good too, good thing I got the regular cause it was pretty large portion. Finished my meal with a hot Vietnamese coffee, which had a rich taste, and took also care of my sweet tooth...sweet as it was. I really enjoyed my meal, it was worth the drive, and to come back next time I'm back in the area. Service is fast and friendly, great place. read more

Although I am by no means an expert on Vietnamese food, I do know what I like and I very much enjoyed my experience at Evie's. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and my server, Evelyn, was very attentive, enthusiastic and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Her service was flawless. I started off with the Crispy Egg Rolls, which were hot, tasty and crunchy and then moved on to my flavorful side order of fried rice. Finally, I dug into my main entrée of Lemongrass Chicken. The entrée had just the right amount of kick to it and the Yum-Yum sauce was a nice added touch for dipping. To sum up: inviting atmosphere, wonderful server and excellent food. Alright y'all. What's up with all these 4&5 star reviews? I had been told I needed to try this place and was finally in the area to check it out. First of all, service was terrible. We were barely greeted and just stood at the counter while staff shuffled around for a bit. Then we got sat at a table with very low lamps that weren't even centered on the table and all up in our headspace. Then multiple people walked by without acknowledging us. Eventually someone came to take our order but knew nothing about the menu or drinks. We weren't given plates so we ate over the table, drippy sauces and all. Eventually some guy came over with silverware and plates but we were almost done with the apps. Drinks were extremely underwhelming and not something I would waste money on. They had the special of "Larb" but only option was chicken and it was huge chunks. The picture showed it with daikon and rice but we did not receive either. The server told us we had to order it specifically if we wanted rice I'm partial to pork larb but rolled the dice. Wow, personally the worst larb I have ever had. It was covered in "rice powder" and completely ruined the flavor. The egg rolls were not fresh tasting. Vietnamese crispy egg rolls are my hands down favorite ( my mom immigrated from Thailand in her 30s). these were also the worst I have ever had. Now on to the pho. I thought I've had a lot of southern style pho. I have never had anything like this before. The broth was unbearably sweet. Tasted like cinnamon sugar and nutmeg? I can clean up an entire large bowl of pho to myself on any given lunch day. I will almost always eat everything even if the meal is okay. I could not bring myself to finish anything past the egg rolls. For the price I would not recommend this place. Which pains me because Thai/Vietnamese/Laos food is my favorite :( read more

This has been a bookmark ever since they opened so since I was in the mood for some Pho and it's been a while because my favorite place closed from C19. The place is in a strip mall so parking is plentiful. The place itself is nice with lots of wood with a bar and three dining areas, the one in the front window looks like a private party space. The menu is typical Vietnamese but I was there for the Pho. I ordered the med beef Pho with the added beef rib because no other place has offered the beef Pho topped with a beef rib. To my surprise the med Pho was huge and looked good so I asked what's a large like and she said this is a large, the kitchen made a large for you med order at no extra charge because it's our mistake. The Pho had a nice broth that was clean, not oily like some places with good flavor and not as good as my favorite place but still good. The garnish was standard Pho with the lime, basil, sprouts and jalapeños with hoisin and sriracha sauce. The Pho had thin sliced beef, meat balls and tendon. The beef rib was meaty with the broth in it and good. The Pho was decent but my only complaint was that there was very little tendon and only 2 jalapeño slices. Overall it's a solid Pho place and I would definitely go back for more of the menu to try. read more

We were in Menomonee Falls (which is kind of rare for us) and after finishing up our Home Depot shopping, we decided to find a spot for dinner. After a quick search on Yelp, we found Evie's. I'm so glad we did! Evie's serves up delicious Vietnamese eats in a casually chic atmosphere. We decided to share some plates and so opted for their appetizer sampler, which allows you three different appetizers. We got the dumplings, crab rangoon, and spring rolls. All were delicious, but the spring rolls were really the star of the show. Beautifully fresh with a nice crunchiness in the middle and a peanut dipping sauce-they were amazing! For our main dishes, we shared their chicken fried rice as well as their teriyaki tofu. Both were served with soy sauce as well as a creamy garlic sauce. The fried rice dish was ample and everything fried rice ought to be (with just the right amount of egg). The teriyaki tofu came with perfectly al dente veggies and white rice. It was delicious and if I were to choose my favorite of the two, it would be the tofu. We also enjoyed some Vietnamese coffee. We found out later that they have a full bar (you have to request their bar menu). So, looking forward to coming back to try some cocktails with our meal. I was craving Pho on a rainy Sunday afternoon, and my normal spot is closed on Sundays! I am glad it was, though, because I got to try out Evie's Vietnamese Kitchen. The ambiance and decor was fun and more modern than many of the Vietnamese spots I have been to. We started with the Wisconsin Crab Rangoon, which had a delicious filling and very thin, crispy wrapping. The dipping sauce it came with was delicious. We then ordered a large Beef Pho ($14) and Pork Banh Mi to share. The Pho had a really tasty broth and the noodles were cooked to perfection. I was impressed by how much meat came in my bowl of Pho! It was a great variety and it all tasted great. My boyfriend thought the Banh Mi was fantastic and that the pork was seasoned well. I finished my meal with a Brown Sugar Milk Tea. It totally hit the spot! The boba was soft and chewy. I personally was a big fan of Evie's. It was decently full for a Sunday afternoon, but we were seated immediately. We ordered takeout. My sister ate one of two spring rolls and the Hanoi pork dumplings and got very sick w diarrhea and vomiting after12 hours. I had the combination fried rice and developed a headache as did my sister right after eating. It was ok, very caky-like maybe from starch or msg kind of like you'd get at a diner. We both had a sinus-like headache and aching under our jaws. I've taken several aspirin and still have a headache after 24 hours with mild stomach pain. My brother-in-law had the lo mein with beef but did not get sick. read more
