The fan on one of two split system Comfortmaker AC stopped working, it's 26 years old and I had the fan replaced about 15 years ago. Having a good idea what could be wrong, ie bad fan/condenser capacitors and or fan motor, I contacted Vardan at Excellence Air. Once I explained the situation telling him the possibility of bad caps and or fan motor, he was able provide a reasonable price quote, including new oem fan motor part and labor, and set up an appointment the following morning between 9-10am. The condenser unit that needed repairs is the upstairs AC while the 2nd Comfortmaker unit AC is for the one downstairs which continue to work with the same original caps and fan which is pretty impressive. They are both original to when my house was constructed by KBhomes 26 years ago. Vardan was amazing, he immediately pulled and tested the capacitors, the leaking fan capacitor was obviously bad while the condenser cap was testing decreased voltage. Once he replaced both caps, the fan motor failed to turn on and he proceeded to replace the fan motor. I like the fact that he came prepared and had available OEM parts with him and that he did this in steps to make sure he is confirming bad parts instead of just replacing them which could possibly increase the cost and labor. After roughly an hour, he got my 26 year old Comfortmaker AC working and it continues to work today, more than a week later and I have no doubt Vardan's repair will last until the time we call him back to replace the entire HVAC system this coming winter or spring. So it's summer in Vegas and here we go again, AC compressor blew up...again! AHS covered our whole replacement and Excellence Air was the contractor of choice. Vardan, who is the owner of the company spoke with me about the replacement and gave us some great info and options. He assured us that as soon as they receive the brand new AC unit, he will schedule us in immediately....and he did! Vardan did a great job explaining the process and specifically the work to be completed and provided several options to me to fix my A/C issue. The worst company ever. I would never use them to repair anything. They try to get money out of you so they can clean your outdoor air conditioning unit, two hundred dollars per unit and only after you pay them for the cleaning, will they diagnose the problem. In my case, they diagnosed the problem incorrectly, and I had to get another air conditioning company to repair my air conditioner. The other company said the refrigerant was low because there was a leak. They also said there was no need to clean any coils. read more

Home warranty sent out this AC repair company. Service tech states that the system froze due to thick expensive filters and system needed cleaning and service. He said use cheaper filters and get it cleaned. I said great you're here let's do it now. He then stated his company doesn't do that. I looked here on yelp and it says they do and I called the office and they said they do. Home warranty (1st American) assigned Excellence Air as the contractor for a warranty claim on Wed. 24 hours later Excellence air cancelled the request for service, without the common courtesy of a phone call or a reach around! I'm sure glad they did and needless to say there's a reason they trust this company. They're professional, reliable, friendly, and honest. Vardan the owner of the company came out to my home twice. I immediately trusted him the first time he diagnosed the issue. My lack of knowledge in regards to AC units could've easily cost me but he took the time to explain everything to me regarding the trouble with my AC unit and his plan to fix it. Already nervous about the potential expensive costs, he told me that his aim to resolve the issue was to start at the lowest and most common issue, and that if the problem persisted he would return to further diagnose the issue. This is my second review of Excllence Air: I know nothing about AC units so I need to be able to trust the AC tech. I called Vardan to do his annual pre- summer AC inspection. I was prepared to purchase a new unit if Vardan said that the existing unit was ready to die but he did the diagnostics and told me that the AC should last another summer. He could've easily told me that it is time for a new one but in his words- he said he is not a salesman. What an honest and trustworthy guy. He is not only the tech but the owner of the company. Vardan is a super nice guy and definitely gets the job done! My only honest complaint is he could work on his customer service skills so don't expect much other than the final outcome. I do get customer service isn't for everyone but that's when you need figure out how to hire someone else to do it for you.... He did warn me that my home owners insurance was going to put me through hell from his experience but over these last 10 days he didn't do anything to go above and beyond and prove to me that he still had "excellent" customer service. I had to call every day for updates although he did call first thing yesterday to tell me the parts were finally in stock but he didn't even explain that he was fully booked just said - so I'll see you tomorrow between 11a-3p and here is the best part..3:30p came and he still had not arrived so I called him and was told he'd arrive at 4p so I waited and finally he arrived around 4:30p! I get it, I'm not your only customer you probably have 20 a day, you also gotta eat and sleep, you're probably drained I've been there - but this is where you having an assistant or even a software to just update me comes in handy! With me waiting since 11a without any form of update and remember, I've been sitting in a 100 degree house for 10 days straight plus my dogs are brachycephalic aka they became twice the work so a little customer service would have made the situation feel a little better and earn you some more stars! But he did get the job done so three stars and if you aren't like me and just want someone to get the job done totally hire Vardan he's still awesome in my book I just wish he had better customer service skills! read more

Our AC unit stopped working a few months back. We contacted our home warranty company, and they sent over Excellence Air to inspect and repair the issue. At the time, after seeing multiple 5 STAR reviews, we felt confident Excellence Air was the best choice. Especially since the other options had either 1, 2, or 3 Star ratings. Our initial visit from Excellence Air was positive. Vardan (owner/technician) visited the unit and stated the AC unit needs to be replaced; However, as a "temporary" fix, he replaced the condenser. Fast forward to earlier this month, we experienced water dripping from our air handler. We contacted our home warranty company and requested Excellence Air since we had such a positive experience our first time around. At the time, we felt like he was honest and in the business for the interest of the client. We were wrong.... On the day of the recent visit, Vardan arrived to the location and briefly examined the unit. After spending few minutes examining the air handler, Vardan confirmed again the AC unit needs to be replaced as there was significant leakage from the drain plan. When I asked if he can submit a report to the home warranty stating the AC unit needs to be replaced, he refused and stated Excellence Air does not replace AC units with home warranty companies. In order to temporarily fix the issue, Vardan stated he will submit a claim with the home warranty company in order to replace the drain pan. Vardan assured me, with confidence, the home warranty will approve the repairs. In order to avoid delays and trusting his response, that Excellence Air does not replace AC units with home warranties, we agreed to move forward. We did not hear from Vardan for few days after the recent visit. Fast forward several days, I receive a surprise email from my home warranty company requesting $750.00 because Vardan informed them that they need to replace the drain pan and do pipe modification, which is not covered by warranty. I contacted Vardan clarify the situation and understand why I'm being charged, but instead I felt like I was being scammed. Vardan reported the home warranty is not covering the repair and that we're responsible for the cost of an estimated $750.00. I explained to Vardan that it doesn't make sense to pay $750.00 for a drain pan out of pocket when he clearly suggested replacing the AC unit multiple times before. All he needed to do was submit the request to the home warranty company, but instead made excuses of reasons why he doesn't replace units with home warranties. At this point, I was upset and frustrated. We truly believe this issue would've been resolved if Excellence Air did the ethical and moral thing by submitting a request for replacement, which they originally stated multiple times before. Vardan informed me they don't benefit from replacing AC units with home warranties. On a business level, I understand where Excellence Air's coming from, it may not benefit them to replace a AC unit because they won't have recurring issues or returning clients (other than maintenance) for at least couple years. Although this may be true, if the client is happy with the service, they're likely to return and refer future cliental. A lot of small business owners fail to understand the power of word of mouth and social media advertising. At this point, it appears there were two options. Option A: Excellence Air follows with their original diagnosis and submits a request for replacement, the home warranty approves it, the company installs it and gets paid OR Option: B: Temporarily fix the issue knowing the unit will break again, but it guarantees the client will experience issues and will return via home warranty. This method guarantees business, but may not be moral, ethical, or best practices! From my experience, it appears Excellence Air operates with a Option B mindset. Vardan informed me that he does not replace AC units with any home warranty companies because it does not benefit him; however, that's not true because there are multiple reviews on yelp stating he replaced AC units via home warranties. Based on the reviews, it appears they pick and choose who's unit they will replace. At this time, our AC unit continues to leak significant amount of water which has resulted into damage to our unit itself and floors. We've not been able to find a reputable and trustworthy company contracted with the home warranty, and that's a shame! We felt like Excellence Air neglected the job and left us hanging. We initially didn't want to leave a negative review, but we felt like it was the appropriate thing to do in order to share our experience so others don't fall into the same "5 STAR REVIEW" trap. We hope Excellence Air can learn from this experience and improve their practices. read more

We had no heat in our house since before ThanksgiVing. Lows in the 30s at night. AHS sent a company to repair it and they couldn't get it right and lied to us several times. We asked AHS to send a different company so they sent Excellence Air to us. Vardan diagnosed the problem and got it working within 10 minutes. We now have heat after going over 6 weeks without. I wont go into all details of the nightmare we have had working with AHS and their vendors prior to this however after 1.5 hours on the phone with AHS and the horrible service we got from a recent technician we set up a second appt for our issue with Excellence Air. The last technician that AHS sent out said "he was not comfortable working on our unit, because so many others had already done so". Basically they said they would send someone else out to look at the unit and we told them we refused to work with anyone they have sent prior to as we just did not feel we could trust them from what the report from the last technician was. Vardan was wonderful from the minute you call to schedule. He worked with us on scheduling an appointment for a Saturday. He showed up yesterday, 01/29/22, to look at our Heat Pump unit which is 40+ years old and he was WONDERFUL!!!! He was very honest with us about the age of our unit and that replacement is in the future. He took the time to thoroughly go over the unit and make necessary repairs to give us a little longer life with the unit. After he was done he he took the time to give us information about the different brands and how we could save money depending on our choices. My husband I both felt he was 100% professional and honest. He answered all of our questions. We would recommend Vardan to anyone who is looking for a knowledgeable and honest Heating/AC company.
