This place is honestly so good, I cannot believe I haven't been coming here regularly. Everything on this menu is fire pork belly, drunken noodles, curry, egg rolls, dumplings! Such great Thai and Laotian food! It can get quite busy, but they're very efficient. The beers are also very unique!

Delicious spring rolls, shrimp pho was perfect warms your soul & tastes oh so good! Cute little place in the 3rd ward, parking can be tricky. Very pleasant staff. Nice view of the river too!

We had a large party for dinner on a weekday night and the place was not that full, so it felt like it was only us. The place looks a little old school with video games and the black decor, nothing great. Service was quick and attentive. Food-wise, while the edamame was great (hard to mess that up, ya know), the crispy squid, while crispy, had a different sort of breading to it unlike most Asian places and the oil it was fried in, felt old. I ordered the pad Thai for dinner and it arrived a little reddish-pink in color, unsure where the color came from. It was tasty though and the shrimp I added to it, were juicy and fresh. Portion size was large especially for the price. I also ordered a ginger lychee martini and that was definitely a highlight. Strong and made well. We also tried different types of sake and they were good too.

I don't eat pho often, but after this experience, I'll DEFINITELY be having it more! Yesterday, on a chilly day with temperatures in the single digits, a friend and I stopped by Lucky Ginger for lunch and sat at the bar. We both ordered the tofu pho. It was delicious, but I wanted to provide a PSA for plant-based folks: the broth is beef-based. They brought out sriracha and hoisin sauce to add to the pho, along with all the fixings like sprouts, jalapenos, and basil. The soup was light yet still filling and comforting. The broth was flavorful, but I really enjoyed customizing the pho to my taste with the extra toppings. We visited on a Monday afternoon when it wasn't busy. At our seat by the window both the service and lighting were great. The woman who helped us was quick and even took a moment to chat - so welcoming! Looks like there were more tables in the back for busier days too. Definitely a great spot tucked into the Third Ward!

Lucky Ginger gives Bar Vibes. The establishment sells Thai/Asian Food. I was craving pad Thai and this place was recommended by a couple of individuals local to the area. I ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken. Service was fast and friendly. The flavor was decent and I ate it all.

Veggie pho (I already dug into it) and lychee ginger martini (I already drank it. lol).

We sat at the bar at Lucky Ginger and had a great experience! The ambiance was solid and they were playing some good tunes while we were there. The pho was very good and hit the spot even on a warm night. The pad Thai was spicy with a great nutty flavor! The service was good, but with only one person behind the bar serving it did take some time to get a second drink. Will be back again!

I went here for lunch and tried the calamari for appetizer and the pad see ew/noodles. Super tasty! They have booth and table seating and has a nice view of the river. Service was good, it was a pretty slow lunch / time. I always ask for no straws, to avoid plastic use

Came here to try the Pho! It was some of our personal favorite. What makes this Pho so delicious is the broth, it's very rich in flavor, savory with a hint of sweetness. We also tried the Chicken satay (comes with 4 skewers, not 2) which was very nicely seasoned, peanut sauce could use a bit more peanut flavor, but overall quite tasty. We enjoyed the vegetable and special pho, both wonderful, but would like to see a bit more of the accompanying garnishes like bamboo shoots, jalepeno, etc! Waitress was prompt and got us sauces and drinks quickly, overall we will be coming back as the Pho broth is quite to-die for!

I'm visiting from NYC and the pad Thai here was better than any local delivery spot I've tried at home. I did a level 3 of spice, which was the perfect amount. The portions are HUGE and enough to feed 2-3 people sharing. I also started off with the calamari which had really nice seasoning. The atmosphere itself is no frills and very basic, but that's all it truly needed. The staff was also attentive considering how busy it was with phone orders, people picking up and a packed dining room with some also at the bar.

I came here earlier this month with some friends after we stopped by the state fair. Since everyone was at the state fair, it was easy to find street parking. We came for dinner. We were able to quickly grab a table and menus were placed in front of us. We then decided to order some apps and our entrees. We went with the chicken wing and beef sticks. The chicken wing was more crispy/burnt than we expected but we still enjoyed the taste. Then we ordered two phos and one pad Thai. Our server forgot to put in the pad Thai but she made up for it later. The phos were pretty standard so I'm glad it tasted like what pho is suppose to taste like. The pad Thai was huge and easily shared by the three of us. When it comes to Asian food, Lucky Ginger did a wonderful job with the taste and presentation.

Went to dinner on a whim on a Thursday night with my husband and a friend, and it was great! There is a bar right when you walk in, so the seating situation for dinner in was a little confusing at first. They definitely do a big takeout business, there were alot of orders lined up on the counter for pickup. We found our way to the dining area in the back, and our server was very kind and welcoming. Unfortunately they were out of 3 beverages those on our group wanted to order; the Thai iced tea, a rose wine and ingredients for a seasonal cocktail, so that was a little surprising! We found other good options. Food was really good, our table got egg rolls, dumplings, calamari, 2 noodle dishes and chicken pho. Dumplings are clearly homemade, and absolutely worth the 25 min wait mentioned on the menu!! The egg rolls were hot and crispy, but average flavor I'd say. Calamari was cooked well and had a really good seasoning on it. The chicken pho was everything you want a big bowl of pho to be, and was perfect for me once doctored up with all the fixings; fresh jalapeno, spro uts, hoisin and lime. One of the two noodle dishes was a bit too salty, the other was perfect. Dining room ambiance leaves a bit to be desired, but the waitress was so friendly, helpful and caring to assure we enjoyed our meal. As many places are, I think they are struggling with staffing issues, but the food and service did not show it! Absolutely recommend for a casual bite out with friends or takeout when you are craving something tasty.

The greeting from the hostess was warm and friendly; she is an asset and really makes you feel welcome. Once we were seated and finally finished our struggle with what to order, we got our drinks. I had to go with the One Night in Bangkok again because it's just a really nuanced and complex mix of tangy, spicy and a hint of sweet. The smoke show also is impressive. My cousin tried the Berry-cation from the summer menu and it was perfect for her - very fresh and a little sweeter. Cousin-in-law got the Thai Goddess, with tomato, and it was very interesting - not quite fruity and not overly vegetal - very cool. Our food was amazing. If you are celiac or gluten-free, I don't recommend ever eating here. While they have a dedicated gluten-free menu with options for changing things out, on two separate occasions (of the 4 times I've been there) they've made a mistake. It puts you in a challenging and uncomfortable situation when you are curious about something actually being gluten-free. I know for myself, you don't want to insinuate that you don't trust your server! My most recent visit there I had the shittake/vegetable Ramen with rice noodles. I explained that I can't have soy sauce because it contains wheat. I explained that if they have tamari that they could check if it is wheat free because I often can have tamari instead of soy sauce. I explained that I can't have anything that contains wheat. My server informed me that she would make sure that this was gluten-free, that the rice noodles would be replacing the Ramen noodles. While eating I was curious if the noodles were not gluten-free, and I was informed that they do seem to be rice noodles. We were also sure to order the tofu as steamed rather than fried so that it would not have cross-contamination. (Due to first glutened experience) Later that night and the following day I can report that what I ate was not in fact, rice noodles or gluten free, and I have been glutened. On a previous occasion, I ordered the fresh spring rolls with a sauce that I was informed was gluten-free with tofu. While already eating this, the server came over and informed me that the tofu was not gluten-free, and had been fried. I think that there may be some lack of understanding what gluten-free means and how it impacts people generally in most of the food service industry. I believe they did their best to try to accommodate. That being said if you are celiac or gluten intolerant, please steer clear! Very unfortunate because it was tasty. I understand that as someone who needs to eat gluten-free that I am taking a risk by eating at a restaurant that is not gluten-free forward. Although they have a dedicated allergy menu, two out of the four times I've eaten there it hasn't made a difference. Great restaurant, not great for celiac.

I completely agree that this isn't authentic chinese food, but approachable fusion that tries to keep it truthful to the flavors and presentation. The highlight of the meal was the peking duck, which they only have about 2 orders of a night. We snagged it immediately when we sat down and it can easily feed 4 people with the sides. The duck was juicy and cut into thick pieces, so it was more of a steak rather than a bao style that I am used to. Nevertheless, it was delicious and even warmed up well the next day. The green onion wraps were...strange in my opinion. They fell apart easily and didn't have the best flavor that complemented the duck. Overall, I would come back for the duck itself, but everything else was average or extra salty. Service was great and the staff are very attentive. Happy eating!

The vibe: It was packed at 7:15 PM on a Sunday, and they held firmly to our reservation time--which is understandable given the crowd. We took a nice stroll while waiting, so no harm done. Once seated, the service was excellent--attentive, prompt, and professional. The food: This is clearly high-end Americanized Chinese food, not authentic regional cuisine. If you go in expecting that, you'll have a better experience. The menu reads like a "greatest hits" collection--familiar dishes done with nicer ingredients and presentation. What worked well: Smashed Cucumber - A strong start. The cilantro and bean sprouts were exceptionally fresh, and the peanut finish added nice depth, though the sauce leaned a bit salty for my taste. Service and atmosphere - polished and efficient. What fell short for me: Wonton Soup - The wrappers were thicker than I prefer; I like a more delicate, translucent skin. The leek-based broth was pleasant, though. Salt & Pepper Cod - The seasoning was good, but the cod pieces were too thick, so the center remained bland. Halving the thickness would improve the texture. Mongolian Beef - Tender meat, but I wanted thicker cuts and larger onion pieces for more bite. It leaned a bit soggy for my preference. Rice Cake with Pork Belly - Pork belly was well-executed, but too many rice cakes overwhelmed the dish. The flavor leaned Korean (almost kimchi-like), which felt like a departure from the rest of the menu. Beef Chow Fun - Felt repetitive, using the same thin-sliced beef and bean sprouts as other dishes. I'd prefer charred broad rice noodlesthat are thin. These rice sticks were wide and thick,so like the cod, the center of the rice sticks were bland. I also preferred more eggs in this dish for variety. The overall pattern: Many dishes share similar ingredients and sauce profiles, which makes sense for a busy kitchen but does reduce variety across the meal. Bottom line: If you're looking for authentic, nuanced Chinese cooking, this probably isn't your spot. But if you want a polished, upscale version of familiar Chinese-American favorites in a great location, with reliable service, Dan Dan delivers that well. I personally wouldn't return, but I can see why it's popular--especially for the crowd that wants comfort food in a nicer setting.

Our server, Adam, was quick and attentive. He was funny, suggested items for us to try, and was very tentative of our friend's food allergy. We started the night with a few drinks; #39 non-alcoholic Paloma, #129 non-alcoholic sbagiato, and #33 Sherry Pear-Y. All of which were absolutely amazing! Then we ordered the Chili Crisp Deviled Eggs (comes with two pieces), Crispy Thai-Style Oyster Mushrooms, Cappelletti, Slow-braised Bison Cheek, Cha Ca La Vong (Catfish), and the Wood-fired Bavette Steak. Where do I begin? First off, everything was fantastic! Delicious, creative, and memorable. Some dishes even had us ordering seconds! First the Chili Crisp Deviled Eggs: so creamy! We ended up ordering another plate of them (four orders) because one wasn't enough for the four of us. The Crispy Thai-Style Oyster Mushroom: insanely seasoned! It was crispy and the kick of the Thai chili peppers, made it our tables favorite (we ordered another plate of this)! The bits of crunch rice mixed in was also a pleasant surprise. The bits of green beans and cucumber was a nice way to cool the kick of the spices. The Slow-braised Bison Cheek: It was very interesting. Very soft and when paired with the polenta cake, mozzarella, and carrot, it tasted amazing. Cha Ca La Vong (Catfish): Also very interesting. It tastes very similar to a Vietnamese catfish soup! The pineapple fish sauce paired amazing with the glass noodles. The only complaint I have about this dish, was that the glass noodles weren't fully cooked, so they were a bit hard. The Wood-fired Bavette Steak: My god, this was amazing! It was perfectly cooked, the dark chocolate bordelaise paired with the mushrooms and steak was incredible. Like I said, everything was amazing! Our table was blown away with the creativity and quality of the food. The service was amazing, everyone was very sweet and helpful. The atmosphere was lovely and quirky.
