It came out as a beautiful soft and natural color, while other salons gave me yellow color and said that is just how my blonde is. I can not believe how stunning it looks. I also love Merrick's attitude, he is very nice, professional, and has tremendous knowledge about hair. I'm not much into chatting when I'm at a hairdresser and he is totally ok with it. I'm from outta town and I came into the salon to do my hair. I came in for highlights and they end up destroying my hair. My hair was totally damaged. This place is horrible. It's my fault for coming I should have known when they had no customers in there. I had to go cut my hair at a different salon because they burned my hair off. Would never go here again and they are a total rip off place too. The lady doesn't look like she knew what she was doing. I can't believe I went to this place walk in with a head full of hair and came out with half of it gone. Just a absolute disaster :( Please don't go here, I know businesses are struggling but this place just takes advantage of people and instead of caring, they destroy hairs and summers. My crush doesn't even look at me now, I just have to wait and recover until my hair grows back. I have to od on biotin and I have to buy a lot of hair repairs. He walked me through the process, was very diligent about applying the Keratin properly and making sure every last strand of curly hair was straightened. My hair feels healthier and smoother already. I'm having a very positive experience at Evolve salon, after choosing it from an internet search of salons near my apartment. I would highly recommend Moshe for both cut and color. I'd always thought I had to have some layers in a haircut, but Moshe is an expert at blunt cuts and he was able to do one for my curly hair. He is also expert at dying eyebrows to match hair color so that they look totally natural. While I explained my history of hair color to Moshe, I didn't need to, he went with his instinct and achieved a natural single process color for me. He is very gentle, as are the people who wash hair at the salon, which is important to me. read more

I've been using groupons for haircut and dye job for years and have to say my experience here was at the bottom if not the worst. My stylist seemed very Junior and they clearly used Groupon to just get you in the seat to then nickle and dime you. The woman at the front desk had horrible customer service and really left me disappointed I ever went to this salon. Won't be returning. read more

I have medium long curly fine hair. It is very difficult to find someone to layer my hair properly. If it's not layered right, it gets very flat within 2 months of being cut, and I do not want a cut every 2 months. Murod is the only person who cuts my hair exactly as I want; I can go months without getting a haircut and it looks amazing. I highly recommend this hairstylist, he is skilled and he fallows directions, you will love your hair. read more

WORST experience ever! Ended up paying double from my groupon because my hair was "too long"' got overcharged for the blow out which was a part of the deal... most of all they burned my hair! I got balayage done which she did a terrible job at. Since getting it done last June my hair fall has increased SO much and hair is super dehydrated and dry. Even chopping it off didn't help. And I have gotten balayage/coloring done at other salons before and my hair was still fine. I'm usually not one to write reviews but please stay away from this place if you're reading this. If I could give this place -10 stars I really would. I first came in for a consultation that took 30 minutes of me explaining exactly how I would like my color.. shortly after, I trusted this woman and made an appointment. I jokingly told the woman "I hope this comes out right because I do not want to go through this again" (I have dealt with many people trying to dye my hair and it NEVER comes out the color I would like.) she then sat me in the chair and offered me a glass a water but came back with the smallest plastic cup of warm water.. I brushed it off and continued to stare at myself through the mirror waiting for the woman to start. Suddenly a gentleman walks over yelling to the woman "Stop!" He then told me to get up and told the woman not to do my hair. WHAT?!?! I was so confused. The woman by the way was ALREADY taking my hair down.. the man said "we have the right to refuse who we want. No leave" I was angry, embarrassed, and confused. I never felt so humiliated in my life. I would NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE EVER. Please take heed to what others say about this place. I overlooked the negative comments, still came and this is how they treated me. I purchased a package deal on Groupon for a haircut, full head of balayage, and deep conditioning. I admit, I was extremely skeptical going to a salon for the first time off of a deal I found online, but my experienced exceeded my expectations. Maria, cut and colored my hair, and the results are beautiful and exactly what I wanted. Upon sitting down in the chair, Maria informed me of the extra $30 fee because of my hair's length, she also told me that it would be near impossible to get the color I wanted due to leftover black box dye I've been growing out. I had done some research before hand, so the extra $30 fee was not a shock (it is also in the fine print of the voucher). I was also told a full blow-dry and style would be an additional $40, but again not a total shock because that isn't what my Groupon packaged included. Even though I opted out of the blow-dry, Maria blew dry my hair a little, and was even kind enough to hit it with the round brush to really show off my cut and color. I have previously paid significantly more at another salon on just a partial head of balayage that came out brassy and chunky. The cut and color I walked out with are enough to overlook the "hidden fees" and rate my experience 5 stars! read more

I bought the $100 balayage package. I got the haircut and the coloring which took 3.5 hours. After they finished coloring the dresser told me that a blow dry was not included that it would be $40. What service with a haircut and balayage does not include a blow out and then asks for $40. When I went to go pay the receptionist their was an additional $4.5 charge and then a $30 charge because my hair was "dense". I was never informed about this and they told me that on the groupon it says "fees may apply". Never heard of a $30 thickness fee. I spoke to the manager who was not accommodating at all and the receptionist was absolutely condescending telling me "it's only $30". I was blown away. The environment was childish and unprofessional. read more

I was going to purchase a groupon deal but instead I called the place and was told by the owner of salon that I can just pay for the deal when I arrive. He never told me that it was a 30.00 extra charge for people with hair longer than shoulder length NOR did he mention I also had to pay for the blowout, another 40.00! Luckily he understood that it was not mentioned to me when we spoke and he lowered it from 30.00 to 15.00 for the length which I was hoping he would not charged at all due to this mistake on his behalf. My hair is dark and I showed Maria pictures of what I was hoping for with the Balayage. She did tell me that she will do her best to lighten it as much as possible due to the darkness of my hair.. When she was finished, my hair looked the same as when I walked in, you can barely see any lightness, I was extremely disappointed for there was no effort in assisting me in informing me that my hair would NOT look like the pics I showed her before she started doing the work. If I had not paid the extra 40.00 I would have walked out of the salon with wet hair, I felt I was forced to pay the 40.00 for I had no other choice. I am hoping the owner of this salon can assist me in having this done over again for I paid 160.00 total for something I am not happy about, at all! read more

BEWARE!!! I went in for color and haircut with Maria and was so very disappointed with both. The cut is simply awful. I walked in with a bunch of pictures of a shoulder length cut with some long layers and side swept bangs. My coworkers say it looks like someone took a pair of scissors and cut the top half of my hair straight around at ear length. The layers are excessive and super choppy - nothing blends. The color was tricky as I was asking to correct my bleached out ends and then add balayage highlights to my light brown hair. The ends are now blackish brown mixed with platinum highlights. She says the dark color is just toner and will fade with time... here's hoping. read more

I have been a client of the owner, Murod, for some time now, and he is fabulous. This was my first time visiting him at Evolve and I was very impressed. To start, Murod is a very nice man who listens yet is able to make suggestions while still respecting whatever your hair preferences are. If you ask him to cut off an inch, he does just that - I always hate when then take off way more than you ask! The atmosphere at Evolve is relaxing (it's super clean and chic looking too) and the staff was friendly as well. They use Oribe products which seem very high quality and smell amazing. The prices are reasonable and after using him for three years I can confidently say Murod is wonderful at cuts and styling. I can't speak for color because I haven't needed it yet, but customers always seemed happy with his work. I really loved my last cut at Evolve and the blow-out Murod gave me lasted three days (my hair is naturally curly and frizzes easily). Although I used to be able to visit him across the street from my job at his last salon, it's worth a few subway stops to get my hair cut at his new place. The salon is conveniently located near many train lines, they take you promptly, and Murod spends time on your cut and blowout (he always gets my hair, smooth, shiny and bouncy). In fact the results he gets are as good or better than far more expensive places I've tried over the years. I wish Murod and team a lot of success and look forward to going back soon.
