I was visiting Columbus awhile ago and I went in to Evolved to get a piece of jewelry changed on my septum piercing I got less than a month prior (pierced somewhere else). The lady behind the counter acted really inconvenienced that I was even asking to be helped, but regardless I told them I wanted to get a retainer put in. She showed me one piece of jewelry (which I would've liked to see more and look around at their options but again, customer service wasn't her strong suit) and she told me I could do it myself because it's 'not that hard.' Now, I'm a bit of a germophobe when it comes to my piercings so I came into the shop specifically to get it changed just to make sure everything was done correctly, and I didn't want to irritate my new piercing because I can't even see it.. since it's inside my nose.. so I wanted to have them put it in for me. The lady was really rude and would clearly have rather done anything but help me. She was like "it's busy so it's a really long wait. I GUESS you can stay." So of course at this point I'm like alright, I don't want to inconvenience her by making her do her job, I'll leave. I put in the piercing myself and it was fine, it really wasn't that hard. I just would've been more comfortable having them do it. I would've paid. It's unfortunate that they're so rude and unhelpful to their customers at Evolved. read more

came here yesterday just to get a replacement ball for my septum. apparently they don't carry any 16g jewelry (even though it's the most common size for septum piercings...). no big deal. but the piercer immediately started talking about stretching up/sizing down my nose piercing. i was a bit taken aback and was thrown off and blindly agreed to letting them stretch my septum piercing to a 14g. highly regret it and wasted my money ($40 for a basic septum ring... seriously???) read more

Happy Birthday to me. This the 4th time I've received a ear piercing but the 2nd time I've gone to Evolved. My first visit to Evolved was for my 40th birthday, 9 years ago. I received a Tragus. As it has been a while, I don't recall the artist but I do recall the pain and crunching sound through the cartilage. I decided I would wait a while to give it another try. As my 49th birthday approached, I decided to give it another try. I went in a little nervous, but there was no need to be. I met Sosa and fell in IMMEDIATE like! I introduced myself after he introduced himself. When he heard me say my name he asked if I spoke Spanish. After I said yes, we spoke Spanish for the remainder of the visit. Although, I'm fluent in both languages, I felt extremely relaxed speaking with him. I decided to get a Rook. His piercing technique made me decide to get another piercing! He was that good. There was no pain. In fact, I asked if he could put a new earring in the existing Helix piercing. I felt that him putting a new earring in the existing Helix hole was slightly more painful than when he pierced the Rook. I plan on returning for my 50th for another piercing but will only do it if Sosa is there. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the receptionist/cashier. Although I was nervous she was patient with me. I'm not sure if she left for the day but when my piercing was done there was a new receptionist/cashier. As, I had passed her when I arrived, I new she hadn't been there long. She wasn't very cheery. In fact, she didn't seem to want to be there. However, despite the lack of cheeriness of the receptionist/cashier, I plan on returning for Sosa to do my next piercing on my 50th birthday! I visited summit first and there was a 45 minute wait on Tuesday for piercings (you get a free piercing with purchase of jewelry) so I called the high st location and they didn't have a wait so I went straight there. The lady at the desk was super nice and informative and my piercer Dave was amazing. I can't recommend this place enough. It was clean and the wall art and the rustic feel of the place was really cool. This place always has some kind of special most nights. read more

I've been to probably.... five-six tattoo/piercing shops in my lifetime and this was one of the nicest. I had a nose piercing before (done in Chicago) and it was a pretty craptastic experience so when I decided to do it again I made sure to get it done right. I did some researching on Columbus piercing shops and according to safepiercing.org, Evolved is one of two places in Columbus that is a member of the association of professional piercers. Evolved was closest to me so I went there. And I'm very glad that I did. Evolved seems hell-bent on making sure that you, as the client, know that they are clean and sterile. I loved that. Sarvas pierced me and he was so kind and gentle. When a little tear involuntarily dropped from my eye, he wiped it with some gauze haha. I thought that was sweet. They offer discounts too... you get buy one get one (piercing) on Thursdays and 50% off on your birthday. And you get a coupon for a future jewelry purchase. I've returned to Evolved a few times to either change jewelry (because I'm a scaredy cat) or get jewelry reinserted because i took the jewelry out and my piercing closed a bit. Each of those visits were great. The staff really seems to care about you when you're there. And you wouldn't expect that by just looking at them-- c'mon, with all those tats and piercings... they look extra hardcore but they're as sweet as can be. I highly recommend Evolved. read more

I would go there for more piercing work but never again to get a tattoo. In the past I have been here for 3 tattoos, 2 piercing's, and some gauge work. The piercer I had I like her she's great, she did my nipples and made the entire time a delightful experience. The guy that helped me do my gauge work, is also a great person and did wonderful. Now for my tattoo's... The guy was very nice and very helpful. I am not sure if it was him having a heavy hand or what but he did a large piece on my back that took 5 hours to do and after the first 3 the entire thing was an inch high. I did not think anything of it, until I had more work done and my other artist said how it is welted and it has actually scarred. It has been 5 years and it is still a risen tattoo, and the ink has also bleed out a bit. I have another tattoo on my leg, much smaller and I am in the process of getting that one covered up as well, because I don't like the meaning and the ink has also bleed out. I am guessing because the fact that they are located on high st. in the heart of OSU campus is why they over charge. But I did not feel I got my money's worth. read more

Can't get enough of this place! Friendly employees who can handle whatever it is you're seeking: tattoo, piercing. It is by campus so parking can be an issue. I found my honey hole though! However, it's well worth it! If you're needing some art, then this place will have what you want. They have many artists each with different specialties. You can view their portfolios online ahead of time and get an idea of who you should consult with. I chose traditional Japanese art and Mike Prickett is my artist. He is absolutely a master artist!! I will get all my tattoos here and with Mike. And that speaks for itself! Do it! Get inked! And get inked at Evolved! This was my second tattoo, and for the sheer amount of work I got done here, the price was great. It's a bigger tattoo....whole upper arm. It's clean, and the artist explains everything they do to ensure hygiene and sterility of their equipment. read more

Four words: Two for one piercings. I've gotten my navel, inverse navel, and forward helix pierced here. The first two were by Sarvas, and the last by Colin. I really love this shop: everyone is professional and super passionate about body modification. They don't treat you differently based on your age or lack of piercings/tattoos, which is always a huge plus. Every piece of jewelry is specially sanitized, and all the piercers are very dedicated to cleanliness. That's a huge relief when it comes to worrying about healing! If you're going in for a larger piece, such as a custom tattoo or serious piercing set, you should probably get an appointment. I've always just done walk-ins since I'm willing to wait. I had a really great experience here. I came in to get a new stud for my nose piercing on a Saturday night around 7 pm. Everyone who helped me was incredibly knowledgable and helpful. They explained all the different types of jewelry they had and changed the stud when I picked one. Some piercing places can feel a little judgy if you aren't super knowledgable about piercings, but I didn't find that to be true here. Everyone was friendly and nice. Really really amazing experience! I went in for my first piercings, not really knowing what to expect but literally everyone I met was super friendly and relaxed. As an overly anxious introvert, I felt really comfortable to chat with everyone and ask questions. I've always heard good things about the two Evolveds in Columbus, but colour me impressed. I drove my friend to the one on Hudson for their piercing last year and while it was also really nice, the wait was crazy long. In comparison, it was pretty busy (-- maybe even more clients then the time I went to Hudson) as it was a Tuesday night, but the wait didn't seem that long-- neither did the piercing process itself. Dave, my piercer was pretty detailed in his explanations and also a pretty chill and relatable dude. I'd really recommend getting that tattoo or piercing that's been on your mind for a minute and to go here. The prices are reasonable and the entire process is pretty smooth sailing. The outside's pretty misleading-- because this is such a pleasant place. Also, just wanted to add (because I saw on someone else's review too) I really really appreciate that they didn't try to pressure me into buying anything extra, but instead let me know what I needed to know. I've been going here since my senior year of high school when I decided to get my doubles pierced. Since then I've been back for 4 other piercings, including my nose ring which I had pierced elsewhere previously and it got really irritated so I took it out.
