Do not recommend. After reaching out to the nail tech personally about trying to fix my nails I heard nothing back. I know she saw the messages she was on her phone the whole time she did my nails....the gel started peeling and the glitter she put on started lifting only two days later. She also rushed the paint job because she had another customer come in asking for her. HELLO IM PAYING YOU FOR MY SERVICE. I got these nails done for a special event and now had to pay even more to get them fixed. $65 for the set I got is ridiculous. Should customer service a little better for those prices. Excel nails is always one of the first places I want to go to on my visits back home from college. The ladies here are ON POIINNTTT! From the comfy pedicure chairs to the meticulous nail designs, everything here is a win! Every time I go here my nails are perfected and very detail-oriented. The creativity the ladies have here make Excel stand out from other salons. They have some designs displayed, but their real artwork is in their heads. Lily is amazing, she can literally make any design you request. I prefer her to just surprise me because she comes up with something new and unique each time. All designs are done free-handedly, even on acrylic nails. Oh, and you can even get 3D nails done here!!! I've been dying to try them out for the longest time, but I never have the time to when I'm here for a visit. I wish I knew about this place when I was still in high school, because this would have definitely been my go-to salon for proms and whatnot. The only con I can think of is that it's pricey. I definitely would not normally be able to afford getting my nails did from here, but luckily I have mommy dearest to always treat me out when I come to visit. :) But hey, you get what you pay for here. Except there are some interesting pedicures such as the $65 sangria one or chocolate something one.....not exactly sure if dipping your feet in chocolate and wine actually benefit your feet. Would love to try if I had the money though! I have tried the lemon drop pedicure and the peaches and cream one....absolutely delightful! As of manicures, their gel nails are a MUST TRY! My natural nails feeling like indestructible acrylics, LOVE. One last thing, keep in mind that there are two locations. This is an outstanding salon. They girls are fun and chatty. But most importantly the pedicure lasts, and lasts, and lasts. I received a pedicure on August 22nd 2012, and it still looks great (except for the fact that they have grown out) a month and a half later. No chips, still shinny. And I am a bare foot kinda girl! I am SO disappointed in this nail salon. I've been coming here for years now. I quit having my acrylics done there a while back because they weren't lasting more than a week and I was paying $50+ for my nails. They always had AMAZING pedicures, but the last 4 times I've been they've been nothing but sloppy. Today will be my last visit. I took my two daughters today to get pedicures and we got nothing but sloppy rushed work. It cost me over $100 for a crap job. I could have done better at home. Kim is the most amazing nail technician and I'd love to see her go to a better salon that treats her better and gives her the materials to do good quality work. I will miss Kim, but that salon is not worth my time or money. Don't go here! read more

I had the worst manicure and pedicure of my life at this business. It was a horrible experience and I will never go back. I had a different technician for my manicure and pedicure and they both were horrible. It was also painful as they kept jabbing me. My nails were so crooked that I went home and tried to re-shape them as best as I could and then had to let them grow back. They are also VERY rude. I've been coming here since they opened (literally) and swear by it :) I'm definitely a clean freak and this place never fails my standards! They clean every bath tub impeccably and all their tools are new opened with a plastic wrapper after its been sanitized. They never reuse any nail files or buffers (which I love). Many of the girls are good but my personal favorite is Lynn she's amazing and I always work with her. I can call her 30mins before and she will fit me in. Her works amazing not to mention lasts super long. I don't live close 25 mins away so I can't come every three weeks but even when I wait the 5 weeks they have no sign of coming off. It's a little pricey but its always worth it to me because their work is quality and neat. I do not go to other salons and when I have (quick mani) I always regret not coming here. I found Kim! She moved from old Excel Nails #2 (that shop closed down). Great news - Kim is now at Excel Nails on Blue Ravine! I only go to a place that is clean and uses high quality products. I know I can always count on products that Lilly (the owner) uses at Excel Nails! I like that everyone there greets you with a smile and makes you feel truly welcome. I'm so glad to find Kim, I thought I had lost her! She provides great customer service and is most kind! She refuses to speak any language other than English in front of you. She respects you and listens to what you want! I love that about her. She has great skills doing nails and pedicures! As I said, so glad I found where she is now working! I tried this salon out this weekend and wish I hadn't. Let me start by saying I've been getting my nails done for the better part of 10 years. I get the pink and white gel. I made an appointment and was told that I would need to wait 20 minutes. I said that I couldn't wait because I had another commitment, which is why I made the appointment, but thanks anyway. The owner said no stay, we will fit you in. I should have trusted my gut and left. It was obvious by how they acted that I was inconveniencing. After almost 15 minutes, a lady came over and had me sit down. She started cutting down my nails. She then said all the nails would need to be removed and a new set would need to be put on because the colors would not match (which shouldn't matter because they get filed so much during the process there isn't much color left to match - and they had a color really close anyway). I told her I didn't want a new set, and if she couldn't fill them it was fine, I would just go back to my normal salon. I have been around salons enough to know that some salons take the nails off (which is HORRIBLE for your real nails underneath) because its much quicker and easier than filing them and filling them the right away. The lady then began to cut chunks of my nails off which was painful. She then said I would now need a new set because you would see the cut lines she made. I again reminded her that I did not want a new set, just the fill I asked for. She literally threw her arms in the air and stormed off. The owner came over and said "she would make it right." I told her I was just trying to get my nails filled. Next thing I know, the owner has filed off all of the nails on my left hand. I remind her I just wanted a fill and am upset that my specific instructions were ignored. She starts yelling at me in front of the entire salon. The yelling was rude and uncalled for and continued for several minutes. Several customers waiting left after seeing how I was treated. I asked her just to remove the rest of the nails so I can leave and not return. One of the other ladies working there felt bad and offered to fix my nails. The owner never apologized or tried to make things right. I paid full price for nails that were not what I wanted. I left feeling almost abused and very taken advantage of. Three days later my nails still hurt from how roughly they were treated. I will obviously never go back. This is supposed to be a nice (and expensive) salon and I have never been so disappointed in how I was treated. The owner was the worst and could have at least been apologetic but was not, and in fact made the situation worse. I will never go to either Excel Nails, as she owns them both. I recommend you find a salon that appreciates its customers, there are plenty of them in Folsom - this just isn't one of them. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! I walked into the empty salon and asked for a French pedicure, in broken English the lady sits me down and all I understand was the words $29. I thought ok cool, only a few dollars extra no big deal. Sat there and got a pedicure all while every lady crowded around me staring at my fingernails and saying "too long too long" while I wasn't even there for my fingers! After she finished I went to pay and she said $54!!! Not worth it!! It's been 2 weeks and all the polish has peeled off and 2 toenails are shorter because the lady didn't understand what I wanted! I had an appointment today at 1:00 PM for a pedicure and had to wait 25 minutes. Then I was rushed through the pedicure. My pedicure consisted of soaking my feet, a quick scrub and a quick massage and then polish, they were done with my pedicure un under 20 minutes. I totally felt cheated and they did a terrible job. I was walking by the salon and saw that they weren't busy so on a whim I stopped in for a gel manicure and a pedicure. I started with Kathy and she was ok but while she was doing my pedicure Mary came in and did my manicure. She was extremely rough and actually made me bleed. After soaking, she pushes off old polish with her fingernail and what doesn't come off she removed harshly with a file. My nails were super weak when I left the salon. The polish job was the absolute worst I've ever had. There were missed spots and polish on my skin. My nails looked so bad I had to have them done just days later. To make things worse, this treatment was expensive! I would think that they would treat a new customer a little better. I would not recommend this salon to anyone but if you do go, make sure you don't get Mary. read more
